When the JBL Legend CP100 it looked pretty great, but it seems like the release keeps getting pushed back. Did anyone pre-order?
I've got one on order, they say July 8th for mine now. Sucks to have to wait so long... hopefully it will be worth it!
When did you order it? I never actually ordered one, but have been looking at them online for some time. Seems to keep getting pushed back.

I started watching the pre-order listing since February, the number of time the dates have pushed back is ridiculous. Either people are receiving it on those dates and the next batches are the later dates that are being updated, or JBL is having issues. I think it's the latter as I have not seen one video/picture of this device from a user and it just seems too good to be true honestly. I had so much hope for this, was making the space for it on my vehicle, but it hasn't released in the US or given an actual date since February, let alone wait for it here in the UK.
JBL has let me down, why bring a release date to consumers, if you can't meet the date.

August 8th now, I think XDA need to look into this once majestical, cheap and epic Android Auto device.
I feel like this will never get released.

Probably the issues delaying the release are in the still malfunctioning Apple Carplay with the latest iPhones...
Crutchfield has this update on their review section:
Crutchfield first offered this item for pre-order in January of 2016 and we regret that we are still awaiting our first shipment. There have been delays getting the necessary certification from Apple for the CarPlay feature. As soon as we have firm shipping information, we will post an official Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) for this radio. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Yeah, even with that, the fact that they didn't update their customers who have pre-ordered with this information is just very poor. Either exclude Apple's certification and say we f'd up, here's Android Auto only for $25-50 less, for now. People would buy it in large numbers even without CarPlay. Until Apple gives a **** about us(JBL), not just their pocket, you'll have to wait for CarPlay.
Why can't companies behave like this, rather than bending over to these behemoth corporations. JBL should worry more about their reputation with their consumers than their relationship with Apple and so on.
Yup, I would have bought it if it was Android Auto only. Seems like they could just update the software later to include Apple Car Play.

The CP100 page has actually been pulled down on the Crutchfield site. I spoke with a rep over there today and he said they won't be getting any until January 2017. I'm not in any huge rush to replace my headunit, so I'll probably wait it out.

pushed back a full year is suspect, makes me think I was right when I said it is never coming out
I have one of these. It was in my 2017 Jayco Alante that I just took deliver of today. Not sure if it's a dealer issue or a software issue, but Android Auto doesn't work, and Bluetooth will only pair up for Phone, not Media. Trying to reach JBL for assistance.
Not sure there's a big need for a deck like this when Android Auto app gets updated to operate in standalone mode.

For me, my HU is massively outdated (2005 Mazda, no BT, no Aux) and under-powered. I've thought about using a tablet in its place, but then I have to deal with tethering or getting another data plan. This headunit is nice because it's a large capacitive secreen for < $500 that hopefully does one thing well: mirror the functionality of your phone. There are other units for $650+, but all have features I don't need like built-in Nav and a DVD player.
That said, I just found out that the CP100 doesn't have any crossover functionality and the USB port only charges at 1A. That's two deal breakers for me.
Now the website is stating coming soon. They messed up big time basically, so you may as well start looking for alternatives.
I ordered the unit from our employee website in February. The shipping has been delayed four times, and as of yesterday the order has been canceled and they can't give me an estimated date when the radio will hit the market.
JBL is probably dead, but this Sony one looks similar:
http://www.sony.com/electronics/in-car-receivers-players/xav-ax100
JBL Legend CP100 actually exists!
Reviving an old thread..... JBL Legend CP100 is surprisingly in stock and shipping (from a few places). I ordered a unit from Crutchfield for $279 and installed it this weekend.
This model was delayed forever, I was surprised to see it listed for sale over Thanksgiving holiday. The unit I received has a manufacturing date of Feb 2016. This makes sense with the rumors that it was delayed due to AA or carplay certification.
Anyway, it works great so far (FM, BT, AA). Nice screen with good touch screen and quick response. Pleasntly simple UI. After installing it, I got a notification to update the software, but I can't even find a support page yet on JBL. Software version out of the box is 2.3.3.187.
i wonder how this compares to the Sony
I actually bought this unit from Crutchfield when it initially released! It's my first double-din unit and AA unit. So far, I'm liking it! It's a capacitive touchscreen and it runs without issue! Functionality is limited to phone, music, and navigation (which helps from distractions). The only thing that bothers me is the lack of an EQ on the AA side and the fact that the head unit had to be hooked up to a parking brake to set up AA from my phone.

