You ddint try everything if you cant pass through it. Use the XDA search button or check the stickies in the General Forum or in the development check on how to Unbrick x8. Works everytime

similar problem
I have the same problem ! sorry if I am spamming your request, but I think that's better than to make another n00b thread .
so in my case, I installed a wrong ROM (there was two variants), tested softwares like flashtool without any real result. I only need to restore my lovely phone with the default ROM, then I can flash it again, thanks.
edit: didn't read the previous post (was writing). so it should be the same thing for me cause I am really null in those stuff.
Download flash tool and X8 ftf file then search for steps on what to do. Or use pc companion

if u want go back to 2.1 eclair just download the FTF file from my signature down there!
this is one of the way to unbrick the phone
- copy paste the ftf file to flashtool/firmware
- choose flashmode on flashtool
- turn off x8 , plug it with hold back button
- waallaahhh! Done
as I already said, I used flashtool but without the original ROM (I am noob). but now it's working finelly. how ?
after installing flashtool, it was asking for drivers, even if they are already installed. so I installed all the drivers, for all the available phones .
retryting again and again, same problem. drivers are missed.
but I don't know how, it worked in the last attempt, and my phone is flashed with the original ROM.
thanks a lot :good: !

Hey guys,
I have been trying to root my Xperia Z (10.3.1.A.2.67) for the past three hours now with no success..
I followed this guide: www android gs/root-xperia-z-stock-10-3-1-a-0-2442-67-firmware/ and am now stuck at step 3 of the actual rooting (not the preparation). I cannot seem to find how I can flash the custom kernel to my phone using Emma.
I have googled around for a while and found that I can add services to Emma using the tools menu, too bad I don't have one: prntscr com/23psmy
I would love to root my phone or at least get my own kernel thingy back D:

Please tell me how, because I've been trying everything I can think of (compatibility mode, run as admin..) but it keeps giving me the same error "This app can't run on your PC"!
I've been trying for a total of five hours now and it's starting to piss me off... Need to go soon and don't want to walk around with a resetted and unrooted phone all day tomorrow :\

Yup, and I've never even had this error before: http://prntscr.com/23qkdm
You downloaded Flashtools from here, right?
http://www.flashtool.net/download.php
One thing to consider is that Emma Flashtool is NOT Flashtools.
You CANNOT flash custom kernels from Emma.

I have, and it does NOT work, tried every windows version in there, not a single one worked. Tried restarting, safe mode, compatibility mode, admin mode and restarting again. It's been way too long now and I'm just giving up. This went so much easier with my S3...
I'll try again tomorrow if I feel like it but if I have to go through all this freaking trouble I don't think it'll be worth it..
Can anyone please help my with this? Because I don't want to have a reset phone that hasn't even been rooted..
Download it again and check the MD5 of the file you downloaded. As a quick check, the file should be around 112MB.
Something is definitely wrong, as there are many people using Flashtool on Windows 8 without issues and it is definitely not a 16 bit application (32 and 64 bit executables are installed).

Alright I got it to work now. However, I get the following error when trying to flash another kernel:
13/016/2013 21:16:11 - INFO - Please unplug and start your phone
13/016/2013 21:16:11 - INFO - For flashtool, Unknown Sources and Debugging must be checked in phone settings

I enabled debugging and unknown sources and held my flash button (volume down) while plugging in my phone again. (Also tried volume up) Neither one worked.
The only thing that changed is that my wifi won't enable anymore.

Can't see any errors. Looks like a clean kernel flash.
What's exactly the error? You lacking wifi? Are you using a custom kernel like DooMLord's?
For wifi to work on Doom's kernel you have to flash the kernel.zip from recovery.

I also don't see any errors. Don't worry about wifi not working. You should only be running with the old kernel long enough to root, so it doesn't matter.
Root using DooMLoRD's script, flash your original kernel back and you're done.

Have you actually tried to root? I never even checked in About phone after flashing the kernel. I just booted the phone and rooted it.

