Hey everybody.
I bought the Z3+ a few weeks back but had to return it sadly.
I was extremely happy with everything except for the overheating and the SoT wouldn't even hit 2.5 hours most days.
I can't really find another phone I would like to buy so I'm wondering if this was maybe a fluke? If you guys get better performance, I might consider re-ordering it...
Unlock the device, root, STAMINA mode activated, install greenify, L speed (if you want to), and ROEHSOFT ram expander. These are what I use. The Stamina works really well in keeping it cool down

What's the screen on time?
I mean, I'm happier with the Z1 as it stands....
Maybe I should go to the Z5/Z5C directly, though the hardware is practically the same and I don't know if they fixed the issues...
Nah. Wait and get the newest one then. Or change to iPhone. I see Sony and Apple are the two best brands for me at the moment.

Apparently the effectiveness of this is debatable

Nice did t see that. Seems to make my phone faster will have to keep running it and see
Sent from my HTC Vivid 4G
although it did seem smoother, definitely seemed to punish my battery (cpu was not spending as much time in deep sleep). Really cant say whether it was a placebo, or simply the CPU being faster to respond due to not sleeping. ymmv
This works heaps better than Seeder:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2113150
Was using this on the sensation before getting the Vivid... going to try it now to see if it works as i'm not sure if it was kernel support dependent.. either way.. waiting to see if the creator of the Sultan Kernel for the sensation can port the kernel for the Vivid so we can also get FRANDOM support (read point 5 of above thread for info):

Improvement is very noticeable and i actually get better battery life than with Seeder.... but improvement will be far more significant once we get a kernel with Frandom support and fingers crossed the dev pulls through.
It's not a raw or outright performance improvement..it removes lag so much that it feels like a computer that you just doubled the ram on as things load a lot quicker.
There was sort of an issue before that wasn't really an issue which was a too aggressive ad-blocker as some people preferred to have ads while playing games for free platinum/gold/etc offer ads...
It's not detrimental though.. just flash the uninstall zip if you don't like it.. i'm currently running it with the official CM10.
I really like CM but it's really, really slow, especially when Wi-Fi is on. It hangs a lot.
My question is: Is this because it needs more work or I shouldn't ever expect it to get much faster because of physical limitations? I'm only asking because CM10 received a lot of work and it still didn't get faster, and then it switched to CM10.1. It's been almost a year without a working GPS and I don't know if it's the software or the device that's the problem.
CyanogenMod is fast and smooth if you know how to use it correctly and not spam downloading apps which eats up all your RAM.In the performance settings,Turn some options on/off could make all the difference between laggy and unlaggy.I have used CyanogenMod for the past 6 months and its getting better nowadays.Recently,They implemented a fix to vsync on our device and it made the experience a bit smoother. Its also partly due to our hardware limitations.1Ghz Single Core and 512mb is just no longer enough to keep up with the other devices coming out every month. So if you want a smooth experience,You could sell the OB and maybe purchase a second hand with better specs? As for GPS,some members here has found a fix,So you could try looking for it.

Haha yea greenify helps a lot and current default nightlies(No mods no greenify) are quite smooth Less battery eating as well.

It seems smooth as long as Wi-Fi is not running. Not very smooth, but usable. As soon as I turn-on Wi-Fi it becomes almost unusable, really slow, a lot of crashes from some apps.
I don't have a lot of apps, and I mostly keep sync off. If I turn sync on, then I'm just basically locking my phone out of use, it becomes really slow.

Left my phone overnight with gravity box and saw a 0% drop in battery. I'm happy with that.
What i've found murders the battery is being connected to the internet and interaction with the handset, ie gaming, music, movies, browsing. Standby is fantastic.

Not getting 2 + days on anything me, do you have a lot installed to be getting time like that on one charge? Note users don't even get that.
I can maybe stretch a day and a half.

Do you have Cell standy in your list of battery usage stats? I also have candy crush firmly in third and then phone idle.
Please keep in mind that this thread is about full screen caller id and not about battery life

Hi all, I currently own a Xperia U which I plan on changing in about June-July.
By that time, the SP will be priced about 250-279, €, and I love the esthetics of this phone.
The thing is, will it still be a good buy or will it be outdated?
Do you reccommend me this phone? I'll have to keep it for ~3-4 years so I have to choose carefully
Thanks for the help

I know, I would have chose the Z1 compact but it's too expensive, unless I find it for ~350€, but now it costs 500 so I don't think it's probable.. I'd like to keep using Sony products, what's the best phone in this range (250-350)?

The SP is real good! Another Sony Smartphone alternative I think is the Xperia M2 (just released on MWC) or the Xperia ZL maybe? Just take a look at them

So, if your budget is 350€ you can go with Xperia SP, and sorry I mean this phone will be outdated in 2 years
i think that by july there will be better options from sony since you like their design language you should stock to them, theres an upcoming sony called the xperia G and seems to be a very nice midranger, the reason i got the SP was because i got it for free for about 18 euros a month or about 25cdn/usd
Its a perfect phone but the one flaw with it is the roms
i keep saying it to everybody and ill say it again
this phone doesnt have a single good rom and believe me i tried every single rom in this website and i tried everyone for alteast 1 month if not more and i can tell you its gonna be a pain if you love flashing custom roms
This phone is probably one of the best for its price regarding performance.
However there are some little issues like the camera not being as good as expected ( you can still take some good photos though ) and memory management ( which one rooted be solved )
If you are planning to use this phone for 3-4 years I'm not sure SP will really be a good choice. It is solid (I let it fall more than once and it had nothing but little scratches on the corner ) but it doesn't seem like it will last long.
For example the screen got some scratches while being in my pocket and there is dust between the screen and the glass ( that might be cleaned under warranty )
Also this phone doesn't have a removable battery. It has a quite good battery life but 3-4 years is long for a phone battery and you can't change it.
If you like it rooted and customized, be sure you have an unlockable bootloader and there will be enough roms to flash. The 4.3 source have just been released for this device and it will enhance all the aosp based roms.
So more generally this phone is good and has visually a very good build quality but if you use it for some time you might feel like "issues" have been hidden behind a beautiful design and great performances.
In short my feeling is : premium design and performance but doesn't really feel premium as you use it for some time.
You should consider other options but if you do not really care about this "premium" feeling the Xperia SP is a good phone for the price.
Note : I've had this phone for about 6-7 month

Hey guys. I just got my Note Edge. Yes I realize it is different from Note 4 but it still runs the same Lagwiz on T Mobile. I haven't had time nor do i have the time to look for custom ROMs. I also just got the phone for 400 bucks so I am very wary of doing any flashing since Samsung is trying to make it harder to make this phones useful for past a year.
Was wondering if you guys could impart some much needed wisdom. My phone came with 5.0.1 unfortunately so I couldn't tell it not to update. Battery life sucks on this. What T Mobile Bloatware and Bloatwiz stuff and other tips can I use. I just realized wifi takes more power it appears than data which has never been the case for me in the past

If you want to get serious about saving battery, root it and use Titanium Backup or ROM Toobox to freeze apps & services you never use (or unlock the bootloader and flash a debloated rom), then install Xposed, this module to fix the "mobile radio active" bug, Greenify, and Servicely.
Here is an excellent list of lollipop Touchwiz bloatware.
Use a 3rd party launcher like Nova Launcher to get rid of the Touchwiz launcher lag. Nova Launcher Prime is definitely worth the money :good:
Note 4 is great and all but the battery life is its weakness 3 and half hours sot is unacceptable I'm going with the note 5 to see if it's progressed
