I was using an app called bootbox I changed the boot screen animation. I backed up the original boot screen animation. I also did an online nandroid backup to the sd card 01, removable. I saw another boot animation I wanted to try but bootbox doesn't give the option to delete a previously downloaded boot animation. After the second boot animation the phone would go into a bootloop. So I powered it up and held down the power button. I restored it with the backup without wiping the phone. It gave me a missing boot error. Now the device is hard bricked with only the led occasionally on green when holding down the power button with it plugged into my laptop with the battery out. Then the led just sits flashing red in second intervals. It won't come on period. Is there a way to get my phone out of this hard brick status? Thanks. I have the X Rockers rom installed on it, it's rooted, with an unlocked bootloader and Android 4.3. When holding down power and volume buttons it no longer vibrates, just the LED either comes on green for 10 seconds if just the power button and blue for 10 seconds with power and volume buttons. The LED stays solid then after 10 seconds shut off and nothing. Thanks.
In your case, if flashtool or other tool doesn't work at all, you better to bring your device to SC. or upgrade your device..

It's not hardbricked. Green led = Flashmode / Blue led = Fastboot mode.
If it's flashing Red than most likely your battery is depleted. Since it doesn't seem to be a kernel problem, try charging your phone normally, or get a replacement battery, or use a universal battery charger, then you can try booting into Recovery and use ADB to delete the bootanimation.zip file that most likely is preventing the phone from booting up (or any other file, don't know what Bootbox does).
If that is too complicated for you, you can always connect it in flashmode and flash a stock rom again, since your bootloader is unlocked. Just remember the key here is to charge your battery.
cool but

How do I get into recovery or flashmode and what is adb? Bootbox simply changes the boot animation. The phone ? also doesn't vibrate. When you connect it to the laptop it makes the usb connect sound then 10 seconds later the usb disconnect sound happens. Thx A.
Hi xda people .
I need some help with my Xperia Z , yesterday i flashed a Rom 5.1.1 slim official and gapps .
after the flasing was finished via phils recovery and gapps zip flashed , the phone rebooted like normal .
it was loading the apps and stuff to be ready after the first install , then the phone went burning hot and restarted ( just to be clear the phone was not connected to a usb and it was not charging ) , and after that i have no success in flasing a stock FTF with flashtool or repair with SUS.
the phone Fasboot still works / Flash Mode works / but when i flash a stock system the phone dont boot past the sony Logo , it switches on and straight after the logo i can see the screen flash 2 times and it switches off again and restarts
pressing the Vol UP and holding the power button down 20 sec have not helped also .
can some one please help me :crying:

Firstly, make sure you cool down completely your device, after that give a try to fastboot flash any rom you desired. Maybe your phone is too hot and it doesn't boot-up/work?
I got the tft flashed , pure v 3.1 lollipop 5.0 2 . But the phone works only on a charger , if i dont the phone starts boot looping , battery shows 89% , if i open camera or any other power demanding app the phone dies again , cant do a battery test phone restarts .
small update
Battery level is at 100 % ( Green Light was light in the morning ) Phone turns off after removing main charger from wall / / phone dont turn on when using regular usb2.0 cable and connected to computer , ( using usb 3.0socket with extra power ) phone turns on then .
When Phone Charge level is at 80 % phone turns off again , then i went to recovery ,battery level is shown 100 %, restart system again need to connect to wall charger again and switch on phone, after boot when when system is loaded to desktop phone show charge level 80 % and switch off again soon after that.
battery is calibrated using a app from play store ( now the phone holds the charge but still reboots when the charger is not connected ( Need to plug in the charger again to boot the phone back up to desktop.
remove cable again , after about between 3-10 mins phone is off again , try to turn it back on cant wont go past sony logo starts boot looping , connect charger again all seems good until removed again .
Battery health status is shown (good)
Flashing any other ROM or original TFT for android wont help
the issue is still there the phone dont boot to desktop unless a power cable is connected
now switched on the phone again with 100 % in the battery , wifi and other stuff switched off
made a test phone call to a friend all working fine no reboots , but why on earth the phone switches off again when it reaches below 80 %. or when i connect to a wifi or mobile network try to make a picture instant reboot if no charger is connected.
im out of ideas :silly:

do not reboot phone with USB cable connected.
use power+vol up to reboot
are you using HTC orginal cable???
Do you have the USB Debugging enabled ?
original cable, debuggin not changed becausa frash rom flashed....I solv it with volume- + volume+ + power=shoutdown
I'v installed the last stock firmware.
Now there is another problem: the phone is completely drained, put it on charge, and after a while I displayed a black screen, with the logo of the battery in the middle, and bottom of the red "This build is for developement purpose only .... ", red LED flashing. Cut the cable, it will not budge from that screen, compelled to force a shutdown (volume keys + power). Then boot normally.
How can I avoid this problem?

you recovery might be corrupted. re-flash. i advise TWRP.
charge phone when off for a while the remove cable and turn it on.
if LED its flashing, it means its not charging.
The problem happens only when the battery is fully discharged. When I connect it to the charger, the LED flashes, and appears on the screen the logo of the battery and the red lettering at the bottom. Then, after a while the charge, forcing poweroff the phone with volume buttons and power, and the phone will restart correctly.

We agree that you intend to solve the problem, but till the time a solution is not found its advisable to keep the phone into ultra power saving mode at 15% or 10%, this will give about 8-15 hours of time to find a charger to charge your phone.
For me I have never let my phone die out of charge and I don't have a charger with me every where.
The only way to know if this is a recovery problem, which I doubt, is to flash the stock recovery and stock boot and check.

NB: MAKE SURE YOU HAVE MORE THAN 75% BATTERY.
My mum tried to do the last update on her phone, during which most probably battery ran out - now phone is basically a brick.
When turned on it's stuck on logo loop, rebooting itself every 5-10 seconds or so vibrating once and repeating. When unplugged or plugged into the wall none of the button combinations work - the phone basically ignores everything.
When plugged to PC via USB I can invoke "updating process"? with Volume Up + Power / Volume Up combination, which should lead me to recovery menu - instead the phone goes into "update", loads bar up to 25%, gets stuck for about a minute or so, reboots and goes into logo loop.
Hard reset also "works" when plugged into PC - update screen shows up, gets stuck on 1%, phone gets hard rebooted, update comes up again, goes up to 25%, reboots and on to the logo loop...
Can I even somehow get into recovery mode to wipe cache to allow the phone to get update again or even wipe data to flash custom ROM? Screw data, I just want to make it work and not have a brick lying on the desk...

Have you tried using reiboot-for-android.exe by Tenorshare Co Ltd? Might help. Or if the device is within warranty then try Service Centers for that device.
You can try flashing stock rom from odin.
Download your current stock rom from samfw.com and extract the zip file.
Install odin and samsung usb drivers (link) and reboot your pc.
Reboot into download mode from your phone and press volume up:
Keep USB connected, Hold Volume Down and Power buttons, When screen turns off, hold Volume Up and Volume Down buttons

Click to collapse
Open odin and load the files:
AP = AP*.tar.md5, BL = BL*.tar.md5, CP = CP*.tar.md5, CSC = CSC*.tar.md5

Click flash and wait till it says pass
Press and hold volume down and power to reboot. The first boot can take a while. Hopefully this will fix it.
