I am new to tasker and I thought I had some slight understanding of it, but I was wrong. I have a Galasy S6 running Marshmallow and I am trying to enable tethering when my phone connects to my cars bluetooth and has to be charging. It keeps failing to enable tether. Can anyone guide me in the right direction to accomplish this?
I came here with this exact same issue. I have it set up to trigger wifi tether when my vehicle headunit is in range, but it's not working automatically. If I manually trigger the profile it works fine though.

I can't even get it to manually work. What does your profile look like?
Well, I've redone it using Secure Settings and since I did it here at work today, I haven't got out to the Jeep to test it yet, but they all trigger manually. Here's screenshots of it. I'm using State - Net - BT Near profile to hopefully trigger, won't know until I get out to the vehicle.

I tried to use your profile and I still can't get it manually to enable I hope both of us can figure out a way for it to work.
I've read that different phones respond to turning the hotspot on differently.
Have you tried the built in wifi tether within tasker and not the Secure Settings hotspot?
Also, are you rooted?

Yeah, I've been trying many different things which is why I posted an updated screenshot. I can't get this to work for the life of me.
I'm going to concede defeat and run it like this. All that's required from me is to switch off my headset before I turn the key. Was hoping for 100% automation, but this works as well.

Now that we've gotten the profiles situated, I was looking into your issue as well since my dad will be needing auto tether on his S6 as well. I've found a few resources regarding it.

Unfortunately I am not rooted so i can't use the second link, which is the best option. The first link seems to defeat the purpose of automation. I guess I need to accept defeat that it is not possible on the S6. :crying: Thanks for trying to help.
Are you willing to root it?
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
No, if I root I will loose samsung pay, which I love. I just wonder what makes the S6 uncapable of having an app switch tethering.
Ahh ok, i understand. I dunno man, from my research all phones are different when it comes to tasker.

Only option left is to try NFC tags, ordered them can't wait to try and see how well they work.
NFC works a treat, I've used it in the past.

Not the OP, but I get up a couple of hours before I have to work, so theoretically that's all I need.
Is there such an app that can run on the Galaxy Gear then?
So much like the fitbit bands and the new Gear 2 range it will monitor your sleep??

Yes and no. The Gear 2 sleep monitorig is very poor and only limited to 'no movement detection'. So if you havea bad night and cannot sleep, but just keep your eyes opened it will just tell you that you had no movement for 100% of the nigt.
Not reallly a monitoring system that should be linked to heart beat and other valuable information.
True but given that a FitBit or other fitness band would also not be able to tell if you have your eyes open or not, its never going to be the most reliable way of recording sleep anyway!
With regards to the Galaxy Gear then... you're saying that there is an app to use on the watch itself?
Sleep as Android
I used ADB to install Sleep as Android. I bought this app a few years back, and I've loved it ever since.
Used it on all my android phones
-HTC Aria
-Motorola Atrix
-Samsung Galaxy
-Samsung Galaxy Note
-Samsung Galaxy S4
I just got a Galaxy Gear 1st Gen, and figured it was worth a shot. It installed and ran without issue here at the office. When I get home in 3 hours, I'll do a quick charge of my Galaxy Gear (I love how fast this thing charges) and then I'll go to sleep and see how the battery holds up and how the tracking does.

well... that didnt work out as well as I hoped. I came home, curled up in bed. Set the app, the screen dimmed off, and I went to sleep. I woke up around 2pm, and went to check the app and its nowhere to be found under apps. I checked in the background apps, its running, but when I tap on it, it doesnt launch. I rebooted the watch, the app is missing from the apps section. Im going to install nova launcher and try again later
Graph Indeed Saved
So I got into the office tonight, and sideloaded NOVA Launcher, and found the "missing" sleep as android app
looks like it did properly exit and grab my sleep graph. Today when I get home I'll try setting Nova Launcher as my default (this scares me, as I'm worried about it interfering with watch functionality) as see if it works a bit smoother, than it did yesterday.

