Please Help!
Yesterday, my Milestone crashed while using the camera, tried to reboot and got stuck at the M logo.
I CAN NOT access recovery, it sticks at the M logo.
Tried reflashing using RSDLite using both Service and Non-Service ROMS, it appears to work OK, gets to where the phone reboots, the phone stays at the M logo and RSDLite says manually reboot phone. If I reboot to bootloader mode, RSDLite says PASS, but rebooting the phone stays at the M logo.
I was running GOT's SHOLS_U2_02.36.0, Rooted, Overclock (800mhz), Memhack.
I also tried reflashing the bootloader, both 90.73 (my original), also 90.78 (just in case the camera button was broken and was the reason I couldn't access recovery). Same result, stuck at M logo.
Also, if I plug the Milestone into the Wall charger, it sticks at the M logo, I don't get the recharging logo.
I have also tried reflashing the both the SIM card and SDCard removed, still stuck at the M logo and cant get to recovery.
Please help, if anyone has any ideas, this is driving me absolutely crazy.
Hi there,
I got this problem when I flashing the milestone back to offical ROMs using RSD method. Also stuck at the M logo no matter uplung the battery or using the recovery mode.
I solved this by wipe the data and cache in the recovery mode then reboot.......everything works fine. Hope this help!!

Thanks for the info, but my problem is I can not get into recovery to wipe data and cache. Everytime I try to boot into recovery, it just gets stuck at the M logo.
Did you mean when you plug the battery in,it bootup automatically?
If so, press the carmera button before you plug the battery in,it will boot into recovery mode.
Hope this help.

When I put it the battery, it tries to boot automatically. I had already tried what you suggested, that's the method I can use to access the bootloader menu for flashing. Also, if you pull out the SIM card, the phone doesn't automatically start to boot, I tried that method with power and camera buttons, but didn't work either.
No matter what I try, it won't let me boot into recovery mode. I am sure that if I could access recovery mode, I could wipe data and davlik cache and this would fix my problem.
The only thing I can access is the Bootloader menu (power switch and Up on the keyboard) for flashing with RSDLite.
I am having this problem too. Is there a true fix for this???
Did you tried starting the milestone without battery? When the great battery appears you can put the battery in and let it charge.
I don't have a problem with the battery as i was able to fully charge it. I've tried every thing that i can flash to try to bring it back to life to no avail. Can't get to recovery either. I keep seeing a bunch of people saying that re-flashing it back to stock would un-brick this, but i am starting to think i have a brick.
BTW i have a Telus Milestone.
Maybe the case you have upgraded bootloader?
Have you already tried to flash only the vulnerable recovery and then try to boot in recovery mode?

I have bootloader 90.78. And yes i have tried the vulnerable recovery. When i try to boot to recovery mode it just sits at a blank screen and reboots back to the moto logo.
I believe it is next to impossible to brick a Milestone as we can't touch anything along the bootline.

Everytime i flash the Telus SBF it shows that it finished sucessfully but after it reboots it goes back to the Bootloader 90.78 screen.
I've even tried flashing different sbfs and the same result.

I eventually fixed this by flashing a rom with a diferent baseband. My milestone is a UK model, when I tried flasing the GOT 2.2 for telsus, it actually worked, then I reflashed a UK rom.
I don't know why that worked, maybe I had a corruption is the baseband files, but if that was the case, flashing a uk rom should of worked also.
Hope you get yours going again.

Yeah, i saw your solution on another forum, i tried that and no go. its getting frustrating.
Hy,
This seems a little odd,but at least it's an idea:
Unplug the battery and leave it unplugged for at least one hour. In the meantime(battery still unplugged) press the power button for 5-10 secs or so...this guarantees that there will be no current left on the phone...after the hour, try to reboot and keep the fingers crossed..i know this sounds stupid, but at least give it a try
Good luck!

Just to clarify, after you've flashed it boots straight into the bootloader? Does you get any type of error message such as code corrupt or a string of hex codes?
Are you trying to flash 2.1 or 2.2 or have you tried both?
When my was bricked, flashing 2.1 would boot to the m logo and sit there forever. Flashing 2.2 would boot to the m logo, stay there for maybe 30 seconds, then reboot and repeat. It was the diferent effects of flashing the two versions that lead me to try diferent basebands. Also, I'm pretty sure that I tried flashing diferent basebands for 2.1 without it working.
Also, what happens when you plug into the wall charger? Do you get the battery graphic or does it stick at the m logo?

