Hi. I purchased Z3C with preinstalled 6.0.1. I read some articles where are people talking about problems with battery and heating. For now i dont have these problems, but is good idea make downgrade to last 5.1.1 build?

The Marshmallow build has improved since its first realease. There were lots of 'it's broken' stories perpetuated by early adopters who were unsatisfied that it wasn't a perfect release.
Personally I have never had any overheating problems with Marshmallow, with the battery life being much better than Lollipop.
It's definately a much better OS than 5.1.1
There should be another update soon for which will smooth out any remaining problems.
I would stick with it.
IMO it depends on how good your carrier is at getting updates out to your phone. I have not received an updated version of MM (Thanks Bell Canada) and my z3c is struggling mightily with the battery life specifically. Between that and the locked bootloader, I have grown to hate this phone, and am sick of its face.
But I am only one man.

Oh yeah, like they "rigorously tested" the 4.4.4 update that, despite being months behind the release on other carriers, still managed to reduce my battery life from "this easily lasts well into a second day" to "it's dead by the time I get out of work from just idling," even after multiple factory resets?

OK, so let me get this straight. My phone was happy and pretty solid. Battery life was decent and I rarely had to reboot it. I have gone several weeks without an issue or reloading it.
Now, in preparation for 5.0, they push 4.4.4 on me and the interface now crashes regularly, battery life is less than 10 hours and I have to reboot it about every two days. I have missed several calls trying to swipe and answer only to have it ignore my every attempt. How much worse can 5.0 be than the 4.4.4 I have now. Are they testing 5.0 as rigorously as they did 4.4.4? How about letting us go back a version until they can budget enough people to test 5.0?
Funny thing I've been really happy with 4.4.4 and only a few minor issues. Battery life has been the best so far for me.
I'm sure lollipop with be out by the end of March for AT&T anyways. My son in law has it on Verizon and is not really that impressed with it. I'd rather them get it as right as could be than rush it TBH.

I can already tell the article is not worth reading from the URL.
AT&T failed on 4.4.4 bugs and bloatware so what do you thinks going to happen with 5.x Lollipop? :silly:

I completely agree. My phone was pretty solid and my wife's too...now we are both ready to throw them out a window. No battery life, lots of reboots and lost calls. I'd rather have 5.0 sooner than later, but May 22 my Saygus V2 ships. I may be done with Samsung for a while.

After I got the OTA update to 4.4.4, my phone ran like crap! I downgraded back to 4.4.2, rooted and disabled all OTA apps. My phone is now running great on 4.4.2/NG3.

I replaced my phone and upgraded to 4.4.4 from stock NG3. Bluetooth issues that annoyed me such as when playing music from scratch from my radio, it would play some random ringtones. Had to manually select Google music. Downgraded to 4.4.2 and had major wifi issues due to OA1 baseband and older ROM. Realized I left re-activation lock on which wouldn't disable in 4.4.2. Flashed back to stock ND3, wouldn't boot. Did the NG3 to NCE downgrade with the reactivation lock on. Was successful and once I upgraded from NCE to NG3 stock, I was able to disable the lock. Flashed my NuclearFallout ROM back on and ran with it. This will be my last Samsung phone, I'm going Nexus next. Can't stand AT$T adding crap to my device without my permission when I'm running stock.
I can't even read the article on my phone, there's so many pop-ups, side load ads, and auto-start videos.
I will say that the 4.4.4 update pushed out to my S5 Active effectively killed my phone.
Windows ME was more responsive than this.

Never read or post links to sites that force you to mute your computer due to invasive ads. When you see sites that look like that with "news" stories, ads that adjust size as you're reading, ads that keep playing no matter how many times you pause, just hit that "x" button up there. Chances are wonderful that you didn't miss out on anything.
I just a week and half ago decided it was time to buy a house (living in a double wide for 14 years). Filled out loan preapproval, next day had answer. Met with my new realtor at houses. Saw five homes, 5th one was THE ONE. Put an offer, offer accepted same day. Escrow opened. Sent loan paperwork and down payment today. Escrow is 30-45 days. Moral of the story? I will have decided to buy a house and move in BEFORE AT&T gives lollipop to ANY Samsung device I own. At least I have something to occupy my time.
So much for this being their flagship phone on AT&T...

don't lament just yet, even tho it is rolling out to the AT&T Note 4 it is still version 5.0.1 and most of the die hard note 4 are sticking with the 4.4.4 at least until we have root or at least until there is a verifiable way to roll back to 4.4.4 if root is achieved. unfortunately for us Note4 owners currently there is no Odin firmware for 4.4.4 and AT&T is releasing 5.0.1 via OTA only.
just hang in the advantage you users have is there are devs with working L roms that you can flash once you get the official release and root is confirmed still working.

Google has released many leaks to what Android M will offer. T Mobile has leaked the 5.1.1 software that is expected to be pushed to Galaxy s6 and s6 edge, but we only know an expected time frame for the update. Nobody has an exact date or time with credible sources to back it up. Could we possibly be getting an Android M update soon after the push of 5.1? Or maybe (going out on a limb here) could T Mobile decide to suspend the update and hold out for Android M? (They've done this before with the s3 units.)
Probably not. M is only a preview right now and 5.1 is expected to drop in mid june

Fact is, we definitely are not going to see M on S6 anytime soon. Firstly it won't even be official until end of the year. Secondly look at the slow lollipop roll out last year, so we may get it early 2016.
Most importantly, we don't want them to do that...no update until M? This phone needs updates to fix several things, cell standby drain, volte drain, ram management, etc...

