Kaiser Hinge Problem!!! PLS HELP!! :(

Hi, i recently got my HTC KAISER,
unfortunately, the case that came with it to me is terrible, until now because of it, the phone fell from my hand 2 times until now. i have a feeling that the hinge is a bit loose from the screen. does anyone know how to tighten it back to the screen? from the right hand side there is about 2mm gap, and it makes a sound when i touch the screen since it hits the back.
any help, is appreciated.. esp if they are productive.
Thnx in advance
How can we help fix it if it was dropped? You didn't even provide any pics of it and I highly doubt we can help you. If its damaged its damaged, and your only course of action is to take it back and see if its under warranty and cross your fingers. I wish you the best of luck and hope someone can repair it for you. As far as the case I totally know how flimsy they are.
What does this have to do with XDA development?
Try the ATT wireless forums. This forum is for development.
what a couple of unhelpful posts, have we no mercy? this forum is full of topics that are 100% kaiser but 0% development, why are you picking on the poor guy with the (possibly) broken phone? and why direct him to some AT&T forum when he's already said it's an HTC branded phone? if you're going to kick a man when he's down, at least read his post properly first.
to the op: I feel your pain. in my first couple of weeks with the kaiser I must have dropped mine a dozen times, I think it's something to do with the extra weight. anyway, I too had some issues with the screen afterward - at one point their was a definite gap between the screen and keyboard as you described. I really noticed it and worried at first, but after a few days use and pocketwear, I found it pretty much closed up by itself. similiarly, i've found times where the top half of the phone has become misaligned to the left or right, so it overhangs slightly - this can be cured with a gentle but firm push the other way. I think the whole mechanism has been designed with a bit of give in it, so it can take odd knock without shattering, but still be nudged back into place without any real damage done. My advice - keep using it, slide and tilt it a few dozen times, and see if it falls back into shape. if it doesn't, try a firm but gentle push in the right direction, and if *that* doesn't work then take it back. but don't take any nonsense in the shop - insist on a warranty repair.
What are you talking about? I was blunt and straight to the point with the op. I told him we can't do anything and where he needs to go. I'm not gonna hold someones hand and tell them everything is gonna be fine and there's light at the end of the tunnel. He made a thread with NO pics to even show us what is going on so are we suppose to guess?
You don't have to be a customer of ATT forums to post there. The Kaiser design and the Tilt design are identical except for logos and the front cam.
The discussion would probably be better there instead of xda-developers

there may be people on the forum that are famaliar with taking apart the Tilt and tightening the hinges. this is why he posted.
Thnx for the support
Thnx for all of the support until now....
i am begining to accept the fact that i can bear the hinge problem which might not be a problem since the aligning is ok slightly loose, but today in the morning, i noticed that after the fall, the "start" button of the keyboard is sticking out, is there anyway to stick.fix it back in like the rest of the keys (something similar to the laptop buttons, by pushing it in, in a way??)
thnx for all of the support.
There is a thread around here some where that has a ZIP or a link to a PDF file that shows you how to take the phone apart. The reson for the PDF was to show you how to make the screen tilt even more than what it does stock. Search for it, I dont have the link, but I have seen it and read it on these forums.
pls
any ideas concerning the keyboard problem?
The start is not in its place no more, it is somewhat hanging...
plssss help...
thnx

As am I. Again. We're not mind readers. If you have a hardware problem you post pics and point-out exactly what's wrong so people can trouble shoot it. Take it to at&t like the first post suggested. I think a few of you need a cab that installs common sense before you post.

