LG G4 work with Verizon or any other carriers? - Sprint LG G4

I am wondering if my Sprint LG G4 model LGLS991 will work with Verizon or any other carriers if I unlock the phone?

Wondering the same unlocked mine already.

It will never work, Verzion will never activate a sprint phone and sprint will never activate a verzion phone. Radio's, compatiblity -- none of that matters. Phones are tied to specific carriers (CDMA only) when they are sold and there's nothing we can do to change that.

I guess that answers my question. But I have seen people saying they have used a sprint phone on verizon.

I know sprint phones won't work on Verizon just curious if lte compatibility with t mobile or cricket

If you get it unlocked (by sprint), then it'll work on any GSM carrier outside of United States. Even after its unlocked, it'll not work on Domestic GSM carriers.

Because of the frequencies? There are two types of unlocks domestic and international. Mine is unlocked on both.

Sprint will not do a domestic unlock, unless you have access to their back end system that handles unlocks. (even then I don't think its possible). Have you actually tried using an AT&T or TMobile (US Only) sims in your sprint phone? Even if you have the appropriate radio, the carrier lock will prevent it from working on any domestic network.
I know this from a very reliable source inside sprint.
The most sprint will do for you is unlock it for international use granted you are current on your bill and your account is in good standing.

If you own the phone outright they will unlock for domestic use. New law went into effect in February, also wife works for sprint. It was an annoying process but I finally found someone who knew what they were doing. Yes an at&t sim works in the phone.

What about using a sprint phone on Boost or Virgin? Or possibly using a donor phone as was done before laws changed then changed again?

WOW...

Hate to bust your bubble...but it totally depends on the phone. Lol...Nexus 6 works on Verizon, Sprint, US Cellular, ATT, TMobile...u name it it works. and the sweet thing is the US Cellular version comes unlocked. I put every active sim card in it I have and worked just fine, calls texts LTE. Thanks for the info tho.

So you're telling me sprint will activate a verizon phone?
---------- Post added at 12:37 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:54 AM ----------
For those that are still curious go here
http://www.sprint.com/legal/unlocking_policy.html?ECID=vanity:unlock
and here's what you can take away from DSU.
"For inactive devices, customers must contact Sprint Customer Care to request that their DSU-capable device be unlocked and may have to take steps to perform an over-the-air update to ensure the unlock programming has been relayed to the device. Additional validation may be required to ensure eligibility.
Sprint makes no guaranty that an unlocked device will work on another carrier's network. Whether another carrier will accept and activate a device is subject to that carrier's policies and capabilities. Additionally, Sprint devices which the owner has attempted to reprogram or activate on another carrier's network or otherwise altered from its initial programming or settings may not be able to be reactivated on the Sprint network."
So to clarify, even if sprint unlocks your tray, it is more than likely that Verzion WILL NOT activate a sprint phone on their network.

With LTE phones, you don't have to activate anything if you have an active SIM card. Of course, it needs to be unlocked to work on different carriers. My VZW G3 works on Sprint just by popping in a Sprint SIM.

Not true

AT&T Nexus 6 isnt factory unlocked. Lol

Now I remember why I stopped coming to xda.

It's simple: It will never work on another CDMA carrier. Only a select few will work on a domestic GSM carrier; if you have a carrier version that is "unlocked", it will not work on another carrier. It could possible work on Boost or Virgin, since they use Sprint, but YMMV

verizon sim in at&t model

Has anyone attempted to put a Verizon sim in an at&t model?
On the teardown it says it has the radio.
Needs to be SIM unlocked from ATT from what I gather. Chances are pretty low that A. ATT let very many buy one without an ATT account at retail B. They would unlock it to be used on a rival.

Believe me or not, ITS NOT going to work... The phone does not have a CDMA radio, if it did its very pointless as it would only apply to countries like India.
CDMA Carriers like Verizon,Sprint, and U.S.Cellular ONLY ALLOW THERE DEVICES to be used on there network and nothing else.
Its just simply NOT going to work.
IF you look on the back of the AT&T Model do you see an ESN?? No you dont you will only see an IMEI which means it does NOT have a cdma radio in it.

