Hello, i just bought an LG Optimus 2x p-990, the first thing i did was updating to official ICS, but similar to my previous phone, i cant stand the stock rom and wanted to flash a custom one (havnt decided yet witch rom i want). After some trouble i finally rooted my phone, but now im stuck at trying to flash a new recovery. When i try flashing it through rom manager it says the device hast an official recovery yet, and when i try flashing this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1098745) (note: i have usb debugging on and when i run it super user notifys that was given permision to shell) the cmd prompt opens for some seconds and closes again, and when i try to boot into recovery it goes to the stock recovery that wipes my phone.
Maybe this has been answered in here but believe me when i say i searched for the answer extensivly.
Hope i can get some help.
make it simple, install rom manager then install recovery..
I explained that i can not do it. ROM manager says the device is not listed and when i try to manually install the recovery it says permission denied.
Download and install nvflash driver(often called ATX) and install it. Then dl AIO all in one tool, from there you can install Cwm(can also be nvflashed) You can't use rom manager as it's not compatible with the new bootloader and partition table

This one, by rmein.
I downloaded the one first listed, at 218.14MB and it worked a treat.
Its done ^^ the AIO tool the the job perfectly. i think my device wasnt properly rooted. thank you so much.
I know it's solved but moved it as didn't belong in General. Please post in the correct section when asking questions/for help.
Thanks

I rooted, then unlocked the phone, then went installing the CWM contained in the "all in one tool" thing in the development forum for our device. Sadly, I cant seem to install any ROM, I always initially get some sort of getprop error? Any ideas?

What version of CWM is installed ?
You need 6.0.3.1 to install custom roms.

6.0.2.8 .... I before tried the thing from the CWM thread, with this warning of not working on V20 beta something, installed by an apk? That one was not bootable before and sort of rendered my phone dead, as it woul dnot boot into the installed LG ROM as well after I tried the install. I had to do an emergency reinstall of LGs own ROM with the LG Support Tool ... so I don't trust that CWM there ..... I'm not sure, which ones will work on my Euro P880.

Do u have any workable rom installed ?
You can download Rom Manager from play store and then download and install cwm 6.0.3.1. from rom manager
Nope ... ROM is broken. I can't even put the original LG ROM on it ... the LG USB drivers seem not compatible with W8.

Have you tried to run LG Support Tool as Administrator - it helped me to install original LG ROM
Ok, managed to do it somehow ... it's installing by means of emergency install ... I hope it runs through

they're compatible, but it's a hassle to make them work. you gotta reinstall your drivers every time you need to use S/W mode, and after you install, check device manager, some components are installed as unrecognized, you gotta update driver -> automatic search.
After you unlock your bootloader how to install CWM 6.0.3.1
Download the tool ,,
http://d-h.st/HFR
extract the folder
open the folder
find file with name: O4X_CWM.img
rename it to something else e.g. O4X_CWM_old.img
Download new cwm (i gave you link before, but here is another
http://download2.clockworkmod.com/recoveries/recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.3.1-p880.img
put recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.3.1-p880.img file in the same folder as your renamed file (O4X_CWM_old.img)
rename recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.3.1-p880.img to O4X_CWM.img
Right click on "[All-In-One][P880].bat" choose run as administrator
The tool will ask you if you have the drivers ,, install them if you don't have .
The tool will show you 8 options .
In your phone go to Settings/Developer Options/Check "USB Debugging" ,,
then connect phone .
choose CWM Recovery option.
wait for complete
disconnect phone
Turn off phone
Turn on phone with vol down pressed.
It should load cwm 6.0.3.1
It worked on my phone, good luck
Whopeee ... operation successful! I can finally install the rom The touch feature of that CWM is reall yfantastic .. no more crazy volume button rocking. Thanks much!
To sum up what I did in short:
- Started with Euro 4.1.2 LG original ROM.
- Press Power/Vol Down to get into the tiny original blue Menu
- Chose install by ADB
- used the root package for 4.1.2 (small thing linked in here), just ran root.bat in a administrator cmd shell on windows --> rooted phone
- Unlocked phone using the cat & echo of the file named in here --> unlocked
- Used the all in one tool with the new CWM file to install the CWM
Now to check out those roms.... I hope one of them is sophisticated enough not to be a crazy battery eater and heat producer...
(man, these guessing games on which info on here is accurate every few months drives me completely crazy..... but in the end it's great)
Hi guys
I have a problem whenever I flash my rom using the flashtool64bit version 09.15.0 build on 15-13-2014 it works fines I can get into the Xperia OS no issues there
I then enable developer option and apply security setting so it allows third party apps to be install.
I then apply the ADB and fastboot run the command as per fastboot flash boot boot.img this too works fine.
I enter CWN ROM manager by turning the power off holding the vol button up and down , and here is my problem
when I select the file Update-superuserv2.zip it runs fine no errors there my problem is when I reboot at this stage
I get "Sony" logo and it just goes into a while loop nor matter how many times I reflash
additional information
I manage to unlock the bootloader
I followed instruction to to root the device
again nor matter what method I tried I can't by pass the "sony" logo to fix this I have to reflash again and this does work but when I install Clockwork it states the device is not rooted ?
I am a totally newbie to this and really would appreciate a dummy proof instruction please.
which boot.img did you flash?
Please post a link
Hi there
thanks for the reply back , I flash CWM clockwork boot.img
I am unable to insert a link as I haven't posted 10 post yet , I obtain this information from ibtimes website .co.uk
I hope this answer the question
That will not work as there is no recovery partition on an xperia device
Just flash a custom kernel, it will contain recovery.

