Hi everybody!
I have just rebooted my MotoG 2nd gen while USB connected and suddenly on the pc a new drive (but empty) appeared!!
The phone has not booted but shows a recharging battery.
I was, for a few seconds, more than happy to find out a way to expose the SD as a real disk instead of that stupid MPT way to exchange data; but the disk is shown as "no media".
What is this dummy disk?? Here you are some data I have dumped for it

I have acquired a Casio pocket PC with fairly upto date hardware, but it comes with Pocket PC 2003 SE, the hardware is pasted in below.
I guess what i really want to know is can a generic WM6 build be flashed on this casio?

It would be very cool if I could manipulate my Nexus One usb port's signal to 5V and 0V from an app directly. It would allow controlling simple motors without any usb protocol.
I think the lowest possible level of usb access in the android source code are these lines (IUsbManager.java):
Code:
private static final java.lang.String DESCRIPTOR = "android.hardware.usb.IUsbManager";
<...>
android.os.IInterface iin = (android.os.IInterface)obj.queryLocalInterface(DESCRIPTOR);
You can find that here: bit.ly/IlUzV0
So I'm sure you have to go deeper than that. I'm asking for any guidance towards developing this. How do I go about exploring the kernel code? Can I even do that?
You can explore kernel code, but I'm not sure you have access to USB stack other than in pre-compiled .so form. You'll need to substitute the USB stack and control the signals directly through capabilities of USB Link (peripheral). Theoretically it's possible, practically - unless you're an experienced SW/HW engineer, have the QSD8x50 manual in possession and are able to write a kernel-space driver that will be able to go "under the stack" (much like USB driver of various Virtual Machines on Windows, namely VMWare) - I don't think so.
Hey guys,
My laptop is acting all stupid and giving me issues after about 5 years, i honestly dont need one any way and would rather have a desktop. I want to build my own and see what i can get but im honestly no computer expert by any means. This is something i put together on ibuypower for what i believe i need. I dont game alot on my computers but i do play WoW and might get a few other games to pass the time but i dont know right now, all i want to do is hook up my computer to my tv for games and movies and have it run well.
any info on what i need or dont need would be awesome, a thanks for everyone who posts.

Wow that giant copy paste is ummmm....
Anyway, if you care about heat and power at all, go Intel.
Bulldozer especially uses a lot of power.
My Phenom II is ok as far as heat and power go, but Intel CPUs run A LOT cooler.

Sadly though, our device ID is 05c6:f006 as proven by the HTC forum, it is not unbrickable just yet. But we can do this.

Yeah, I would try unlocking the bootloader... That trick worked quite well on my OG Atrix with a hard brick.. Can't hurt to try if you can get into fastboot.

Hey buddy, let me know if you managed to repair your Motorola and if so how?
I have been trying, a handful of times per year since I first bought it (in 2017), to flash a ROM or even transfer files from my Moto X4 to/from a computer (KDE Connect works for file transfer, but is only available to Linux, and I sometimes need to transfer to a Windows machine. Sometimes, but not always, files can be transferred by bluetooth.)
I have tried the following with all of the following computer operating systems and with multiple USB data cables (Yes. I have purchased cables claiming specifically to be 'data' cables just for this purpose):
- Linux
- Ubuntu 16, 18, 20 (aarch64 and x86_64)
- Manjaro (x86_64)
- Fedora 24 (aarch64 and x86_64)
- Clear Linux,
- Antix (x86 and x86_64)
- Debian Buster (aarch64 and x86_64)
- Armbian
- Qubes 3.5, 4.0 (x86_64)
- Windows 10 without Moto USB drivers
- also in a KVM-mounted virtual machine with USB passthrough
- also in a VirtualBox virtual machine with USB passthrough
- Windows 10 with Moto USB drivers
- also in a KVM-mounted virtual machine with USB passthrough
- also in a VirtualBox virtual machine with USB passthrough
- MacOS (version unknown)
- Haiku R1B2 (x86_64)(no ADB/fastboot)
- RiscOS (aarch64)(no ADB/fastboot)
- FreeDOS (x86_64)(no ADB/fastboot)
I have tried to connect:
- Normal user mode after long periods of use.
- Normal user mode after a short period of use.
- Safe Mode
- immediately following a factory reset (internal)
- immediately following a factory reset (external)
- Android 8 (as shipped)
- Android 9 (as updated)
When plugged into a charging brick, I briefly get the notice that TurboPower(TM) is connected.
When plugged into a computer USB port,
- the battery icon indicates charging,
- no USB options appear in notifications area,
- computer does not recognize a USB storage device is connected.
In Settings (USB Preferences), all options are greyed out. This is true regardless of Developer Mode USB Debugging and USB default-mode settings.
On computer, `adb devices` shows no devices when connected.
On computer, `fastboot` gets stuck in a loop waiting for devices.
When connected to a computer while booted to the bootloader, the screen indicates that it is USB connected.
When plugging in a USB thumb drive, the phone recognizes the external storage device (up to 32GB, then it fails to detect anything.)
My device is hardware version p4, Model XT1900-1, software variant google_fi.
How do I connect this thing to a computer?
====
I spoke to Motorola tech support this morning. They think I have a hardware fault. I want to disagree because I can read and write to USB storage devices via the data port, and the bootloader recognizes a USB connection even though the attached computer does not.
Were all these attempts on the same computer, or worse, on the same USB port? I've had similar issues when connecting to certain usb ports on my desktop. I have an old thinkpad x230 with a usb 2.0 port that works reliably, but the usb 2.0 ports on my desktop doesn't. In my experience the usb port you use matters more than the operating system. If you can, try a different computer?
I'm wondering if you ever got anywhere with this. I'm finding the same issue on my Moto X4. Same Model and software variant.

====
I spoke to Motorola tech support this morning. They think I have a hardware fault. I want to disagree because I can read and write to USB storage devices via the data port, and the bootloader recognizes a USB connection even though the attached computer does not.

Pls I have window 10 iso ... Any time is install it ..it comes with Mozilla Firefox and other apps too.. I want to know how they did it... So that I can do the same by all my necessary application... Pls help me
Whenever I first tried to flash ROM's on my phone, use the fastboot and ADB commands and tried to transfer files on my windows 10 PC, I was running into all kinds of road blocks, after researching the issue further I found that adb and fastboot don't work properly on a computer connected to a USB 3 port, so an older style USB port is necessary for things to work, however I have a rather new computer that doesn't have the older style USB ports, so in order to get around that I bough a USB 2.0 hub and connected the Hub to a usb 3.0 connection and then connected the phone to the usb 2 hub and after that things worked just fine.
