HTC One M7 Viper One 6.2.1 MediaServer Drain - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey All,
I'm having the ominous MediaServer battery drain, however mine began appearing the moment I installed this ROM. I wiped everything and installed the ROM just like you're supposed to, and that same night, I began having MediaServer issues. I hadn't installed anything I didn't have on my previous ROM (where I didn't have these issues) and so I'm thinking it's something to do with the ROM itself. A few days later, I updated my venom rom to 6.2.1 but the problems persisted. I don't want to update to 9 because I don't want to wipe my phone again. I have a picture of the directories mediaserver is scanning that I found out using the adb shell but I can't post it since I don't have 10 posts yet. What are my options for removing potentially corrupt directories that are part of the OS?
I downloaded Root Explorer and tried to find dev/null - however I didn't find a folder or file named "null" in the dev folder, however I am a beginner so I don't really understand what it meant for mediaserver to be scanning /dev/null.
If I can have some help from you experienced guys, it would be awesome - I've looked around but I've only seen people reccommend others delete corrupt files, and mine seems to be a system problem. All other fixes I've seen like mediaserver killer and Rescan Media Root don't work for me.
Thanks!

Deleting Files upgrade roms

Hi, i have a big problem, sorry for my English, I upgraded my HTC Kaiser and this far so good, but when it passes an hour starts the problems the phone crashes I noticed in the programs folder there are more files but folders . I used the rom is staxxtitanium
Not completely following you here: you're saying every hour something happens to your files after the phone crashes. Is that correct?

[Q] FroyoMod internal memory getting full

First of all sorry for my english, i'm not a native english speaker.
I'm a new user, but a frequently anonymous visitor.
I finally decided to apply a custom ROM (FroyoMod 2.6.0) to my Milestone.
The problem is the following:
I have noticed that since i installed this particular ROM my /data directory is getting consumed by something.
I have not installed new apps, im just testing it and by some reason since yesterday i have lost more than 5MB.
For example since i started writing this post i have lost 100K more...
Perhaps is a log file that is consuming my /data directory but i can't seem to find the guilty one.
Has anyone experienced this problem?
Thanks in advanced for your help.
Try using busybox and 'find /data -mmin -5' to discover the files that are changing...
Thanks for the info i found that the files that are getting bigger and bigger are those under /data/logger/AOL_*
I'm a linux user, but i'm not sure if this logs files are important, because one solution that comes to my mind is just to empty those logs, i mean they are just logs after all.
I've decided that i will just clean those logs and for that i created a tiny bash script that cleans those logs, so far seems that i'm not losing to much memory.

[Q] Internal Storage shows incomplete list of folders

When attaching via USB and accessing the Internal Storage via Windows Explorer it takes a long time to display the list of files and folders (minutes) and the "complete" list is a small subset (just 6) of the available folders
However when I use Astro or ES FIle Explorer directly on the One everything looks fine
I'm rooted, S-OFF, SuperCID and running ViperOne 3.5.0 ROM
This has only started happening in the past few days with the most recent thing that I've done to the One is achieving S-OFF using rumrunners.
Can anyone offer any thoughts as to where the problem might be, PC Drivers, ROM, S-OFF etc?
Apologies if this is the wrong forum\thread, I was going to post it in the ViperOne developers thread but It's my first "need help" post and I don't have enough post count!
[EDIT} Just to close this out, the issue seems to have resolved itself. No idea why though, I didn't change anything from when I was experiencing the problem.
Will put it down to "one of those things" and keep an eye on it going forward!

[Q] Play Services FC on high accuracy

Recently a new bug has appeared on 4.4 roms, after updating the google services it gets force close on high accuary (with only gps its working fine). Anybody has an idea how to solve the problem? Other thing is after updating services there's no deep sleep (still mostly on 4.4 roms). Hope we can find solution for these problems! Thanks in Sadvance

Hello my friend. I faced up this annoying problem. the problem solved after i followed these suggestions fromTPD-21(post 414 ) . because i found it complicated to make it on a already Installed rom i made a clean installation and i followed the instructions from the step 3. Works on any kit kat rom for our phone and is permanent solution.
With the last Google Play Services update (8.3), the issue is solved
EDIT
After a few weeks, the problem was back again. I solved it (permanently, I hope) by taking the following steps:
1. Download modified libjavacore.so from here and put it on your external SD
2. Make a nandroid backup (just in case)
3. Open any root file explorer, go to "system/lib" and make a backup copy of the original libjavacore.so
4. Copy the NEW libjavacore.so in "system" (not in "lib" yet) and change permissions in -rw-r-r- (same as the old file)
5. Copy (don't cut/paste!) the NEW libjavacore.so with modified permissions in "system/lib" and overwrite the old one
6. Reboot
7. Delete the modified libjavacore.so still present in system
This worked for me. I'm on CarbonROM 4.4.4 with CWM with the last Play Services update (8.3.01)

Files that can not be erased in the phone

Hello to everyone, i have a problem with my xt1254 64gb.
In the last few days it was getting too warm, the battery drained quickly and it was very slow. I checked and the problem was Google Play Services ...
After making a series of tests I decided to do a hard reset via twrp but here i find the real problem: you can not do a hard reset because you can not delete the folder "/data/data/com.google.android.gms/cache/ftc ". There are two files in this folder, one is Schedule and another without a name, and these two files are just a problem. I could not even reinstall the firmware because when I did it, my phone was constantly restarting and I was having problems with play services, so the only solution that reminded me of my phone was to rename the folder in com.google.android.gms .OLD, this way when the firmware is reinstalled this folder is ignored and the installation proceeds smoothly.
My question is: why did this problem happen to me? Is there an alternative way to permanently delete this folder?