So who has theories on why this release has been limited to such a few sporadic outlets? I mean the Play Store I get since that is Google but why no other major electronics retailers? I would expect at least Best Buy and Fry's to be selling from the brick&mortar front and Buy.com, New Egg and Amazon from the online. Instead we have a few obscure online shops like B&H and some office supply stores? Game Stop seems to be the only one that kind of fits but even that isn't the first place I would think of when looking for new tablet.
Just a thought as we wait...

Send it out to all retailers, but have retailers hold stock until launch day. Ship preorders 2 days before launch. Done.
Now the only thing that can unravel this is if some retailers don't hold their stock. That's what seems to be happening, not entirely Google's fault.
Google has no control whatsoever over the distribution since the Nexus 7 wasn't manufactured in-house (read: inside the Google premises) nor distributed by them. ASUS is the manufacturer and all Nexus 7 retail units were distributed through their own supply chain.
The Nexus Q, yes... It's a different story.
This is yet another instance where Apple make Google look like a bunch of rank amateurs. Honestly. I pre-ordered mine on June 29th from the Play Store, assuming that might amount to something!
Here's how google could have done this properly:
Announce that the launch date is a specific date. Let's say July 20th, not 2-3 weeks. Vagueness makes people speculate.
Next, Ship it out to UPS distribution centers and retailers and tell retailers to hold until the 20th. Part of the reason retailers are not following instructions is that anxious people keep bugging them and it's wasting warehouse space for an effectively undetermined amount of time, something that retailers also hate. On July 19th, give the go-ahead to UPS and retailers release on the 20th. Everybody is happy, because everything that was promised was delivered.
This shouldn't have been complicated at all. Pre-ordering with UPS and retailers isn't exactly new.
This should be in Q&A.. might get closed =P

I total agree that this would have made the launch smoother and easier for consumers. However, Google has many highly paid marketing and logistic professionals at their disposal. Is it just that they keep dropping the ball on Nexus launches or is this by design to artificially generate additional hype and anticipation? I'm wondering if it's some type of marketing strategy itself.
..still can't it out..

TLDR; Blame ASUS.
Maybe it just took them longer to link the devices to peoples accounts since other than storage size that is the only difference between buying it in retail and getting it from Google Play.
And I'm sure a big list of people cancelling their orders later to get over the limits of Google's horrible store didn't help because they would then have to undo the linking on those devices.

Yeah, quite frankly, I'm also annoyed. In fact, more than a little annoyed. Unless the Play store gives us some sort of reparation for getting screwed over like this, I'm never pre-ordering or buying from Play ever again. I think a free case is fair compensation for all of us who preordered from Play and got screwed over.
In fact, anyone have a link handy for Play's customer support/service email so I can write them a strongly worded letter? Their "Contact Us" page only has their phone number.

So what is your source that states that Google has no say what so ever in the marketing and release of the flagship product that bears there name? Please don't confuse giving your post no credibility with not being able to read.
Maybe you'd prefer the Apple model... people standing in line for a day or 2, running out on release day and no one able to activate their devices? This is Google's first outing for a branded tablet... give 'em a break. Trust me, it'll be worth the wait.
I preordered mine from GameStop and was told July 31 as the release date...extremely surprised to get it last Friday!

This is normal for Asus.
Heck, the Prime has been out for over 6 months, still cant find one in a retail outlet.
Hopefully it's not as bad and they start getting them out.. Wouldn't hold my breath though.
People will probably have to check nowinstock.net for months to track one down.
So I just got done on the phone with Google and was extra pissed this morning. I explained how I preordered the N7 and it came after I went and got one (defective) from Sam's Club. The guy was pretty sympathetic and explained that the N7 wasn't supposed to be sold in retail stores until July 22nd! Apparently one guy made a mistake that let one store (Wouldn't tell me what store) start selling the N7. Other retailers said that if _____ is selling the N7, we should too.
Pretty crazy that this whole mess was because of ONE PERSON.
He also said I was the first person that he'd talked to that has had two defective devices. He went on by saying that out of all the N7s only 1% are defective. Sounds like TOTAL BS.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
im pretty sure he told you that just to get you off the phone...
But i know a few stores like Adorama and Ebuyer started selling the Nexus 7 around 5th or 11th.. then Google supposedly told them to go back to pre-order
Google messed up by not having enough of stock and hiring people off the street to ship these things
http://www.gottabemobile.com/2012/07/12/google-nexus-7-release-date-remains-unclear/
Launch is over, crap happens all the time, not sure why anyone would care at this point.
Maybe some people won't do preorders next time.. Don't see how that is going to hurt anyone including Google. Hot products will always have demand.
Time to move on to current topics... Not rehash the past.
Via my HTC Rezound
I fail to understand how this is a "messed up" launch when Google didn't give an official release date. Also, 8GB preorders through the Play store are being fulfilled just fine.
If anything, the retailers are the ones messing it up.
Stop whining and go do something useful.
Pretty sure the failure rate is well below the 1% (which is what this sorta consumer electronics rate is typically measured against). Google will have surely sold millions of these suckers by now, so there will naturally be plenty of threads of people that have problems, just like there are plenty of threads about any other consumer device.
Just be thankful it's nowhere close to the the 60% failure rate of the Xbox360. The worst consumer product in the history of man....
I'm sure most people blame Gamestop for selling them too soon. I know people who work there and the go-ahead came from Google. If that was the "mistake" then so be it. Holding them all back to the 22nd is just silly though. If the devices were in the store around the 6th then Google should have shipped them then so we could all have them on the 12th.
As far as the defective units, 1-3 percent is the norm and I think that's probably where the Nexus falls. I'd imagine it's closer to 3 because of the screen "washed out" issue that will go unreported by many.
So far I'm aware of
- ghosting which seems to hit only pre-release white units
- dead pixels, often forming a line
- raised screen
- other hardware faults such as speakers not being connected, headphone jack giving distorted sound etc..
Complainers are louder than the satisfied. My first unit from Staples is perfect and the second that I received yesterday from B&H is perfect too. The touch input settings are on both are a little overly sensitive but an OTA update will correct that.