After the flash it goes straight back to the bootloader screen and with a string of hex codes: a5,69,35,00,27
I've flashed both 2.1 & 2.2 sbfs. Same thing happens after each flash, nothing different like you mentioned. So i can't really narrow it down.
I do not get a battery graphic when i plug in the wall charger, it goes from the moto logo to the bootloader 90.78 screen and then reboots. it probably does this about 5 times and then turns off.

That code is for a bad flash. See this link on android-hilfe.de (its german, link is with google translate), scroll down to lesson 9:

Try flashing with diferent versions of RSDLite. Re-install usb drivers, try flashing from a different PC, make sure your flashing NON-SERVICE sbf's.
Hope this helps

Also, redownload your your sbf files, the one your flashing might be corrput.
I rooted my droid 4 a few months ago when I first got it so I could tether. I removed a couple of programs using titanium backup (blockbuster app and some other bloat). Phone worked fine until monday when the touchscreen stopped working. I did a reboot (power + volume down) whereupon it just sat at the M "Dual Core" logo. I tried booting into the recovery menu but selecting "recovery" didn't do anything - it would just hang.
Last night I was able to get it working again by going into the recovery menu and selecting asp fastboot, then using RSDLite to push a stock Droid 4 ROM onto the phone. However, it didn't wipe my old system, and didnt install over it either because all my files were there, and the programs I removed were still gone. So the phone worked for a few hours then the touchscreen stopped working again.
I repeated the process with RSDLite and after a few failed attempts where the phone would hang while booting, I finally got it to boot into the OS again. And this is where I am at now.
I am pretty sure that the problem is related to the OS that is on the phone now and that I need to wipe the phone and start fresh with either a custom ROM or the stock D4 ROM. The problem is that I can't get recovery to do a factory reset. As I mentioned above, recovery just hangs and doesn't do anything. I am reasonably literate when it comes to this stuff but I get really confused because there are so many different ways that people seem to do this stuff (safestrap, bootstrap, CM( etc). I would love to try CM9 but my priority right now is just to have a phone that works. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

select recovery by holding the vol buttons and power on boot just like fastboot. press vol - for recovery. when u see dead droid hit both vol up and vol down and theres the recovery
Thanks, I was finally able to get into recovery. Wiped data and did a factory reset which again got stuck at the logo screen. Went back into fastboot and ran RSDlite again to flash the stock ROM which gets me to the "Welcome to Droid4" screen where it says "touch the android to start" but the touchscreen is unresponsive. Starting to think there is something physically wrong with the phone....
send it to motorola, I've heard their customer support is pretty good. but if you voided your warranty by rooting/flashing other roms, I've heard bricking the phone and sending it in works to get a new one too
The only way I can send it back is through an insurance claim so I am trying to save myself $75j if this thing will just work. I just did a reboot and now the touchscreen seems to be working so I am going through the setup process....so weird.
Update: I was able to get the phone to load up and configured my google account etc. It appears that the phone is now running on completely stock installation of OS.....

So it has been a couple days now and the phone works totally fine. It looks like the problem was that by removing whatever bloatware that I did, the phone's OS got borked when VZW pushed an update of some kind. Flashing the stock ROM without doing a factory wipe would temporarily solve the problem but eventually the update would get pushed again and the whole thing would lock up again. The factory wipe + reinstall seems to have been the solution to the problem.
update wouldnt install the stock way so decided to force it with odin first it just failed in odin on the last step, so i found the cf auto root method ran that and now i cant even get back to download mode help!!! thanks.
edit was able to get back into download mode figured out i was pressing the button the wrong way. anyway tried reflashing the 4.1.2 build i found and after flashing it says "fail" at the modem stage, so i restarted download mode and flashed the cf auto root again, it started to "update apps for 4.1.2" and kept rebooting itself where it left off, now when booting it said "starting apps" and just reboot again and now just keeps rebooting.
any help would be greatly appreciated.

