Hey guys, I have a gear 2 neo that I decided to go swimming with. It worked fine until the next day. It wouldn't turn on and I thought it was dead. I took it apart and found mold on the motherboard. I cleaned it of with some mild detergent and a toothbrush. I made sure it was dry and reassembled it. Now it turns on and stuck in bootloop. It shows the Samsung gear 2 and at the bottom it says rebooting... And reboots. Now I'm trying to figure out how to get it back up and running again. I cannot get to the recovery screen nor anywhere else. Any suggestions?

I have a similar problem, my gear won't boot up but is stuck at a screen saying an unexpected error has occurred and to contact support if it continues. I got it for Christmas but don't have the receipt so I can't take it in for warranty.
Any suggestions?
I think I'm going to buy me another motherboard, its kind of a pain to find but I bet its a cheaper alternative. I think I found it for $25

So here's the deal, a few days back water was spilled on top of my phone with no apparent damage. initially it turned on, but started to slowly act up.
what warrenty do you have? lol, if you pay that extra 5 bucks you can bring it in and replace it for free for any self damage. dont worry so much.

the water damage indicator is fine. but here's the problem...
my little brother lives for this website and found a way to customize my phone so that some images pop up when i turn the phone on. that's great and all, but now that i'm returning the phone for a new one, i need to get all of that off of there so they know that the phone wasn't messed with as far as the warranty goes. the issue we're having is getting past the point of the images in order to reset the phone. when i put his g1 battery into my g1 it works only up to the point of the second image.
can someone, anyone please help me with this?
do i install something and just crash the phone?
do i take out to my driveway and run it over so it doesn't turn on?
basically, i need help getting this custom feature off my phone so that i'm able to have a phone sent back to me.
thank you.

is the water damage sticker red or white?
red means water damage.
whatever the color is, when you call tmo, tell them it's white.
the charge you'll get in the end will be cheaper than initially saying it's red.
on some phones, there are more water damage indicators on the inside of the phone as well as behind the battery.
find the .nbh file in the rooting thread and flash that to your phone, if you are in us it's the RC29 file and in UK it's the RC7 i think

Do what the guy said above by putting dreaming.nbh on your phone, it actually sounds like your phone is stuck in a boot loop and might have nothing to do with water. If downgrading to RC29 does not work, you will have to reflash the stock boot.img and you can find that information under themes and wallpapers>custom boot images.
two ways you can do that through adb, or through terminal emulator. terminal emulator might be easier for you, should all be in the link posted below.
I actually think it would be funny to send a custom boot screen back to tmo or htc but thats besides the point.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=467693
you can also do what i did and told tmobile that the wifi doesn't work and its covered under htc warranty.
good luck.
So I was using my tab and out it in my bag 4 hours ago. I took it out to charge it and it is off and will not turn on or charge. What the heck? I tried holding down the power button, charging with the adapter and PC, nothing works. Did it just die for no reason? I was installing nothing new, I have the most recent overcome rom on and it is modestly OC'd to 1.2, stable, and not overvolted. I hadn't changed anything major on the tab in well over a week.
Please tell me this isn't totally borked....
Solved my own problem!
Seems one of the pins got bent somehow. I went in there with a really tiny screwdriver a paperclip and a 3rd hand and sorted it out. Pin was jammed all the way back so I pulled it out and flattened it back into its home. I guess they pins touched and it freaked out and shut down.
Unfortunately now whenever I unplug it the pins seems to touch and the phone shuts down.
now your plug is broken. you need to send it to a depot before it fails completly or shorts out. if you fry your motherboard you might as well buy a new one.

Yup. I am just going to ebay it. I broke down and hit a t-mobile store up today and got a GS2 from them. No need for a tab and that.

true, the only reason I have a tabby is because I liked the android phones, but I am really near sighted. so I azked myself,
what did I like about these phones, the computer part. so I sold my 500.00 phone and bought a 450.00 tablet and a 50.00 phone.
and now I am happy.
Well, I guess is not so ethical what Im going to ask...
But, last mont my phone touchscreen stopped responding, going to service, 15 days without phone, phone working fine again.
After less than a week, touchscreen stop working again, back to service, phone working again.
What happen yesterday? touchscreen isnt working again
I wont deal with an obviously faulty phone again.
So, I want to kill it completely. I dont know if there is a way to kill even fastboot, but if anyone can help me, It will be great. Looks like it's the only way to get a proper replacement from moto
Doesn't sound like a good idea, , They'll proooooobably know if you been messing with it.

