I just recently started experiencing this issue. The only thing that I had changed was installing the latest Hangouts app that I found online. But it wasn't working before then either.
If I try to send anyone, including myself, an MMS msg through Hangouts or regular Messages, it doesn't ever send, it just ends up failing.
I've tried clearing data for both apps, restarting the phone, resetting APN to defaults and resetting it to AT&T, and none of it is working.
Any ideas is greatly appreciated!
P.S.: my data is still working, just not MMS messages to\from my device
P.S.S.: sorry mods, I accidentally posted this in the carrier specific section, my device is super CID and this section is much more active
figured it out, it was the adblock plus app, lol

If anyone wants a Google music beta invite, i have a few and would happily give you one if you could help me solve this problem!
After having problems with my touch screen i took the phone into sprint and they replaced the touch screen and key panel, however now, I am unable to send or receive text messages. I do not receive any errors upon sending and i have tried updating PRL, Profile, done a hard reset, flashed different roms, etc. I have a feeling it has something to do with Google voice interfering with the messaging apps. I have uninstalled Google voice but to no avail.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
BTW I am running Cyanogen mod 7 R.C.1
Update:
I just installed google voice and a slew of text messages came back, however i still can not get them to appear in my messaging app. The people at sprint arent very helpful so im turning to you guys at XDA. Any input would be greatly appreciated
Anybody got any ideas?
Well I'd just sync ur Gmail account and just start over cuz u can go In circles with this....
Factory reset and reflash cm7 and it's gapps....
Do not do any titanium back cuz ur problem will follow u..
Then it all works make sure u back it up before u add anything to it so u have a solid base backup to go to.
Good luck

I would call Sprint and tell them that you Installed GoogleVoice and now your VoiceMail is all Messed up! I know VoiceMail isn't your problem but I Guaranty GoogleVoice is your problem Effecting All your Messages!
I recently had to do Exactly what I'm suggesting! They'll be able to see from their end that the Sprint VoiceMail has been Changed, Tell them to Switch you Back to the Sprint VoiceMail as your Default!
So I somehow borked messaging on my phone. Only it's deeper than that. Let's rewind a bit, shall we?
So about a week and a half ago, I started experimenting with different popup programs for SMS/MMS messages, since I'm not a big fan of how laggy chat heads can be with FB Messenger. I went through app after app comparing features until I settled on Glowfly. Everything seemed to be working fine until my sister tried to message me and my parents. It looked to me like she had just messaged me individually, and when I tried to send out a new group message with them all in it, I noticed it sent separate SMS messages to each person instead of a group MMS. And they didn't receive as a group message; it was all individual messages to them too. My first reaction was to uninstall Glowfly, but the damage was done. No matter what I've tried, this issue is persisting. I don't know if something messed up MMS settings on the network for me, or what, but even wiping and doing a clean install of roms (both stock and Sense) have the exact same issue, even if I don't restore anything with TIBU or install anything at all. The only thing I can think is that maybe it's pulling wrong MMS settings from Google, or it's something on the network acting screwy, but no one else is having this issue. Oh, and here's the weirdest part: I can still get MMS messages with pictures. So MMS is not flat-out broken. I just don't understand how it can persist through wipes and clean installs. Anyway, does anyone have any idea what could be happening?
Its not MMS, its not an included feature in 4.1, it got added in 4.2. Try Textra. Its in the play store. Has popups and group messaging built in. Super clean and stable texting app. My wife and mom have been using it on their firsts, and have had no issues at all. Hope that helps.

I've been on Arhd 62 with Sense 6.0 on my M7 AT&T for a month now. Everything is great except Blinkfeed stopped refreshing this week and won't show any content. I tried everything with auto sync, rebooting, etc. Also I will not get any MMS, pics or group. They show up in preview notifications bar but when I go to messages they're not there, like they don't exist. I tried different APN settings and this forum isn't easy to navigate. I found numerous APN settings that vary. Can someone point me to the right ones for AT&T with LTE and MMS? Or how else to solve these issues? Thank you.

you can found the correct apn setting for at&t on their website or google it: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=at&t+lte+apn
Note that using app like AdBlockPlus also cause issue sending/receiving mms

I Googled it and got varying results and contradicting APN settings that weren't current. Some Cingular, some AT&T. Some say to leave some stuff unspecified, some not... I did have AdBlockPlus but uninstalled it and that didn't fix it. Can you help me find the most current settings?
Since updating to Lollipop earlier this week Google Messenger has lost the ability to receive MMS messages. On Jelly Bean I was able to change the APN and receive them sporadically, but now they don't come in at all, they just say "downloading" and stay that way. The APN setting is no longer in the Messenger menu. I can find it in the mobile data settings menu, but it is greyed out. Has anyone experienced this? I Googled for a solution, but found nothing helpful yet.
Thanks in advance.
Well... If it makes you feel any better, I had similar issues. After switching to a lollipop ROM. I couldn't send or receive texts (SMS) but group and pics would go through (MMS). I searched and asked for days, tried to learn about APN's, made changes, gave up. Borrowed my daughter's old iPhone (hate it) until my contract is up in April. Then it'll be Verizon for me with either the M9 or N6. Wish you luck. If you come up with a solution, please post it. I would really like to have my M8 available for resale.
I've switched to Textra, which is similar to Messenger in enough ways that I'm good for now. If/when Messenger is updated next, I hope it'll work well enough to switch back to.
Just wanted to let you know that you're not alone. I had the issue with a replacement M7. MMS wouldn't send or download. The APN MMSC setting in the stock Messages app was "(not set)" and there is no way to set it.
I ended up using 8sms for texts and mms. I just flashed Lollipop from Kitkat and it's still the same.
Hello,
I have an unrooted, p30 pro Canadian model vog-l04. I just got the automatic update to Android 10 but now I am unable to send SMS messages. I can receive them fine but can't send. I have tried everything in the list below. Does anyone have any other suggestions?
Cleared the system cache in recovery mode
Checked SIM card
Cleared network configuration (reset network settings)
Force closed messaging app
Cleared messaging app cache.
Uninstalled messaging app updates
Updated messaging app
Rebooted
Edited contact phone numbers
Confirm Message Center Number is correct
Checked voice calling and mobile data
Deleted old messages conversations
Tried sending from different SMS apps.
I really don't want to do a factory reset if I can help it! Is there anything else I can try?
Thank you!

Honestly, although you don't want to, after a major OS upgrade a factory reset is always advised, a vast majority of the time it leaves behind rubbish files which cause inexplicable problems like this one that just cannot be fixed any other way.
The only other thing I can think (but doubt) that occasionally happens upgrading to 10, is the APN settings password needs fixing, but that usually causes a no data problem rather than SMS, but worth a look
Thanks for your reply. For anyone else who has this problem, I managed to fix it without a factory reset, thanks to this post here. It's as simple as downloading huawei backup from the play store, which I think I had previously removed. SMS now works fine

Thanks so much - I had tried what I thought was everything to fix this!!! Reinstalling Huawei Backup did indeed instantly fix it.
