Hey all I have a problem that is driving me insane, my wife has a kindle fire hd7 3rd generation and it was getting slow and not running the best so i performed a restore on it. This kindle has not been rooted (until now) or modded in any way save for sideloading google chrome using an apk. After the restore, I attempted to setup the system for her again, the first screen is the select a language screen, I select English (usa) and click continue, it flashes over to the desktop of the kindle and loops right back to pick a language again. I can stop it by quickly pressing apps after I hit continue. I went into setting and selected the language, connected to wifi and registered with my amazon account, done everything you would normally do and when i press the home screen it just loops right back to the language select again. Ive tried 3 recoverys since then, including using the vol - power way and still the same problem. I tried the kindle first aid kit and tried wiping user and data but it did not help. I cant enable fastboot or i would install cm12 on it if nothing else. She doesnt want it modded just working but at this point im lost. Ive followed every guide to enable fastboot so i can flash it with a factory restore rom using the first aid kit but to no avail. Any help is much appreciated, if you can get rid of this language screen that would be the perfect solution.

I purchased a nook color the other day and successfully rooted and used it for a few days. My youtube would not open so I reinstalled, it ran once and then failed to open again so I gave up on that issue. In reading about youtube app I found that you could get the new market app. I could not get it to install...and in trying multiple things I accidentally deleted my original market app.
I could not get it back so I whiped my nook color and reflashed autonooter. I got all my apps back but I get a connection error when trying to access the market now. I added my account via youtube which again opened once to allow me to sign in and now fails to open.
So I decided to try to reset it back to the way it was out of the box and start from scratch.
I tried the adb 8x reboot method.....it just reboots the nook as it normally would. No bootloader or install screen.
I tried the button method. It works once or twice then it goes through the entire boot. I did it for a half hour and used counts to verify I was doing the process correctly and no matter what I did I could get it to fail boot once and one the second or third it would always bypass and go through with boot even with my finger on the button.
I also am running windows 7 64bit and I cannot get my computer to see "nook" in the device manager for more than a second and it auto installs as a storage device. I've tried to "uninstall" the different devices and last night I was able to catch the "nook" in time to install usb drivers manually but when I reset the nook today my PC no longer see's it again. I was wondering if there is an easier way to install the adb device.
Thanks
UPDATE: Somehow the ADB way to reflash worked the second time I tried it. I also changed some settings in the development menu to fix the device manager issue. I'll update again if I can use youtube and the market.
I don't know what to tell you about everything else but for ADB I would highly recommend adbWireless... it works great on my NC and I never had to install any drivers.
To reset I used the button and counted slow to 15 after the screen gose off each time it worked for me. Good luck
I rooted my droid 4 a few months ago when I first got it so I could tether. I removed a couple of programs using titanium backup (blockbuster app and some other bloat). Phone worked fine until monday when the touchscreen stopped working. I did a reboot (power + volume down) whereupon it just sat at the M "Dual Core" logo. I tried booting into the recovery menu but selecting "recovery" didn't do anything - it would just hang.
Last night I was able to get it working again by going into the recovery menu and selecting asp fastboot, then using RSDLite to push a stock Droid 4 ROM onto the phone. However, it didn't wipe my old system, and didnt install over it either because all my files were there, and the programs I removed were still gone. So the phone worked for a few hours then the touchscreen stopped working again.
I repeated the process with RSDLite and after a few failed attempts where the phone would hang while booting, I finally got it to boot into the OS again. And this is where I am at now.
I am pretty sure that the problem is related to the OS that is on the phone now and that I need to wipe the phone and start fresh with either a custom ROM or the stock D4 ROM. The problem is that I can't get recovery to do a factory reset. As I mentioned above, recovery just hangs and doesn't do anything. I am reasonably literate when it comes to this stuff but I get really confused because there are so many different ways that people seem to do this stuff (safestrap, bootstrap, CM( etc). I would love to try CM9 but my priority right now is just to have a phone that works. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

select recovery by holding the vol buttons and power on boot just like fastboot. press vol - for recovery. when u see dead droid hit both vol up and vol down and theres the recovery
Thanks, I was finally able to get into recovery. Wiped data and did a factory reset which again got stuck at the logo screen. Went back into fastboot and ran RSDlite again to flash the stock ROM which gets me to the "Welcome to Droid4" screen where it says "touch the android to start" but the touchscreen is unresponsive. Starting to think there is something physically wrong with the phone....
send it to motorola, I've heard their customer support is pretty good. but if you voided your warranty by rooting/flashing other roms, I've heard bricking the phone and sending it in works to get a new one too
The only way I can send it back is through an insurance claim so I am trying to save myself $75j if this thing will just work. I just did a reboot and now the touchscreen seems to be working so I am going through the setup process....so weird.
Update: I was able to get the phone to load up and configured my google account etc. It appears that the phone is now running on completely stock installation of OS.....

