[Q] Which firmware is batter for Xperia Z? - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Since Sony push Android 5.0 for our Xperia Z,It has become hotter than before. The battery life is worse...too
What's more,the camera quality isn't good in Xperia Z
Althogh 5.0's design is beautiful,I think a stable and usful firmware is more needed
Between 4.2 and 4.3,I don't know which is better for daily use(stable network, long battery life and better camera quality)
please give me some advice, thanks for your help =)

I recommend you to use 5.0.2 with clean install (complete wipe and factory reset). My phone is faster and my battery is better then kitkat. Lollipop is worse then kitkat only when you don't use clean install.

Clean install with flashtool with factory reset and wipe. After that root, remove all bloatware, install greenify and zombie kernel. I got 4 hours SoT without problems.

Flashing full ftf is the way to go, and if the bootloader is unlocked I would highly recommend Zombie kernel.
Otherwise, I would downgrade to stock 4.2 and don't complain about not having the fancy AR effect and theming.

Of course Lollipop... For its buttery smoothness...
If u has issues with battery nd heat problem...
Do clean install...
Use greenify or Amplify for better battery backup...
U can also use Cooler master app to cool.down ur phone by killing unwanted apps

I tried lot of different ROMs on SP which includes MIUI, CM11, existenz, etc, etc but after 2-3 days of using always have one or more than one problem mentioned above! So I just flashed stock Jb 4.3 and Disabled lot of debloated apps from the Setting>Apps. Installed CLEAN MASTER app. Since the stock is best stable ROM therefore best battery backup no random reboot. Now waiting for the new firmware update for JB 4.3 which has already been released. I hope we are going to get it very soon and going to get a better performance! :good:
Please try Ultimate PureXSP and Ultimate BlackXSP
IMO Stock 4.1.2 is still fastest, just debloat it and it's perfect. I rather stay this and wait fixed 4.3 from Sony.

I found this in the Doomkernel post :
Xperia SP [C5302/C5303/C5306]
stock JellyBean 4.3 FW
.266 - v05, v05-new, v06
stock JellyBean 4.1.2 FW
.245/254- v02, v03, v04
.284- v01
bootloader unlocked
working fastboot
android app for overclocking like SetCPU (paid) or NoFrills CPU Control (free)
so how I can flash it and my phone is on LB ?
yes stock 4.3 got bugs but atleast the camera quality is far better then 4.1.2 whenever I install custom ROM or kernel to my Xperia SP its a kind of unstable i can't even run the full antutu benchmark it reboots at 21% no matter on what custom ROM/kernel i am running :crying: and system reboots frequently. Therefore, Now i flashed the stock 4.3 australia firmware and locked the bootloader now atleast i can run full antutu benchmark now matter how many times i run it! thats why stock is best with disabled debloated apps and obviously no Facebook app also!

[Q] Xperia SP touchscreen slowly problem

I often use xperia sp play puzzle & dragons and summonboards.
But sometimes when i play PAD ,the touchscreen's reflection is slow.
The impact is more serious when i play this game....
Reboot the phone can temporarily deal this problem, but it's not the best solution.
I used to flash eXistenZ 4.0.0 (JB), and play PAD must disable superSU. so i often enable and disable superSU.
The touchscreen reflection slow problem is more serious in this rom.
Now i use stock rom which verision is android 4.3. i used to root this because i need to use titanium backup restore my data.
The status is better than i use eXistenZ rom.
Does any good solution can deal this problem now? thank you. (sorry for my bad english)

Try to change your kernel. I suggest flash DooMKerneL for Xperia SP and then come back
You're most likely running out of RAM memory due to a big amount of bloatware that's running in the background.
Try removing apps that you do not use and greenify others that can be hibernated.
Social apps like facebook are known to consume ALLOT of RAM memory.

Thanks a lot!!

Stock 5.1.1 is the best right now. Latest version and very stable. Great battery life too. I used to flash a lot of custom ROMs, but now stock with root seems good enough
I downgraded from 5.1.2 to 4.4.4 108 and am having a lot of fun
The phome is more responsive
More stable
Better battery life
Better camera quality
Less bugs
More mods and tweaks
The only cons is its not smooth like android lollipop
If u didnt use lollipop before, u wont notice the little stutter on kitkat
I use 5.0 stock rom. Its smooth everything is fine. But camera is not much clear and bettery life is around 4 to 5 hours.. What is yous bettery life??

Best marshmallow ROM for battery life?

I feel like I should be able to find this easily on my own but I'm having more trouble than I anticipated. I've been trying tons of note 7 Roms with no luck battery life wise. At this point I'm looking for any type of ROM that has great duration as long as it's marshmallow.

xposed pretty much works with odexed marshmallow stock firmware you dont need deodexed roms.
On lollipop required deodexed roms for xposed.
I am on stock pk2 n910t latest firmware and xposed works without any issues.

