After downgrade from 5.3 to 5.1.1 I get black screen when I want to turn Amazon fire on.
How to fix this?
You can't fix it.
You broke it...
5.1.2 is as low as you can go
Send it back to amzn if you can

thats a very, VERY naughty android.
anyways, why don't you unroot your phone and send it back to HTC. its still under warranty for 10 more days atleast
They should be able to fix it for $39 (or free0
call them. that way you can experience the phone like its supposed to be experienced

you have to finger the green guy really hard to get him to go away, and if you finger him just right, then he will return every time you wipe your phone.
Hi all noob on this forum.. A friend had his kindle fire hd replaced by Amazon. He gav m the on that was replaced but it is absolutely dead. I have a factory cable from a motorola which i thought may help. but there is absolutely no reponse from the kindle. i assume that it is beyond the pale. griend said it had been in demo mode. he used the kfu, got it into fastboot but he had not, read the warnings on here. and lo and behold th kfhd is demised. i there any point holding on to it or shall i just ebay it for spares?
thanks for any comments . (constructive more so) but laughter is an acknowledged reponse.

Well took the back off just to have a look somebody obviously been in before. The connector for the red and black cables was broken. The copper foil had obviously been disturbed. Was going to try the usb short trick but does not look like the thumbnail in the picture so not sure which bit to short. Will keep searching to see if there is an answer somewhere.

Did you reconnect the red and black cable? If not try reconnecting the wire and then try your fastboot cable if you get the fast boot screen then you can just go to the thread about the system image restore tool and follow the instructions. I brick my kondle hd and got it back with the tool. I only had one problem doing this i made my own cable and windows didnt recognize my device. So i unplug the fastboot cable while still in fast boot and just conected my kindle usb cable and re setup drivers. Then i just followed the instructions for the restore tool
Sent from my KFTT using xda app-developers app
Reconnected cables, still no life from the little beast. Does get warm just above the charging port on the back of the kindle.
My chromecast had a red light a week ago. I held the button to factory reset, it didn't reset instead it flashed white or pink (don't remember) and it showed the backdrop and worked fine. The chromecast is plugged into the USB port on the TV (WISELINK PORT, worked fine for a few months). Turned off TV, so that turned off the chromecast. Turned it back on the chromecast light is red, just noticed 2 days ago. Switched to chromecast as source and the TV got a signal but it was a black screen. Tried to FDR, didn't work so I just unplugged power and replugged it back in. Chromecast starts up with an exclaimation mark telling me to goto chromecast.com/startup-issues. Rebooted again, it said at the bottom chromecast with 3 dots (is that some old bootloader thing?). Tried using AC power adapter included in box, no signal still red light. Switched HDMI ports, no avail. I am scratching my head wondering what is wrong? From the top of my head I remember reading about some kind of hard reset on the chromecast subreddit, it had something to do with unplugging the chromecast still connecting power and doing something. The reset button isn't stuck (it clicks). The chromecast doesn't broadcast its SSID. Anyone have any other troubleshooting suggestions or things I should try?
Edit: The title should say "Chromecast red light (Think from new firmware 31432)
Sounds like your reset button is stuck.
Was your Chromecast rooted or stock?

My reset button clicks normally. It is stock. I fixed it one time by continuously turning it's power source on/off and turning it on it worked until I turned it off and back on again. (So it doesn't work , my fix doesn't work anymore)
In that case it sounds like it's (going) bad. I had one that was similar.
Call Google and get it replaced - the RMA process is pretty straightforward, at least mine was.

I bought it from Micro Center (a physical store) and don't have the receipt. Do you know if google replaces it or the store does?

If you're within the store's return policy, replace it with them.
If not, you will need proof of purchase, at least that was the case as of last July.
Thank you for contacting Google. In order for me to process your warranty, I'll need to have proof-of-purchase from you validating the retail sale date. For proof-of-purchase, please take a picture of the sales receipt and send it over as an attachment to this email.

(They send you an email after determining the unit needs replacement on the phone call)
Micro Center may be able to look up your receipt in their system if you know the approximate date of purchase and you used a credit card.
Hello. I was just using my Fire tablet normally. I opened up the YouTube app and I clicked on the subscription section then my Fire screen turned white all of a sudden. I forced shutdown, let it sit, removed the SD card and tried to charge it and it still is just a white screen. I connected the Fire to my computer (Kubuntu 16.04 LTS) and it would show up but I couldn't pull my files off of it. ADB doesn't work either. My device was never opened, I have not rooted it or installed a ROM onto it, I installed Google Play on it, I disabled OTA updates, and I installed Nova Launcher with widgets. So what went wrong here? Thanks.

Sounds like a hardware fault. Contact Amazon for an exchange if within the warranty period for your region.

Unlikely unless skilled in electronics diagnostics. Sourcing a replacement part would be the next challenge assuming you could identify the culprit. Most just purchase a used device with a cracked screen from eBay and start swapping components. Alternatively, look for a replacement at Amazon Warehouse. You can often find refurbs for about 60% the cost of a new one.

Thanks for your help, do you think there is any way for me to access my data? I mean its okay if I an't because most of my stuff is in the cloud, but it would be nice anyway. Thanks.
Quick update, my Fire tablet can make sound and can respond to touches and I get notifications. So I'm wondering if the screen is dead?

Possible the LCD cable has become partially dislodged. It so it's a fairly easy fix. See link below for teardown instructions. You want to check the LCD (vs. digitizer) cable. Once accessible gently push against the back side to insure it is fully engaged with the main board.
So I went and opens up my device and couldn't fix it. I'm just going to use my Fire for a scrap part for another Fire tablet. Thanks for helping me.:good:
My son has smashed his p20 pro, the screen is totally dead. I'm kind of new to this stuff, how can we get his photos videos etc off the phone? As far as I know it has stock software on it.
Thanks
Use Vysor, google it, it allows you pc/mouse access to whatever you CANT see on your broken screen.

Thanks for that, I've downloaded and run it, looks like he hasnt enabled usb debugging on his phone, so I'm still stuck
Have you tried a fone to hdmi lead in order to possibly see phone screen on a tv/monitor?

I'm trying to get hold of one now, I've been reading other threads and it seems like a good option!
With that lead you only need to enable usb debug, then Vysor all the way