So it has been a couple days now and the phone works totally fine. It looks like the problem was that by removing whatever bloatware that I did, the phone's OS got borked when VZW pushed an update of some kind. Flashing the stock ROM without doing a factory wipe would temporarily solve the problem but eventually the update would get pushed again and the whole thing would lock up again. The factory wipe + reinstall seems to have been the solution to the problem.
desperately in need of help, rooted my kfhd 7 and got everything working perfectly, but installed "hide app-hide" and accidentally hid the wrong apps and now my kindle boots up fine, lock screen ok, but once i unlock the lock screen all i got is a black screen with just the home, search, favorites icons at bottom showing, and cant get anything else up or showing, and the only button the works if the star (favorites)
is there anyway to rectify this and get the hide app-hide of my kindle via pc ???

Is this your app?
If you have ADB enabled on your Kindle, then yes, there may be a way. Open a command prompt/terminal/whatever, start the ADB server, and enter this command:
Code:
adb uninstall com.thinkyeah.apphider
Then reboot the Kindle and (hopefully) everything will be normal.
Okay, this actually doesn't work. I tried this using my emulator after hiding a couple of apps. So don't try this! But just out of curiosity, what exactly did you do?
i installed the "hide app-hide" i gave root permission with supersu and pretty much hid everything, thinking i was just hiding the app icon and not the app,
so all loaders, and all the kindle stuff
so now it boots up ok, kindle lock screen is fine, but when i unlock the unit i just get a black screen with the home, back, search and favorites button on the bottom...... :/
after approx 10 mins it reboots itself
P.S
if there is a way out of this, i will need complete noob instructions............... as, as you may have already guessed im completely new to this :/
I think easiest method is to just reflash the system partition, as long as the app doesn't run at startup to enforce the apps remain hidden, I don't think you will need to uninstall it first. Look for kindle fire first aid in the general section. It should be able to put your device into fastboot mode for you and reflash the system image.
Sent from my Amazon Kindle Fire HD using xda app-developers app
All done an reflashed to KFHD
thank you for your help, at least i now know what NOT to do

Now that you've got that sorted, I would go here to enable recovery, so that in the future you can create and backup restore points.
ok it looks like it has now bricked, after getting the kdhd 7 re flashed and working as a normal kindle, i used the KFFirst Aide tool to root and install google play/market, everything fine, turned kindle off went and ate, came back and turned it on, now won't boot :/
it goes into the "kindle fire system recovery" but will not reset to defaults it starts to but then reebots and same thing happens
. My problem is that my droid is stuck in boot-loop and everything that I've researched or tried hasn't helped. I have version 5.7.906 and I cannot access my boot menu by holding Power + M. I rooted it and was deleting bloatware and accidentally deleted whatever it is that allowed me to view my text messages and my contact information. So I dealt with it for awhile with apps from the play store and after awhile i wanted to fix it and through a little research I decided that I would try to re-install the original ROM, but I couldn't do his because my computer stopped picking my phone and kept coming up with error messages for the drivers saying something about a missing solana driver. So where I am at now is the phone is stuck in boot loop, I cannot access the boot menu, and my computer doesn't pickup my phone at all. If there is anything you could do to help me or even point me in the right direction? Thank You.

Hold volume button BEFORE pressing power, then you should go to AP fastboot
If your computer doesn't recognize it, go to Device manager and find a device with a yellow"!" right click and update drivers.
My Tab S2 T719Y has started acting really weird recently. For some reason, it would stall trying to run any ROM that I flash to it.
I'm not certain if it's a LineageOS problem or something is dead in the tablet.
I can flash (the few available still maintained) ROMs offered on the forums for my specific model.
The flash would go fine and everything seems to boot fine. I can install GApps and all. Not a single error mesage.
Then it gets to the new device setup wizard and then it stalls with a black screen. Or in the case of having GApps installed, I can choose a language and press Start at the start of the setup wizard, but I end up in a "Just a min.." bootloop and the tablet is unable to do anything except go back to the language select startup page.
The tablet seems to be running fine beneath. The touch buttons light up and haptic feedback still works. By double tapping the Back button I can get the system UI to show that it's switching between apps, but leads to another blank screen. By pulling down from the top, I can even pull open the notifications bar and quick settings. And I'm able to switch them on an off fine.
I've even tried flashing old ROMs that I know for a fact would run fine, but those end up in the same dead screen.
I've tried wiping and formatting everything in the tablet: Dalvik, System, Data, Storage, Cache ... all to no avail.
What is going on here? I'm reading in some Reddit threads that there might be some data access problem?
How do I resolve this?
Restore the stock ROM using odin and 4-file firmware and check again. If it is OK, go ahead
Thank you! That miraculously revived the tablet back from the dead.

Where can I find 4-file firmware.? I tried using Odin to go back to stock 7.0, but the tablet after reboot stops at the Samsung logo. Tried flashing several times and same thing. Help!