Good info at i fix it said it does. I assume software locked
Didn't mean to incur the wrath of all caps.

The Wrath of all caps! Haha
Anyway Its NOT software locked. Its a limitation as the Verizon Network is NOT gsm. Software or not its not at all possible to use any non verizon phone on the Verizon Network.
Just wanted to thank everyone who took time to comment on this. It was a great help. Sadly I had to move to a Samsung Galaxy 4.
I cry a little on the inside every time I say "Ok Google Now" and it looks at me with that blank stare....

[Q] Sprint Version SIM Unlocked?

I just got off of the phone with a Sprint support rep in the International services department, and according to her the SIM slot in the Sprint version of the Moto X is unlocked from the factory.
Can anyone verify that this is true?
Bump, I'm interested very much too!
Any one confirm this?
Can Any one confirm this?

That's the point, so Americans can use Sprint in the US, but when we travel just pop in an international sim.
Sent from my XT1056 using xda app-developers app
I contacted Sprint support, they said before using it in other networks (gsm/umts) you must activate international service (which unlocks gsm). mine was not activated and here in Russia I'm stuck - phone sees our carriers but can't register. and sprint support can't help me as the phone isn't online on sprint or smth like that. that's such a pain in the ass 'cause I've had a Sprint Photon 4G before and it worked without any "making love"

Interesting. This is the first i've heard of that. There were other reports/posts that if your phone has active sprint service/account, you can call sprint and get the sim unlock code. Nothing was said about needing to just add international service to the account for the phone to be unlocked.
In any case, the moral of the story seems to be what Steve-x posted... If you are NOT a Sprint Customer, don't buy a Sprint X for international use due to all the posts of troubles and what seems to be impossibilities getting them SIM Unlocked (you can't just pop a non-sprint sim in "out of the box", Sprint will only unlock if your their customer, it seems no online services have the unlock codes for sprint moto X, etc).

What carrier for XT1050??

I have a Moto X XT1050. Its suppose to be carrier unlocked but every one i try i get the same, they cant activate.
It was recently activated on Alltel but the were just bought out by at&t. Idk what carrier this phone will work under
Can anyone help??
From what I recall, the XT1050 variant was made for regional CDMA carriers, and is probably SIM and Bootloader locked.
SIM lock will obviously not allow you to use it with a GSM based carrier's SIM. If its supposed to be SIM unlocked, that is another story... please provide specifics of what happens when "they cant activate."
Bootloader lock will prevent you from rooting, and/or flashing other firmware to it.

Verizon will not activate any phones that aren't Verizon branded. That's what the rep. means by "unsupported".
Some CDMA MVNOs may support it, I haven't checked around to see. Chances are T-Mo or AT&T will. As noted by another poster he found a GSM carrier in Indonesia that it works with. Chances are any European carrier will too, but that won't help him at the moment.
At&t won't take it either. I don't get it. What's the point in an unlocked phone if nobody will take it??

Verizon uses the XT1060... IF the listing on Wikipedia are correct, the XT1050 and XT1060 use slightly different frequency for CDMA.

SIM unlocked = Carrier Unlocked yes, at least for GSM carriers. But the GSM carriers might not offer much support getting your device working.
CDMA carriers, like Verizon, might have the GSM side unlocked (i.e. you can pop an ATT or T-Mobile or other SIM in there and use it), but the CDMA side is LOCKED. Sprint, another CDMA carrier, has the GSM side SIM LOCKED on their 2013 X (XT1056)

Verizon doesn't sell the XT1050, so I wouldn't put any faith into what they tell you. If its not a Verizon Branded Xt1060, they will not activate it on their service PERIOD.
Verizon still uses CDMA for voice and 3G data. So even if you put a Verizon 4GLTE SIM in there, it wont work.
The Verizon XT1060 is GSM Unlocked out of the box. (This is due to FCC C-Block Rules), so IF this was a Verizon XT1060, you could put a T-Mobile, ATT, Rogers, etc SIM in there and use the GSM side.
BUT you said this phone is an XT1050. So its not the same.
Good luck.

