Hello
I am in a great trouble and would really appreciates if someone can help me out here
I live outside U.S and I bought XT1060 verizon Moto X yesterday. The retailer put my GSM sim inside phone and it worked fine without any errors. Voice, sms and gprs was working fine. Phone was 4.4.2 Kitkat stock rom.
Last night i went to settings > about > system update. and there i found that an update is available for 4.4.4. I downloaded the update and installed it successfully without any error. Now my phone is working like before but it can not register my cellular network anymore :crying: No voice no sms no data.
It sometimes grabs the signals and then drops and sometimes shows full signal bars with "No Service" network settings.
I have tried UMTS/GSM mode and Global mode but no use. With global version it shows some 5 digit number on cellular icon in notification area.
Please somebody tells me if Verizon version is sim-lock free then why i am having this issue?

I have the vzw too, without issues. Try a factory reset maybe?

Due to the FCC rules around the 700mhz C block auction in the USA which Verizon won, they do not SIM lock their LTE phones. And the 4.4.4 OTA on the XT1060 definitely did not SIM luck the X.
Please make sure that your APN settings on your phone are still set correctly for your carrier. If they are not, your phone will not work.
While in many cases the APN settings come down automatically from the carrier, sometimes the phone relies on a table file that is part of the ROM itself instead. If the settings don't come down automatically, and the table got changed (either settings for your carrier were removed, or are no longer correct for your carrier in the 4.4.4 update), you must manually enter them to have working services.
You will have to check with your carrier what the correct APN settings are, and check them against your phone, or visit the GSM Retailer where you got your SIM, and ask them to check it.

Which table file of ROM your'e talking about ? How do i know that my carrier is already listed in that table and how to edit that table since my phone is not rooted even.
For an update, i went a retailer and there was a guy who took my phone and did the trick and my phone gets the sim registered for Voice and data (3G). I couldn't see him doing the magic but definately he didn't rooted the phone neither he crooks the ROM every thing was in its place when i get my phone back.
So wondering what he might have changed after which phone started working normal.

If you are rooted, take a look at -> /system/etc/apns-conf.xml
That being said, you don't need to be rooted to MANUALLY enter APN settings via App Drawer -> Settings -> More..(under Wireless & Networks) -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names... But you do need the right values, and to enter them without any typographical errors.
Hey guys,
I bought a Nexus 6 two months ago while I was on T-Mobile. I got fed up with T-Mobile service (constantly dropping calls, not receiving all text messages, etc) and decided to switch to Verizon. I took my phone to Verizon last night, they scanned it and gave me a nano SIM. I was surprised how easy it was, given the headaches others have seemed to endure trying to get a Verizon SIM. Everything seemed to work on Verizon's end, according to the person who helped me.
The problem is, I can't get LTE to work with voice/text. If I go to Settings -> More -> Cellular Networks -> Preferred Network Type, I have 3 options to choose from: Global, LTE/CDMA, LTE/GSM/UMTS. If I select LTE/GSM/UMTS, I get LTE data, but I can't send/receive calls or texts. If I select Global or LTE/CDMA, I can send/receive calls and texts but I only get 3g data. If I go to Phone Info (*#*#4636#*#*) and set network type to LTE Only, the same thing happens...LTE data only, but no calls/texts.
This is about the limit of my ability to troubleshoot problems. What am I missing?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!
Did you properly configure the APN settings for Verizon? Your problem may be with that. Do a Google search for Verizon APN settings for Nexus 6...your answer may lie there.
most people have to factory reset their phones when going from another carrier to verizon, to get lte to work properly.

There were about 50 APNs when I checked. I deleted all of them and created a new one based on the following:
Name: Verizon
APN: vzwinternet
MMSC: mms.vtext.com/servlets/mms (with http, but won't let me post when typed out)
MMS port: 80
APN type: default,supl,mms
Everything else was left default. Restarted my phone. I am still only getting 3g on Global and LTE/CDMA, still can't make calls with LTE/GSM/UMTS.

I did a factory data reset this morning.
There are at least 5 - and as much as 10 - APN setting setups for Verizon. You may have to try them all. I put a Verizon Sim in my N6 and they all showed up in the list of APNs. When you deleted them you may have deleted the one most compatible with the N6. You may have to reset, put back in the Verizon Sim, and hope they all repopulate the APN section. If not, you'll have to search for them all and try each setup.
I can reset the default APNs and they will all show up again...without having to factory reset.
Do I need to reset the phone without the Verizon SIM inserted? I left the SIM inside when I reset this morning. I only ask because you mentioned resetting the phone and then re-inserting the Verizon SIM.
Thanks for your help.
I generally remove Sims and SD cards (not applicable here) when doing a reset as my line of precaution. Since you are able to restore the default APNs, do so, and try each one till you get the proper one.
Tmobile has their own software version/radio pushed out to Nexus 6's. You can try loading the Verizon software version/radio and see if it works.
Try this one: http://www.randomphantasmagoria.com/firmware/nexus-6/shamu/vzw/

I found the problem. When the Verizon rep installed the sim, she immediately dialed *228. After googling LTE problems, I've found out that *228 on a LTE phone is a very bad thing. I got a new SIM and everything is now working.
Thanks again!