So don't... Tell them what kind of hassle you've already been through and that you want a replacement. If you have insurance, break the screen. Usually they don't ask what happened but if they do tell them your a contractor and you were doing some heavy lifting and it broke in your pocket.
Thanks for your answers.
Im not in the US. Here moto can hold your phone in repair for a maximum of 3 months
They dont care if you are dealing with service for the second or third time.
I guess I´ll use the hard way. It wont be so difficult
A buddy at work is a real phone whore and like to get a new one every few month. he takes a car battery and 2 wires and touches the battery contacts on the phone to fry the board.
Just touch it for a second or you'll get burn marks. Phone will be DEAD and there is no way for them to tell you did it...

crispy Droid 3 ..
here in mexico, my mom had a motorola cliq that had problems with the board (it crashed even after wipe without modding) sent it back returned (they just reflashed it) happened again and sent it back and they just reflashed it. this time i rooted and updated firmware. but anyway it failed again. sent it back (with sbf of original ) the they just re flashed the unit..
one more time it went back and for the most time (3 weeks ) it was well
on every call to support i told them that the problem was the board in the phone.
one fourth time sent it back and finally got the board replaced ... (this time imei was different but housing was the same.
i was very happy until i noted they closed the phone housing badly wrong .. but it was working. then it failed again but this time it was a new error. keyboard lights died because of a FRIED Sensor. but it was working.
but as using it at night was impossible. i returned it and as i had sent it back so many times they changed my phone (my mom didnt want another Motorola for now) for a Nokia N97 (i'm talking 2 years ago when android wasn't as popular as it is today.
today. my mom still has that phone. always trustworthy Nokia phone.
anyway wht im saying is that keep sending it back until they change at least the board or the screen.. but well
have you tried reflashing?
Wife and I got a pair of Vivids in June of 2012, mine is rooted, has CM10 on it, her's is 100% bone stock.
Since this morning, it will not boot. When you go to turn it on, the screen's backlight comes on for 2-3 seconds, then off for a second, and a quick blink of the backlight and nothing. Then it starts a quick (.25-.50 second long) vibrate every 19 seconds. I've tried the battery from mine, same deal.
I'm not eligible for upgrade until June 2014, so if anyone has an ideas on what could be wrong or how to fix it, I'd greatly appreciate it.
If anything, I'd like to be able to get the data off it... pics and videos... for some reason she had no SD card in here and dropbox filled up back in April. Wish she'd told me that happened.
Thanks!
Apparently Vivid charging ports are fragile. Possible that hers has a short? Broken piece lodged in there causing the power to be wonky? I'd take a look with a good magnifying glass. Replacement part on eBay for about $6 if it is broken.

I'll see what I can find out. The kids have a couple of those toy microscope things, just need to get a battery so the light will work.
I plugged it into the computer without the battery and Windows wanted to install some driver qhsusb_dload? but googling that makes me think the phone is bricked in some way, which is odd because I never messed with hers.

Is there a way to definitively determine this? I'd hate to pay someone for this, just to find out it wasn't the problem.
Also, will this retain the data on the phone? I'm really aggravated at myself for not realizing there wasn't a MicroSD card in there, and more aggravated at my wife for not noticing the "Hey dropbox is full" notifications on the phone since APRIL. She's aggravated because all the pics and the video of the kids since April could potentially be gone. Good times for all.
Thanks!
You can try the Unbricking project...
dexter93's thread in development...
You need Linux... And there is no guarantee...
Iirc you only need a live CD... And don't need it installed...

The very same thing happened to mine mid summer. Here is the story from my experience. Sent to HTC for repair. They would NOT give an estimate up front. They wanted $210 to repair it. Told them no. Sent it for JTAG service. RIFF box could not talk to it. Replaced the phone.
I would send it for JTAG service. Especially if it is still showing some signs of life. Look on EBAY for jtag servive by nto1566. $25 if he can fix it. Money refunded if he can't. All you are out is postage.

Well hrm... I contacted him via eBay and he says:
Sorry if it was stock rom and suddenly dead, it is hardware issue, not bricked by corrupted boot loader or software issue.
Thanks.

Boot on recovery?
Hello friend!
I want to ask if you tried to charge the phone until green LED in upper left corner?, Then if you tried to put it into boot mode by pressing volume down and then press on? if you can load into boot mode, which is a white screen, you can scroll with the volume key down to "Factory Reset" and pressing the button on. Maybe the phone is restarted but surely erase all data are stored.
If you decide to JATG, the same will happen
Decisions, I hope you serve what I recommend, if so please let me know in the post, OK
If you plug it in to charge it either does nothing, or the orange "charging" light will come on for a few seconds and go out.

Hi!
I got an Xperia Z, working perfect until one night when I put it next to a TV on a counter.
Let it stay there for about 1 hour when I tried to sleep, got up again and walked over to get my phone.
Turned on the screen and tried to unlock it, but nothing at all happened. The screen wont recognize any of my touches.
Anyone have any idea at all what could've happened? Seriously, I just let it lay on the counter, no one touched it or even got close to it, but it stille broke.
Restarting the phone wont work, and that's about all I can do. I've tried letting the battery drain out several times since it happened, but no progress what so ever.
This happened about a year ago, and now I've decided to send it to a repair company and see what they can do. But before that, hit me with ideas!
Thanks in advance

It makes sense - if your digitizer is broken then you can't do anything and your screen won't recognize any your touches.
If you can't see any crack then there might be a software problem.
You have to send your phone to repair company if your digitizer/LCD is cracked nevertheless and there's nothing we can do or suggest

No cracks at all, just one small on the glass on the backside, but that's been there for like one year longer then the broken digitizer.
Got any ideas how this could've happened then? Just laying completely still, no special warmth nor coldness, no liquid touching it or anything. It just stopped working.
Might be one of natures greatest mysteriums

No, I have not. This would be the absolutely the last exit, since I have important data on the device.
Anyway, i left it to a guy who'd change the display for me, getting it tomorrow again.
Thanks for the responds tho!