By all means check with T-Mo. They are trying to get more customers and may be willing to work with you. They tend to be more flexible that AT&T anyway.
Ting uses Sprint (so that may not work for you if there is no coverage) and Cricket uses AT&T, both have BYOD.

I know there are others but these are just off the top of my head.

THe FCC ID on the XT1050 and XT1060 appear to be the same.
I haven't done enough digging to confirm the similarities or differences between the XT1050 and XT1060. As I said earlier, IF the wikipedia entry for the 2013 X is correct, at least the CDMA frequencies are slightly different.
I have seen my Verizon Dev Edition XT1060 list another model at one point when trying to install drivers. (ANd I've always had the stock roms installed.) so I'd just say its a little strange from time to time.
Any querries you can do of the phone right now are all software based, so if you have an XT1050 ROM on the phone, the results would say its an XT1050. If you have a 3rd party ROM on there, you likely wont see an accurate model number.
The best way is... IF the phone has the original Moto back on it.. look for the small, very fine, print at the bottom on the back. Sometimes you have to tilt the phone side to side to get light to reflect off it just right... and If you have eyes like mine, you might need a magnifying glass to read it. It will have the FCC ID and the model number on it.

Hey @KidJoe, guess what? I called the postpaid department of Verizon and the lady told me that since my Moto X was on Alltel last that I could bring it to a store and they can put it in their system. I told her everything i knew about the phone. She said it can NOT be activated on prepaid BUT it can on postpaid. Got that same info from 2 or 3 other online support reps, lol.. So in that case you CAN activate NON verizon phones on Verizon.... oh AND I flashed the Verizon firmware on it and it works great.

Unlocked Sprint LG G4, Can't UpdatePRL or Profile

I bought a LG G4, Sprint from EBay and was planning to register it with ChitChat Mobile. It was coming back as not compatible, so I called Sprint and they told me to have the original owner request to have the phone unlocked. I couldn't get the seller to do this. I assume he was just a re-seller but the phone is not lost or stolen. It can be registered with Sprint, just can't be used with my service provider, ChitChat Mobile. So, I paid for a service to have it unlocked. When I called ChitChat Mobile to try activating it, it came back as compatible this time. We were going through the activation process but it doesn't work to Update Profile or Update PRL.
I am getting this message:"The update could not be completed. Please try again later. If your problem persists, you may need to contact Customer Service"
I've been on the phone with the customer service for two days now(we tried factory and network re-setting) and they finally decided that something is wrong with the phone.
Can somebody help me at least shed a light on what happened here? Is this phone useless now?
I really appreciate any help!

The device might be unlocked for gsm use but cdma side sprint has to to the uicc unlock Before they will let it piggyback on their towers.

Thank you so much for your response! Yes, the phone is unlocked for gsm. I didn't know what any of this means before I started the unlock process. I thought it meant to unlock to any carrier. How is the uicc unlock done and by who? By Sprint? It's so hard to get a live person to talk there LOL and when you do, they are not very interested in helping you to unlock their phone if you're not a customer :/

uicc is through sprint and its impossible seems like
I had the same prob with my sprint g2. Wanted it on straight talk. Had the activation kit. Did my stuff. And would never update prl. Basicly sprint wouldnt. In my opinion couldnt. Unlock it. I already had it gsm unlocked. But wouldnt work i ended up using att gsm sim for straight talk. And worked like a charm. Usally what i come to realize is if a cmda sprint phone is gsm unlocked. Never would work on sprint towers again unless the lock was reinstated. As with most lgs gsm unlock resides in carrier folder. Replacing stock folder relocks and makes sprint work again. Now i may be wrong with that assumption but just my personal expierences throught the years. Have been such. If possible i would insert a gsm sim card to veri y unlocked status and port my number to a gsm prepaid carrier. I am using cricket which bounces of att on my g4 rite now. Other than having to dl a aftermarket mms app to se d or recieve pics. Almost works better than sprints

Unlocked T-Mobile Note 8 on Sprint

I have this same question asked in the T-Mobile forum but wasn't sure if that's the right spot.
I have been reading a lot of different things about doing this with no definitive answer. It looks like, as of recently, it should be as simple as popping in the sprint Sim card and it should work but I want to be sure before hand. Are there any downsides at all about using tmobile Note 8 on Sprint?

