Hey guys, so this has bugged me since the Galaxy s3. I use the note 4 now. I used the Gmail app and most of the time the email is delayed 1-2 mins. Sometimes it can be for 30 mins. Hangouts/ Google voice message is always slower than on my Pc. This is one thing that the iPhone does much better. I used to use the iPhone 6 plus and it's email/hangouts/Google voice messages are instant and faster than my Pc. Anyone experience this? Any fix? Thanks.
P/s: I did check auto sync and notification for every category. The issue is not my wifi because the iPhone is also on this wifi.
I doubt you gonna get a fix. We all experience this.

God this may be a deal breaker for some people especially who works with emails a lot. The iPhone does an incredible job on push service. I bought the note 4 hoping this issue gets fixed...
I don't have an issue with push services, but the applications themselves have been a bit glitch lately. Think it had to do with them being first material theme design releases. Hoping the next releases are smoother.

Same thing here. I'm coming from a M7 and I'm noticing a delay in receiving pushed notifications...
Worst thing is the delay is pretty random. Sometimes it can be 1-2 mins. Other time its 5 mins. I notice at night its significantly delayed up to over 30 mins...
I've searched google and surprised not a lot complaints about this. Google voice message on android is much less useful than on iPhone since the messages are a bit delayed ;(((
I've found the reason. It is indeed my WiFi. When I switch to LTE, email is instant ,even faster than my PC, just like the iPhone. I guess its time to get a new router or some settings need adjusting

Does it happen only on your wifi? Did you try it on another network? I doubt to be your router... It happens to me as well regardless of the wifi network that I'm connected to.
Does the note has any wifi optimization feature as HTC does? Something to minimize battery usage when wifi is on?

I can confirm that on LTE, the email is instant and even faster than my PC,just like the same speed I got on the iPhone. I've been using only LTE for 2 days and this makes me happy since it was almost a deal breaker to me.
However on WiFi its delayed, at least at my home and my school. I experienced delay on school WiFi too. The phone has no issue with wifi, however. There's no drop signal or anything. I don't know why push service is delayed on WiFi. I hope there's a hidden wifi setting somewhere....
Nexus 4 had this problem. I don't think it was ever resolved.

Wow that would suck. If it works on your PC fine then your network is OK. Some settings on your phone are not set right. Post screen shots of your WiFi settings and advanced settings. This will help someone figure it out. Also what router and ISP do you have
BAD ASS NOTE 4
I searched around and found out this is actually a common issue of Android. (searched "delayed notification android"). This can be fixed with an app (need root tho). I switched to unlimited data so I don't use wifi much on my phone any more

What app?
I've searched and didn't find a thread regarding my issue.
Everyday whenever I come home from work I'm having trouble reconnecting to my WiFi at home. My Nexus 7 , Nexus 4 and ever my GF's LG G3 connects to it. My nexus 6 on the other hand never connects Automatically. I'm always given the "Authentication Error" until I reboot. Is this a known issue or is it just me?
Nexus 6 (T-Mobile)
Thank you

No.
Try and reboot your router with a 30 second removal of power source.

=\ its not the Router since all my other Devices Connect Automatically. Since you don't have this issue then I'm guessing its only my Device. Meh... I'll call T-Mobile today.

Before you do, do what I suggested. It is irrelevant that other devices connect. I work in IT support and it is very common that the router causes an issue with just 1 of several devices connecting. 90% chance that in your case it is not the router, but this should always be your first step. This is why I suggested you should do it.
Will do thanks

Turns out its an issue with my phone. T-Mobile will send a new one tomorrow. And since I'm in the Jump Program I'll get it in a day. Bad news is I tried getting the white version but can't since it has to be the same. Meh
Thank you though
For reference, my phone has the problem too sometimes. I assumed is was ROM related however.
Last night it wouldn't connect to my AC1900 for over 10 mins. Multiple reboots of both. Then will periodicslly disconnect. Also took over 5 minutes to reconnect to cellular data after disabling WiFi.
I am having the same problems. The way I know it's not my phone or rom. Because it kicks everything off the computer ps4 other phones. It's the router I read on Google that sometimes you have to update the router drivers. I tried that but of course you need a user name and password. Since it's not mine and the person's that it belongs to has not a clue? We know the password for the wifi but not to configure the router. Especially since the router is about 5yrs old we have know disc or the computer it was set up on.
@jason504,
You could try typical shipping:
Username - "admin"
Password - "password"

Did not work I have tried everything I can to come up with this username and password. It's not mine so, I always use the same password for everything to much to remember.

One other thing you could try. Go to the manufacturer's website, and download the owner's/setup guide. It usually lists the default username and password. By chance, if it's a Motorola, the default password is often "motorola".
I get the authentication error no matter what Rom I use, and I get the error on all the WiFi networks I connect to. How did you come up with it being the phone? It seems like it has to be.

Are you experiencing issues with bluetooth at all? Such as disconnecting from your devices randomly? It's just my initial thoughts but I'm going to keep looking around for more answers.

