Does your battery died at certain percentage without warning? Like 25% or so? ... Well this might help
Do you remember at what percentage your battery dies without warning? okay. add 10% to it . And remember it.
1) First charge your devices NON-STOP overnight (Atleast 6 hours)
2) Now, drain your battery until the percentage that you remember on the question above.
3) Run my script and follow the instructions when you run the script
4) After done, just drain your battery until 0% (when android automatically shutdown your phone)
5) Then, Charge your devices NON-STOP overnight (Atleast 6 hours)
CAUTION : When the battery is charging . Please dont turn on the device or play with the device !
Done. your battery/Fuel gauge is now calibrated. if the battery/Fuel gauge still not calibrated re-run the steps from 1
Remember! this is still WIP . because this needs more testing! . and because there are no documents or anything about battery calibration on our device..
And last. Please DO NOT do battery pull as it might reset the calibration. please remember this while im trying to search the fix to make the calibration stick

Root metod ? Without root? more info?
2nd recommendation,
1. Charge battery to 100% whether you are at any battery level
eg. If you are at 50% then charge it to full, if you're at 1% then charge to full too
2. After it reaches 100% (green led) , unplug the charger
3. Reboot
4. Battery calibrated

nah. it wouldnt worked. the fuel gauge isnt gonna calibrated using that method. and our phones have the baseline for percentage so default it know what percentage is your device at. but some of us have this prob. that the fuel gauge believe that the battery is at ex 25% while its actually 0% resulting the internal battery circuit cutoff and the phone just die. thats why we use this method to "tell" the fuel gauge the 100% and 0% limit.

Hi Guys!!
i've done what this link told
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10092321&postcount=11053
but everytime i reach 100% and unplug the charger, my battery percentage immediately shows 97%, be it charging with the phone off or on....
i already did wipe my battery stats in recovery a few times, the first time only it showed that the stats were wiped, after that every time i wipe the stats, it immediately goes back to the previous menu, without stating whether the wipe was carried out or not....
can someone help this noob out here.... thnx
FYI, i just installed darky's rom v8.0 with Voodoo's kernel 5.2(lagfix disabled)
when i was on stock, my 100% could last me about nearly half an hour
I have this problem too. (I am on Darky 9.02 and have seen it in Darky 8.0 too). BUT if your battery life is satisfactory then don't worry about it.

9.02 is good but then so was 8.00. I personally think 8.00 was faster but its only been a few days and am still experimenting. I may remove the lag fix and still need to see if my battery is draining faster.
Also look at this post: Has some interesting but unverified info about the drop from 100% to 97/98% after unplugging

thanx all for the advices.... tried the QueenAmy method, result is:
heavily used phone: battery 'died' at 2%(???)
charged phone until 100%(phone off)
switched phone on while still charging: 97% (didnt have to unplug charger)
waited...then it went from 97% straight to 100%.(funny)
then went into recovery to wipe bat stats.
rebooted and unplugged charger, battery still at 97%....
now trying to charge a bit more longer to see if can change anything... (fingers crossed)

It's just a change in 2.2.1.
In 2.1/2.2, they 'stretched' out the battery life a bit to mark it up to 100%, in 2.2.1 they decided to just show it at the actual value. The reason your battery won't charge to 100% is to prolong the battery life, because if the charger always charged to 100% it would have a high chance of overcharging and damaging your battery over time.
There's no real change in battery life.
I reverted back to 2.2 and still have the problem. Maybe i shouldve flashed on 100% battery... Is it possible to solve if i do another fresh flash with 100% battery?

Just to clarify this, you actually cant over charge the battery on the SGS nor Li-Ion for that matter, what happens here is that the battery goes on trickle charge pre 2.2.1 and battery degrades faster if its kept at 100%, 40% is optimal for storage now with the recent changes the phone will pretend it has charged upto 100% but will stop anywhere from 99~97% yes there is no loss in battery life but dont consider 97% as the new 100%, theres already a 3% loss in this to begin with.

This is a very well know issue related to battery calibration. Take a look at the many calibration threads to learn about bump charging.
Basically, it takes longer with the phone off (or when you pull and put back the battery while charging) because in some cases android was stopping the charge before a full charge.
Try this
Charge your phone to 100% (inside android)
Turn you phone off
Reboot
Pull the battery before it boots
Wait for the ?
Put the battery back in and notice the %
If it says 60%, then you had 40% of your battery not being charge.
If you leave it in that spot and wait for it to go to 100%, your battery will be better calibrated.