I am on Pk2 latest bl\modem i am using stock official firmware but i am rooted with twrp and xposed works just fine on stock rom.i am not using any deodexed rom.
I uninstalled as many built in apps as possible and i got 5hours SOT.
SOT depends on your usage i am always on wifi if i use mobile data the dafinetly i will get less SOT.
brightness always less then 25℅,black wallpaper for homescreen and lockscreen to save GPU energy.
While my device in pocket i always turn on powersaving mode to make cpu deep sleep and hibernate apps by greenify.
By this steps you will get preety good battery life.

Yep absolutely.
You have 2 choices
1st choice ,if you want stock 4.4.4 kitkat then flash N910T2 firmware in odin and do wipe data factory reset after flash .you will be on stock kitkat 100%.
2nd choice, if you want rooted roms like dynamic kat or firekat then you have to flash 5.1.1 OK1 firmware then flash twrp recovery after that from twrp flash any kitkat rom you wish but must flash nadia kernel with kitkat rom otherwise you may stuck on samsung logo because you are on lollipop bl/modem.
Nadia Kernel 4.4.4 is in link below.
https://mega.nz/#!accnkb6B!f_wdM79WXZ2UYy2El87DXYctihB40MBjV4imBKlhoDo
I will not recommend youto go back to kitkat because many apps and games required 5.0 or higher these days kitkat is almost dead but if you will use as basic phone chatting, media etc then its fine.i just noticed that even youtube does not support 1440p/1080p videos on kitkat and there is no option to change quality.
after all its your device and do as you wish i am here to help.
N910T2 stock nonrooted firmware link below
Extract and flash in odin.

So I grabbed a stock deodexed marshmallow ROM for a week or two and it is surprisingly by far the worst battery life I've ever had heh. I get like 1.5 hrs sot and I have to recharge almost twice a day.
Are there any suggestions? Both for other Roms or for fixing a stock ROM battery life?
Go back to 4.4.4. I get 7+ hours SOT. I never went to MM as I bought a 6P last Feb. I'm getting my Note 4 ready for my mom as shes moving to T-Mobile. After reading a bunch the last day or so it sounds like to much BS going on with any updates above 4.4.4. I remember 5.0 and 5.0.1 were destroying battery life which is why I never updated and 6.01 sounds like to much of a strain or wast optimized properly for the Note 4.
It works like this
Kitkat best battery life but a little choppy and some apps dont work because it to old
Lolopop 5.1.1 (not 5.0.1) is very smoth and has good battery life, but not as good as kitkat.
Marshmelow is the smoothest but has horrible battery life no matter the rom or what you do.
I tried absolutely everything and come to the conclusión that stock 5.1.1. With root + greenify y by far the option. Everything works great and i have about 5 hours sot without having to compromise anything.
I am alzó trying an app that puts the phone in 1080 but still dont know if it makes a diference or not. (ir runs cooler)

For out a few bucks for a extended battery .....I'm on 5.1.1 and running one of tekhd ROMs with a 10000 mha battery and life's good

which ROM is best for Z3c? (camera is 1st priority)

i'm using Slim 6.0.1 right now the battery drains so quickly.
i may consider to go back to Slim 5.0.1 or 5.1.1.
which ROM has the best camera, good performance & okay battery? (for locked boot-loader)
do you think experience rom is better than AOXP & Slimm?
thanks in advance for any advice.

Well yeah it does require unlocked bootloader, but you still get stock like quality, maybe better, and it is like you didn't even lose DRM keys.
Using the same Xperience Rom with Cyberian camera, runs great and Cyberian camera really improves the Z3 Compact camera. Battery is very good, close to 5.1.1 but going to try tweaking some things to improve it more. Possibly use Amplify or Power Nap Xposed modules.

In my opinion, the 4.4.4 stock have some bugs in the App, less options, but, Indisputably, the best post processing. Lighter and prettiest than others.

When I said 4.4.4, i think I can tell about all stock based roms, with original keys.
I understud yu, but today I use the KitKat with all the apps I need (include snapchat with the same filters than 6.0; youtube with background playback; a beta launcher; a beta music player... etc... all the apps...). And probably I can do this with a 4.1.2 too, with a older smarphone.
Whatever, a day I will be forced to go to xperience or lineageos too, but today, i stay with my kitkat.
PS:
Material design sucks.
Xperience Rom's battery drains quite quickly when i use music app.
(music app itself consumes more than anything else, even more than screen).
anyone face similar situation?