From the official demo video, the app seems to detect patterns as if it was the phone lying on your bed. having the app on your hand would (i think) give the accelerometer much different results. Does your method seem work well? I'm really interested in getting this watch if this works!
Having a bit of a problem using familywhere on t mobile. I'm able to locate myself and anyone else in my family using a galaxy s6, an idol 3, and a nexus 6 that a bought this summer. But i'm unable to locate anyone using a nexus 6 a bought last week and a nexus 6 that I bought last month. I've checked and double checked the settings, have the t mobile build of 6.0. everything seems the same as the older nexus 6 (same build mra58x, same settings) but I still cant find a way to get the 2 newer phones located. I have also switched out sims from other family members who are part of the account and its unable to locate any of the on the newer nexus 6, but work fine on my other phones including that older nexus 6. Anyone have any ideas or tips?
Has anyone else experienced a similar issue on t mobile? Perhaps its not the device but the service itself. Still difficult to understand because I've even been able to track a moto e 2015 Verizon phone that has been unlocked.
i enabled the tmo settings for it online and it tracked my n6 no problem. it was so annoying though, so i disabled it again.

yes. but i dont think that would do anything for it, as all nexus 6 are running the same software, and i dont run any of the specific tmobile builds(im always modding my phone).
Ok so after messing around with settings I was able to get the phone to be located by going into the cell networks settings menu and switching off 'Enhanced 4G LTE Mode'. Not sure if this means I wont get hd voice or volte though. That older nexus 6 that has always worked in familywhere has enhanced 4g enabled, and everything works fine. Maybe its some bug?
odd. mines on, volte and everything is working. bug, maybe. or a bug on their end?
Found a quick fix/workaround:
Nova Launcher>Create Activity>Phone-99>Mobile Data>Enable Advanced Calls-VOLTE
Toggle off and on. Volte will now be enabled.

That is really crazy, I wonder how many phones are really like this and people just don't realize it. I wonder if a future update will bring back the option in the menu, not sure why they would remove it on purpose.
Mine didn't ask. It's set up for wifi calling. In fact, there's a icon in the notification bar I'd like to get rid of.

Nova Launcher>Press and Hold Screen>Select Widgets>Under Nova Launcher Widgets Select Activities and drag the icon to the home screen. A list of Activities pops up. Scroll down to Phone [there's 3 options for phone. Pick the one will 99 in the right corner.] Scroll down and select Mobile Data.
Hey so I just recently received 3T, which is on OOS 3.5.4.
Can anyone tell me the problems 3T has like hardware type related and software too? I would like to test out the unit. I haven't experienced any issues on microphone or calling so that seems to be good so far.
How do I test the automatic shutdown that some 3T devices were experiencing? It won't operate at 2.35 GHZ freq. so it shuts down.
Please guys try to be appropriate and honest.
Also, i get 4G symbol, but i wish it would display LTE. How can I get the LTE to show instead of 4G
Benchmark apps like AnTuTu will ramp up the frequency of your CPU to test it's stability.
If you really want to have the cell signal indicator to display LTE, you're going to have to install Xposed and find a module to change it (or install a different ROM). Keep in mind that you can't use Xposed on Nougat (OOS 4 and above).
My 3T seems to frequently disconnect from my wifi at home on both 2.4 and 5GHz channels, but it didn't happen when I use wifi at school. None of my other devices seem to share this problem at home, so I'm not sure if it's phone or access point related.
It should test around 160 to 164K with Atuntu even though OPO cheated by a couple hundred to a thousand. You should be GOLDEN but still upwards of 160K. New LTE iconwill show up when you update to Nougat.

Oops i didn't read your post properly. Never mind it.
Thank you guys!
I haven't faced any Wifi disconnection at home, or at my University. So, it could be hardware defect? I will continue to monitor this. Last night while I was outside at a bus station and called my mom, she heard weird noises while talking to me like static and some wind-ish type, even though my speech was very clear. I don't know what to make of this because I never had this issue on Pixel XL and Galaxy devices (S4 and S6). The one thing i like so far is that wifi didn't disconnect like it used to in Pixel XL randomly at my university :S.
I will do the Antutu benchmarking and see how that goes! Hopefully i don't get the automatic shutdown lol.
Thank you everyone! If you guys had any call quality issue like I did, could it be software or hardware defect?
So my oneplus didn't shutdown during antutu benchmarking..
If you have problem with mic or speaker do a reset

Like the title says! It just stopped working after months of no issues. I have the T719, and have had no issues using T-Mobile LTE for everything, including getting apps from Play. But now it sits there for a long time and gives error 500 if I am on mobile data. Works fine on wifi. I have used almost 27 GB this month, but I wouldn't think TMO would block Google Play downloads? Any ideas? I've tried every fix I've found on the net: cleared data in all the relevant apps, removed and re-added my Google account, etc etc!!
Just went into the play store to update.

Things do tend to get more locked down over time, but I hope this continues working. They gotta let unlocked phones work, no? Yeah, as far as they know, that's what we have.
I finally downloaded an app over LTE! But it happened in another part of town, away from my home. So if I get home and it doesn't work again, I'll be scratching my head lol. Signal meter indicates similar strength both places.
