Hello,
does somebody know if the European retail version of our handset can be unlocked.
I am intending to do so in order to make full use of greenify and extend my battery life.
Though I hope my warranty would not be void in case I get a hardware defect...
I read the us retail version is eligible to be unlocked as it is a developer device but how about us here in Europe?
Thanks for your help
Cheers

Go to Motorola website and check if you are eligible for unlock.
Thanks,
I did check that page:
https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/87215
It says us / gsm...
What does gsm mean? Is there maybe a page to enter the serial number and check?

Is this a new fw for T in future or what?
I hope not, because that is the firmware for the xperia TL (American AT&T) which has a bootloader that cannot be unlocked

"Cannot" as in never? or is this something that may change in the future? Because I just received my phone in the mail today, and this locked bootloader is very disappointing. I might just return this phone if unlocking is not an attainable option for me.

check the service menu. It will tell you if it allows you to unlock it or not. Its always worth a bit of reasearch about this before laying out £350 or getting into a 2 year contract....
Hi,
I bought my SGA from India. I will be in US for 2 months. When I inserted a US SIM in my phone, no network was shown.
Is it because of the difference in frequency bands of GSM in India and USA? But isn't SGA quad-band? (850/900/1800/1900)?
Can someone help me?
Thanks in advance..
Indian Ace should work in USA too..
Actually, I traveled to USA with my Indian Galaxy Ace and it worked for me. I tried international roaming with my AirTel number and also tried AT&T network at USA.
have you unlocked your phone already?
if you're rooted you can use galaxy ace unlock. it's free and easily gets you the code needed for unlocking.
just search for it on the play store

Flashing US version of android firmware may solve the issue.

I haven't unlocked my phone, but have rooted it. I don't think Indian Phones are locked.

Yes u r correct. Indian fones are not locked. Try a US based firmware or try Network Settings- Auto detect Carrier and choose mode to Auto.

I am going to aboard for 2 month and wanna using my phone. I wonder how to unlock the phone and use it outside U.S.
You can try to call AT&T to see if they will give you the unlock code. (unlikely)
I assume you are on post MI9 firmware. If so, Chainfire's region unlock will not work for you.
cellunlocker.net is a site you can go to to get it unlocked, you have to pay, but they are very reputable.

I always use unlockcode247.com (aka Myhoian on eBay), best unlocking site I know you get the code in a couple of hours. You also have to revert back to stock ROM to enter the code even in you get the code from ATT.

I didn't have to revert back to stock to use my unlock code. just put in non att sim and rebooted then entered the code.

I know that bootloader voids warranty. I also know that relocking it dosent give your warranty back.(as moto keeps a list of unlocked bootloaders)
But ive heard that people from sony xperia devices and also form moto G gen 1 have got their devices repaired for free by just locking their bootloader which they had unlocked earlier!
Anyone has any experience regarding the same? I heared that a guy Tapan Shah (My facebook friend on a moto g community) got his gen 1 repaired for free after he flashed all stock and locked the bootloader. He says that they have a list but they be lenient while they check for damages .
Anyone who has any experience visiting a MOTOCARE center after relocking the bootloader?
I think we dont get warranty in india after unlocking bootloader....

We all think that but I am asking about any experience at the service center!
I am thinking to buy the harman kardon version of HTC's M8.. I will be buying from US to India. After reading many posts here, I see lot of saying that they are unable to unlock and for some it's working.
So the question is can we unlock sprint htc one m8 or not? Are there some models which are not getting unlocked?
Thanks in advance for the help.
You can unlock it for international use.
All the models can be unlocked for international use or up to a certain baseband number ...
just want to be sure before buying it.
Thanks for the help

I wonder why the unlock only works for international use and not for a US GSM carrier.

Something having to do with the firmware. OMJ discusses it in his ROM thread.
