Ok guys, so i got my Htc One M7 2 days ago (bought allready used one) and everything works like a charm.
Except two things...
First, my SPEAKERS sound isn't great, it's low sound and somewhat disorted. I tried to sort it out with a toothbrush and it helped a little bit but still that isn't that.
Other thing that really annoys me is NOTIFICATION LED. I have one, it blinks, but it is so small. I can't see it, i need to look really carefully. I can see my friends htc one m7 and his notification led is much biger. Why's that? Any help would be apprecieted. Thanks.

Exactly the same thing here. I had 3 M7s on my table yesterday evening, and mine was the only one with low led light and low shallow sound. Two phones with nice bright leds and good sound are not rooted, while my is, with stock ROM and custom kernel. First I thought it was factory related thing, but after asking around and seing for myself, I can only conclude that unlocking bootloader has something to do with it. I know it sounds stupid at best, but I couldn't find any other answer. My phone is s-off, so I tried going all the way back to Jelly Bean stock and nothing changed, my led is stll barey noticable. Now, I'm looking to find a software way to brighten up the led

Try this https://youtu.be/-NngAUWHHyo
Maybe there is some dust on the LED, becouse my m7 light is as bright as my brother's while mine has an unlocked bootloader and his one is still locked.

Really annoys me.. despite that it's a great phone, even though it's couple years old still works as a charm and looks very expensive.
In my opinion this is one of the best if not the best loking android phones out there.
At some point his phone also sounded better. I user a toothbrush and after that i user a vacuum cleaner with a straw taped at the end to get all the dust.
After i user the toothbrush for a while i started seeing specs of dust in my screen that came out the speaker holes. Just do it long enough and use some pressure.

It is a good looking phone but it is really slippery in the hand so using a case is a must for me. I own a black one so scratches are really visable becouse the paint layer commes off when it gets scratched. I have a lot of tiny white pits on my one's back, i think becouse of dust that was trapped inside my case.

So I got my one about a week and this morning I noticed some backlight bleed and a dead pixel in the bottom right corner. Anyone else have this issue? Now that I know its there, its gonna bother me haha. Should I get it exchanged or is this a relatively normal phenomenon?
I have a stuck pixel in the top left and I'm getting it replaced & what light bleed?

Haha I know its not that big, but viewing form certain angles it def look much worse than the photo I posted. On top of that, the dead/stuck pixel isnt helping, i think i just got a lemon. So looks like its gonna get exchanged
Mines has a few of those stuck pixels. It is already under RMA cross shipment, waiting for replacement to send it back. I would sent it back 20 times if I have to till I get a perfect one (I doubt this is even possible with at least the current batch of phones). HTC has a horrible quality control. Mines also has rough cutout around the headphone jack and the top left corner bezel sticks out a tiny bit.

Order 5 of them at once, compare them for quality then send back the remaining ones or sell them on ebay , you are going to get it all back eitherway
You think yours is bad, check out the one I received.

I have light passing thought, not like a beam..... but more of a visible gap to the right of the home button.
Its only visible in dark, naturally because the hardware buttons dont come on in the day. But its there.
Id take that one back or see if you can RMA it because that defective for sure.
Update...Exchanged the phone without any hassles, the new does not seem to have have any issues so far, hopefully stays that way
Hi guys!
I just got my HTC one about a month ago, recently I found that there's a weird vibrate sound every time I put my phone on a hard surface "gently". It sounds like there's something loose inside the phone. So I tried tapping the upper part of the back plate on my palm and I heard that sound every time I did it. But when I tried it with the bottom part of the back plate, it just sounded like a solid piece of metal. I always baby my phones, this phone has never been dropped, smacked or anything. The weird thing is that I asked my friend who has an HTC one to test it and he told me his had that weird sound too. I'm just wondering if this is normal? Or it's just me and my friend are so unlucky. The sound really makes my phone like a piece of junk that's gonna fall apart soon. Could some HTC one owners try what I did and see if yous have the same issue please?
I'm gonna contact my carrier Rogers tomorrow but I have a really bad feeling about this. I don't wanna have my phone sent for repair because it's only 1 month old and I don't want a refurbished one either. God, tomorrow is the 30th day since I got this phone. I guess I better do something soon. Has anyone had any return/exchange/repair phone experience with Rogers?
sorry about my poor English cuz it's not my first language.
thank you so much guys!!
Mine clicks a little too. Probably just the flash touching the housing or something similar. Wouldn't worry about it as long as everything works.

Yup. Since the phone has optical image stabilizer, it will surely have movable parts in the camera module, this is normal. Same is true for Canon lenses with IS.
Hi everyone! So I've been having this problem with my One from the beginning, where the top speaker sounds softer than the bottom speaker. It actually feels that it is increasing over time. I've tried a few others at the service center, and all had the same problem. So the real smartass guys there said that it's meant to be like that if most pieces have it. Thing is, it isn't supposed to be like this, and I'm pulling my hair out now. I saw two of my friends phones, which sound perfectly balanced.. I read somewhere that it could be because of dirt accumulated in the speakers, so I took a thin paintbrush and brushed over the top speaker, but that doesn't seem to have made any difference. I'm on ParanoidAndroid now, but even on sense, the problem was prominent. Even after turning on beats audio, it was still very audible. Also, it sounds like the top speaker is trying very hard to be loud, and you can feel it vibrate as hard as the bottom speaker, but it just sounds like it's being blocked/restrained. Any ideas/solutions? Except giving it back to HTC and waiting for a week while praying for the best?

