dont know if you guys experienced this or not, it seems like i cant get my phone to be fully charged after the 1.5 firmware update, it takes like 10 hours to get it fully charged. So i thought it was my phone, but after i get the replacement from t-mobile, its the same thing, so i thought its the battery, but after i replaced the battery which i got from HTC, it turns out to be the same....what do u guys think what happening to my phone ?
for example, if i charge my phone for 2 or 3 hours, and it says its 60% charged...then i reboot my phone, the battery bar becomes full, and i check the battery info, its 100% or 99%.....so you guys think it's the software issue ? maybe my phone is already fullly charged, but it just cant recognize it ? but this cant happen to 2 different phones with different batteries right ?
This happens to my phone even i flash it to the cyan 4.0.4
CyanogenMod-4.0.4
HardSPL
2.22.19.261
Please Help !!!!
weird, have u tried to UN-root?
ya...tried...was back to normal once when it was at 1.0 firmware, but then after i root or updated to 1.5 firmware, it happens again...i dont even know why this is happening
Anything running in the background sucking up battery power? Bluetooth enabled? Music/Video player "stopped"?
There is a file you can delete to make the phone forget its battery charge settings and start over. I searched but with the old Cy threads gone I can't find it. Try searching the forum a few different ways. Maybe it is also in a different rom thread. If I come across the file name I will post it here.
if i delete the file, would it indicate how much battery is left ? or how much battery has been charged ?
i think the directions on what file that needs be deleted are in the experimental thread, i remember reading about it as well. basically, what you are doing is deleting the old battery readings and the files that tell the phone how much juice the battery has left, and when you reboot after deleting them, it causes the phone to create new ones.

Try deleting batterystats.bin in /data/system if you upgraded without flashing. This will recalibrate your battery...

@StanSimmons thank you for finding the post.
in the recovery console
Code:
mount data
rm /data/system/batterystats.bin
reboot
Good job finding that post. I wish they would open the thread back up just for the troubleshooting info it contained.

they don't want it to turn into another "I hate google" thread. i am pretty much sure that is the reason they locked it.
so if i delete batterystats.bin , the battery indicator would back to normal ?not just going up by only 1% for every 10 minutes ?

I don't know, try it and find out. The worst you will do is waste a few minutes entering in a command and rebooting

what command ? im not a tech savvy guy...so i will make sure all things are ok before doing anything to the phone.
i put the command up in the first page of this hread ,and it was still there when i looked a minute ago.
so after i deleted the file, and i go to the recover console and type the commands and thats it right ?
i tried....didnt work....
i rebooted to recovery mode, then select console..input the commands....reboot the phone...problem still not solved....hmmm
If I remember correctly wasn't the procedure for resetting the battery to completely drain the battery till the phone shuts off on it's own, then charge the battery while the power is off till charging light turns green, then when you boot your phone use the terminal or adb to remove batterystats.bin

Yes those are the proper instructions. Don't do this very often though, its not good for Li-ion batteries
What an interesting problem. I have never run across this problem before.
Hey guys. I have one problem with my GT-p1000's battery. The tab was bought in UK in february and it had XXJK5 (November 2010) rom flashed in, also i haven't flashed any other roms yet.
So the problem is:
I use the wall charger to charge my tab and I usually plug it when I go sleep.
By the 19th of may it kept the charge well about 12 hours of intensive usage (web surfing via 3g/listening to music/playing HD games etc.) and I was satisfied enough.
But 3 days ago it started to claim constantly day by day on 47% that the battery is very low (1%) . I tried rebooting it time after time, deleting batterystats.bin file using root explorer, even full drain of battery up until it had no power to start and full cycle charging then, but all these attempts gave no result.
In other words, the battery suddenly drops from 47% to 1%.
I have no idea what to do in this case. Any suggestions?
P.S. Don't suggest me to flash newer rom, because it won't help to solve the problem. A friend of mine had the same problem with his tab and he tried a lot of different roms to flash, but it didn't help. He couldn't find any other solution and he finally sold it.
Sorry mate, i have the same problem. I can't use my Tab longer then 3 hours with very mildly use. From 80% to 3% in a flash, shutdown etc.
I tried lots of roms, resetting/deleting battery stats, touching the screen while turning on the tab, nothing helped.
The only thing i did not try was opening the Tab and remove the battery from the mainboard for a while. Some people say that helped. I could not find the right screwdriver so i just sent it to a repair center. I hope they will find out what's wrong.
Hello,
I had the same problem too, wiping battery stat did not help.
Flashing to Overcome v2.0 rc1 helped some people
but what I did was open up the tab with a tri wing screwdriver and unplugged battery for 30 mins and then plug it back in and it solved the issue.