Hello
Does anyone have a tutorial or a link which explains how to root the xperia Z 10.3.1.A.2.74? I've searched the whole Xperia Z forum and I couldn't find clear results. I know there's a tool but that one is for 10.3.1.A.0.244/2.67.

Pretty sure its the same process as for the 67 firmware. Check out the instructions on one of the custom roms thats 74 based (eg existenz) the first section of the directions (aka flash base firmware, flash known working rootable kernel, root, then flash back the kernel from the first firmware or the one provided by the rom developer is essentially just directions to root your phone and install recovery prior to actually installing their rom.
I tried that but i keep getting installing failed when i want to install the drivers for xperia z using the flashtool

Just to check - you extract flashtool to c:/flashtool. Then install the adb drivers from c:/flashtool/drivers, then choose the model phone from the list, you can install drivers for as many phones as you want there. Make sure you have admin priveleges in windows, or right click-run as admin. Also make sure your windows system folder isnt set to read only. If you are using windows 8 check out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2095087 or similar threads, the drivers may either not install, or seem to but wont see your phone.

Hi my name is John.
I had a account here before but it seems my account has been deleted.
when i had that account i had allot of info on how to install mods and such.
Now i have a new mobile Xperia V
I am wondering if some know where i can get a tutorial on how to flash my mobile and get mods in it.
I do not want to make my own mod just so u know so im wondering if there is a tutorial on it and if some knows a nice transparent look or something.
I really would like to get the bottom bar with transparent look and with pulsating lights on the icons like the back home and shortcut icons.
I hope some can tip me on some tutorials atleast but it would be even greater if some can say good UI styles to. I would be so thankful if some can help me. i really don't like the neutral look and lac of options in the stock versions..
- Root your phone
- Install Clockworkmod Recovery
- Install Xposed Installer
- Install Gravitybox and get more UI options you ever thought about
That will also help you to learn more about your device first. Afterwards you can still take your time and look around for some other mods that can be flashed or otherwise installed permanent.
Thanks.

I've searched the forum now on how to install clockworkmod and ive found 0 results on how to do it !
I've tested to trigger volume button to get in so i can install a rom but i cant get there it just shows a purple light for 3 sec and then continues to boot up !
So there's none here can help me ?
connect your phone to PC
enable USB debugging on the phone
unzipp the file attached
click on install.bat and follow the simple instructions
Well you must be using a ROM otherwise you could not root your phone. It is the stock ROM I assume. I hope 4.1.2.

You need a ROM that can be flashed via Recovery in the first place. All ROM developers will tell you in their opening thread about the requirements. Some require flashtool, mostly those that work with unlocked bootloaders. Some require a Recovery, usually those that work with locked bootloaders (these work with unlocked BL, too).

The file u attached is called CWM4XperiaT not CWM4XperiaV
and if you don't believe me that you can root with a FTF file then i can upload it so u can test yourself..
how i did it was used flashmod in flashtool and then sellected the ftf file called LT25i_9.1.A.0.490_Nordic.ftf
after that i flashed a kernel with Fastboot called LT25_SXV_Stok_Kernel_9.1.A.0.490_Dogsly.ftf
then i just used the tool root device in flashtool and then i got root..
now my problem is that i dont have any recovery like TWRP or CWM
ive done a new question thread asking for help on how to get it..
Install the CWM attached. Wow. Anyway, up to you.

There is a problem with adb&windows 8 on almost any phone, it's not related to our phone.
I don't know a fix.
Someone mention at other post (i can't find it) that there is a utility which we can install kernel etc via our phone and don't need adb..
It is real or not? maybe i can work with it..

Owh, yes of course. You need fastboot to flash my kernel.
Okay, there are 3 options:
1. use dd, it might take you some time to learn it, but it's very useful. Just google for "Linux dd"
2. There are apps that manage the dd process for you, but I don't know if they are for our device.
3. Wait for me to make a flashable zip
Edit: here is an untested flashable .zip: https://www.dropbox.com/s/4qisqdqiwvd3iu3/UltimateKernel.zip

If you want to flash another kernel just replace the boot.img inside the flashable .zip