The dismantling guide that Grizzley refers to is available here (Tonychen's guide):www.mikechannon.net (in the manuals section)
To the posters that don't like the OPs post:
If the post had been made in the Upgrading Forum then I would join you in saying this is not a development or upgrading matter. However the post was made in the regular Kaiser section and is therefore a completely legitimate post. In fact, we have a tradition of trying to help those that want to dis-assemble their device for whatever reason. Even if they don't, but just need more info on the mechanics of the device then that is ok too. Thinking of the TyTn/Hermes, a fix was found for the loose keyboard problem via dismantling procedures and physical examination of the device. Problems can be physical as well as software related, so don't be too narrowly focused in this general Kaiser forum.
I do agree with those that say you must give full details and pics if at all possible with this kind of problem, otherwise we are left guessing and possibly wasting time suggesting things that maybe inappropriate.
Mike
Pictures are here
Here are the pics...
look at the "start" button, it is not completely removed, it is hanging on like this....
look at the gap from the right hand side (Power + camera button side) is bigger that the gap from the sim slot side, therefore generating a plastic tap sound when pressing on the screen from the right side. as you can see in the pics, the gap is bigger than the paper clip size.
any suggestions for reducing the gap, and fixing the "Start" button?
any suggestions?????
help would be appreciated!
Ok, after seeing what's wrong you def need to take it back to the store you bought it from. Ask them if they can sen it out for repair. They'l most likely give ya a temp phone til it comes back. Now, it's probably not gonna be covered for obvious reasons, however, it might be cheaper to have them repair it rather than buy another one. Worst case scenario you could replace it with a refurb. Refurbs are excellent and some you can't tell if they're refurbs to be honest. Cost is approx $149, plus shipping. Let us know what they say when you take it back.
Other than taking it to the store, any possible suggestion that i could take action on by my self to fix this issue quickly?
because they will ask me to leave it with them for a couple of weeks!
I know cnn.cn does sell replacement parts, if your willing to do the repair yourself. Sorry I cant help anymore

jon_k's post was over 20 days ago, and he's already been corrected by a mod. Before this gets out of hand, let me remind you to not feed the trolls!
With the help of the link above you will be prepared to open the Kaiser. OK, you have to have the tools mentioned and do take a deep breath before you start, but as soon as you start the process is simple. Print out the photo's and write on the paper the colour and type of the screws you removed.
The glued on case above the battery compartment is the meanest of them all to remove and thats where you start with. So when that is done in about 5 minutes you can discover the buttons from the inside and in 10 minutes you come to the hinges where you find a total of four philips screws to tighten.
Beware for one thing though. The black plate which holds the slider system is held by six torx screws. Check them too, but don't tighten them too much or you will end up with a broken screw. Guess how I know
Regards, Roel

Only want to remove the front cover

I've bought the original Keypad for the Kaiser. Now I want to change the T-Mobile one with my original.
I've found several "How to dismantle..." guides, but no one suites.
I now, that I only have to remove the 4 screws on the backside (slide the HTC open). Then carefully put something between cover and the back.
The cover is so tight, that I'm very afraid of ruining my device (scratches...).
Any good advices from the pros? Some pics?

If you actually searched you would have found this http://www.pdacenter.ru/razborka/razbor_htc_kaiser/
I found that and it's not usefull. I don't want to know how to dismantle the whole Kaiser. I'm just interested in removing the front cover.
Please read carefully, thx.
Id also like to know for future reference (dropped phone on 2nd day of having it ) & like the OP said iv read that thread before and the pics dont really show you how to take just the front cover off.
thanks guys

Come on guys, I need input. How do you open the front cover? Which opening tool do you use?

Hold on let me jump on a airplane and come out there and do it for you.
use a mini screwdriver, a butter knife, a stick of dynamyte, or even a !!!!CASE OPENING TOOL!!!!! would probally work. Dont know how much more help anyone can be. Hell go to you tube and watch the step by step video.
I love you too
I have opened a lot of Handys and PDAs. But I have not seen a device like the Kaiser. Cover and backplate are so tight together, that makes me nervous.
That's why I'm crying like a baby and asking for a little help. For example like, "you have to start on the upper left or whatever".

[Q] Help.. lost copper contact from battey

Hello..
I have used Xda for about 2 years now, being the proud owner of an HD2 i have had android and wm7 on it.
Upon taking out the spare battery one of the copper contacts on the phone fell off obviously now the phone wont switch on.
Would anyone know if i need to replace the main board or is there a part i could get that just includes these copper pins?
no need to replace the motherboard. when i had disassembled my diamond i accidently broke the copper contact for the wifi antennae which is on top right corner.
i had a spare copper contact from another mobile phone's speaker as thats where you will easily get hold of one. i jus removed the copper contact and fixed it accordingly on the antennae contacts. it works with 100%
so i wud suggest you the same. find something of same size. maybe from an old mobile phone or mobile phone's speaker or contact.
even if you cant' solder it, try to fix it properly. but since its battery contacts, u better find a way to soldier it slightly.
also keep this contact jus able to touch the battery when inserted, so that less bending on the contact is required and so ur soldering wud remain intact.
good luck
Can you please use descriptive topic titles, "Help" is not descriptive of the topic. Plus its in the rules.
Apologies but help just summed it up for me, i'll try change it if i can.
ayyu3m thanks for this i had a slight bit of luck in finding the copper bit.... it looks slightly hooked so i may even get away with not soldering it
I was worried the motherboard would have to be replaced...

