NFL Mobile with root - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hey so after seeing verizon allowed nfl mobile app to stream live games on all plans i decided to give it a try. im still on unlimited plan and have had an s-off phone since i got it. app works fine on the phone but there is no option to stream live games. i tried this app on my wifes stock m8 and she gets multiple games to view live. im trying to figure out why this feature doesnt work on my phone tho. according to verizon they say any plans including new and legacy ones get free live games unlike last year where unlimited plans were stopped from viewing, so i didnt think my plan was the problem. I have no other way to test other rooted phones to see if they get the same result. has anyone else with a verizon m7 thats rooted been able to get live games working on their phone? ive done tons of searches to see if anyone else had these issues but came up with only 2 year old threads that dont apply.

Canadian paid apps

Hey all. I have an unlocked US G1 that is rooted. I'm using it in Canada with ROGERS network. I don't have access to the paid apps. Is this normal? Is there a way around it? I really rooted mainly to get the Task manager app, but seeing as it is a paid app now, i can't even get access to buy it
Sure. The workaround is that you plug in a US sim card.
I feel your pain
Hey mate, i've pm'd you about your crisis.
Not sure if this is allowed or not really. It's the old free version, which still works so i assume i assume sharing it's ok but if not the mods here will no doubt be on it like a hawk so no harm done.

Welcome to the sad reality of Canadian G1 owners.
Do you have timestamp issues with SMS (i.e. all your received texts are 5 hours behind?). If so the easiest fix is to set your time to +0 (but be forewarned as that will mess up some other things in the phone like exchange and gmail time stamps). I've heard hand-cent sms app works but I haven't given it a try myself.
Yes the work around for paid apps is getting a US Sim card. Speaking of which, I have a brand-new T-Mobile sim. I don't believe it's activated or anything and I'm not entirely certain how this works but would I be able to put it in and download paid apps through wifi? I don't want to get any messed up charges on my next bill.
Sorry mate but as i understand it, if you use a us sim card, you can use to download the apps via 3g, however if you want to use wifi, you not only need the us sim card your router also needs to think it's us based which is a whole other story. Which completely sucks for you as i understand rogers still hasn't announced any intention of bringing the friendly lil' bot to your fair shores, and Google in their infinite wisdom still hasn't rolled out a web based market. Where did i put my eye patch...............
Yeah that makes sense, thanks for that info!

[Q] Does Web2Go still work for you on N1?

Hi, I've been using Web2Go on my N1 with T-Mobile for the past couple years along with my brother. Today, it stopped working for both of us.
Anyone else have this problem? If so, what solutions have you found for it? Thanks!
BTW we are both also on CM7 if that matters. We're using the internet2 APN.
Thanks again!
It stopped working for me too today.
I thought it was a CM9 thing....apparently its bigger than that
same here =[
family plan, my bro's N1 is still working though.

is he using a different apn? If he is, please share
Stopped working for another line on my account too.
Had no choice but to call 611 and inquire. They said they will "Upgrade" me to the regular 200MB data plan with no overages and no additional charges.
I asked if they can give me the 2GB plan since they are changing my existing plan for their benefit, they couldn't do it. (They offered a 5GB plan for $25, i.e. $15 more)
Oh well, no market downloads over mobile and limited tethering for me... Looks like Tmo got hold of a majority of the Nexus One IMEI numbers.

same apn. internet2.voicestream
i'm hoping for some workaround
Stopped working for us as well.
Changed APN to wap.voicestream.com and its working again!
However, a lot of ports/sites are blocked. Can't access anything Google related, Facebook, Whatsapp, etc.
I'm looking into SSH Tunneling to see if that would fix the problem.
After 2 years of the amazing N1, think I'm going to switch to HTC Vivid or Galaxy SII i777 sometime soon. Yeah, I know I'll only get EDGE for now, but I don't mind. Maybe later I'll get 4G (some signs of tmobile getting ATT bands, but mostly speculation).
mine died today, too. once i get a chance, i'm switching to simple mobile.
Stopped working yesterday in TX.
If I'm gonna pay full price for internet, might as well get me
phone that can handle 4G.
Just wanted to also chime in. I'm in TX as well and I haven't had data service for the past two days. It was nice having web2go for 2 years, but I'm going to move towards just not having a data plan anymore, go prepaid, and use a usb stick whenever I travel for data.
My only other option would be to try to jump onto the $30 / month walmart plan -- gah I'm so tired of cellphone companies.

That may be an option, but that's effectively a downgrade that makes me rather consider switching to (gasp) at&t.
The N1 I have stopped working with the web2go data plan too. Does any one have any solution for this? Was planning to upgrade to something else now

Only thing you can do is swap to a plan that work.

Did you try configuring it to use the old proxy that the wap apn used?
If you're going to get another phone, I'd check the hofo wiki. They have a list of phones that have 3G ("4G") on AWS but are compatible with tzones.
TMO will probably never get 1900MHz 3G all over, just in a few places.