According to reports, international s6 will get 5.1.1 in mid June. So with any luck, we will see the update through our carriers by mid July .
As far as M , it won't be released till late October/early November. Since is not such a drastic update like KK to Lollipop we will probably see it by mid January

I completely agree that the phone needs updates like wifi calling and etc. I really hope we get the update to 5.1 as soon as possible, ad preferably, before July. I have a G3 running stock 5.1.1 currently, and the battery life is amazing (even running on a stock kernal) and I have heard a few rumors that Android M will include some security fixes and additions, as well as new multi windows and some new developer options to adjust over/under clocking of the cpu. I have high hopes for M. I hope that we eventually, on the stock rom and kernal, can do some of the M stuff on the s6. It's a great phone with great potential.

True about the potential of S6. Just shocks the heck out of me that Samsung didn't notice the ram management, or didn't think it a issue in the testing phase. At first it didn't bother me, but more and more (unless it's gotten worse) it's been shutting stuff down randomly while only doing like two or three things.
And then Google...I don't get them either. Why does it take as long as six months and longer for the roll out to get to some devices especially the new ones, note 4? I know carries have something to do with that as well but if you release it say October they should penalize carries if they haven't shipped it by end of December. The whole nexus thing first should be thrown out the window since they are now releasing main stream phones not just geared at developers.

Samsung makes great phones. Hell, they pioneered the phablet idea with the Note series. My only problem with them is that they miss key features very often. For example, the ram management on the s6 and the whole overload of TouchWiz on the s3-s5 units. My battery has (this week) been decently lasting me the most of the day. Standby drain is sometimes present, but that's when I know I have to end some processes via greenify without root permissions. I'm really looking to root after the 5.1 update to get the full effect of greenify, as well as deleting some bloatware. Right now, the basic greenify is saving me tons of battery life. I recommend it. My G3 had awesome battery life stock, and even better with my custom roms.

Hello everyone,
i just bought the moto x 2014 on rueducommerce.com (299 euros, and as you may guess i'm french) earlier this week, it arrived yesterday. I have a question for you. Before this phone i had a xperia sp... Was great at the beginning... But every update i did (from 4.1.2 to 4.3) made the phone slower, even buggy. I never reached the comfort of the original jelly bean (4.1.2). Changed the phone 3 times with Orange, but all 3 devices had issues too.
My point is : i like kitkat, my phone is fast, i didn't download a lot of app and i'm not a fan of phone games. I'm afraid to lose the smoothness and fluidity of my phone as i read multiple times that lollipop was buggy. As you may understand, my experience with the sony left me traumatized with updates x)
I ask for your advice : is the 5.1 release worth updating Or maybe wait a little more, for android M?
Thanks for you replies

Personally, I wouldn't go back to KitKat and I loved it when I was running it. The 5.1 update is running really good for me now. Battery life is a lot better since the latest Google Play services update because that was destroying my battery life. Everything else is good. I say give it a shot.

Hello All,
I bought a used ATT Note 3 that's coming today. I've been reading up on rooting, Lollipop, battery life, etc on this phone and have some questions before I make "fatal" changes. Right now I'm using the LG E980, it's stock rooted and very happy with it. Great battery life, nice camera and has served me well. I'm on 4.4.2 and have read up on the "good and bad" of Lollipop. So here's my questions:
#1---The phone (Note 3) is now running 4.4.2. If I "Geohat" root it, will I be able to OTA to Lollipop if i want later on? Will it trip Knox?
#2--- Do I really want Lollipop? I've been quite pleased with Kit Kat but the "geek" in me loves new things, but I've read horrible problems with Lollipop along with people that say it's okay. Also, I really can't find too much on revision 2 of Lollipop if it's good or not.
#3---Is the only way of rooting Lollipop that long, drawn out ODIN process? Once again, is it worth having Lollipop?
#4---If Lollipop is worth it, do people notice (especially) connection problems to car audio? Battery life? Connection issues? Other apps not working?
Basically----Is going to Lollipop the equivalent of going from Windows 7 to Windows 8?
Hello everyone,
When I purchased my Nexus 6 it had 6.0.1 Marshmallow preinstalled on it and then I took the ota's to 7.0/7.1.1 Nougat.
I'm curious as to how Lollipop ran on the Shamu.
For those who got their Nexus 6 with Lollipop on it and have gone all the way up to Nougat, I would like to know which one you think runs the best on it in terms of performance, battery life, and overall effeciency?
Dont go back to lollipop - worthless. Shamu runs great on both marshmallow and nougat - all comes down to your attachment to xposed, if You are not - go with nougat, if You are - stick with marshmallow. From my personal experience battery life is better on nougat, at least in my case, overall smoothness imo is better on nougat + security updates. You just gotta spend some time with both and see what fits you better.
My bet - Nougat.
Thanks for the input. Much appreciated.
I would say the best running is 6.0. 7.x brought worst battery early shut down issues. 7.x is being labled as google vista. Buggy and annoying.
Thanks. Good insight. Appreciate it.
My Shamu is buggy on 7.1.1 stock rom. Think I may revert back to 6.0.
I just want to point out, much of the "buggy", "early shutdown" issues reported are related to the age of the battery. I experienced these problems...until I replaced my battery
I just made the switch to 7.1.2 and I have to say that I really noticed a difference in battery life. My device seems to not drain randomly any more. Could just be that I started totally fresh but either way the latest version of nougat is doing me right.
@therealdanbear by 7.1.2 u mean custom rom or stock rom bcz Google offered its stock version upto 7.1.1