What kind of reset? (cant factory reset dont have a recovery to do that with) i've tried taking battery out and putting it back in and it just boot loops after installing the cf autoroot file. so i than tried flashing the 4.1.2 file and it fails again, like a vicious cycle. downloading the stock image now i just want the camera to boot again i shouldnt have bothered with the update lol.
edit: installed stock image get same fail message at modem part, so ran the cf autoroot again it than restarted and "upgraded" all the apps went all the way through this to to finishing boot and now is boot looping again!!!!!!!!!! errrrrr i should have never even bothered with all this.
don't you have at least a stock recovery?
holding zoom+ while turning on my galaxy camera boots it into a simple recovery mode.
4th option is "wipe data/factory reset"
the stock recovery doesn't have as much options as cwm or twrp, but it's enough for a reset.
for recovery or download mode you always have to power down your camera completely, if quick startup is enabled it goes into standby instead so you may have to pull the battery first.

Thanks so much worked at least it boots now i think ill just stick with 4.1.1 and a working device thanks for all your help.
okay so just like you read, i took a photo, opened an mms to send it, then the phone bricked itself. i got a black screen as if the phone was to freeze but then after several attempts to reboot (holding down the power button for long time, pulling battery, etc, etc) i got stuck in a boot loop and this is where i am now.
cannot get into recovery, only download mode.
the phone IS NOT ROOTED. which is what confuses the hell out of me.
i use nova launcher and a bunch of basic apps. nothing has been done to this os other than the launcher and the kernel is all stock too.
can really use some help because i need to retrieve some files off the phone storage.
thanks so much

odin the base you were on and you should be good, you probably somehow got your partition corrupted so you may want to do a clean flash after that

Sorry that you are having such problems. I honestly doubt that it had anything to do with you sending a picture. This looks more like a hardware failure that might be the reason you cannot enter the recovery.
Maybe this helps with the Data recovery. Connect the phone to your computer maybe you are lucky and it gets recognized as a hard drive and you can manually move the files that you want.
If that doesn't work you might want to download the original firmware from your phone (the one that you are using) and flash it via download mode. should that not work try to flash a previous firmware version.
Should none of that work you can try to download just the recovery and flash that and see if that works.
If that doesn't work you might try to root the phone and install a custom rom.
Once you make it into the recovery you should be able to do a reset - however that will destroy the data on the phone.
Good luck with that and you might have to return the phone to be serviced.
Hello,
Today, while I was using my phone, it restarted itself and has been stuck at a boot loop almost entirely since then. It has successfully booted up 2-3 times but will usually restart itself within 30-45 seconds of booting and then will be stuck in a boot loop again. When it has started up its usually after it has been bootlooping for a while. I'm rooted and using xTreme Rom v2.0. I have had occasional random reboots here and there before but the phone always booted right up again without any issues. I haven't done anything with root/recovery since early September.
I've tried doing a factory hard reset without any luck. My phone booted up after I tried the hard reset and it was like the reset didn't happen. I can't boot into TWRP. I can boot into download mode and I tried to reset using kdz. It got to 100% but the the phone restarts and is back in the boot loop (then the lg flash tool gets an error and force quits). I've tried removing my sd and sim cards, I've tried swapping to a different battery, I've tried leaving the battyer out and letting the phone cool down. Nothing is working. I have noticed that when the phone is going to boot up correctly the full LG animation plays. When the phone is going to boot loop I only get a static LG Powered by android image.
Any suggestions?
Since I tried to rest using kdz I can't get past the boot loop...Device also isn't recognized when using adb
edit: It booted up once this morning and went to the initial set up screen, like the kdz worked. But about 30 seconds-a minute later the phone locked up, rebooted and has been stuck in a boot loop since.
That's weird..
So the KDZ goes through all the way successfully.
Phone does the update all apps etc.. and it still boot loops after a while?
Which ROM version are you updating it back to?
My phone just did the exact same thing. I'm also on the Extreme Rom. Everything you described is my experience too. When I use the LG tool it goes all the way through and reboots the phone but just keeps bootlooping. Did you find a fix? I've tried everything i can think of. Probably going to take it in tomorrow and get warranty on it.

I used the following method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/general/guide-lg-g4-stock-firmware-to-stock-kdz-t3107848
Download the correct KDZ file to flash back to and follow the rest of the instructions. You can also look at this video tutorial. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXO2SHqBiNk
The one you'll want to try is "Normal Flash"
"CSE Flash" is a full wipe that deletes all data.
Mine was weird where it told me my phone disconnected, but the progress bar was still continuing. If that happens to you, don't hit cancel, let the progress bar finish to 100%
