Hey, I tried rooting using fugumod for galaxy S http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1010141 I went into download mode, installed fugumod, then went into download mode again, and put on my kernel. It all started up fine, but before I got a chance to see if I was rooted, it restarted. It keeps doing this. I know I'm not bricked, i can get into recovery and download fine, but what can i do to fix this problem?
What firmware are you currently running? JVT? Did you try to root with a JVT kernal? Go back into Download mode and root with a kernal that is made for your firmware.

I'm in Australia, and I have the JVK firmware.
Usin Odin Upgrade your PDA to JVT, use the JVK Modem and CSC, repartition with 512pit. Flash one of the root kernals in the above links in the PDA section of Odin. Now you will have JVT and option to use many custom roms...or just keep it on stock JVT.
Edit: I think the most recent modem upgrade for Austrialia is XXJVQ and CSC is VAUJV6. See firmware link above.
JVK is European. Youll most likely have better cell coverage if you use the modem and csc above. Flash with JVT PDA
Do you know where to find JVK modem and csc?
Its all in Firmware Link.
Download the first download under Europe JVT 2.3.5...use only the PDA. You have to unzip it after you download it.
Dont use JVK if your in Australia...it will work but cell coverage most likely sucks.
Download the first download under Australia/NewZealand....it has the current Modem and CSC you should use. Unzip it and you will have your modem and csc
Put these in Odin with a 512pit....under how to Flash on the same link you will see a link for Odin with Pit files.
Sorry for my inexperience, but what is a 512pit?
Edit: You also said to download JVT 2.3.5. I'm on 2.3.3, does this matter?
No worries....You can download the odin and pit files on same link...its right below how to flash...there is a link.
So remember you want to flash
XXJVT in PDA
SRJV1 in MODEM XXJVQ will work but seems like SRJV1 is recommended in Aus i9000 thread
VAUJV6 in CSC
512 pit in PIT
After flash, go into recovery and wipe data reset, wipe cache partition, and wipe Dalvik Cache.
Reboot, power down, back to Download mode flash either of the root kernals from links in first post. Flash in PDA.
When done you will have rooted phone with current JVT PDA with your proper modem and CSC.
EDIT :When your done you will be on 2.3.5 JVT more current and many more options for using custom roms.

Found this....after reading the austalia i9000 thread...this is the best modem to use...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14273164&postcount=4
Seems like guys in Aus...are recommending this Modem...SRJV1
I did all that, now my phone just isn't turning on...
Edit: I just got into download mode, so i'm not bricked...
Edit 2: I installed Semaphore kernel, And i say reboot system now, it goes straight back to clockwork? Does that mean i don't have a rom?
If your flashing the files in the right spots in Odin ...the files I suggested above then everything should work fine....go to the i9000 australia thread and ask if the configuration I suggested should work.

So will Cyanogen work with this if i put it on a sd card and flash it in recovery?

Wait till phone reboots.
After reboots, power down.
Reset Odin
Put semaphore 1.9.0 tar in PDA of Odin
put phone in Download mode

after you started odin did it run for about 5 to 10 minutes and say pass at the end and reset.
if so....try flashing again but use the csc from the jvt download instead of the vaujv6.
After flashing Sephamore or the modem stuff? Because both didn't even take a minute..
forget about semaphore right now.... follow these instructions exactly
open odin on computer.
put xxjvt in PDA...its the one that says CODE from the files you downloaded and unzipped.
Put SRJV1 in PHONE the one from the download under australia/newzealand modems.
Put the csc file from the Jvt download in csc....it says csc
put the 512 pit file in PIT
put phone in download mode and connect to computer.
com port goes yellow press start.
it should take about 5 to 10 minutes. when its done it will say pass and reset. once the phone resets disconnect usb...it will take a few minutes to reboot....do this and tell me when done.
---------- Post added at 08:56 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:28 PM ----------
After downloaded and unzipped this is what the files will look like.
PHONE_SRJV1.tar.md5....this goes in the phone section of odin
CODE_I9000XXJVT_CL617736_REV03_user_low_ship.tar.rar....this goes in PDA
GT-i9000-CSC-HOME-MULTI-OXAJVT.tar.rar....goes in CSC
S1_odin_20100512.pit.....goes in PIT
This exactly what the files look like if you downloaded the ones I told you and unzipped them.
i have downloaded this file CF-Root-SGN_XX_SER_LA6-v5.0-CWM5.zip how to flash via mobile odin, do i get flash zImage file?
or just unzip and flash the .tar file
thanks
If you are already rooted, flash the zimage with CWM application.
To lash it from mobile Odin, tap kernel and select the extracted zimage file.
If not, follow how to root guide. It's in development section.
rooted via http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1535025
do not have CWM yet
so i extract that zip till i see the zImage and select that on mobile odin?
Right.
yes, in mobile odin select kernel N point to zimage file - Flash
fyi
I am using speedmod kernel k2-8 and for some reason I cannot install modded jkay deluxe for lc1 with this kernel so I want to revert stock chackrom kernel (cf-root 5.3 lc1) so I downloaded the cf-root 5.3 zip wich I extracted (.tar) and then opened the .tar from mobile odin. After it finished the phone rebooted and after the galaxy note text the screen goes dark and nothing happend.
Why????
I had to flash speedmod kernel again from from download mode via pc odin. (ofc cwmr was NOT available:OO)
There's no connection between Jkay mod and any other kernel.
Did you flash deodex version of Jkay mod on odex rom?

