Rooting without tripping knox warranty bit 0x1 - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi.. is there any way on how to root galaxy note 5 (SM-N9208) but without tripping knox warranty bit 0x1 ?

No

If you root your device you void your warranty. Live with it.

i cannot live in the world without root..
all of my previous apk cannot run now..
if we didn't flash recovery with twrp or phillz touch, and still keep with official recovery, once we root this phone, it's still trigger knox warranty bit ?

Device cannit be Rooted without Kernel. You have to flash Kernel through odin, or you need Custom Recovery to flash Kernel which you still have to flash Recovery through odin, so you have always tripped Knox.
Every odin flashes besides official frimwares etc. trippes Knox

Can't flash anything and no root

Hello everyone,
I'm encountering some problems:
I'm running ROMOW v1 ICS but I want to change to another ROM, but that's impossible for me:
- Probably I lost root: cannot get root access or use apps which require root
- Cannot connect to pc for transferring ROMS: ROMOW gives problems with MTP, in CWM I cannot mount USB storage:
"E: Unable to open ums lunfile (No such file or directory)
So I cannot flash new ROMS 'cause I don't have the possibility to connect my Note to pc and I don't have root.
How to solve?
I want to run TeamRocket v1.4 ICS ROM
If you have lost root, you cant install custom ROM
Root is not needed to connect to PC, you can flash any older ROM with PC odin, get Root + CWM, then flash custome ROM using CWM

Dr. Ketan is right as usually. However, there might be an easier way for you to get out of trouble.
Read this.
Maybe you could start from scratch by:
Boot in downloadmode
Flash a stock rom from here using Odin. (warning: read the thread: newer stock roms are not rootable, use an older stock rom)
Root it again
Load a custom rom of your choice
hey I just had the exact same issue. put the phone into download mode, flashed netchips cwm update (I still had it lying around) and re-installed Xtra Lite Rom.

have you used PC Odin to flash Netchip CWM ? Look to your flash count then.(at Rt upper corner during Download mode)
yes I did, my flash count is now 2, current binary: custom

yes it has to. B'coz netchip method is very first method came to root, but now not used, just b'coz of that. right now you are running without warranty, if you are not concerning for same, nothing to worry, otherwise you need Jig to reset your counter. It should be 'zero', you have 2, means you did it two times.

Chainfire wrote a program to reset the counter in ICS, it's called triangle away.
Swyped from the white galaxy, 2 stars to the left.

im having the problem but i have root but i cant flash back to my old rom i can get into cwm and select the a rom from sd but it dose nothing

OK How in the heck did I get Full Root on LPY??

Flashed LPY Stock over CheckRom/Abyss 6.2 Red Pill using Mobile Odin Pro. I did NOT flash CF Root Image file as I did not want any CWR yet.
Checked inject SuperSU. Everroot, Inject Odin, all wipes and flashed.
Phone booted fine to ICS with full root..... I know the stock LPY Kernel is not rooted and Recovery is stock.
Does Mobile Odin Pro have SuperSU as part of it's app or did it inject the root from the GB Abyss Kernel?
What are the ramifications of future flashing?
Should I flash DAFUQ Kernel to get a "safe" CWR TO FLASH ZIP FILES?.
Shoud I use Dr Ketan's Method of temporary CWR for a single flash?
Should I wait for Mobile Odin Custom ROM Tar files?
I know when flashing a custom ROM I will get permanent CWM either way as part of that ROM. Since I have not seen a ROM ready for prime time for me yet and my phone is doing very well, I am in no hurry to flash anything. I was just wondering where peoples minds are on this situation.
Lol! You ticked inject supersu an everroot and you're surprised you got SuperSU and root?

LOL...No not surprised..... I was just wondering where SU came from...Mobile Odin or my previous ROM/Kernel. Doesn't matter now because I just flashed CF Root with CWM anyway through PC Odin. Wiped the triangle and going to flash some ROMS.
May as well as I will need CWM to wipe and flash .. If I brick. meh so be it. The S3 is looking good. and my back up S2 will suffice.
I really don't want to deal with tip toeing around a device in order to try different ROMS based on good sources. So I will proceed as normal until something goes a miss and then throw it away or wait until the Devs find a fix...........and wait for the S3 and Note II

[Q] Need some help, please...