I pay no attention to the battery meter anymore. I've found that it just reads low. It's not that it doesn't get a fully charge, the phone can't read the level correctly. I tried draining the battery once by playing an episode of Top Gear with the screen on full brightness. The phone said the battery was at 5% but the video kept playing for another 1.5 hours.

millivolt. there are other ways to read out this value... I'm using osmonitor, since it's installed anyways
install the battery calibration app (by nema).
let the phone reach 100%, then reboot without unplugging. as soon as it reaches 100% again, immediately hit the calibration button and unplug. do not wait, thinking that you are going to trickle charge. for some reason, the battery will start discharging as soon as it hits 100% even when plugged in. i think it's a hardware issue.
this method has worked well for me. just wanted to share with the rest of you. cheers.

if u prefer to do the simpler way, (assuming u have root) . simply flash clockworkmod recovery and you'll have options for wiping battery stats. and the reason behind 95% after fully charging is because htc's stock battery is simply... cheap. u charge to 100%, and the battery thinks that 100% is too much, thus before reaching 100%, the charge is already cut. so the 100% is just eye candy.. the actual percentage at full charge might be 98 or 97, we dont know..
source : tested this with seidio extended 2500mah battery with seidio's charger and htc stock battery with htc stock charger.
results : seidio battery stays at 100% after full charge while htc stock battery instantly drops to 95% after one minute of full charge

Hi,
I am trying to do the battery calibration piece but my phone never reaches 100% when the phone is off i charged it for almost 3-4 Hrs.

It is normal between 96% and 99%.
Is it normal to not reach 100% when i turn the phone off and charge it?

There has been talk about this occurrence before, but basically it's a battery-life saving feature of Gingerbread. Rather than hold your battery at 100%, which will decrease the battery's life, it charges to 100%, lets it dip down to a certain threshold (like 90%, for example), then recharges again.
That's my understanding, anyway.

Two things regarding Battery Calibration :
1. For Better Battery Life : Always charge upto about 90% and use. Recharge when you reach 10% or even less. This will tremendously increase the life span of Li-Ion battery.
2. As regard to 100% charging :
(i) Boot to CWM, wipe battery stats.
(ii) Reboot and charge until 100%, Disconnect from charger
(ii) Power Off and connect charger again. Charge until 100%
(iii) Boot to CWM, wipe battery stats again.
(iv) Power on the phone and charge until 100%
Done.
Repeat the same, if you wish to re-calibrate the battery after some time.
Tip: Always re-calibrate battery and charge to 100% before flashing any ROM.

As I fiddled around with most of the ROMs out here in XDA, would suggest you to flash a KK4 build like Serenity or Illiminance, if you want a stable GB ROM. KK4 is the latest captivate GB leak and the ROM is awesome. Also, the ad-hoc wi-fi through modifided wpa_supplicant works in this build. The ROM is fast, stable and got good battery life. Try to flash the ROM and I'm sure you will get a great GB ROM without troubles.

I reached the conclusion that all these calibrations techniques are just a myth.
A Google engineer already stated that the wipe battery stats simply does nothing in terms of calibration. It just removes the data that shows in the battery info (chart and usage by app/hardware). Guess what? That same file is the one that gets reset after reaching 100% and unplugging the phone.
Then no calibration technique explains why on many junky Samsung phones after a phone reboot, no matter if the phone is fully charged or not, the battery loses 5-6% of battery. One reboots the phone to reset it and save battery and instead s/he gets a battery drop. I just find this unacceptable. For much less the iPhone has been massacred all over the news.

Really? So why does it happen even if the phone is charging? Why it doesn't always happen? Why few times the percent even raises?? Why do I get up to 10% drops after a long deep sleep? But I don't get the same drops if turned into airplane mode (well, testing it just now)?
And regarding the energy consumed while booting, it is just a matter of having the CPU at 100% with the highest frequency for a couple of minutes. That barely justifies a 5-6% drop. Antutu battery test drops 27% every hour, less than 1% every 2 minutes. I don't see why the boot should consume much much more energy.
Honestly, it doesn't bother me that much. It was like that in stock rom, it's the same in custom roms, so I assume it's androids normal behavior. Phone's working, battery lasts for nearly 2, sometimes 3 days, so I can't complain about it
Well, in that case you're right not to complain. If my phone reaches 30 hours I must consider myself lucky. And that is with a (2430mAh declared, probably 1700mAh for real) Gold battery. But I don't have Mini/Pop I have a Mini/Pop Plus (actually Next Turbo in Italy), the S5570I.