Hello Everybody.
Time ago I had one Galaxy SCL, and I replaced it with my Note 7000. I ve tried to flash a ROM but I have now the Samsung logo on the screen and the phone dont boot.
I have a GNote from Spain, free (No network op), Rom 4.0.3 default, updated from the same device 2 months ago...
Here the things that I made to the GNote:
Root--> I found I file called "Root_SuperSU.0.95.Only-signed". Copied into a external SD Card, Installed It, check with app "Root Checker" Succesfully. I gained Root Access
-Installed CWM, and installed into flash, so I can boot (Vol up, home, power) with CWM.
-Located a ROM called "ICS_Stunner_Beta4_final", copied into SD Card, reboot phone into CWM, wipe all -->data, cache, dalvik, battery. Installed from SD, reboot -->FAIL -->First Logo came up, then the options and the back buttons remain highlighted forever-->No reboot, no shutdown, nothing. I can shutdown the phone but I'm in a bucle...
-I can start the phone with downloading mode, and recovery mode (without CWM only default), I decided to install a Stock ROM, from your forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1424997 , taking the one from Spain (Movistar). -->STUCK on SAMSUNG LOGO.
-I can access again to download mode and recovery mode, but I dont know what should I do know...
I read the forum with similar questions but useless because they are in different situation I think. Different ROM or default settings or modifieds Kernels...
Some one can guide me, in order to recovery the Gnote?
Thanks in advance,
PD: Sorry for my English, hope that you can understand it perfectly. ^^

Hi,
I have used the way on this link cursed4eva.com/root-galaxy-note.
SuperSU has been instaled sucesfully but after reboot there was no SuperSU icon.
Then I have user the 1B option on XDA: PS : If you can't see superSU after flashing above file(sometimes happen if there is too low space like in LQ3 ROM, then use this Root_superSU, followed by same above Root_busybox file.
I have put the Root_superSU into the root and have reboot into recovery but after reboot there was some warning about change of something (have fortotten what was written:silly I have confirmed it and now (allready over 40 minutes) on the screen is standing:
ODIN MODE
Product name: GT-N7000

Do not turn off target!!
What should I do now?
Help please!
hold the power button till the screen turns off and then press power again. Check what happens the phone should boot

if not then remove the battery wait for 10 secs and reinsert. boot again
Go to original android subforum, get Philz stock kernel and flash that via recovery (read the instructions)
If you cannot go to recovery and is stuck at download mode, get a stock GB rom from Dr. Ketan's thread and flash via pc odin.
Hope you did not get bricked using that temp cwm and su files.

download a kernel that matches ur ROM, reboot into recovery, install zip from SD, choose the downloaded file and install. Thats it really,
u will get root, CWM and safe kernel.
I don't see your version XXLPT / LQ3 under Philz kernel.
Try to update your stock rom first to those available under Philz Kernel.
Then you can flash Philz Kernel and get rooted immediately after flashing his kernel.
Good Luck!

Hi,
So you suggest that I should do the dr. Ketan's "1A.Root + safe kernel + advance recovery"?
Can I make it reverse - go back to the stock ROM/kernel if the Note must go to service, I do not want to loose guarantee.
How?
Where I can find stock ROM/kernel?
I have seen that there is noo XXLPT/LQ3 kernel.
Now I am confused what should I do. Which kernel from the list is suitable?
Step by step explanation/tutorial for a noob please!
then use Dr ketans rooting method.

Yeah. Philz kernel starts from 4.0.4 I think.
If you want the easiest way, and at the same time to get the latest firmware, go to the link given by nokiamodeln91.
Download either one of this :
N7000XXLRT---4.0.4/12.09.07-N7000DBTLRT---Download---Germany
N7000DDLR9---4.0.4/12.09.12-N7000ODDLR3---Download--India
That's the last 2 firmware from Samsung.
Download it, and flash it from ODIN PC (On the same thread by dr. Ketan, you can find also on how to install it by ODIN PC).
Once you are done, you may go back to Philz kernel thread, and choose the kernel.
If you flash the XXLRT, you can download : PhilZ-cwm6-XXLRT-DBT-v2.7
If you flash the DDLR9, you can download : PhilZ-cwm6-DDLR9-INU-v2.7
and put it under your phone (external sd).
You may flash Philz kernel with your stock recovery. Just go to recovery, and apply update from zip file.
That's it. You will get root + safe kernel (safe from brick) + CWM v6.
By doing this, you won't get triangle. And you will get root, and also you will be on the safe state free of eMMC brick bug.
To go back to stock (if you intend to send for service), you can just flash back the original firmware. Everything will be back to normal (no root, stock kernel, stock firmware).
Please note :
DO NOT DO any wipe data until you get into PHilz Kernel.
OR :
if you don't want to go the hassle of upgrading firmware, and still want to stick to what you have now, you may refer to Philz kernel thread, and read post #6 (by dr. Ketan).
You can request your firmware installed on your device, and just wait for Philz to modified and put on the OP.
(but this takes time, you can't force him to modified for you on the spot)
Good luck!

I am a complete noob with this kind of thing so please excuse the stupidity. I have searched this site for hours but I just don't understand enough to make sense of the advice
I was running 2.3.3 on my Galaxy S GT-i9000 and I mananged to update it to 2.3.6 and it was saying i9000XXJVU (i think!)
However, then I tried to root it and the boot screen was just stuck on loop so I tried to flash the phone and now it is working again but saying the baseband version in i9000xxjvt and the build number is gingerbread.xwjvz...
I have no idea what any of this means but it seems I need the correct version to update to Jelly Bean properly...? Could anybody point me in the right direction? I'm scared of breaking it again :silly:
Is it ok to just go ahead and try updating at at this point or is there anything left to do beforehand? Also, if anybody could point me in the exact direction for the update I would really appreciate it!