Well, I tried flashing CWM on my T mobile Note 4, and it never worked. I used Odin, and while it said it worked, I still get stock recovery. HOWEVER, when I check for OTAs, my phone says it has been modified and I need to use Kies. I'm on stock firmware and haven't even rooted, so wold it be posible, much less safe, to update via Kies when lollipop rolls out? I haven't deleted any stock apps, and as previously stated am on stock firmware and recovery and am
not rooted.
I'm not that familiar with Kies, but for sure you will be able to update by Odin flashing the Lollipop firmware once it gets posted. Your CWM flashing may have worked but then the recovery got overwritten at boot by the stock ROM. But unfortunately that would trip your Knox flag and give you 'modified' status. If you try flashing CWM again, uncheck auto reboot, and then try booting straight into recovery.

questions:
1.) How did you flash CWM without root? If you attempted this with ODIN you tripped KNOX and therfore voided the warranty and the abilitity to get an OTA.
2.) If you already have ODIN installed and know how to flash with it why bother with Kies and/or OTA's? You can use ODIN to flash the update as soon as it is posted only. With this dev community it shouldn't take too long.
Also if you are looking to use a custom recovery you should work with TWRP. Technically CWM and Philztouch are no longer being support. Finally if you already tripped KNOX by trying to flash custom recovery, why not just root the thing now. There really isn't much of a different now.

This is how you root:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2903733
If you want an update later you can always odin to stock + factory reset.

Rooting 5.1.1 on N910G - rather easy!

If you decide to download the AU ROM for N910G (which works great for other regions), you can easily root it by flashing the permissive kernel for the N910F.
AU ROM thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/general/sm-n910g-lollipop-5-1-1-released-t3215823
N910F kernel thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/snapdragon-dev/kernel-5-1-1-selinux-enforcing-t3190799
So in short:
Download the ROM and flash via Odin.
Download the latest TWRP and flash via Odin. It will also install SuperSU.
Flash the kernel via TWRP (ensure you copy it to your external SD in advance).
That's all! You end up with a rooted N910G that is smooth and a far cry from the laggy monster that was 5.0.1!
Worked great! Thanks!!
Works perfect on 910G thanks.
Is it true that after flashing TWRP, when the phone switches off & on, quickly press 'buttons' for recovery and flash the new 2.49 SuperSU app.zip instead of letting TWRP install it as TWRP installs an old superSU & is outdated... ??

You can always flash the latest or update SuperSU anytime.

I presume this still trips knox?
Those who have warranty and don't want to trip knox, I don't think there is any root method available. All root methods trip knox and hence warranty issue, for those who don't have warranty they can forget knox.
Warranty doesn't concern me, I use the phone for work and tripping Knox would stop the phone working on the work network.
But it sounds like this will trip it, so yeah I'm not going to.
Thanks though.
Link no work.

Root N910G
Hey,
I've searched everywhere, most of us aren't able to root since the link for the kernel is not working. Is there any other way to get root on N910G? :fingers-crossed:

Quick question for "No knox root on 5.1.1"

I've tried to follow this guide: How to Unlock/Root Your Galaxy SM-G920T 5.1.1 without Tripping the Knox
But my phone has the build number G920TUVS3DOJC and it doesn't work when flashing through ODIN, is it because the guide is only for older build? Im hoping other OJC users could answer this.
Thank you

Here's what you do.. to root
First method is Custom recovery and root
Download Unikernel v8 zip from your phone it will be in your phone download memory.
Then Open Odin on a pc find tmobile s6 twrp recovery in Google search as a .tar format
Flash that in Odin
Then once you have Twrp recovery find the Unikernel inside download folder and flash it with twrp
YOUR ROOTED .
If you do not want a custome recovery and just root only Flash the unikernel v8 as a .tar format file With Odin.

I'm not sure about the Nor trip Knox method
This method is fast It will trip Knox but who cares likely you own the Phone or take care of it well.
And plan to use carrier insurance if ever need be
Tripping Knox isn't a big deal Unless you ever need to send to Samsung. Most people Insurance claim and Knox is never a issue cause they send these out to be refurbs.
