Pumpkin 7" no dvd no button - how to root - Android Auto General

I have bought that model "pumpkin-universal-7-inch-flat-panel-1024-600-no-dvd"
There is no button on it, just a reset button. And in factory settings code 518 is working but it is just opening a screen to change gps-radio - audio settings. And it is just numeric keyboard not able to use letters for codes like *#hct#root#
I want to root it, the equalizer and music player sucks. And there is always EQ error on start up.

I have the same issue, no way of getting the HU into recovery mode... Tried powering off, holding the reset pin in, releasing, but all it does is reboot to the normal start up routine.

OK, found out how to get into recovery mode:
There are 3 "holes" in the front of the panel.
Top is MIC,
Middle is very small and has a microswitch set behind it,
Bottom is Reset.
1. Press Reset and the unit beeps.
2. Allow the "Welcome" screen to appear.
3. Press the middle switch 4 times in succession
4. Allow the next logo screen to appear
5. Press and hold the middle button until you get a long beep
Unit is now in recovery mode and will scroll through start up.

Thanks for the tip. However it won't help me now as I have soft bricked the unit!
Also, I'm not rooted. Thank you anyway, I wish I had seen that earlier!

Anyone help me out of the brick situation?
I bought a USB keyboard to try the ALT-PRTSCN trick, so how does that work? To sum up:
Applied the latest ROM from Malaysk, when the unit rebooted it got stuck at the bootloader screen.
Cannot now enter the recovery mode that was working fine before the Malaysk ROM was applied.
I have the base ROM to put back on it, but cannot get the unit into recovery.
Ideas anyone, or do I throw it in the bin and buy another?

I have a similiar problem trying to update de firmware when the unit reboot, the display in black and i cant go in to the recovery mode, my radio is a 9" RK3188 quad core witohut phisical buttoms, without dvd, and withour hole to the sd card, only have a hole of the mic and other the reset. Some people know how go in to de bootloader mode? I turn on the radio and only the leds of the tactil buttoms power on..... Is it died?

Will be very interested in any resolution for this.

i tried that its not working, i cant get into bootloader, i have two tilts one that works fine and this one, i can get into bootload on mine but the problem one doesnt get into it, it just shows the att screen and starts up. The hard reset by pressing the soft keys and soft reset doesnt work either
You bought a faulty unit and the buttons are dead?
not knowing, you accidently bought a stolen unit and it is well secured by the former owner? (not just MS)
Hmmmm you cant hard reset? Either your buttons arent working, your phone has a bad block, or you are not performing the hard reset correctly. Hard reset is a base operation of the phone controlled by SPL if im not mistaken. Hey guys... is it also possible his NAND could be corrupt?
Also, just in case, to perform a hard reset, the correct buttons to hold in are these ( Highlighted by a red dot on each ):

Make sure to hold them in tightly as you soft reset
yeap ive been doing that it just starts up normally, its weird, i found a few weird things.
When starting up if you plug in the usb cable it will freeze at the att screen.
when i get into the home screen 15 reminders go off and the annoying att song plays over and over but i can get glimpses of the old owners stuff and then goes to the sim lock screen. If i plug in the usb at this time everything will freeze but itll still play the att song and vibrate and it then shut off after 10 seconds.

BEST WAY to do a hard reset on Tilt

Well guys i've had my phone totally messed up because i installed the HTC home plug and somehow it messed my phone up and i could not goto clear storage and for some reason could not get the prompt for the hard reset to come up. I searched google and here of couse and didn't find much except for soft keys and the soft reset button. Still could not get the prompt. So hopefully this can help anyone who cannot get the hard reset prompt. I searched to see if there was another thread about how to do this but i couldn't find anything so sorry if this is already posted but heres the steps that worked wonders for me!
1. go into bootloader mode by pressing and holding the camera button with the power button. then use the soft reset button.
(hopefully you come to the tri color screen.
2. When your at this screen.. press and hold then 2 soft keys and while holding those 2 .. use your stylus for the soft reset button.. and hold until the prompt to hard reset comes up
If you have done this correctly you should get the prompt to hard reset follow the steps on screen and you finally got the reset done!
I got this to work many times on the FIRST time so I didn't have to mess with keep trying. I kept trying before I found this and never got the prompt so this helped me alot!!
I'd hate to break your bubble but this has already been covered numerous times in the wiki and all over the kaiser section.
Nice try though
For the 100th time.......

MAKE SURE YOU ARE USING THESE BUTTONS and the soft reset button AT THE SAME TIME.
Unless you broke your keyboard, this WILL work. Please note that this is in the Wiki ALL OVER the place!
ok i know it's the left soft key and right soft key but the thing was i trying to get at was: it worked the first time for me when i was in BOOTLOAD mode. i tried hard reseting just on the today screen and i could not get it to work. i went into bootload and tried the reset and it popped right up. like i said it might have been covered. but i could not find where it said do the right soft and left soft while in bootload mode.

Boot loader is NOT necessary. Hold the two buttons, and only those two buttons, and hit the reset button with the stylus. Done.

