I may be wrong, but I heard that the Z5 supports H265/HEVC 4K recording, also with the Snapdragon 810. Is this the case with the Z3+? I'm thinking of buying the Z3+ (to upgrade from my Z1) and this might be the main selling point for me.
If yes, how is the quality and filesize with H265?
If not, is there a way to mod the software to get H265?
Thanks in advance!
yes, h.265 is supported on z3+ 4K recording.
great quality, but sometimes it takes time to focus.
Thanks. In the mean time I realized rooting the Z3+ is a real pain, so I'm thinking of settling for the Z3 for a while... Not sure yet.

I speaking based on experience. If you own a STE Xperia phone and flashed Xperia Go's FW, your screen is dead, permanently. There's no way to fix it, even when you flash your device's stock ROM. I'm not saying it will brick your Xperia Z, but I just trying to caution you. Though I quietly confident nothing will happen.

It can. Some update flashes a new NFC firmware. Flashing the wrong NFC FW can permanently brick the chip.

Tried to flash ZL kernel and system. No use. Blank screen at boot.
Even after flash ZL 423 kernel. Flashtool recognize my device a 1.307. Probably because of signature, flashing might failure.
Returned to 1.307
Need to solve drivers.
Ps: Locked bootloader.

Is there anyway to hide non used apps?
Will there be a option in a future update to move apps to sd?
Thanks

Root, then remove bloatware.
Use app2sd or similar app from the play store to move apps to sd card. Root is needed

Root won't break camera but will void your warranty! If your'e a first time android user, I suggest you don't root as any **** ups might result in you just having an expensive brick.. Get used to android for a few months before you do any of this stuff.. Unlocking bootloader will cause the camera to break but in your case you don't need to do that.

root will NOT void your warrenty because you can always unroot and leave no trace that the phone was ever rooted.
So you don't have to unlock the bootloader. To be able to root?.

Nope. I think all you need is an application called "VRoot" works for the Z1 as well. As the program is in Chinese, there's a thread about how to use it here. It's also got the download links and stuff

Just so you know most bloated system apps can be disabled from your settings/apps/all without rooting and this removes the icon, and plus side you can always re-enable if you ever need it afterwards

you first need to enable developer mode by setting>about phone>press 10 times on model number. You will then have developer mode enabled, go back and go to developer options and enable usb debugging from there

Yes, dualrecovery you have to have to install 4.4 from .zip file then stripped from Flashtool. It's an easy installation and you will forget even to have it but is really important because you will do a full backup of your System and if something go wrong you can restore it.

I'm not sure, I don't know what the differences in kernel, but I don't think they have a lot of differences and probably it should work

Great!
krabappel2548, great work men! :good:
Very nice
Do you also know if the bootloader is still intact?
I ask this because the algorithms for noise reduction, Mira Cast and better pictures in lower light are protected by DRM and the process of unlocking the bootloader removes it from the software.
So basicly if the bootloader was unlocked we should also loose the named algorithms .
And you could loose waranty if you have to bring it back to the store for problems.
Of course not for Root/Custom ROM issues: That is still the responsibiliy of every user
Edit: Did you know that you could earn money? They reward people who can root the Xperia Z3. For details see http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/general/bounty-root-unlocking-bootloader-method-t2940539

I have installed the kernel and TWRP works fine.
The kernel seems to be the same as stock. The only difference I have found is that /system is rw from boot. If I
Code:
mount -o ro,remount /system
it becomes read only as expected. After this it is not possible to mount rw again (Operation not permitted) which is the same as stock.

hack without root
Hey krabappel can an app be hacked without having root..?
I ask this because lucky patcher manage to hack an app and I have no root and locked bootloader.
First thanks for your hard work. Now I have some questions.
Is the kernel for wifi version 16/32gb?
How to open the bootloader without loosing the specific sony bravia and drm files. To backup them would be nice.
Thanks a lot for your time and work

I am not sure about Sony proprietary stuff since I have not really used any of that. To me the tablet seems to work just fine after unlocking the bootloader.
Updates for the Sony applications like "Movies" are not working for me and it is probably caused by the unlocking. Waiting for CM12 so I can get rid of the Sony stuff...

If you aren't on stock kernel OTA updates will fail to verify. When you flash back stock kernel from an FTF with Flashtool it should work I think. Don't update through pc though. Use ftf files for safe updates, since pc companion might have a risk of bricking the device
