any icon over there barely response and looks like a defect to me.
anyone else had such issue and how to fix it?
i had done

if it s since software upgrading then do Repair Firmware By PC Companion app.
but if u dropped it or any water damage take it to service center
:good:

Looks like it's a hardware problem, take it to the service center for screen replacement. But repair by yourself would cost less, here are the guides and part for reference:

[Q] dead zone on touch screen

hi,
i have a dead zone in the upper part of the touch screen, i have found multiple references to problems with touch scree, but i discovered that my issue is in software not in hardware.
if i run a diagnostics in settings->about phone>diagnostics->test->touchscreen everything works and i am able to clean whole display, so hw works, but no application including system is not able to use a rectangle with y=<150,280>
i also enabled developer options->show touches and the problem is probably in api, dead zone is there too, so no wonder that all apps have a problem.
i dont know when this problem started, but i am sure it was after 5.x upgrade
any ideas?
My phone has a similar issue, and I have only noticed after updating to lollipop too. In my case, the screen does not recognize touches in a portion of the notification bar. After trying a lot of solutions, including repairing using FTF and PC Companion, I tried to downgrade to Kitkat. Although the notification bar worked normally, testing through the service tests menu (type *#*#7378423#*#* in dialer) revealed the problem was still there, but the area affected was a bit smaller, what explained why I could lower the notification bar again.
I believe this is a hardware issue. What makes you able to wipe the screen through the diagnostics menu is the fact that the area you can wipe is large, so when you swipe near the affected area, it wipes a larger area around it.
I've attached some screenshots showing what I got using the touch screen test (service tests menu).
I also found someone with a similar issue in another thread:

My phone's still under warranty, I will contact them in the next weeks. If I can get any news I will post it here.
Sometimes when I turn on my phone the upper part of the screen doesn't work as well. Usually, turning the screen off and on again makes it go back to normal.
I don't think it's a hardware issue because I had my phone replaced (not because of this) and the problem persists. It doesn't bother me that much, however.
for last few days I m unable to swipe down the notification bar,its unresponsive over the whole notification bar. I cant even clear that zone while running the diagnostic test. please reply who has solution. I m really tensed. I don't have any warranty.
Have the same problem here. Does anyone already found a solution ?
Iam having the same problem on more than one place of the screen. Any solution?
Same Problem - Top half not working
I have about the same problem as the whole top half of the screen is unresponsive. Had it for about 3 weeks when it suddenly happened. Sent it away for repair about two weeks ago, still waiting on the outcome.
Hello, exactly the same problem with my Z3 Compact, I am sending it for repair next monday. Any updates from you guys?

In this case it s possible to have software issue
so install PC Companion and use Update option and then Repair Firmware to wipe ur phone and install fresh firmware
if problem remains take it to service center for faulty touch screen
:good:
I Have the same issue after update with pc companion 23.4.A.1.200
Reinstalling the software didn't fix the problem in my case. If so many people have this issue i'd say it's about the built quality.
I got this issue in my device also. Just paid attention to it today. Sometimes it works fine, but sometimes no. I tried the test from diagnostics in the phone me, and sometimes i couldn't reach the upper area, around 1-2 millimeter width, but sometimes it works fine also in the test. I didn't perform any software upgrades, the phone has build 23.4.A.0.546, Android 5.1.1. May be it can be solved with any screen calibration? Any ideas will be appreciated...
I've recorded screen video, so you can see the problem area: https://youtu.be/rfn4j1yGluU
Thank you
Same problem. My device is d5833 brought in Australia last Christmas day. The problem occur three ago with the build 23.4.a.1.200. It wasn't fixed if upgrading to build 23.4.a.1.232 or wiped all to reset.
This evening my another d5833 also had the same problem with the build 23.4.A.0.546. I brought them on the same day.
I no sure if the android 5.1 cause this problem, but everything is ok before I upgraded. Probably the screen sensor was broken by the upgrades .
I have contacted the store, where i bought my device (www.clove.co.uk), and they will take care of sending it to Sony service center and repairing under warranty.
I also read about this issue on other forums, it looks like hardware problem, which can be fixed by touchscreen replacing.
I sent mine back to the store (handtec.co.uk) aswell. They are currently taking care of it. Anyway, I was told that I will be able to track the progress online, but I don't see the device in my account. Tried to contact them few times, so far they told me twice that the device was already sent back to me, and once that they have just received it back from repair. Opened a ticked, current status is "your item is booked with the manufacturer as soon as we got any information regarding your item from manufacturer we will update you via email". Let's see how it goes.
If you're rooted, reboot into recovery and wipe dalvik & cache (you don't lose any data or settings)... problem solved!