Hello,
I recently updated my Z3 compact (D5803) to android 5.1.1. on the T-Mobile network here in NYC. Ever since then, I frequently lose the ability to do anything data-based with the phone. No web browing, no chatting on whatsapp. I can still make phone calls and send/receive SMS, however. The data functionality returns when on WiFi, but goes away once I switch back to LTE. In order for me to get data on LTE, I have to manually download the internet settings for my provider to my phone (this is located under the Settings menu in android). Even then, it only lasts for several minutes before the data connection is lost. T-Mobile was unable to fix the problem, and changing the SIM card didn't resolve the issue.
Anyone else experience this?
Yes, many others have the same problem, see various posts in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/general/discussion-5-1-1-stock-released-post-t3162309
Currently, the best workaround seems to be to disable and re-enable mobile data, or to go to airplane mode and back again. That solves the issue until you drop LTE connection the next time, then you will have to re-iterate.

Yes I am having the exact same problem since updating to 5.1.1. As the other reply says turning airplane mode off then on is the quickest way to get connectivity back (swipe down twice from the top for quick access). This is terribly frustrating though, it only lasts for a few minutes. I can't believe they pushed the update with this issue!

My phone had this issue after the over the air update. I reset the phone to factory, wiped all data. Two days on, now, and no more problems with this.
Same problem. I tried factory reset out of desperation, but it didn't work.
Love this phone, but very discouraged by this bug.

As posted in the other thread, there is now a fix/workaround:
From reddit user FishStik5: Going into the APN settings and changing the APN protocol to iPv4 only (it was iPv6 before) seems to fix the problem.
How to find the setting: Settings-> Wirelessa and Network / more -> Mobile networks -> APN -> T-mobile data -> APN protocol -> Set to IPv4.

Looks like this worked for me (T-mobile, San Francisco area). Thanks for posting this
i'm having the same problem and didn't work for my the ipv4. still loosing data, i have to reboot the phone
I have also problem with that (Orange, Poland). I sent my phone to official Sony service, they reload the software, but I still have that problem. Lte is working for a while and when my phone switches to wcdma (because it is not in a range of lte) it is not working either. However, when I change the preferred network from lte to wcdma it is working without any issues.
Same problem here although I'm on ipv4 [emoji34]

I thınk you shouldnt buy operator phones. Buy ınternatıonal models next tıme
Mine isn't an operator model, I'm using Straight Talk and also have the issue. It made my phone useless....I almost never have data
This worked for me
This worked on my Doogee Valencia2 Y100Pro
Install and Open app "Hidden Android Settings" (by 0Alex)
Select choose and open "RadioInfo"
Move to Last option "TOGGLE DNS CHECK"
mine read "0.0.0.0 not allowed"
press the "TOGGLE DNS CHECK" so that it displays "0.0.0.0 Allowed"
That's it - my mobile data worked, I hope it works for yo

1. Change "APN Protocol" to IPv4
2. Change "APN Type" to: "default, supl" only
3. Change "APN" to "internet"
4. Save.
Best, Martin.

this is a bug on 5.1.1 sony need to fix it
Any news with this issue?
No problem here with LTE on the CM 12.1 Cyanogenmod flavor of 5.1.1 on T-mobile (that I've noticed at least). But I think CM 12.1 may handle the APN settings differently (mine is set to T-Mobile LTE ipV4) from the stock ROM or it could be something Sony messed up from the AOSP code. I'm NOT suggesting anyone try a CM ROM as a solution as there are lots of downsides to unlocking your phone and flashing any non-stock ROM. But the problem does seem to be specific to the Sony ROM and not 5.1.1 in general.
I also have this problem after the update to 5.1.1 in the Netherlands. The first problem was that the update changed some mobile data settings, so I downloaded the settings from my provider. Unfortunately those settings were also incorrect as I had to manually remove the APN's Proxy and Port (they were set, be needed to be 'not set'/empty). This improved the connection a bit, but it still looses the mobile data at certain places (where the coverage is good). Did a factory reset as the Sony helpdesk suggested. For a few days this seemed to help, but again the same issue came up. The suggested solution mentioned in this thread did not work as those settings are already applied.
I have a profider (Telfort) which uses another provider's network (KPN's). So after the update I also see a annoying R in the signal icon, where in the previous version it always showed H+, H, 3G.
Does anyone know if this is resolved in the new update?
After the last update and a new reconfiguracion on the APN now work correct for me.

