In The Dark About Lollipop/EMUI update - Huawei Ascend P7

in the dark about Lollipop/EMUI update
I'm wondering why Huawei has decided that, besides delivering the option to beta-test, not to inform us on at least an idea of when the update will come out.
I think it's just strange that they do give out the beta and have the testing period come and go without even the smallest bit of info.
What about "The beta testing period has ended and we would like to thank everyone who has helped us by updating and giving feedback, we're going to work to improve your huawei experience to the fullest."
Or even "Keep in mind that delays are definitely a possibility but we are trying to get the update out to your ascend p7 before the end of oktober"? That would relieve so much of the tension that I see on multiple social media channels and to some extent this forum.
I just want to start a discussion though if you have any info I'd appreciate it a lot.
(P.S. Hi, I'm new in posting but have been lurking here for quite a while)

UPDATE (14th June 2011):
We are now over the 10,000 mark.
I have now spoken with Motorola and gotten confirmation that Motorola plan to unlock every device that will get an update in the second half of this year. This will include maintenance & firmware updates, but is still subject to Carrier approval.
The promising sign is that Verizon has already allowed Motorola to unlock a device on their network, the Xoom, which utilizes the unlockable/re-lockable model that Motorola intends on using across their devices.
I'm still looking to work with Motorola in the coming months to help see if we can make this a smooth process for Motorola and the community.
You can read the article here:
http://ausdroid.net/2011/06/14/an-u...witter&utm_campaign=Feed:+ausdroid+(Ausdroid)
Please share this where you can and keep it alive. I will continue to work with Motorola to see if we can get this thing torn wide open.
UPDATE (26th April 2011):
We are now at ~8,700 mark.
Motorola has now responded to me, stating that they are looking at unlocking bootloaders across their devices late 2011.
The article for the story can be found here:
http://ausdroid.net/2011/04/26/the-little-aussie-taking-on-motorola-u-s/#more-8184
We're still seeking clarity around whether this will be for current devices or only future devices.
I couldn't have gotten this far without the support of everyone here. You guys and girls have been a huge support and help me turn this snowball into a wrecking ball.
Please share this where you can and keep it alive. I will continue to work with Motorola to see if we can get this thing torn wide open.
Previous Update (4th April 2011):
We are now at ~7600 mark.
We're starting to slow down from our initial boom, so I have now set up a Facebook page to see if we can wrangle in some supporters that don't use Twitter or XDA.
I will need your help getting this out there. So share the facebook page where you can.
I'm also looking to see if anyone is interested in helping me Moderate the page. Please PM if you are.
Original Post:
Hi All,
I have created a Groubal (online petition) to get a response from Motorola on it's bootloader policy.
>>This petition started for the Atrix, but I made sure that it was for Motorola's overall Bootloader Policy. I have reached 200 signatures in 2 weeks, but now believe it's time to expand this out of the Atrix space and into the larger Motorola Dev community.
Ok guys, we now have nearly 800 signatures, nearly 500 in one night alone.
Keep up the great work everyone, this wouldn't be going anywhere without your support.

It would be even better if we could get XDA to post it as an announcement across all the forums, but unfortunately I don't know any of the administrators well enough to do it.
If you want to champion that for us, that would be greatly appreciate. I'm starting to find myself spread to thin on this one.
Groubal has been attacked again!
Hello Irwin,
Yes indeed...Groubal was hacked once again. We have our technical team and our hosting enterprise working feverishly on this to remedy the problem.
Clearly your petition and all your supporters have touched off serious nerves; and your message has created amazing awareness around the world now.
We will fix the problem and move forward. Please take the time to let everyone know on all the forums what has happened to Groubal.

Just sent this tip to Engadget.com
Please shed some light on the petition by the Android user community requesting that Motorola to unlock the bootloaders on their Droid phones. Smartphones are not just phones that can browse the web, they are mobile computing devices that can make phone calls.
We pay a large sum of money to own these mobile computing devices but we are not able to modify the operating system like any other personal computer that each of us own.

