It seems like there is no setting under DISPLAY to disable the RECENT and BACK lights on our phone. The only way I found was to turn on POWER SAVING mode. But that down clocks the phone. If there is a way to do this on 5.1.1, please share

Thank you boss.

I used to do things when the display is off with my old PDA phone but I found that my new Diamond tried to change my way of life, it will disable all key function when the screen is off except the keys of vol and up and down key. Does anyone know how to enable all key press when the screen is off? Many thanks
So what exactly would you do with your device when the screen is turned off for which you'd like the hardware buttons to work? I would imagine the only thing would be to control the volume slider etc which is already active. It kinda defeats the purpose of turning the screen off then don't you think?
Start/Settings/System tab/Key lock (or something like that).
There you can enable keys.

I used to use my ASUS PDA phone as a book reader in the way that I read a book with my ears using text-to-speech software while I am walking or riding. surely when I don't need to read the screen, the screen can be turned off to save power. In addition, I used the hardware keys to go backward or forward one sentence to control the reading speed. The point is this diamond seems to be unable to response key function with the screen staying off. Letting user to customize the device is the reason I choose WM over other devices like iphone, but HTC seems to break this way.
When I soft-reset my TD2, leave it be for a while so that backlight dims and then press a HW button or tap the display, backlight comes up back again. However, if the device enters standby the "resume backlight on user activity" function stops working properly for some reason. (I am not sure for how long TD2 has to be left alone - maybe 30 minutes, 1 hour?) Specifically, if the backlight dims and I go to Settings > System > Power > Advanced tab and uncheck "Dim screen after X s", the screen will light up, but if I check this checkbox again, the screen will dim even though I just interacted with the phone and the screen should therefore remain lit up. The only other way to get a fully lit screen (at least until it dims again due to user inactivity) is to lock the phone and unlock it back.
I should also add that this happens with the official stock WM6.5 ROM.
Is there anything in phone settings I should enable or disable, or is there any registry key I should set to some specific value for this feature to work properly again?
Thanks for any help.

I think, you could try to use Lumos that exist in this Thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2955401&postcount=1
Hakim,
thanks for the suggestion, however, in the meantime I learned that the issue is caused by the WM auto-lock feature (it is a bug that nobody cared to fix :-/ ). I was not able to find any useful work-around so I decided to install an application called LockDevice (it should be here somewhere on XDA Devs) which works very well and seems to be relatively light-weight.
Anyway, thanks again for your response.

Hello! I have strange problems with backlight
1) back light is turned off -- i can't see anything on the screen with the day light. Changing the brightness in Settings/Display don't help.
2) but, after power off+power on, backlight is OK for 10 seconds, and turns off right after that.
I find the guy with the same problem, but on droid 2 -- youtube.com/watch?v=RxHqN_lycG8
Btw, in "AP Fastboot" mode ("M" key+PowerOn), backlight is don't turn of.
I try some ROMs, they all don't work for me. Only "kexec CM10" ROM have one difference: if I turn the phone off and on, the backlight is turning on for the 1/2 of second, I can see the lock screen, and after that it is turned off...
What can it be? How can I fix it? Any ideas will be very appreciated! I very like my Droid3,and want it back

You'll have to try to turn the brightness up manually. It may be a broken light sensor. If you get in the right light you might be able to see the background and be able to turn it up.

In the dark room, I can see everything on the screen. Unfortunately, brightness in Settings/display does not affect the backlight on my device.
I set the brightness to the maximum, but it still too dark
Is it possible that the problem is in flexible cable?
On the M8 if you press the volume buttons while the phone is horizontal the camera is enabled.
The problem I have it the cradle that I use to carry the phone always has the phone in a horizontal mode and if my belt or something happens to hit the volume buttons the camera is turned on. I notice the phone getting hot when the camera is on for a long time.
Is there a way to stop this? I looked in the settings and thats where I saw the function to turn on the camera with the volume buttons when the phone is horizontal but I can't find anything to disable this.
M8 still unrooted and bootloader is locked. I will be getting around to those things shortly.
Anyone?

Settings --> Display & gestures --> Motion Launch gestures --> Turn them off. You can't edit what volume buttons do as far as I know, so just turn the motion gestures off. It saves battery a good bit with them off anyways. If you root, there may be a way to change just a specific gesture, but I'm not sure about stock.

I will give it a try. I did not want to completely remove the gestures but it would make my battery last longer without having the camera turn on when not intended.

I looked into it a lil more, no way to edit the gestures individually on stock. Need xposed to edit them each
I have found ways to dim and turn off the capacitive buttons using screen filters and Gravity Box, but I can't seem to find a way to time them out. It would be great to watch videos and use the daydream feature without the buttons being lit up the whole time (and not having to go out of the way to turn them off.) Does anyone have any ideas?