Mine is also not rooted, and made entry in Sony for repair on 02/10, so far no response on the status.

Touchscreen works w/one N6 logic board but not the other - bad logic board or?

Hope someone has an easy fix-
I have a known good touchscreen and digitizer for the Nexus 6. now I have a logic board / motherboard that works with it fine, and another logic board that when mounted, gets no touchscreen functionality at all but everything else seemingly works ok. Neither board has been rooted or flashed or unlocked.
Now the board with a problem, was removed from a phone and the owner swears the touchscreen was working before.
So, is the board with the issue clearly bad i.e. something happened to damage the touchscreen functionality after it was removed from the phone it was working in, or is it something that let's say would be cured by a reflashing of firmware (factory reset, clearing cache, etc does not fix the issue), which technically the bootloader is locked and I can't do anyway... ?
Just trying to see if there's something I'm missing before calling the board faulty. Thanks.

I would imagine that the screen is bad. Most touch screens are very sensitive... Its likely that it got broke in the swap.

Note 8 Screen suddendly turn full flicker green !

Hello Guys !
I have a big massive Problem with my Note 8 SM-N950F.
I was watching Youtube and my Phone has worked fine no Problem no Green Screen till suddendly my Screen went full Green Flickering mode and I dont know what the Reason is. I restarted the Phone and it worked again no problem for 30min then it went back to Green flickering screen.
I have try : Restore the Phone as New completly Wipe out / Result = Negative
Installed a Custom Rom / Result = Negative
I did not dropped the Phone nor does it has a Water Damage.
The Green Flickering screen only comes when Im in the System but while I am on TWRP it never shows up so I think it has something to do with the system and not Hardware.
Problem still there still need a Help

A full wipe and flashing the latest official firmware usually solves non-hardware issues. If you tried that and the issue is still there, then it sounds like a hardware issue that would need repair (hopefully within warranty).

Motherboards can be faulty, etc. It doesn't have to be caused by the user. If you flash stock with full wipe and the issue persists then the only remaining variable is hardware. Either that or maybe you didn't do the full wipe when flashing latest firmware. Not sure what else to suggest beyond those two possibilities. Hope you get it working.
I had this also on my N950F. It happened very suddenly while I was using it:-
* Greenish tint
* Reduced brightness capability
* Flickering
* ~half-inch border of more intense tinting on all four sides
Cut a long story short - couldn't fix it with a complete factory reset.
Today, the problem has suddenly disappeared and the screen is perfect after four days with this issue. Just out of the blue - screen back to normal.
I'm guessing it was either a dodgy board connection which righted itself, or a temporary light sensor issue.
it is a hardware fault relating to the lcd. this is usually seen when the phone has been dropped. and is a broken lcd. i know its stated it wasnt dropped but that is the issue

Utter nonsense. It hasn't been dropped and it doesn't have an LCD screen. Know-it-alls spoil it for others by making unfounded comments.

Yes, that's it, if not droped, then a faulty screen, just like that, many people wish that all problems can be fixed by some trick, clever app or hidden setting, but, in true, a very little number of troubles are fixed this way, so my advice would be to take the device to an authorized samsung service center

Be nice to people trying to help you.
There is two causes to this. Software or hardware. Next time it happens try screen capture. If appears on screen shot it's software buggy. Although highly unlikely but if it does usually a reboot or factory reset solves it.
Other more likely scenario is hardware. If you used a crt tv you'll know as its the same symtom of failing picture tube.
And it's definitely not connector issue.

Screen Flickering

Hey guys
I have a very strange problem with my Huawei P10
About 2 weeks ago, I noticed that two purple horizontal stripes are appearing in a 3-4sec sequence
Normally, I would immediately ask for a repair, but there's a thing which persecutes me: it only happens when I don't touch the screen for longer than 3-4sec
When there's a continuous contact with the screen (e.g when writing a message) nothing happens, everything is fine and dandy, but whenever I leave the screen for itself for 3 or more seconds (e.g when watching a movie), the stripes start to appear every few seconds, and continue until the screen goes dark or until I touch it again, but after touching it it still takes only a few seconds for the stripes to sequentially flicker again
Here's what I've tried so far (no result):
- safe mode
- factory reset
- cache partition wiping
- cord input deep clean
What may be the reason?
Hey.
It's 100% a board or Display issue. send it for repairs. but i believe maybe you've dropped ur phone. Anyways Huawei knows better.