[Conspiracy] Xposed for Lollipop

Well guys, looks like Xposed for 5.0 won't ever happen.
REVISION: This edit was added on 2.13.14
The above statement was purely a joke when Xposed for LP was merely a dream. To clarify, as of now there is no ETA for Xposed. Ever. Don't ask. Stop. Don't think of it. If you ask, you shall be banned as of the words of the moderator.
I know it may be hard to read sometimes, so I started a new paragraph. If you are confused, look up. ETAs don't exist on this developer website. Thank you.
Xposed is IN THE WORKS and no, there is no beta version. If you beg to differ, post a comment. Don't flame me or anybody.
=D have a WONDERFUL, hate free day.
The full comment posted at https://github.com/rovo89/Xposed/issues/18 is:
Thanks guys. Actually, there is no need to worry about alternative approaches. It's not easy to "hack" ART in a similar way as Dalvik, but it's generally working.
What most people forget:
a) ART isn't the only new thing in Lollipop. SELinux requires a lot of extra code and even more thoughts to work around the restrictions. And 64 bit breaks the assumption that everything starts in a single process, as there are two Zygote processes now. I think it's important to consider this right from the start.
b) The actual (net) time required to write code is far away from the time that passes. It's not like I work on Xposed every evening. There are weeks when I don't look at the code at all. Yes, I do have other things in my life, and some have a higher priority. So even if something would take just a few evenings to code, it might take me a couple of weeks to actually do it. And once I publish something, you probably wouldn't like it if I took off for a few weeks.
If it was just about coding, pushing the source could be helpful. But that works best if there's already a clear concept of what is needed and an idea how this can be split up into work packages. Often it takes hours to come up with a concept that can be coded in 20 lines. Remember how many people are using Xposed meanwhile. We don't want to have some quick code that works by accident, so it's vital to think everything through carefully, and that takes time.
So yeah. It will take more time, I still don't give any ETA, but I'm quite confident that we'll have something nice some day.

You can probably count the people who really understand Xposed and how it works at one hand (and you'll basically have to start from scratch for lollipop).
It's not like there were hundreds of contributors in the past, so what you're trying to say here is invalid.
Yes, there would probably be some people who could help out, but keep in mind that every minute rovo is helping others to better understand what's going on isn't available for him to do some actual development (which includes research and drafting ideas).
I'm sure that any top tier dev who feels confident to actually bring xposed for lollipop forward can contact rovo anytime and get his wip code, but so far no one has spoken out.
The sad truth is that 95% of the xda users are people without any real technical knowledge - and the only thing they do is to offer to "test" something to gain access to something before it's release.
Unfortunately those testers are rarely ever needed, at least not within the core development phase, here it takes way more time to explain people what is needed than to just test it yourself.
When you're rolling something out to production and want to make sure that the last little bugs within different usage cases and configurations are squashed, sure you'll need testers, but not before.
But for now that's not the case, so it might be better to keep the unhelpful comments to oneself

Hahaha no worries bro just keepin the haters out of this thread :bruh:
just for waiting...
Hope xposed will be ported to lollipop eventually!!!
Hi guys! Yeah, I'm part of those 95% (I'm a lawyer), but I'm very grateful to rovo for his work. I have Nexus 5, but I'm still on Android 4.4.4 because of Xposed, and I'm not going to update to 5.0 until the new version of Xposed is done. You can see how important it is for me. @rovo89, I'm pretty sure that many people would pay you to complete your work. I understand that you have higher priorities and you are doing all of this for fun, but have you thought that you have almost 3 millions of downloads? If you create your team of software engineers and sell Xposed at 2$ (2€), you work on it every day for several months, and we assume that most of the current users buy your product, you will have enough money to pay your team and dedicate all of your time at what you want. It's just a suggestion of one of these 3 millions of users, that would pay more than 2$ and appreciate your work so much! Best regards from Spain!
rovo has said on multiple occasions that he won't take money for working on Xposed as he does not want it to become a job where he feels obligated to work on it full time.
He's working on it already. Offers of monetary gain won't make that work go any faster. Everyone will just have to be patient.
Sent from my C6603
We don't know if he is really doing on it (I hope yes but..) since we have no proofs (only claims) and no documentable code progress since August 2014. Plus, rovo89 was active here last year till August or so. Then he left.
If there are people who want work on it and have enough skills to port it, they should fork it and not wait. I saw some guys on github who want to work on ART port.
He flat out stated he would not post progress publicly either on GitHub or here and to wait until he had something worth publishing (that real contributors could help with) without bothering him. Comments on issues on GitHub do show he is/was working on it.
The real problem is that people are impatient and feel entitled to updates on progress, even though rovo explicitly stated that he wouldn't be doing that.
As for others *wanting* to work on it; nobody is stopping them forking the project and doing so. If they get it working then that would be fantastic and I'm sure everyone including rovo would be happy and grateful. That's the great thing about open source.
Sent from my C6603
1. Work hard to create something really, really useful.
2. Make it (and all the resources for re-creating it) available for free.
3. Millions of people use it.
4. Decide not to work so hard on it.
5. Get hounded day in and day out for months by thousands of people.
This is a classic example of "No good deed goes unpunished".
Rovo is a saint. In his shoes, I would have told all of the "hounders" to f**k off a long time ago.
In other words, people, learn how to be grateful, get off of Rovo's case, and move on.
.
This is sad, I would donate to help the dev, especially since all this is free
i'm a user and for me is normally this long time...the system of cache is completaly changed....and see it immediately in the booting process and the loading apps process.
Be patient!
Go On Rovo u can do that =)
I hope you are wrong

