(bootloader) Could not get unlock data! on 2014 XT1095/TMo RMA Replacement - X 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After a month Motorola finally admitted that my replacement 2013 Moto X was NOT ready for shipping, but that they had none to give me, and sent me a 2014 Moto X XT1095 TMoSIM unlocked model. However, this model gives me the following error:
fastboot oem get_unlock_data
...
(bootloader) Could not get unlock data!
OKAY [ 0.043s]
finished. total time: 0.047s
Is OEM Unlocking turned on in Developer Options? Yep. Am I sure it's an XT1095? (bootloader) sku: XT1095 Yep. What's my CID? (bootloader) cid: 0x0000.
I asked in the Motorola forums and was told that I have to send it back to get them to replace it. Clearly this thrills me to no end, but I figure I'd ask here before attempting that much fun. Is there anything I can do to get this pig to allow me to unlock the bootloader?

First, turn on debugging mode. And then type 'fastboot oem unlock' from fastboot mode.
Sent from my XT1095 using Tapatalk

I had debugging mode on, and tha tcommand is what you enter with the unlock code, but I went in and did it all just not anyway.
(bootloader) fastboot oem unlock [ unlock code ]
Then the get_unlock_data command, still no dice.

XT1092 Carrier ID Needed (UK/EU Unlocked)

Hi All,
I need to find the carrier ID for my XT1092 which is a UK Unlocked International Version.
I set it to "irl" during a ROM flash back to stock, which stops the APN setting up correctly.
If anyone has a UK unlocked edition can you goto the bootloader and run the command "fastboot oem config carrier" and output the results??
If should look like the picture attached, but the section "irl" should be something else.
attachment.php
I am on EMobile Ireland as the network, but expect the carrier ID to be a unlocked non region specfic one I think as the phone was bought direct from a supplier.
Thanks
Hi,
Has anyone a EU/UK unlocked to get the carrier ID?
Thanks
Anyone?
Hi Again,
Anyone out there able to help with checking their Carrier ID?
Thanks
Hi mate,
it might be strange, but I got the following output (unlocked bootlader, UK retail phone, retgb). Checked a couple of times, always the same.
$ fastboot oem config carrier

I guess the command you mentioned is for changing the carrier only, it doesn't echoes the current value. I've googeled a bit and found the fastboot getvar all command, and maybe the last value of its output might be the carrier you'd need. I'm not an expert, so don't take it for granted, that's all I could figure out now.

Hi All,
Thanks for the replies, and my late check in, was travelling for work, I also had someone confirm for me via PM.
It does look like it should be blank, but I can't figure out how to remove the carrier ID I entered in error.
The issue it causes me is the APN, they appear to be setup but don't work, if I manually create them again it works fine with the same settings.
So I assume the ID is doing something odd.
Looking at flashing a complete custom ROM to hopefully erase the carrier ID then flash back to stock.
Unless anyone has any other advice I think I'll try this and post the results in the coming days.

Since he is stuck in fastboot, I assume not.
Just reflash stock whatever firmware you were on before you tried upgrading. You can do this with all fastboot commands. Your phone is far from a "paper weight" if you can still get into fastboot, most classify this as a "soft brick."
Instructions on flashing the stock firmware can be found on the Moto X FAQ. https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/help/wip-frequently-questions-moto-x-2014-t2876769
Alternatively, I'm a huge fan of House of Moto: http://www.droidrzr.com/topic/61124-house-of-moto-43/ - automates a lot of the flashing process for you. I like to always have an install of House of Moto ready to roll incase of soft bricking.

You must have the unlock.bin from motorola official site to unlock bootloader.
After send the unlock.bin to your mail you move it to adb folder etc.

In bootloader mode of course.
EDIT: You can get the latest fastboot and adb from here:

Looks like your bootloader is older, but it shouldn't matter, I think I unlocked mine before the Android 6.0 update, I then relocked it, and unlocked it again a second time. I'm sure a lot of RETBR phones have been unlocked around here. I just can't see what the problem is. But don't try downgrading, you may brick the phone. I don't know what else to suggest. I'm sure you've installed the Motorola USB drivers, but I don't think that's the issue.
Try the Motorola (Lenovo) forums, you can submit your getvar to them, and they will send you an unlock code in a few days:
https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/forums/v3_1/forumtopicpage/board-id/230/thread-id/2654/page/1
Good Luck!
They have forums in Portugese.

Hi guys thanks for passing by... i have this issue with my phone and i need some info to see if i finally drop it or if i can do something by myself to get back my phone...
the issue is that when i woke up i found my phone on the black screen of the fastboot flash mode (s) whit this message *unable to validate system so i guess that i lost the system,
when i tried to get back to my system it went back to the fastboot screen, reading for a while i decided to flash back my phone but i have the Bootloader locked, knowing that i lost the firmware of the phone, info that read in some forums decided to ask you guys what can i do, thing is that i can't flash
*Logo
*Boot
*Bootloader
*Recovery
*System
Cant erase anything either cus if i do the factory reset sends me again to the fastboot flash mode again. tried to unlock the Bootloader with the code and it says "allow oem unlock" in developers option... so ya... im completely blocked up cus can't access to the phone so my question is there's something that i could do i got the tools like msfastboot fastboot adb and some others that it says that does something but none of them helped me .

Moto G2 XT1072 can't boot

Hi all,
I had a XT1072 with Android 6 and wanted to go back to 5 due to problems with GPS.
I unlocked the boot loader, flashed stock ROM with Android 6 and all was fine.
I next tried to flash stock ROM with Android 5 and was stuck in fast boot with errors like "invalid system image signature" or similar.
Next I messed around with TWRP, stock again, lock, unlock... a mess.
Now it's stuck in fastboot with status "LOCKED, status code 2" (0 is LOCKED, 3 UNLOCKED, 2 what is it?)
I tried flashing stock ROM both 5 and 6 in different versions:
RETDEALL_XT1072_5.0.2_LXB22.46-28_cid7_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml
RETESALL_XT1072_5.0.2_LXB22.46-28_cid7_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml
RETGBALL_XT1072_5.0.2_LXB22.46-28_cid7_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml

Motorola_Moto_G2_XT1072_MPB24.65-34_CID12_6.0
But all fail with "failed validation";
Unlock fails, but I cannot boot in Android to change mentioned option:
Code:
mfastboot-v2> .\mfastboot oem unlock XSVDURWNGOWYDFMGU5ZT
...
(bootloader) Check 'Allow OEM Unlock' in Developer Options.

Sometimes the bootloader will relock, when using a custom recovery is used.
I'm not sure why usually when trying to install a rom.
It's very common, but it happens on many Moto devices.

Colud it work on a Win7 on a Virtual machine or does it need direct access to USB ports? At the moment I have not an old Windows available.

(bootloader) ro.build.fingerprint[0]: motorola/thea_reteu/thea:6.0/MPBS2
(bootloader) ro.build.fingerprint[1]: 4.65-34-5/6:user/release-keys
This should be the correct firmware

XT1072_THEA_RETEU_6.0_MPBS24.65-34-5_cid7_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip
Try flashing
Code:
fastboot flash partition gpt.bin
fastboot reboot bootloader
Then flash the firmware using the flash_file.xml as reference.

Do not downgrade unless the bootloader says unlocked again.
If the bootloader is reported as unlocked again,