Typically phone support personnel are at the bottom of the corporate ladder and would have no inside knowledge other than their own unsubstantiated speculation.
He was just being a tool....
I work on phones as well, and I don't make up bull****. Reason being: Calls are recorded, so you have to be able to back up what you say, period.
Anyhow, The usual rule of thumb is that people with a happy experience hardly look to go out of their way on a forum to comment how nice it is.. on the other hand.. when something is working terribly, they flock to websites and forums to complain.
Seeing as only a small percentage of us are having issues, and even we're just a small amount of total buyers out there. I'd say everything has gone well enough so far.

I preordered this in January (right after CES) and they were supposed to ship in April. April came and went and imwatch kept pushing the ship dates back and back and without any word of why the delay. I requested a refund and that alone took 15 business days to process. I even called Italy long distance (using google voice) and they STILL didn't do anything correctly. Really bad customer service. I am a pebble backer Waterproof ftw IMO. :highfive:
And I have seen ONE person get their i'm watch. That's very suspect, because if the stated 300 "beta" users were supposed to get their im watches, I haven't heard or seen any youtube vids of any sort.
i just bought the motorola motoactv to sync to my phone after motorola announced a @100 price drop. for $200, its a 16gb smart watch that will read facebook updates, sms, allow you to answer calls (you can sync a bluetooth headset or use a wired headset on the watch itself), has GPS tracking, accelerometer. however, its more of a fitness oriented watch with limited customisability, and most existing apps are fitness related.
the sony mn2 smartwatch is cheaper, but the screen isnt as good as the motorola, and it doesnt have any notable storage options. the sony smartwatch is nothing more than a mere digital watch when its not sync'd to the device, as all the apps are just widgets to read stuff from your android device. the advantage is that its much more customisable than the motorola.
So I pre-order the I’m Watch 11/2011 (over a year ago), and I’m still waiting for it. I opened a trouble call to get an update and got the following answer within 24 hrs.
Dear Customer,
we have started and will proceed with the deliveries in chronological order up until the 15th of September.
Once your order will near the shipping, the tracking number will be available to follow its schedule and have a more precise date.

Now if they would ship my watch that would be even better!!!
Updated Dec 6 1:30AM EST
Below is specific only to the orders from the first day the Nexus 4 was live.
Limbo 1 order fulfillment: ~99%
Limbo 2 order fulfillment: ~99%
Limbo 3 order fulfillment: ~91% (the majority of orders fall into this category)
"fulfillment" = shipped
Above is my educated guess on the status of the shipments that have been going out. I'm constantly tracking this and several other sources for continuing information.
Current status of orders and shipments:
Points below are confirmed:
First major batch shipped Nov 19 (upgraded to Next Day Air).
All orders that took place on the 13th that were back-ordered will be upgraded to Next Day Air for free.
Play Store Customer Service do not have any relevant information about your order. Calling them is nothing short of a complete waste of time.
Orders have not been shipped on a first-come first-serve basis. There is no pattern to the shipments, it is seemingly random. We have indisputable evidence of this.
Addendum to above: It is believed that we are finally going in order. Some of the later orders were shipped first due to an incomplete manifest.
Many people have noticed the last updated date on the Play orders page has changed. No one is certain yet what this might mean.
Points below are likely:
Logistics have been outsourced to UPS.
Order mechanics "slid" during the initial rush of the first few minutes of the product going live. This caused several issues (including an incomplete manifest sent to UPS).
Status of your order (limbos):
1) Order placed. No e-mail of any kind (including order confirmation) received.
2) Order placed. Order confirmation received. No other e-mail of any kind received.
3) Order placed. Order confirmation received. Back-order e-mail received.