It is already 2015 and there is still no support for lollipop. It was working fine with jelly bean. I just installed a custom lollipop rom and I wanted to user xposed with greenify. It seems I have to wait and your saying will just be a conspiracy. You should really stop creating this kind of threads. Value people's creativity. That fact that, there is a delay doors not mean it will not be made. If for anything at all, give them some morale
Lollipop is a completely new system. The difference between KitKat and Lollipop is almost the same as between Windows 95 and Windows XP, if not larger... Lollipop looks like ordinary Android, acts like it, but it is NOT it...

p7 marshmallow update. We make a stand.

Hello fellow p7 owners,
I was annoyed as the rest of you with huawei's last statement (well, lack of statement to be precise). They barely released the lollipop update which did not reach everyone and now they seem to ignore updating it to marshmallow. This is ridiculous.
Tonight we shall stand. I say that we should annoy the hell out of them to know not to mess with us. We can send messages to their contact emails, comment and post on their social pages and perhaps call them if possible and to keep it organised, we should include a common hashtag ( marshmallow_for_ascend_p7).
Please, make sure to include the hashtag as well when contacting them by email. It will hopefully give the feeling that this is an organised movement. I can't put the links to their social pages unfortunately but you can find them easily if you write huawei facebook or huawei twitter in google.
And thanks in advance to all those who will participate.
I think that this is pointless effort! even if they confirm marshmallow, with their "fast" development we will hopefully get beta version (full of bugs!) approx in summer of 2020. and by then i will already have different phone from different manufacturer! that's for sure!
I thinking huawei never going for this update, because lollipop still not Works well a lot of bugs and i think it's a shame that huawei brings a not working update. They are only bring new phones to the market and thats it. updates are not necessary i think. Sorry for my bad english.

Why I'm ready for Oreo...

Well I just want to vent with some fellow G5S plus owners and Phone modding enthusiasts . Well I too have lost my Volte and to have that annoyance fixed would be great , but most of all im ready for root again . Yes i know i can have it now but I went through a lot of trouble with research and trial and error to install Stock that would actually receive OTA updates . I purchased this device specifically to get back into an old hobby of customizing , Its listed as one of the best deals in price and easily modified and i find that to be true. The amount of development and support for this lower cost phone is impressive ! I would also like to thank all the developers who have worked hard in creating the support and customization. We have a saying in Texas "get off the toilet " i cant imagine what is taking MOTONOVA so long to get this done ! Anyway just wanted to complain and to say im ready for some customization. i havent had a modified device for 4 years prior to this purchase and only had a few months to enjoy playing around with modding it . Ive also had the thought that moto may not have another full blown firmware update for this device if its taking this long for oreo . Ok! done crying about this situation . Again thanks to the developers and forum regulars that are here for advice and direction for our device and to MOTO " get off the toilet "  Oh and i wish no one would post that Oreo is rolling out until they have a screen shot of their device updated with it ! jS
Take it up with moto. Xda is hardly the place to rant about your impatience - it ain't gonna do ya any good here. Also won't do ya any good with moto, but that's your problem.

Jeez Mr. Serious ! Does every Thread have to be someone Crying cause they jacked there device It was more of a statement of benevolence with my fellow G5S Plus users . Believe me Im not so foolish as to think it would make a difference . I do believe the word discussion is used to describe the topics here . This was merely to fellowship in in the obvious anguish in this impossibly long wait for the update and a round about way to say thanks to all that participate in this forum that would most certainly include you in thanks as i see your a senior member . Hell at least it wasnt another thread with false info about the update  Chill and take a break man !
Like another thread is needed from someone crying about why their toy doesn't get attention - which by the way, I do find most humorous. Problem is, even a good joke gets boring when you hear it enough.

Well Im going to see what happens next month and if its another security patch im going to root again and play with stock as i normally do .
I'd rather wait extra time to get an update that is at least 95% stable and bug-free over an update with tons of bugs and issues.
Have some patience.
The whole point of xda is to go above and beyond just waiting for for the official release of anything , trust in the devs and rock on

Odds are good Oreo won't be till Sept. Moto appears to be following Google's rollout logic - that means 1 (at least) more beta/feedback/fix cycle, then release - maybe.