[Q] Portable Hotspot free (AT&T)?

Hi guys,
So today i was playing with the settings menu and decied to try out the mobile network sharing. I know that you have to have specific data plan to get tethering (which I dint have) but I decided to give it a shot anyways. To my surprise, the hotspot worked flawlessly and I was able to connect to my tablet using my One's mobile data. I tried to setup tethering on my sister's iphone 5 who has the same plan but got prompted to call At&t to add qualifying plan. Do any of you guys with AT&T get free hotspot as well or am I wrong in thinking that its gonna be free? I would hate to get billed for using it without a qualifying data plan.
Btw, my one is rooted, S-off, and running ARHD 11.5.
I can't say for sure because I didn't try this feature before I put ARHD 11.5 on my new HTC One (just yesterday in fact), but I think you are able to do that for free because you have ARHD installed. One of the advantages, AFAIK, to putting a custom ROM on your phone is to enable tethering without having to go through your carrier. This was one of the reasons I put a custom ROM on my HTC EVO when I was with Sprint at least. I didn't think it was right for the carrier to dictate how I could use my phone when tethering is a feature inherent to most smartphones, but just walled off by carriers as an additional way to nickel and dime users.

Yeah since you got rid of the AT&T software, they have no way on the phone's end to know if you're using the hotspot. Unfortunately the iPhone is a little more restrictive and I don't know of any way to get around it, although there may be. I would be careful though, if they detect that you're using data too quickly they can add the hotspot feature to your plan. It's happened to me before.

Tethering on Verizon? Google Music replacement?

I want to get a Nokia 929 when it comes out...but I havent been given a good answer on this issue...
Can I tether on my unlimited plan I have with Verizon? My GNex is perfect for this reason. I read that its disabled unless you have the share everything plan. True? Any way around this if true????
Also....I love the idea of my music in the cloud. Google Music alteratives on Windows phones?
Unfortunately there are no GOOD free tethering options. You have tether x but I have yet to get it to work reliability or constantly. I pay thirty bucks a month extra for tethering my unlimited data and use 40 to 80 gigs a month. Add the feature through the Verizon website (my Verizon) it is available instantly after you add it.
for google music I use cloudmusik from the app store. It streams all music I have stored in google music without a problem.

Internet Sharing won't work. You can officially just pony up the extra $30 to add tethering on top of your unlimited, but there's no simple hack yet...
You could always try ##PST# (on any Verizon WP including the Trophy) and use the password 000000 as required by FCC law for the bands Verizon use. There aren't any values that can be changed, but I'm still looking into allowing us to edit those values (at least on the 928 and it may possibly apply to other Lumias) and show some of the others as well.......
You used to be able to change the username to connect the tethering (from ##########@dun.vzw3g.com to ##########@vzw3g.com, but I don't know their settings yet for 4G, they might be the same) but it isn't displayed anymore.
I'm hoping that I can also add the functionality to use PagePlus (a Verizon MVNO) on these things, but its all a matter of being able to edit the PST page.
Also, I'm not sure I could recommend a good Google Music alternative, as I don't really use too many of their services, but there might be a full app review for one at WPcentral.com

TMobile Tether Question

I'm using Verizon now for home internet via a tablet with hot spot turned on. I moved to a rural area and no broadband is available. I don't want satellite because I can not game with it so I am stuck using Verizon. As you all know you have to pay per GB and its quite expensive. I need an alternative for internet and no carrier with unlimited data will allow you to tether. It looks like TMobile will be my best bet carrier wise and I know you can get around it so TMobile doesn't see that you are tethering.
Here is my question, I have searched for a few hours and looking at my options. I've found numerous places that tell you how to do it, but none of them have been updated for months. When you read the FoxFi comments everyone's claiming it doesn't work after the Lollipop update. Even found a few threads on here with recent comments, but no answer. I want to get a phone from TMobile just to tether the unlimited data. 5 GBs isn't enough for what I need. So can anyone confirm a method or point me in the directions of a thread that can tell me what is working currently? I don't want to start service with TMobile and it not work.
Thanks for anyone that can help.

Im on a lollipop rom on note 4 with tmobile, and I modified the files myself. Seems to work thus far.
Your not rooted? Just added the new APN with no VPN? And no app?

I am rooted. You must be referring to wifi tether app or something. I'm on a custom rom. Most (if not all) the tethering mods require root access. Maybe someone else can chime in on tether without root.
Ok this is a start lol. Looking at the Tmobile prices I don't think Note 4 would be a smart move for what I will use it for. Would the same methods work with an S3? you may not know worth a shot azking.

I've had s3, note 2, and now note 4 for my last 3 phones, all on the tmobile network. S3 is great and has a a lot of past development still available. Honestly though I'd go with something like the note 2 or 3 or s4. Those have better more recent development and can do the same things if not more. Good luck in your search
Thanks for the help bud I'll look into it more after the 7 day test drive.