Changed "confirmed" to "tentative". 09:00AM PST is most likely, but you should be watching out regardless.
These are some of my favorite threads here! We all heard that the Nexus 4 is now official but I'd wager that a lot of us are waiting for preorders to open up on the Play Store.
Post the usual "I ordered!" "It shipped!" etc. here! I, personally, cannot wait for this guy. Just sold my S3 for it.
I did call Google to ask if they were going to open pre-orders for the device. Doesn't look like it this time around, but I was told that you will be able to purchase on November 13th and that stock would start shipping "either on the 13th or the 17th," whatever that means.
Current information (as of Nov 12):
No one knows what time the purchase will go live.
Best guesses are sometime in the morning of the 13th (office hours), or at 00:00 PST. I'm personally leaning toward the former. (NEW: see below)
There will be no pre-order on the Play Store.
Check here for specific country availability.
Check here for more information on shipping and handling for your country.
A Virtual Credit Card (VCC) cannot be used with your purchase in the device store. Also, at this time, the country of your credit card must match the the country to which you're shipping.
Taxable charges, if any, depend on what state you're ordering from.
We do not know what shipping options will be available. Right now, only 2-day shipping is confirmed. We are hopeful for an overnight option at launch.
News added Nov 10:
Android Police got a little clarification from Google-- the rep said pretty much exactly what we've been assuming for the past couple of weeks. They also agree with me that the button will be more likely to go live in the morning sometime, rather than at midnight. See source here: http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/1...-shipments-start-november-13th-no-pre-orders/
News added Nov 13:
A German Google employee has revealed that the Nexus 4 should be selling at "around breakfast time" in Germany. He also mentioned that would be about 8-9AM. This would lead us to believe that the order form will go live at 0:00PST as originally anticipated. Germany is 9 hours ahead of Pacific Standard Time-- aka, 2AM Central, 3AM EST.[/url]

I'll most definitely be getting one of these. The price is good, it looks good, and I really dig the wireless charging. I've many times where I'd just put my phone on my desk, forgot to connect the charger, and fall asleep just to wake up with a (mostly) depleted battery. Finally a worthy replacement for my ageing Nexus one.

Finally a worthy replacement for my ageing Nexus one.

I wouldn't be surprised if the wireless dock is not available for quite a while.
Here's to hoping they do same day delivery this time around which may explain no pre order date...

Just shipped mine off! I was hoping to be able to mostly cover the N4 with what I got back from it. Turns out that I actually made money in the trade.
Very excited!!

My trusty Atrix 4G.
It served as my go-between phone when I went from Note to S3, too. Got a clean CM10 on it, runs like a charm.
Sorry that you're stuck with a Berry, haha.

It's not too big of a concern. The wireless charging is a more of a luxury than anything. The most important thing is the option is available; the aftermarket solutions either adds thickness or look just plain ugly.

Hi, does anyone know when does the NDA ends? will we see reviews tomorrow/today assuming NDA ends in USA when the pre orders starts?
The only rumored date I know of is November 3rd.

It will be the 3rd because that's when the nexus 9 is released so lollipop still be finalized. Also expect a lot of app updates.
Thanks guys, i hope that's the case, i'm so tired and frustrated of this miserable media coverage, Google are terrible at it.
It has to be because the nexus 9 will ship out and it will likely have an OTA to download upon setup . Google can't keep the NDA effective after the ship date unless they plan on changing the N6's software more than what will be on the N9 which again isn't likely.
Yeah I would really like a still solid review if only to know what the battery life is like before spending 700.00.. Guess I will just have to take a leap of faith and deal with the return process if battery life is not on point. My only other concern is the audio quality, but that extensive of review probably wouldn't come until much later from someone like What-HiFi. Either way, Still can't wait to find out! Happy Nexus Day Peeps!
12th
It's the 12th. You'll see the reviews drop that day. If you watch the Droid-Life episode this week, Kellen strongly hinted that's the date and as he has a review unit in hand I'm going with that

http://www.forbes.com/sites/larrymagid/2014/11/01/hands-on-with-googles-nexus-6/ made it clear-Nov 12:
My Nexus 6 review unit arrived yesterday and after a day of testing, I can say that it compares well against the iPhone 6 Plus. Google isn’t allowing reviewers to publish full-scale reviews until November 12th, but is permitting “first impressions.”..