To be truthful, there is most likely no downsides of using a Tmobile Samsung Galaxy Note 8 on the Sprint Network. You should be good to go! :good:
It won't work unfortunately. I also believed it was as simple as sticking an Activated Sprint SIM in the T-Mo N8, but Sprint has a different system. Another user was having issues with a VZW N8, so I did some research, and even though hardware wise they are all the exact same phone, Sprints system will only accept IMEIs from Sprint N8s and factory unlocked N8s. An IMEI from any other carrier will not activate.
So glad I have T-Mobile.

There have been others that successfully activates...it will just show a generic pic and some features may not work...otherwise Sprint's byod would be a bust...some iemi's might not be accepted do to contract issues, or being internationally unlocked instead of SIM unlocked...other issues may be the cause as well..but others with ATT, Verizon, and T-Mobile devices have activated on Sprint or other carrier with just a SIM...adding IEMI to Sprint database just ensures working features...although, some have had to use a non-active Sprint IEMI to activate their non-Sprint device...still, less fuss with swapping out to a Sprint or factory unlocked device...good luck

Not according to another Sprint user here. He tried everything and it wouldn't work. Do some research, especially on Reddit. Unless it's an unlocked 950U1 or a Sprint Note 8, it will not activate on their network.
I thought the same as you, until I researched it.

Sprint's website states that BYOD is only accepting IMEIs from the Special Edition of the Note 8...no carrier restrictions...same as S8 and S8+...that restriction may lift after acceptable number of sales of Sprint devices...(1yr later)...but no help now...
Changing imei as I suggested before does not work for Sprint either...just gsm carriers...at least the paid service....and I do research all the time...and if you get a rep that will do it...they can...they just won't because of proprietary sales restrictions...according to Sprint's internal whitesheets...more reliable than online blogs...I have gotten Sprint to Activate a Verizon S7 edge when they weren't supposed to...you just have to go through hoops....they are picky with newer devices though...power with persuasion....
If anyone is still wondering, if you flash the (all carrier no bloat ware) unlocked version of the Note 8 firmware it will work with Sprint. You just need a compatible Sprint sim card. That sim card model number needed is 416Q, same as Galaxy S8 sim.

Awesome
I did read Reddit , posts were from January I think.,and still no solid answer. The byod website says my TMO Note 8 device is compatible with Sprint. But how does one truly know? I don't want to port out to Sprint then find out that it doesn't work.

I just had a chat with Sprint online support. They we're able to load my Unlocked Tmo branded Note 8 IMEI to the system. They said it is ready for activation. I will pickup a Sprint Sim card later today or tomorrow and report back.
I can confirm that T-Mobile Note 8 will work on Sprint. When I put the new Sprint Sim in it change the splash page and add Sprint apps. It removed all T-Mobile apps
Do you have access to all the Sprint bands?
Which SIM did you buy and where?
Just ordered my two Sprint Kickstarter Sim cards. Should be here on Tuesday, porting in from T-MOBILE. Will be using them on our TMO Note 8 devices.

I think the phone has all bands. I also tried my Verizon Sim card from my work phone and the Note 8 downloaded all of the Verizon apps and I was able to make calls. It even showed the Verizon splash screen when I turned it on.
Here is a pic of the Sim card packaging. I got it from my local Sprint store.
All works fine. Or so it seems. Connected to band 41 I think currently. Amazing how the Note 8 reconfigure itself.

Not bad, not as fast as TMO but then again not as expensive. $15 is $15 , right?
Sometimes, my browsing slows right down. Even on hand 41. Loading pages like BBC etc, it stalls.

I must agree with you. The network is a lot slower than T-Mo. I have a Sprint branded G7 I got from Swappa and it performs the same as T-MO Note 8 I ported over. For $15 per month I can't complain either.
Indeed, we get what we pay for. I'd however never spend $60 plus on Sprint unlimited plan if it were like this.
Moral of story, Sprint ain't worth more than $20 per month.