Hmm. Do you hear the top speaker sort of "washed out" compared to the bottom one? And when you get the phone closer, the difference gets less noticeable? Describe your problem a little..

The problem is the service center technicians don't accept the problem of imbalance. They say that all the other phones have it, so this will have it too.. And I really have no energy left to argue with those noobs after getting my phone repaired there numerous times.. Well I guess I'll just sell my phone, it's just been full of problems ever since I got it. At the risk of going off-topic, you're from India, what would you see as a good price for this perfect (except for speakers) 2 month old, November batch (HT3B) device?

Why dont u try gng 2 another repair centre. Non-HTC. Those repair centres that treat all kinds of electronics. The manufacturer csn b an ass at times. I dont live in India though. But try fr 35K INR
Hmm alright. I'd rather not spend any longer with the phone, it works perfect now, very new (it is a replacement for my previous One which I sent for repair I think five times) Price will keep reducing if I use it for longer. Thanks anyways

I just got my m7 back from a crack screen repair.
As you can see on the picture, it looks absolutely crap.
It looks like they used a screw driver to take it a part and the big chip they broke of over the volume control, (which they try to glue back on) looks like a brick layer could have done a better job.
and seems like the repair guy left his keys, a screwdriver and a few pebbles inside the speaker cause it makes a horrible noise when turn to full volume.
I was just wondering if that is normal practice, and have anybody actually got a decent phone back from repair.
Doesn't any repair shop use the secret htc one repair tool.?
hmm, where did my picture go.?

well horror stories about repair centers are not a new thing. In general they are doing a good job but s*** happens. If they damaged the phone then send it back.

Well... It is definitely not a normal practice. Unfortunately it happens more often then it should. I cannot comment other brands' repair centres but many of my friends have complained about the quality of htc repairs. I personally sent mine in due to the purple tint issue with the camera. It came back with a gap between the volume rocker and the screen. Since then I changed the volume rocker to a brand new one, the gap is still there, the button cannot be placed back properly... I also just realized under the screen there is a small dust that is not too visible but still bothering me. HTC should really look into their repair centres and the quality of works done there...

and a brand new back housing cost like 15$, dont know why they didn't replaced it. Where is that service center? is it an official htc repair center? send it back, this is unacceptable.
Sounds to me like u sent it to a 3rd party repair center. I sent mine to HTC for the purple camera replacement and came back the way I sent it except they reapplied the beats logo lol. Wish they would of replaced the screen since I have 1 dead pixel but I'm not surprised they didn't see it since i don't even see it XD.

Hello Mate. Sorry for bothering you at this point, as this thread was started long ago. Did your display have scratches after the repair ? How did they do a perfect job of not at all damaging the plastic sides during the repair ? May be they replaced the entire housing after the repair, by the fact your point mentioned "they re-applied the Beats Audio logo on it" . Please fell free to answer me. Thanks in advance :good:

Hi mate
I sent it back 3 times.
It took them 3 tries to fix the problems they had made to begin with.
I just got it back yesterday it sounds like the speaker works, but now I have notice that the camera shows a really bad purple tint in low light, which was not there before.
But I just updated to 4.4.3 so i don't know if it's the update or the jackass that repair my phone.!!

Well. I just insisted the service guys to replace the rear housing with a new one. Just give it a shot, If you ever send in yours again for a fourth repair. Mine underwent two bypass and finally works as expected, except a few blemishes here and there. They damaged the top and bottom speaker grills a bit. Pathetic service !
This is maybe a weird question, but... I've been having some microphone problems - people can't hear me, etc. Seems not uncommon for this phone.
In looking at the microphones (front and back), it looks like there is some kind of coating or covering over them - instead of just a black hole into the phone, there's... well, I don't know, something else on top. To the naked eye it almost seems to match the color of the phone, but the hole is super tiny, and the color of the blue/silvery one is not particularly distinct.
Can anyone else see something similar on their X4? I'm trying to see if it's something that is supposed to be there (like part of the waterproofing or something), or if it's pocket gunk and I can try to clear it out. I'd appreciate any confirmation either way...

Yep. Similar issue here. Sometimes on a call the other end just can't hear me. It seems hit or miss but happens every once in a while.
I've RMA the phone even but it just seems like a bug particular to this model.

That's exactly what I'm trying to figure out - I don't want to remove something that's part of the phone, but I don't have another phone to compare it to, to see if it's supposed to be there. I also don't want to RMA the phone only to find out that I had pocket lint packed in the microphone.
I just bought an x4 last Friday, as far as i can tell there does seem to be what appears like some sort of cloth inside that little tiny mic hole. However i am blind in one eye and cant see out ta other. even with the three different magnifying glasses i have at my disposal. and the camera on my wife's g5+ Might I suggest looking closely at an image of the screen glue/gasket available from Ifixit who is officially working with Motorola these days
edit: also i have noticed in the short time i have had with this device, there is definitely a good and bad way of holding it as a headset, while on speaker phone it dont seem to matter, you may want to experiment a bit with how you are using /holding it. .........taken out of context that last bit sound dirty or is it just me?
Great advice on the fixit. I found a video that shows the screen being replaced and they stick a covering over the mic hole (though no comments about what it is), and the ifixit site has a good image of the part with the original cover. Looks like it's a call to moto... Thanks for the help!