I've not heard anything about that - from what I've seen of other Moto Oreo updates, as long as the firmware you're locking with is as new or newer than your bootloader, it should lock(e.g https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-z-play/how-to/guide-relock-oreo-bootloader-to-stock-t3784621) . Of course, if you've updated to Oreo, that means you need the Oreo stock fastboot firmware to be leaked. Can I ask where you've heard that Oreo may block you from re-locking for Motorola devices?
Any older firmwares, including the ones we have available at the moment, may not work. There's also the caveats of re-locking not restoring your warranty and erasing your data during the process.

The amount of rumor and innuendo surrounding this release has been bordering on the ridiculous. I think this thread has helped me realize that the update may not be so wonderful . Several opinions stated prior reminded me that the anticipation could just be a big let down . I really want the volte problem with my phone corrected but it actually works just fine with out it. I do have hope that it corrects some issues like why did the imei and volte disappear and will the same happen with oreo . Also I wish I could speak Spanish i live in west Tx and I have searched for private tutors but its surprisingly difficult to find such a person . Redmi S2 Official Suspended Development

Hey MIUI'ers......
Today, I think I have no words to express the biggest...... What do u call it as......Hmm.... FAILURE OF XIAOMI I guess... Ok, let's go a year or a two back. The time when they launched the great budget camera smartphone- Redmi S2/Y2. This phone overall is a great phone with all the decent entry level specs. From the hardware side, I have no complaints at all. Overall everything was great. BUT, coming to the software, well, that's where the problem began to matter! They provided a 32bit ROM on a 64bit processor! I mean, like for real? Why? What was the matter? Ok, there was a lot of conflict for that issue. Then, it silenced a bit cause we used thought it'll be solved by an OTA update. But guess what? No! Xiaomi claims that their 'users' will lose their valuable data while shifting from a 32bit ROM to 64bit! So, they claimed they won't release the update for 64bit ROM. Well, y'all want our reply for that? Let the data go! We want that 64bit ROM, no matter what! Well ok, even after that, the company promised that they will definitely provide up-to-date software updates, at any cost no matter what! The Android Pie update and the MIUI 11 as well. They promised us users that they will release it before Q1 of the year 2019. We waited for that update eagerly. We were so eager for that update. It was suspended for 1 week. Ok, we'll wait for another. Even the second week. Ok, we'll wait for that next. Even the next, it was suspended. Ok, waiting for the next. And still this continued on and now, Q1 is over and Q2 has begun. And now, Xiaomi claims that they will release it in Q2! And we're like, "WHAT! IS THIS EVEN HAPPENING??? WHAT IS THEIR PROBLEM?" We S2/Y2 users have suffered a lot already. We don't have developers working on our phone at all. We just got few developers and we're grateful for them. All of us. But what did you do huh? Didn't provide a 64bit ROM, didn't release the kernel sources properly (most of it is broken) and now, didn't provide up-to-date software updates. You all appointed Beta Testers for this phone right? What happened to them? One leaked the ROM. How are you sure that the others won't? I BET YOU GUYS! ALMOST QUARTER PERCENT OF YOUR REDMI S2 BETA TESTERS DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW TO TAKE LOGS FROM THEIR PHONE! You appointed them just because they were always active on MI FORUM. And for no other reason. Look at the person's abilities and experience. Don't just look how much time they're online on

And about the 64bit ROM, we don't care about our data. Provide us the ROM.
And about the Android Pie update, please do accept the fact that,
"YOU FAILED". The whole Redmi S2 Beta Team failed! You couldn't keep up to your word.
So...... Yeah, we still hope a little from you that you will release the Pie update soon!

You said what all of us wanted to say.
All of us don't understand what is the problem with S2/Y2 'cause is a really amazing phone, but that haven't an support.
It's so hard develop a 64-bit rom for a phone that have Snapdragon 625?
It's look like a negligency of Xiaomi...
It's an so singular phone, why it haven't attention?

WHAT IS THEIR PROBLEM?" First, The development is still going on, just that the internal team is ripped. Second, Xiaomi already provided you the right information of this device. While you were buying why don't you ask them is the device came with arm64-v8a or armeabi-v7a?
I'm tired of seeing people post these kind of things because it doesn't even make sense for me.
Xiaomi didn't claim the device come with arm64-v8a. What Xiaomi claim is the device is arm64-v8a capable (64 bit Snapdragon 625)
