Weird USB flab discoloration - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi! I've recently noticed a weird discoloration on USB flap cover on my Z3C. Its not on the outer surface, it looks to be under the transparent part (sorry for photos quality, made with laptop camera). I'm not sure if it's some layer peeling off, ar just discoloration. I haven't dropped my phone or submerged it in any fluid ever. That's why i'm wondering where it came from. Did anyone experienced similar problem? Should I just buy a new flap and replace it myself?

convex rear screen or only wrong sensation?

Hi guys,
I noticed a small problem in my xperia z. As you know, the edges fiberglass chassis protrude slightly with respect to the panels of front and back glass. in my case I noticed that where there is the door to the sim, the board seems a little less prominent, as if the rear glass was a little more prominent. your are so well? is a problem caused by overheating of the processor? is something almost imperceptible so even taking pictures you could not see
anyone can say if you have the same situation? is it normal?
it does seem a little convex here now that you've mentioned it . Only a little
Yes Only a little...but now i think the Glass rests the surfaces in that point :/
Anyother?

The glass is flexible, maybe it's that . Anyway, what problem does that cause to you?
Sent from my LG-P990 using xda premium
i think that now the glass touch the surface where i put the phone.
Android i suppose that the Phone Could have an internal problem. Possible?
Just had a really good look at mine and it looks perfectly flat so wouldn't say a curve in the back was normal.

It's very very Little...like 0.1 mm. Can this compromise water proof?
I see what you mean now, if I run my finger nail across the back towards the opposite side (with USB and microSD) my nail catches on the rubber edge protruding slightly, however, on the side with the SIM slot, the glass protrudes slightly further than the rubber edge, and so my nail slips off the edge of the phone.
The problem you'll see, because of this, is that when your phone lies flat on the desk, it should be resting on the rubber edge and not touching the glass, but on the SIM side, the glass touches the desk.
It might scratch the glass/screen protector but it shouldn't be a problem otherwise.
yes it's the same thing for me!!!...so i think that the only problem is the scratch of screen protector.
I restored the original form with a vise and a phone...but when i play a game and the phone became hot the problem return...so i think that is a stock
behavior of xperia z. the convex is imperceptible but the rear glass touch the surface and i can see some scratches on the sony stock film.I would not want that water came from this small curvature!

Camera protection?

I have my Nexus 6 in a full case but the case leaves a cut out in the back for the camera and the Motorola M.
I currently have an old screen protector between the case and the phone to protect my camera from being scratched or damaged.
The problem with this is that the LED ring causes a haze due to the light being reflected back from the screen protector and the images don't always turn out correctly.
I was looking for a two piece protector, one to go over the camera lens and one to go over the remaining exposed back area. The only thing I found like this is Skin Wraps, but they don't protect the camera lens. (Something like this: https://slickwraps.com/nexus-5-lens-protector.html)
I have dogs stepping on my phone every day and those claws are bound to put a nice scratch in my camera if it's left unprotected.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to protect the camera lens? or know of something that can cut a perfect circle out of an old screen protector that would fit the lens area?
Personally i think you're going at this from the wrong angle. I've had my N6 for well over a year and there isn't a mark on it, and I achieved this simply by making sure that it never goes into a pocket with anything else - coins, keys, etc. I gave up on screen protectors when I had a Galaxy S2 and discovered that the protector was a filth magnet and made the screen sticker to swipe - screen protectors are (IMO) a solution looking for a problem.
I agree with this guy about the camera glass:

The camera glass is not only pretty tough anyway, but the focal length of the camera means that any slight scratches will have an imperceptible impact on the photos. In order to show, the scratch would have to be so monstrous that you may as well replace the unit:

I totally get why you want to do this - I like to keep my phones in good condition too - but there's a line between wanting to keep them good and becoming overly-cautious to the point that you don't even enjoy taking them out for fear of damage...
Just a personal opinion for consideration...

Hairline scratches not-so-ceramic

It seems the ceramic is not so unscratchable after all; I got hairline scratches in the vicinity of the lens on the back.
Did anyone else experience this issue?
I'll try to upload some pics, but the surface is reflective AF.

Before i bought mine; watched the scratch proof est videos etc. It was good in theory but however I found( a friend warned me) very tiny scratches on my screen(can be seen through the sun light) even though i've never put it face down to hard surfaces nor in my pocket with another thing. And immediately bought a screen protector and case. I guess rear surface or lens can be scratched too perhaps not easily but...

I treat it like a baby but there are hairline scratches on back and front...

Yeah this happened to me as well... very disappointing. Only one encounter then I had it it my pocket with a key (for a moment) must have done most of the fine scratches near the camera, and I'm guessing setting it down must have caused the scratches near the edges.

backglass? my 3th one

how many backglasses have u replaced?
0, bought phone 10 days after it was relased. Are you playing football with it ( no offense ) ? Using original samsung case and no problems !
whahhaah no offence taken,no once i dropped it.. and twuce i didnt notice anything and it just was cracked hagaga
also on my 3rd, just broke the 2nd, dont even know how
Does someone know if there are any backpieces made of plastic or alluminium?
Aluminium: probably not, as the wireless charging feature won't work with a metal back.
glass is the best choice, it wont go opaque like plastic, no scratches and when my glass is full of shatter lines i kinda feel like i fit in with the iphone people nawmeen
anyone that has the back glass replaced how's the waterproof seals holding up? I got mine second hand and it has replaced back panel since it has no IMEI or serial on the back panel.

Using the clearview cover without any screen protectors.
Doing well except the edges that are scratched by the cover itself:crying::crying::crying::crying:
One long line going from the USB port to the volume buttons and I didn't drop it. Might replace it soon. I got a case after it was cracked.
Had this phone since release always has a case on it, dropped it twice on concrete, a few times on my wooden floor and one time down the stairs. Nothing on my phone, but I have small hair line scratches on the screen from I guess putting it in my pocket and what not. Can't win them all I guess sigh.
galaxy s7 active here.... haha no issues so far.
but for us that front plastic "anti shatter" screen feels like cheap plastic and scratches easily- tamped glass on top makes the phone look GORGEOUS especially the screen now and adds massive protection.
although Ive seen this phone nicked and busted on the sides pretty good for used on ebay.... i haven't noticed anything like that with the drops I've done so far.

Xiaomi Mi3w - Rear Housing > What's is this black tape for? Thermal? EMI Shielding?

Hi guys/gals. I received a replacement rear case for my cancro device, and noticed that the replacement doesn't have this (see image) tape installed.
I tried to remove the original, but to be honest; it's very difficult to remove without breaking/tearing/stressing it... Which I did.
So, my question... Is this thermal tape or just EMI shielding tape? I'm leaning towards the latter because it wasn't mating against any metallic surface.
It's very thin, and has a shiny black plastic exterior; and as mine is now torn - a somewhat thin metallic layer in the middle.
As my tape is broken... I didn't try to install it on the replacement rear housing. Any problems as a result of not replacing this properly? Signal problems?
Thanks.