For the Smart Lock location issue there have been multiple people saying it's broken in play services at the moment. Some people have gone into maps and seen that their location was way off then it would get corrected and smart unlock would work.
Something worth trying is downloading GPS Status from the play store and it can reset your GPS and download new agps files for you to get better lock ons. It's worth a shot but I think you might be stuck until they fix it.
As for bluetooth, what are you doing when you notice it go out? Also are you rooted all that basic device info stuff?
#blamegoogle lol. Smart lock has been a bit buggy for a lot of users. I've had issues with the trusted places and trusted face. Hopefully Google will get this ironed out in future updates.

Nothing I've tried as fixed that issue, to the point of I don't even bother locking the phone anymore. Only time I really have any concern about anyways is when I'm away from home in public places, but I rarely leave my phone lying around for others to snoop or use or take!

The only reason I ask is that if a bluetooth device disconnects and reconnects you have to input your password once then smart lock works again.

OOPS. This was my fault. Well actually it is still the phones fault technically. I stream music mostly so when I leave the house my wifi is being used so when I leave the house and become out of range my phone will start looking for wifi again so my streaming music will stop. I thought it was the bluetooth but in actuality it was my phone looking for a wifi signal instead of instantly/quickly switching the data from wifi to LTE.
What really made me think it was the bluetooth is that, I have Optimum hotspots so my phone will switch from my home wifi to Optimum hotspots but the signal is not very strong for the data but strong enough to hold the wifi and not switch to LTE, soooooo I would turn my bluetooth on and off which most of the time would not work but by turning off wifi the phone will immediately switch to LTE and music is back. So its the phone that cannot tell or rather gauge a signals strength to see if it is too low for data and switch to LTE.
BUT YES, my bluetooth device smart lock is not working at all. Neither is the location smart unlock and I have tried the "Right and left neighbor address" trick. Still not working. Its broken.
Try the new play services: http://www.androidpolice.com/2015/0...d-wear-notification-dismissible-apk-download/
It fixed the home location for me.
I've seen all the problems about Lollipop and Wifi not connecting. However, my problem is different. I connect just fine AND I'm getting 31 ms ping, 60mbps down and 12mbps up. However, my internet browsing is slow, Facebook is slow, you tube is slow. Pretty much anything I need is slow except that my e-mail comes in, although if I need to synch anything, but my inbox (because that's pushed) it's slow as well. Even the speed test takes a while to load up, but when it does these are the results I get. The only solutions I find are about problems not connecting to the internet. Even that being the case I tried those remedies with no luck. Also my wife who just got a Moto X has the same problems. Hmmm both phones are made by Motorola I'm wondering is this is a coincidence. I should say I wasn't having these problems a few weeks ago they just kind of started and my wife had a Moto G that didn't have these problems. This combined with bluetooth issues is making it very hard for me to keep believing in Android as much as I want to. Any thoughts or help on this is greatly appreciated.

All other devices such as my laptop, roku box and other smartphones don't have these same issues on my wifi. As far as using other wifi' with my smartphone it varies - some are good and some are not. Which makes me think it's having trouble with certain routers or their settings.

I've already tried all the suggestions. However, I can't adjust other routers that I don't have control over. So it's frustrating that it doesn't work better on more routers.
btw, what kind/brand of router are you using? maybe someone is using the same or similar that can give some advice.
I am seeing the exact same thing on a used Nexus 6 that I just picked up. It seems to only happen (so far) on my work's WiFi, although even that just started within the past couple of days. It works fine on the WiFi at home.
Since I purchased the N6 to use with Project Fi which relies heavily on WiFi, this is putting a serious damper on things.
I'm looking for any suggestions or even just confirmation that me and jdekoven aren't the only ones.
I have the same problem with my Nexus 6, Nexus 4 and Nexus 10, all on either 5.1 or 5.1.1. It happens on my home Comcast X1 router/cable modem. It is not a problem with my Chromebook or Windows 7 PC.
It is not a problem at my office which has an Asus router and Cox cable modem.
This problem appeared recently, definately since 5.0, but maybe more recently (especially the Nexus 6, which I have only noticed the problem for a week or 2), and is only a problem for me on my home Comcast network.
I've had this same issue for a few days now. Just plugged my Asus router into the Xfinity box and once setup, WiFi is perfect using the other router. I'm assuming its due to background updates in the Xfinity box not playing nice with the phone. Dunno. But swap routers if you can.

Hey all, i notice, everytime i flash a new rom, and connect to wifi for the first time, my phone downloads "something", its probably a 20-40mb file, i know this because i have a network speed meter in my status bar, and everytime i connect to wifi for the first time, i see my download speed jump to max speed for a few mins, i just wonder, what the heck it is or how can i find out?
I had this same thing happen on my nexus 5, but only started noticing this when lollipop came out.

Its most likely just cuz the phone is syncing all you're google stuff. Contacts, calendar, playstore, etc.

It could also be a carrier app. Mine installs the T-Mobile account app.
It does it based on the SIM card.

If you have chosen to backup and restore your account through Google settings, then most likely it is restoring your settings and data. Otherwise:
