I have a phone that is in the range of phones effected by the standby of death thing and i didn't want to return it but it started affecting my phone, or at least i think it is. I almost always have a custom rom on it so could that be it. And also if i need to return my phone what should i do, should i just return it to jh7 and then call them to make a return or what? My IMEI ends in 3918.

First of all, never expose ur IMEI like this.
Try changing the kernel/ROM and see if it still is exhibiting the same behavior.

I'm on the same boat.
Honestly, I'm switching over to a more stable ROM to avoid it, and then once the refurb Atrix/Infuse/Inspires come out, I'll ring warranty and pick one up.
what defines standby of death? 10% hr?
5% hr?
Really?!?!?!

So your saying that i can keep my phone and since it has that standby of death thing i can return it and get a atrix/infuse when they come out instead? If so that is awesome, because i got my captivate right before they announced them and i was really angry. But how would i go about doing that once they came out? And about the imei thing, sorry i forgot.
You can't return it for a different phone can you?

standby death means - phone turning itself off when in standby mode, irrespective of battery level.
mine used to turn off whenever it wanted be it the battery was in 90s, or in 80s, or anything for that matter. Never could I predict when I would find it turned off.

Under normal instances no they will send you the same device (at least ATT) as long as they have them.
you have 30 days from date of purchase to get a different phone, after that your stuck with what you have.

Phone bought in July.
1. Phone exchange (August)
2. New battery sent (Nov)
3. Phone exchange (Dec)
4. Phone exchange (Dec) <-- At this point AT&T said they would let me pick a different device if this too didn't work and was suffering sleep death issue

Yes, they can exchange your phone, I had a nokia mural replaced so many times I called the presidents office of AT&T, long story short I got a captivate for $99 dollars from that and a 3 month extension to my contract.
You can in special circumstances get a new phone, but unless you have it replaced 3+ times there not going to do much...

Just got my phone activated today, and I noticed that it keeps rebooting. It boots to the HTC splash screen, goes black, vibrates, and repeats.
In order for it to turn off, I have to push only the right side of the button. Is it stuck?
If I push the other side, or whole power button, it will reset the phone. I am extremely pissed. I purchased this as an upgrade. Is this something I will have to pay for? I just paid well over $300 for the device, case, activation fee.
It's very finicky to turn on, or turn of screen.
Software issue? Button issue?

I just hope I don't have to pay. Usually when Sprint replaces device they make you pay a $200 deductible.
I paid $300 for everything yesterday.....
I want either a free repair, or free replacement. This is being fair. :/ the power button gave out on me in just a matter of hours.

You never have to pay for a warranty issue. This would fall under a warranty issue.
Take back to Store or call them. They will replace on the spot if you go to a store or if you call them, they will send you a new one!
How is the RMA process for Motorola? Is it pretty much hassle free like Google Play?
I'm also wondering this. I have to RMA mine due to an issue with a spot on my camera.

I just called Motorola, 5minjtes later they said they are overnighting me a new phone with a return label no problem! I'm glad they have good customer service for issues like I had.
Other than having to wait for their stock to replenish, I've had no issues with the RMA process for my N6: quick and easy.

I was lucky because they had a blue 64gb in stock ready to ship. They asked what color I wanted and I said I don't care as long as its a 64gb. They said OK they only have blue so they sent me that one. I have a blue one now so that's fine, but I think it's funny how they would have happily sent me a white one if it was in stock.

For those who've received a RMA phone (any motorola phone) do you have to pay money, and did you received a refurbished device?

I didn't have to pay anything they send you a label so you can send the old one back. I don't know if its new or not because I get mine tomorrow via FedEx,however I would assume it's refurbished unless they don't have any refurbished ones yet then it will likely be new. Either way not worried because they sent it out fast, free, and it was easy to get replaced. I also have moto care should I actually break my phone accidentally which seems to be a good idea considering it's size. I'll report back tomorrow when my phone arrives, hopefully in the morning because you need to sign for it in person.
Mine was brand new.
They sent me a brand new phone sealed in the box

They didn't put a hold on my CC, I double checked.
I just RMA'd my second N6 because of 1/2 the screen freezing randomly and the camera jumping... I love my Nexus I just hope this one works better. I hope this one doesn't have any issues because I don't want any other phone except for my Nexus 6

As for the device, it was brand new, but I wouldn't expect that to last long as they start refurbing the returns.

its a new security system for the nexus.. even if you wipe the phone 10x and then flash the factory image, it will still ask for the previous owners security, unless he removed it. if it is removed, then it would be fine. and if he didnt, and you got the phone, he can reset his password, but it will take 3 days before it becomes affected. this is for people that steal devices, to keep you safe.

You should meet up at the carrier store you're trying to activate it at and have someone at the store make sure everything is ok and it activates. Also if you buy things from Craiglist a lot, you should have a receipt book and have the seller sign it and take a picture of the license plate or write it down so you can file a police report if things go sideways.

Simms, you are such a good person, nothin but pleasant.
I just bought a new phone from company and I have downloaded the app "Phone Info Samsung" in order to check the refurbishment. But it shows my phone is a refurbished one. After that, I downloaded another app and it shows my phone is original. Should I worry about my phone? I feel bad after seeing this. Sorry for my English.

I wouldn't think so, did you register it with Samsung for warranty and keep receipts of purchase?
if you did I don't really see it being a problem if the phone is in perfect condition
I'm of coarse the odd ball I don't care if mine is a refurb or not. If it works and no damage there is no difference. Orig refurb double refurb. They all work the same.
Some times a refurb can be better than the orig. Not saying this one is.

Yeah, I did. I kept it all, but I think Samsung would not do that to their customer. Because I bought it directly from Samsung company. I think that if it was a refurb, it would not come with the warranty card. Moreover, my phone is in perfect condition.

My concern would be the "water proofness" post refurb.....
However i never get my phone wet, and don't plan to, but accidents happen and it's nice to be able to count on the water resistance. Maybe check with Samsung, I would.....it's your hard earned/saved money.

One can only hope......I'd at the very least would want a discount on a "previously used device" If it is in fact refurbed the pricing should have reflected that. IMO

Here is one way to check whether your phone is refurbished or not: use a test code(##786#) at the Phone app. This can work for most of the Android phones.
