My android is 5.1, if I return the system to 5.0 there is risk of hard bricked?
Sort of. Read over this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3116379

Hello,
I Have bricked my Droid bionic while it was on the 238 ICS leak and I was hoping someone may be able to help. Unfortunately, my friend was helping me and try to flash it back to 902. As we all know and as he found out, that bricked the phone pretty badly. Is it toast now or can I save this thing?
Thanks
I once had the same thing happen to my Droid X. I tried to go back to a previous version from a leak and couldn't fix it. Not even the people at the Verizon store I took it to could fix it. They set me up with a warranty replacement because they thought it was caused by a virus or something. I was lucky. Of course now I keep my phone insured, just in case.
Try this. It may help you get back up and running.

Note: ics leaks from version .235 and higher can NEVER go back to GB (.902 or .905)

every post involving 235+ typically comes with giant red wording that states... eh no use now :sly:

Looking for the gsm Dev edition 4.4 recovery. I boot loader unlocked and installed twrp to flash supersu, but now I want to go back to stock recovery for OTA ability and I'm not positive the recovery is any different from the other moto x versions.
Thanks!

I read your post, what is the issue? I have the same device and the stock firmwares are available for you. I am confused. You can get the proper images needed and flash through fastbooot. Your bootloader is unlocked so it's possible.

I'm looking for stock recovery after rooting my phone. I want to stay rooted, I'm not looking to RSD back to stock.

Then download the stock restore package, use Moto's Fastboot, and only flash the recovery image.

So I'm planning to root my X for the first time and I'm on stock 5.1.
As long as I remain on stock the moto features do not get affected right?
Also, if I am on stock rom but rooted, will it affect any future OTA?

The stock features remain unchanged after root.
You can't take an ota with root. You have to be 100% stock for updates to work.

Its worth noting that you can just fastboot flash the system prior to taking an OTA to allow it. No need for a full factory reset or anything.

There you go. 100th thanks
Also, how do I check the status of my bootloader? I've got a pure edition. Pardon me for the stupid question but I've never used a device other than a Samsung which were pretty straight forward to root.
If by any chance I need to come back to stock rom what would the steps for that be?

1) Power off phone; 2) Tap and briefly hold Power and Volume Down. The bootloader version will show at the top of the next screen.
I sideloaded 5.1 and would like to downgrade.
You can't. It's that simple.

Will I be able to update to M when it comes out or will I have to keep sideloading since I did it once?
Anyone know what I would need to do to update now that I am rooted? When I check for updates on the device, it tells me that system files have been altered and doesn't work. Is there a step I need to take before I can update? I sense marshmallows on the horizon.