And which version are you on? 23.4.A.1.200 or 23.4.A.1.232?
So on Monday ATT decided to deactivate my sim card because they believe my phone is incompatible with their network now. All my bars went to 0 with an x on it and I couldn't do anything on the phone. I went to an ATT store, got them to give me a new activated sim and I put it in my phone and all my bars came back.
My phone says VoLTE again too by the signal bar area. I also tested a text and it went through fine. I received a phone call and while it works fine, it sounds like junk now. Like it is no longer actually using VoLTE like it always has. My phone doesnt seem to have any data however, when it should have LTE just fine. I also cannot make any calls, even though it says VoLTE on the phone, it just re-routes to ATT customer service instead of going through with the call.
When I go into the network area in settings it says no IP address either. I looked and my APN is set to nxtgenphone, Preferred Network Type selected on LTE. Before ATT deactivated my sim card LTE has always worked fine, and LTE should still work fine. It is only the 3G network being shut down. Also given the fact I have the VoLTE icon the phone is apparently connecting somewhat to an LTE network.
So does anyone know how to fix settings to get data working again? Is it just an APN that needs to change? What is everyone else doing with the network shutdown and has anyone else had issues like this?
I had the exact same issue, your issue is in fact APN settings I'm having them as well. Try deleting your current APN and putting in a new one. Once I got a new sim my APN reset I could call but no data and no text. I have half of the APN information in place and have data and basic text, but once I input the MMS port the APN data disappears still trying to figure that out. Not sure if anything I typed is helpful but at least you know your not alone with a mi11 on ATT and it can work

Thanks for the reply. I tried deleting the MMS port and also the proxy just now and data didnt come back. I will try searching around for more APN info for how phones are supposed to connect now and see if I can find anything.
It looks like from what I could find that it is due to an IMEI whitelist ATT has, blocking data connection on any device not in their whitelist. The solution seems to be to root the phone and change your IMEI to a whitelisted model.
While my phone is rooted my IMEI is not cloned I definitely would not share my IMEI with ATT. When I got my sim card yesterday I had the attendant activate but I did not provide my phone so he did not get the IMEI from my phone. If you got a sim and they input your IMEI that could be a problem possibly. Just a suggestion to try and get a sim activated at a store without your phone.
I had also heard that most ATT MVNOs were not having the device whitelist forced on them yet, so I went and tried 2 different ones yesterday. Both failed to get the phone working on their network with their sims.
Before I went through the hassle of rooting (and most likely losing payments) I tried ATT again anyway. I used their online customer service chat and the first person I chatted with said he could help me with the lte data problem and the IMEI issue. I was skeptical, but he actually did fix it all up. He just needed my sim ICCID and my phones IMEI1 and he submitted the info to their backend people for adding to their system. It took almost an hour and a half for it to get added, but overall it was a pretty painless process and I was browing the web most of the time while waiting in chat. I now have LTE data again, VoLTE again, and "5G" too (which ATT 5G is really just one or two more features than normal LTE and is no faster in speed and uses LTE data bands). I attached a screenshot showing the data and VoLTE working on my phone. The first signal is ATT, the second is TMobile (which has always worked and never had an issue, their 3G network shutdown is going on for another 4-5 months)

Happy you are back up and running and I'm glad that you found someone at ATT to do the fairly easy work of getting your IMEI cleared. Lots of people have been worried about devices not working on ATT because of this whitelist issue glad to see there are workarounds just wish ATT didn't make it so convoluted.
Hi guys,
I have the P30 Pro since it was released and so far never had issues when traveling (from Germany) to other countries (mostly within Europe).
Last time it (voice and data) worked fine was this year in January when I went to Switzerland.
In April however I did not even get a signal (only emergency calls).
My provider confirmed there are no restrictions and nothing has changed.
The only thing that changed was the pushed EMUI 12 Update end of March...
I checked all roaming and apn settings, switched the sim card to another slot, rebooted, etc. Nothing helped.
Once I leave the German border only emergency calls are available. Coming back to Germany everything works fine again.
I was wondering if I'm the only one here with that problem and, in any case, how it can be fixed?
Will bring another phone on my next trip for further testing.
Thanks for you help!
Is 'Network provider' in network settings set to automatic?
Yes it`s set to automatic, I did not try changing it when I was abroad. Trying it right now it lists other providers but I can't connect to those.
Tried the same thing on the company phone (Samsung) with the same result.
Should be automatic, so looks correct. I would try another SIM (new number), if behaves the same way.