Hi all
It all started when wanting to change my Android 2.2 to 2.3. I followed the steps
but when the installation using Odin, resumed in black screen (But music sounded the beginning), finding no solution tried down again to version 2.2.
P1000NUBJM2 version installed then, this worked, but every time I press the Power button the Galaxy restarts.
then installed a previous version P1000LVJJMA, also works, though now
said to be a P1000L.
Everything was fine until yesterday that the battery is completely drain. When
connect to the charger or usb cable, no load, the icon battery is flashing
after 1 hour is no more than 3 to 5% load.
Any ideas?
Hello,
I have a similair problem (but then the opposite) .SGT starts charging. After 10 minutes it gives the message completely charged. When I start using it within 5 minutes the battery is empty. I'm still on 2.2 because there's not enough time (battery) to flash it. This happened yesterday at once (only rooted it). I can see what's consuming the power but I can't influence how it's loading.
Could the 'rooting' be of any influence ?
Somebody else this problem ? Or even better an idea OR SOLUTION ?

I suggest you try to install another rom if you are capable of doing so.
one of the ROMs you used (P1000LVJJMA) contains (afaik) a protected bootloader, so what you basically need to do is to find yourself a rom that can be installed on that bootloader (e.g ROTO-JME), charge your battery, patch the bootloader, and update to something nice like overcome with gingerbread or something.
What actually causes the tab to not charge i cant tell you, but i've read on the forums that software is responsible for the charging-mechanism, so if the software responsible doesnt work properly, that can be a reason for it not to charge.
Sorry about your tab..
Hello guys! My sister and I both have the same phone, the Sony Xperia Z1s ( C6916 ), and with the new Lollipop update ( 14.B.0.236 ) that was just released, my sister updated her phone. Now her battery drains and she says her phone is lagging pretty hard. I have included three pictures with this post. The first one is the stock text messenger app for the phone and as you can see, it's blank. The second picture is just showing the specs in the About Phone page. And the last picture is the same as the first except it's been charging for ten minutes and hasn't gone up even one percent.
Does anyone else have this problem or knows how to fix this problem?
Does my sister need to backup and save her data and just do a clean re-install of the update?
If you guys require more information, I'll be happy to try and get it to you in a few hours.
Thank you!
Try letting the battery die until the phone switches itself off and then charge in back to full without touching it, then let it die again, and then do a full charge. Then she should be able to use it, apparently this forces calibration of the battery, if that doesn't work then try and clean install of the update.

Hi! I'll tell my sister to do just that. Thank you for your help!
I currently have a Sony Z1 Compact which I think the battery thermal sensor is broken...
It all started with, I have a Euphoria OS with android lollipop 5.1 installed and one day I was copying videos into phone, and then during that time.... my phone sudden rebooted when I was transferring videos from my laptop, and not just normal reboot, it keep on rebooting every time it succeed on loading into the OS. (Yes it will reboot every time it reached the lock screen....)
And I also tried restoring a backup it was the same too... so I decided to charge the phone instead of letting reboot, but sadly it won't charge too! So I just decided to leave my phone to run dry and then only charge it back to see if it will work again. I can still enter fastboot and flashmode during this time.
After it ran dry, I can't charge it, I can't enter fastboot nor use flashtool to flash back to stock too, so I decided to spend some money on getting a battery replacement.
Once I got my battery replacement, I instantly flashed back stock (yup with some capacity in battery I can enter fastboot) and I just found out that when I plug my phone to charge it shows "Your device turned off due to overheating ,charging will continue once the device cools down." even know the battery isn't heating, so I felt bad for the old battery as I assume it was in good condition but the phone just refuses to charge it!
So after researching I ended up with, I think the battery thermal sensor is broken and I saw something such as kernel has setting that can disable battery throttle, but I know it's risky but I don't use my phone much, all I use it is for listening to music, messaging if I receive a SMS or maybe a short call which won't go more then 2mins.
I want to ask if I can actually disable thermal throttle via recovery because even now that I installed back to stock it's the same still ( I still get reboots after every time it loads finish the OS, weirdly for custom ROMs it will run finish till optimizing apps finish then only it will show the "Shutting down..." message ).
I can provide my TWRP backup of my Euphoria OS upon request and I hope that someone can help me out!
Thank you very much and I hope that you can help me out! (Sorry English isn't actually my native language but I checked twice for spelling errors so I hope you can understand my situation!)