I have try downloading the ftf file from xperiafirmware dot com/8-firmware/42-sony-xperia-z1-c6903 site , issue when I install the ROM manager from clockwork it states "You must root your phone for ROM manager to function SuperUser vas not found at /system/bin/su" I have already applied UPDATE_SuperSUv2.zip file via the boot process where you press the vol button up and down , the issue is when it reboot it does not pass the "sony" logo just goes into while loop
just look in the development section of the exact same forum you are posting in....

hey buddy thanks for the supported I sorted it my device is now rooted , and its my first time
I used this instruction androidadvices.com/root-install-cwm-recovery-sony-xperia-z1-android-phone-guide/#.U6whr3lOUdU
from the site it worked , best part about the instruction is each step they provide you with the file you need to download and that really makes it easy .
thanks again
OK people i won't talk much, i by mistake in twrp went to wipe then advance wipe and selected everything in there (including system)( i got a 158 mb update to v10d software i did that but it kinda failed cuz it rebooted once and got to twrp and stayed on it forever all other reboots take me to twrp and nothing else and then i wiped everything after trying many times cuz i was mad ).
SO yeah now there's no os installed in it.
BTW i have l90 D410 the dual sim version v10c software rooted and unlocked bootloader with guides from XDA only.
To fix myself i tried downloading CM 11 and tried flashing the zip from twrp at first i got w7ds error telling my device is not w7, so i searched a bit and got something which said change updater script and edit "w7" to "w7ds" in the first few lines. So i did that and tried to flash again but then i got MD5 does not match
WHAT should i do?
ATM im just stuck on twrp with no os installed in my l90 or say i have a completely wiped l90 with twrp recovery and a sd card (8 gb) and when trying to reboot twrp says your device doesnt look rooted install supersu to root it (obviously swiping to install dont work), other twrp functions are working good.
HELP PLSsssss most appreciated.

Did you try installing stock rom with kdz files using guides to be found on L90 general (I think) section?

What thread did you get your recovery from, @Quarx CM11? There is an option in TWRP on the page that's displayed right after selecting files to install, "Zip file signature verification". Make sure it's unchecked. Unchecking that option should bypass the MD5 verification and allow the installation. Unfortunately, you may have to continue with editing the updater-script on new installs.
I'll speak with @shoxxy and @Quarx about creating recoveries for the dual sim devices so that we can prevent this error from happening anymore. This will mean that there will eventually be 2 different sets of recoveries available for the L90. One set for dual-sim devices, and one set for single sim devices. By recovery set, I mean all available recoveries, CWM, TWRP, and Philz-Touch.
The reason for TWRP not installing SuperSU to root the OS is because there is no OS to root.

i believe i got twrp from google (damn) , by md5 verification you mean that zip file verification should have a cross infront of it or not? well w/e it is i tried in both ways (having cross and not having one) but it checks for md5 both times, maybe because i dont have twrp from quarx thread.
Can i update my twrp to quarx's one? if so how pls tell, would be much helpfull.
EDIT : atm i have downloaded few files that might be needed to unbrick(stock kdz file, cm11 28/10 build, twrp image from quarx) on my pc

you said that u updated ur device to 10d..
Thats d problem.....
If u updated ur phone without stock recovery..
It will struck at twrp..
If u try to flash roms..
but still u'll struck at twrp (It happens to me tooo)
After rebooting the phone is directly enter into recovery mode to flash new update ..
I don't know where the update file and script stored but until its updated its still struck at the same twrp..
if u remove cache/delvik cache/data/system..
But still its trying to update phone by entering into recovery mode.......
So,
Only one solution to this.
Flash kdz file using offline method.
Here's link to thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-l90/general/guide-flash-stock-kdz-offline-lg-l90-t2803479
but after flashing kdz 10C.
It'll automatically update to 10d (Don't panic at this)..

the problem here is that my phone was not in usb debugging mode before brick and i spent 6-7 hrs figuring out how to get my device detected, but it never got detected in my pc.
BTW my prob for now is solved since my phone is running cm11 very well, its true that i lost some good functionality like knock on, qslide apps, quick window software, etc. but at least it has an os to boot into now.

please hepl me out brother.
thanks and regards,

You need to download the firmware (around 900mb) not cm ROM (300mb)
Sent from my GT-I9192 using XDA Free mobile app
i have found out how to fix this what you need to do is first flash a rom zip file get your stock recovery image for your device and flash it via twrp select install than install image find your stock recovery image then flash it then it will boot to the previous rom you tried to install then you can reflash twrp and all good
Hi
I recently unlocked the bootloader of my USCC XT1055 Moto x , flashed TWRP and pushed su, phone is working fine
but since then i am noticing after every reboot my phone is optimizing all the apps
this is annoying and takes a lot of time.
(there is one more issue , i am unable to find any twrp backups through any file explorer app , but when i boot into TWRP i can see the twrp fiolder as well as the nandroid )
I even flashed a debloated version of 5.1 ROM and used a custom kernel , but the situation is still the same
I even installed that app from play store which is supposed to fix this optimizing issue ( Optimizing Apps fix [ROOT] ) , but even thats not helping
kindly guide me what i should do
Thanks in advance
Guys plz help
would appreciate any input
Thanks
same problem, very frustrating

Well it was happening even before I flashed the new boot animation, so I can safely say totally unrelated.
Any input would be welcome

I've got the same problem too, when I updated the app and the su binary. But I fix it ?
Try to do these.
First download the SuperSU v2.79.zip
Then try to flash it. Do NOT update the SuperSU app.
In my case I can't flash it because there is no compatible custom recovery for my phone.
So I did these things,
-copy the su & supolicy in the zip file *SuperSU v2.79.zip*
-then paste it in system/xbin/ or anywhere you can find the two files in your system.
Then after that reboot your phone.
And no more optimizing app that takes too long.
I hope it works to you.
Just don't update the app.
