WTF. Never done anything that radical with this phone but the audio is not even adjustable. Starts in headphones at MAX MAX VOLUME. And from there it is bound to kill the ears. Is this a common bug here? It cant be even adjusted, or shut off.
Never had this problem, what's your Rom?
Edit: Nvm, I just realized that you have stock lollipop

It's happened a few times. I think if the headphones are pulled out and re inserted it is corrected. Still, when it happens it is painful and independent of the set media volume.
I'm finding the phone is built this way deliberately by someone. I mean my ears are ringing this morning from some p. o. s's malware. If I find out who did it I intend to cut out his eyes.

Anyone else has/had this problem with Z1? Model C6903
My headphones aren't being recognized (I tried several including official sony headphones - i did not try bluetooth headphones) - when I connect them, the headphones icon does not appear in the notification tray.
This problem started after i got my phone from the repair shop (display had to be replaced). Before sending it to repair shop I did a factory reset of the phone.
Guys from the repair shop said they tested the headphone jack by connecting it with speakers and they said sound would play normally over external speakers.
What could be the cause of this (besides faulty repair)? When I get home today I will test the phone with bluetooth headphones, if it doesnt work with them it surely is a software problem..
I am running official 4.3 ROM with stock kernel, unrooted device..
I've even disabled smart connect app but problem is still present
Take a Q-tip cotton ball and put a bit of it in the jack then take the plastic stick of the cotton ball and place it over the tiny cotton in the headphone jack and twist, roll it (clean the headphone jack) using the plastic stick
will try that, but i did not wet the phone..
edit
didnt help
Sometimes happens to me as well... I try with two different pair of headphones for the moment: one works all the times (Monster), the other (WESC) less than 50% of the times.
I'm sure it's some kind of hardware-detection problem.
As you, I didn't get my phone underwater (yet!, but some day I will for sure!)...
strange issue....
Someone on here reported the ring around the opening on their device had moved and was sat proud of the rest of the body, I can't help wonder is this what's happened to yours? Even half.a millimetre would be enough to dislodge the contacts inside the headphone socket.
Never had this issue and my phone was underwater quite a few times.

i've sent my phone back to the repair shop and will see if they fix this issue.
From some time my right earbud goes quiet until it barely plays. I tried disconnecting and connecting again, rebooting the phone and nothing. It still stops working properly. I've found out that after some time it works as it should again, and it goes quiet again. Like an endless loop. Any ideas? I'm not deaf on right ear. Few people confirmed that.

100% faulty earphones, I had exactly the same problem. After playing music for long time my left ear plug start decrease the volume of the music by it-self and the right one was always fine, to end stopping completely after 15 minutes. I was thinking is the phone or the bluetooth handset so I try it on different device and was the same. Next day it start working again like new, but again after playing music for some time it start decrease volume by it-self. It's just defective and when it get a bit hot it stopping working. I got replacement via Warranty. Do the same.

Hi, this is driving me crazy, for couple of months I'm experiencing this annoying problem with sound stuttering when screen is off and thus cpu frequency is reduced. This is mostly noticed on bluetooth headset, on cord headset its better, music still stutters but at least for a milisecond and not half of second or so as it was on bluetooth. The problem started some random day on 4.3, I upgraded to 4.4 hoping it will fix the problem but it didn't, due to a fact kitekat had some crazy restrictions now I have a root to give back list privileges.
Music is stored on sd card, i tried two different ones but that didnt help, the one i use now i 64gig kingstone class 10. The player of choice is poweramp with high priority and longest buffer enabled. This also isnt the case, tries some random players but it was the same.
I read something about changing the cpu frequency while the screen is off, i have tasker in which i could probably set a rule that would boost cpu while the screen is off and the music is playing or something but what frequency would be safe? Or perhaps there is a different sollution? I looked all over internet for a decent fix but couldnt find anything. Bottom line is, screen on = good playback, screen off = stutter randomly happens.

Hi
First i excuse for my poor english
I had this problem ago
This is because of your sony stock rom that can be laggy
I changed my rom to custom rom ( existenz 3.5.5 )
And everything is ok
Sony stock rom 4.4.4 lags is more than 4.4.2
I advice you to change your rom to a custumized tweakable custom rom
Hi. I've got an Xperia Z here that I managed to get a good deal on because it doesn't play sound from the loudspeaker. Everything else works absolutely perfect including the headphone port. I've tried putting the board in another z and it still refused to produce sound through that loudspeaker too and another board in this z made it play sound. Does anyone have any idea what could cause this? I know when stuff like that happened psps years ago they had little fuses you could bridge but I can't find any info at all about the z motherboard.
For anyone that's interested it turns out it actually is playing sound but at an extremely low volume level to the stage where you can just barely hear it if you hold it right to your ear.

I have the same problem. In my case, it is probably hardware - related. Here is the picture of broken part.

So today I tried my loved p10 with different BT headsets and I have to say that Im just shocked- every each of them has horribly low volume- I mean super low. I have cranked volume all the way up, but its only like 50% of what I need. I also noticed that DTS mode cannot be turned on with BT device. Regular wired headphones however are loud just enough.
I have tested all of these BT headphones on my laptop and they are able to produce loud sound easily, so problem is phobe related- any solutions?
Have you tried to turn up bt volume? Once device is connected I have another volume settings, bt volume which is different than the main one.
I'm using bt with plantronics headset and some audio receiver connected to external speakers and it was always fine for me.

There's no separate control for BT volume that i could find. I just got some wireless ear buds and in the same boat. Sounds like garbage with my p10 plus but great with my laptop.