Use the "edit" button then use the "GO Advanced" button
btw, I wasn't trying to be a **** or anything really, Its just that many people will just skip by topics that are not described properly and you will likely have better chance of getting answers if topics have clearer titles.
No problem I appreciate the input.. thanks

Official Google Case Causes Screen Input

A friend of mine just received his official N7 case from Google and promptly realized that it's made of conductive material that creates screen input if you close it with the screen turned on. Has anyone else experienced this?

Video 2:

I literally got my case from UPS 10 minutes after I posted this, and I can recreate the problem too. Here's another thread with some others experiencing the same thing:
http://forums.androidcentral.com/go...n7-case-play-store-causing-screen-freeze.html
Did you know that if I unlock my phone and put it in my pocket.... My pocket starts pushing buttons.. Its like a little gnome lives in my pocket and is trying to text Tokyo.
Tapping the power button seems to solve the problem.
I would suggest doing the same if you plan on using this case.
and here I thought this case couldn't get any worse

Thanks for your valuable input.
Your phone acts the way you explain because your pocket isn't thick enough to keep your leg from activating the screen. The cover on this case is quite thick, and it causes screen input regardless of whether your hand/finger/whatever is on the other side. You can take it completely out of the case, then touch the screen with the cover and replicate the problem. The case itself appears to be conductive - not something you really want on a touchscreen device.
I don't have the problem because I added a magnet to trigger the sleep and wake functions as I close the cover.

Then what would people ***** about? Seriously useless thread is useless, I've got the official case and other that being too much money is fine. Turn the tablet off before you close it, or don't press on the lid until it turns off, simple solution is well simple...case closed.

Hi sway40,
I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you so much for your unsolicited opinion of my post (I even clicked the little "Thanks" button!). I hope it didn't take too much of your time, considering I only asked if anyone else was seeing the problem, and not for your personal thoughts on whether or not it was a good post or subject. I also hope that you're not too upset; the last thing I want to do is make people on the Internet angry by asking what I think are legitimate questions. Going forward, before posting any accessory-related questions in the accessories forum, I'll be certain to post a separate question first, asking if it's okay for me to post my real question. Should I PM you first too?
Thanks again!
Thanks for the info...will wait for a third party cover that includes a magnet!

[Q] Some questions

Hi there. I'd like to ask some question about my Z..
First of all, I'm getting programs crashes on 4.3 version. Should I pass it from my eyes or I need to do something about it ?
Secondly, I've bought case from aliexpress, and I'm afraid of back glass, becouse I've heard some news that some cases may cause back glass crack by itself.
I have ordered this one : http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Screw-less-Luxury-Ultra-Strong-Hard-Thin-Pure-Aluminum-Metal-Matte-Case-For-Sony-Xperia-Z/942127195.html
After that, I wish to know, should I change Z to another phone? Becouse I'm reading a lot of comments in which people say that their phone screen cracks by itself. And I ain't want to happen this to me..
Also, I'm a little bit confused. I've read about anti-virus applications and other apps on official xperia forum and their recommending do not use those applications, so, which way should I use : stay on antivirus or not ?
Also, I have a little bit of pink on my liquid indicator. Is this is bad ? ( a little bit, not full pink). A corner near the flap of headphones are so brushed down, so I can see something like metal.. But It's still waterproof, 'cause I've tested it, but should I stay away from getting my phone in water or not?
And lastly, finally, the main question is, should I upgrade my phone from 4.3 to KK 4.4? I've readed some complaints about upgrade and got know that It may cause lag. So, what the decision should I make?
Thanks for answers.
Sorry for mistakes

Hi!
First Q: if those app that crash are system apps So there is something wrong. If not. That mean the apk is currepted or not support the device so try another one.
Second: metal cases are bad for me. I advice you to use Rubber cases.
Third: the screen will not crack by itself. Only if you put the phone on high temperature place for example car engine
Fourth: all android antiviruses are bad for me. And i don't trust them. Use pc to scan the device.
Fifth:the pink paper means a very very small drop of water is goes inside the phone. Nothing to worry about
Last one: you better wait more one more week. And check people whats got when installing that update. Because i heard about notification panel is laggy.
Thanks
Sorry for bad lang
thank you. +1 thanks to you, bro.
