The NS looks slick as hell naked, no question there. But I'm terrified to set the thing down because the back is so glossy and plasticity. Hope somebody makes a nice rubberized door for it like the EVO has. Because I HATE cases.
Ditto.... I already have a few small scratches
Get some rubberized stain spray paint from lowes/home depot.
Sand, spray, enjoy.

If you can't handle a spray can properly, that's kinda depressing.
This is actually not a bad idea. You could use Plasti-dip for this. Just spray the 1st coat. Let it dry than spray another. I say spray about 4 coats and once its dry it will be matte black in color and provide you a nice grip and the best thing is that it will peel right off cause it dries as plastic!. I might actually do this. I have a few can's left from using on my car. (Available at Home Depot and probably lowes)

Even if you spray it evenly, the resulting back cover will not be flush with the rest of the phone. Do you have any pictures of a DIY job that looks good? I know people have tried with the other Galaxy S phones (Captivate excluded) but I haven't seen any that look that good IMO.
The back will cost 5-10$ to replace... Don't worry so much

Obviously, but have you seen pictures where it didn't look like a DIY POS like the person said? You end up having a nice phone with an ugly back cover that is not flush with the sides of the phone. If you have seen a good DIY job, show some pics like I said so we can see what it looks like. What is acceptable looking to you may not be to others.
The PlastiDip looks quite nice, and I am very picky. I also like the grip. The stock case is ugly...too glossy, a fingerprint magnet, and slippery to the point where I nearly drop the phone.
My Nexus S is currently my only camera so I can't post any decent photos of the completed cover on the phone, but I'll post some later when my girlfriend gets home. I'm sure the majority of you will be pleasantly surprised at the results.
Here's a shot I took after applying the second coat.

It's gonna cost a little more than $5. The Nexus S has a NFC antenna molded into the rear cover, along with some connection points that allow it to interface with the phone.
I doubt that you could find a back for a SGS for $5, much less a NS.
My $.02

It's not molded in, it's an printed circuit on an vinyl base with adhesive, that is stuck to the inside of the cover.
Also NFC/RFID are dirt cheap to produce.

Looking forward to seeing the final pictures. I will probably end up trying the PlastiDip route if it looks okay. Did you have to do anything to prep the cover before you sprayed it like sanding?

I have had a O2X for a month. Actually, O2X's screen looks like a Gorilla Glass but I haven't really believed. Is it true?
And this applies to all O2X phones?
Well I guess I can rip of the "screen protector" that came preinstalled on the phone now!
Actually I would like to have confimed that the P990 has it and not just the Korean version!!! We'll probably never get that though...
for all of you that need proff, head over to this youtube video to see a daring owner put it to the test
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mt4hi_lIfmI
That was obviously the P990 model in the video.
Now I'm happy, I can let my O2X go totally commando in confidence.
ok that's indeed painfull to watch haha. i personally wouldnt remove the preapplied screenprotector. But it's nice to know the phone can handle some abuse.
screen protector just ripped of and gained a lot of confidence!
You do realise metal cannot scratch minerals(Glass)
Use some minerals and enjoy the scratches
Screen protectors are useless
Gorilla glass is a marketing trick
Using an old N82 now
Impervious to a razorblade

http://anythingbutipod.com/2009/04/glass-screen-durability-test-a-lesson-on-the-mohs-hardness-scale/
Harder materials will scratch softer materials.
Basically:
Sand > Gorilla Glass > Metal > 'Standard' Glass
So if you take the 2X with you to a beach it may become scratched.
A cursory Google search brought up this: http://androidforums.com/motorola-droid/45812-has-anyone-scratched-their-gorilla-glass.html
I dont know if this ever got settled but this is what i found.

I had an HTC Incredible 2 before...but the screen never get scratched even with key's on it. Maybe Google or LG needs under investigated for product quality and standard. gawd.

Its all your fault for being careless, accident is being careless. I've owned several smartphones and none gotten a scratch because first thing you do is have screen protector installed by professional or you. Second, have a dedicated pocket for your phone and nothing else go to that pocket except your phone. Third, body armor like a tpu gel case or hybrid case, I prefer hybrid for max protection. Fourth and last, be responsible and never blame a product because of your stupidity.
By the way, Gorilla Glass will get scratched. It is not 100% scratch proof.

Hold on there a second. Are we talking about the same camera lens covers? Like DSLR lens covers? You know, plastic round thingies? Those can never scratch a glass, never mind the Gorilla Glass. I mean "technically" if you find a spot of the lens cover that is sharp (I have Nikons and they don't have sharp edges for instance, cause that'd be stupid, you cover the lens of a 1000$ barrel. No sane person would made them SHARP) and push it really hard towards normal glass, I guess you can make micro scratches. But you do that to Gorilla Glass, no way. Plastic is way softer than Gorilla. What you are saying doesn't make sense. Either you had the scratches prior to the instance or you had other stuff in your pocket, like sand.

Scratch resistant not scratch immune.
Happens to all Gorilla Glasses.
But there are always careless users that manage to scratch it.
Gorilla Glass 3 is said to be more resistant.
The Glass is by Corning, not LG.

I was gonna change it because mine was getting scratched up but I fell in love with the bare glass.
I signed a 13xx contract so I am hoping I get 1371 Combat Engineer. The physical part won't be a problem for me, I'm in pretty good shape for the most part. 18 pullups, 105 crunches, and I can probably do the 3 miles in 21min if I really push myself. I'm in my last year of JROTC and it has helped me out, even got me contract PFC. Drill shouldn't be a problem but no matter what, bootcamp is gonna suck. Haha. Hi!
This isnt a specific Nexus 6 problem, more of a gorilla glass issue in general. Im picky with my phones and handle them with great care to avoid scratches and such. Still I have managed to get a big visible scratch in my 2 month old Nexus 6. Im so tired of this gorilla glass bull****. It is supposed to be so durable and scratch resistant, still the phone get scratches by only looking at it. Gorilla glass is nothing more than a gimmick. Wish the phone manufacturers could abandon this and go for something that actually is scratch resistant.
Br J
Gorilla glass isn't scratch resistant. Sure its strong against bigger items like knife blades or scissors but you cannot protect it against small grains such as sand, dust or whatever. If you thought this, then you've been mistaken.
why don't you have a screen protector on it. If you are as picky as I am about mine. I have always used one. Fine particles will scratch almost anything

HTC Hero didn't even have glass. It was plastic. Cost me £12 to replace that and the digitiser
From everything I've read, sapphire glass is indeed more brittle than gorilla glass.
Seen some on ebay for $1-5. They cover just the lens. Past phones notice scratches on lens at the end of life. Guess wouldn't hurt to have one. Just curious if anybody ever used them before? Ordered one myself just now.
Yes, I've got a cheap one from AliExpress. In fact it was a pack of 5.
The problem I found with them is that the flash interferes with the camera when the protector is applied, and you get a washed out picture. I fixed this by trimming the protector so it doesn't cover the flash. That means that the flash isn't protected, but it isn't the end of the world if that area gets scratched.
I got a two pack off ebay, haven't noticed any issues with my picture quality and stuff. Though I don't think I've used flash yet so not sure if that's an issue.

Same question to you as above. Cases fit fine with them these lens protectors on?
I can't imagine them interfering with cases - mine is very thin, and only sits on the inner glass itself, and not the surrounding frame. No case will come close to touching it, in my opinion.