I bricked my phone

Ok, I don't know what I did, but my tilt isn't working. I can do a soft reset and everything boots up normally, but when I try to use the touch screen or the key pad, NOTHING HAPPENS.
I flashed the bengalih raw rom 2.0 and everything was cool. I started installing cabs onto my phone and that's when it happened.
I tried doing a hard reset - softkeys + reset with stylus, but all it does is soft reset and back to the same problem.
I can't get active sync to recognize it either. I searched for this problem, but couldn't find or didn't see this particular problem.
HELP!!!!
Oh yeah, I can't power it down except by pulling the battery.

I push soft reset, then immediately push and hold the soft keys. I release the stylus and hold the soft keys until the d*@% thing boots up to the today screen, and that's where it stays, and stays and stays. The only thing that will do anything is a soft reset or pulling the battery.

Well............
I did that about 6 different times, just like you said and the same thing. I even had my son push the soft reset while I held the soft keys just to make sure I was pushing and holding the soft reset.
Someone please help before my tilt brick becomes inbedded into my brick wall.

Something about the power/camera buttons?
dude seriously..
To HARD reset, press and hold BOTH softkeys on the front of the phone [ the buttons next to the hangup and answer buttons that are labeled with a - ]. then KEEP holding those buttons, take the stylist and press and hold it into the reset hole. Keep holding everything until a WHITE screen appears, follow the instructions on the WHITE screen. which should ask you to press the send key [ that is the GREEN call button on the front of the phone ]
.
Are you pressing the correct softkeys??

Serioulsy now... sometimes hard reset doesn't work right away. What I do is:
1. Softreset
2. while the phone is just about to start the boot sequence, I press both softkeys and reset it again... you will see the softkeys flash and a white screen will appear asking if you are sure blah blah blah... just press left green key and when it finishes nuking your ram content, press green again.
Voila.
Tony
Success!
OK, it finally hard reset, but - I'm not sure what I did to finally get it to do it.
First thing this morning, I pulled out the SIM and memory cards. I did a hard reset (which was really a soft reset due to the way my phone was acting), same old thing, booted up but gave me a NETframe error saying the application needed info off of the memory card to install. Tried hard reset again, same thing.
Next, I installed my memory card, but not my sim card (while phone was powered up if that makes any difference) and did another hard reset.
THIS time it did a hard reset.
I don't know if this was the fix, or maybe I was pressing the soft keys too hard, man I don't know, but my phone works now and I'm taking the cab installs really slow this time, I don't know what cab screwed up my phone, or maybe cabs, can they conflict with each other, but I'll be a lot more careful this time.
Thanks a million to all who replied. You guys are the best!
Maybe I can actually get a good night's sleep tonight

[Q] Water damage + broken screen Nexus 6

Hi everyone.
I hope that you are enjoying using your phone
Recently, 1st the water have reached my phone. Fortunately, the phone is still working perfectly. After maybe 2 hours of the water accident it start pressing "power button" automatically and then restarting several times. It run out of battery then I've tried to turn it on using "Power button" it was not working. Any way, somehow it turned ON !!. Therefore, I've installed an app to use volume up instead of the power button.
However, 2nd thing it fall down and I got the screen broken, the phone still working but after that, it run out of battery and it has never back live again. nothing appears if I click volume up or down not even the battery logo.
What I notice is that, for the first time I've seen the green led lamp notification in my Nexus 6. Find attached a picture.

First of all, the worst thing you can do after water damage, is to turn the phone on. I strongly suggest turning it off, and taking it to a repair center immediately. It needs to be placed in a dehydration oven and then inspected and cleaned by a tech. Water damage is serious and the effects can continue to arise after the initial penetration. Circuits can continue to short out and corrosion will form unless properly cleaned.
---------- Post added at 06:25 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:23 PM ----------
Most likely, however, after rereading your post, the phone is already fried and you would need a new motherboard or complete replacement.

Best thing to do with water damage is to turn off the phone ASAP and let the phone dry in a bowl of uncooked rice for about 2 days.

1. Get a computer
2. Download (search for) modified odin 3b
3. Download (search for) samfirm download tool (install required packages)
4. Download your firmware using samfirm. (Search how to use)
5. Unzip firmware folder after download completes
5. Make sure phone is off. If it isn't, let it die, since the screen doesn't work. Then, plug your phone into your computer WHILE holding volume down+power button
6. Open up odin3b, your phone should show up in the top bar as a blue bar saying "com(#)" where # is a number.
7. Load files you downloaded and unzipped from samfirm. Be SURE TO USE THE CSC FILE AMD NOT THE HOME_CSC FILE!!!!!!! HOME_CSC WILL ¢€¥NOT¥€¢ WIPE DATA!!!!
8. hit start and wait for the process to finish.
You will need to search around for how to do steps 2,3, and 4 of you are completely unfamiliar with those tools. There are already TONS of people who have asked," how do I use this". If you already know how then even better. I would highly suggest not just making a post asking how to use them. The info is already out there waiting to be read.
Another option, if you can still use the plug on the bottom of the phone is to try screen mirroring with DeX dock. If you have one.
With the DeX dock you can plug a mouse and keyboard into the dock. And perform reset there.

i forgot about this. Yes, try holding power button+vol down for 30 seconds. after that, see if you can enter download mode by holding power button+vol down again, but this time insert your usb-c cable into your computer directly after you hold the buttons. you should be in donwload mode, and if you are, Odin will show a blue bar at the top with COM#, where # is an arbitrary number.