It's quite complicated
I once dropped it, but even after that, the previous LCD worked fine, there were no errors other than broken glass, so I guess we could exclude a board issue and lean toward your second option, as now that the LCD has been replaced, the fault occurs
What's more, I noticed that if I press the Home Key, and then put my finger in the bottom right corner and hold it, I can still use the whole LCD space without the flickering (I need to press the Home Key first so that it works after I hold my finger in the corner)
It's like the LCD needs to be in contact with your finger all the time to avoid that, which has led me to an idea: would a tempered glass solve that maybe?

I can't really answer for sure but i believe if there's a Huawei service center in your city and you try to fix ur broken huawei, your wasting your time. Whatever solution u apply on ur phone its just gonna be temporary since u hide your problem and not solved it.

I still think (or should I say believe ) that there's a solution which doesn't involve another screen replacement
As for your "temporary solution" mention, I guess if I found one, it wouldn't be temporary, since the fault doesn't progress, it's been the same for a month or so when it first occured, which gives me another reason not to replace the screen and keep looking for other possibilities
I don't need a Huawei service center, I can replace the LCD myself (didn't do that the first time though), but it still involves spending money, whereas I've been looking for unpaid solutions the whole time; getting a new LCD is an extremity

You can ask them to diagnose it and tell you about problem noone makes you pay for a lcd. And after reading your message over and over (And since i repair TVs and everything with electronics inside) i think it also can be your touch or display controller ic. Mostly it could be from touch ic since screen works fine while its in touch with something. But someone has to try your lcd or mb on a healthy one to make sure. which you can't do nothing like that. or do you?
@fengels did You bought original lcd, where can I buy it in good price?
I know this problem from older galaxy series like s5. The fix for this most of the time was disable auto brightness or higher the brightness on auto brightness. Don't know if this is the same problem, but it could be a try. Also don't know which cause this strange problem. Hope it can help you

No, it's a different problem, in the galaxy series the whole screen would flicker, whereas in my P10 it's only 2 horizontal stripes appearing in a 4-5 sec sequence whenever I leave the screen untouched for longer than 5sec
Playing around with the brightness doesn't solve that unfortunately, actually no in-device settings do, as I've tried almost every single option which is screen-related, like switching the eye comfort mode on, but still no result
The main reason why I'm still looking for an unpaid solution is that apart from this one error, the phone is like brand new, everything works fine
ok, so if I understad the problem shows up after you replaced the LCD display? So do you really think is more software related than hardware? I personally would send it to diagnose and repair.

The thing is it didn't show up immediately, I had used the phone for some time with no errors before it first occured
Also, since the new LCD was set, I haven't done any physical damage to it, I've never dropped or sunk the phone
Since you guys mostly advise me to send it, I guess that's what I will have to do

While you were replacing screen, did you turn your device off and disconnect the battery? and i think cleaning all cables coming from LCD and related sockets on motherboard can help. Use thinner or alcohol and if you wanna use thinner be careful so it wouldn't touch anything except golden contacts. Thinner is dangerous and affects ur phone color and plastic parts.

I did turn the device off, but I didn't take the battery off, since it's strongly glued to the phone's body, and I didn't want to damage it
Anyway, could not taking the battery off really be the reason?
As for cleaning, I did it by simply blowing out all the potential dirt, I'm inexperienced in thinner and alcohol cleaning

I am not sure butbon some phones it damages screen. I've seen this on laptops. But anyways its done. Open ur phone and use alcohol. put 2 drops of alcohol on each socket and flat cable connectors and brush it with a soft brush. u don't want to bent any golden contact. It's last thing u can do to fix it without paying for hardware related stuff.

air triggers issue

Hey guys, I've got some weird problem with air triggers for a while now..
The right trigger can be activated somehow without touching it specifically, but even if I tough the back panel of the device.. It's a bit hard to explain, but you can see it well in here:
https://photos.app.goo.gl/PZZar4gMKZdYChqdA
Is it a defect in the device? Cause it didn't happen when u got it
Bought it from giztop back in October.
No one encountered this problem?

I do sometimes have higher than normal sensitivity with my right air trigger, but it has not been as bad as what you show in your video.
My theory would be that something is getting in the way of the contacts in your air trigger. Are you able to get some compressed air and lightly blow into your headphone jack and shake the phone a bit to see if it comes loose and fixes the issue?
I encountered the same problem as you, and later sent it to the original factory to say it was a screen problem, because I bought the Tencent version and it took nearly 170 usd to change the entire screen panel.
Personally think that it is a quality problem, and some users of the standard version have encountered similar situations. The warranty should be sent to the original factory without charge.
Yes. I am also having the same issue. Need to check with service center.
Workaround solution. User dual partition. If you use it for PUBG or Freefire put the left partition to the empty place and the right partition to the appropriate button. Also make left partition touch as 1 times. This fixed the problem of miss triggering the button. Hope it works for you.
