I was walking around disney yesterday and my wife had almost full bars on her s7 edge and mine had no service, I had to put into airplane mode and then turn the signal back on for it to maybe work that didnt always work either.
I've got great signal on mine so far. There's a post on Reddit with a couple people also saying they have a bad signal. But everyone else says their signal is better than what they had previously.
I have a friend who also upgraded to the Note 7 from the Note 3 and he said he's getting better signal as well. There are always going to be a few faulty devices. Might want to take it back and exchange it if you suspect a faulty device.

Agreed
Mine falls back to no service where I don't think it should. It's like it's so slow to switch towers to where it just goes to no service until it latches onto something else or until airplane mode is toggled.

Same signal problem hadNote 5 and Note 7. The Galaxy note 5 switch towers fast. NOTE 7 stay in 4g or no signal .
Mine has done that once. Had to restart phone. Wouldn't connect even though I could see all the carriers.

Mine is having issues with carrier aggregation. When the phone is connected to b12, and b4. B12 alone is giving sub 1mb speeds, and b4 is over 20mb. B12 with B4 CA is giving the same speeds as just B12. Below is a screenshot of the service menu.

Note 7 tmobile no signal Had to restart phone
Note 5 tmobile Full signal
I've had a lot better service. I came from the iPhone 6s+, which I would say had the best signal reception of any phone that I've ever used. I've used it side by side with the iPhone 6, 5s, note 5, note 4, nexus 6, nexus 5x, LG G5, etc... Point is that this phone blows out other devices in comparison with signal reception. I'd say to hit up tmobile and get them to exchange it. Ive had to do it before with my old nexus 6. I didnt really even need to prove anything either. They took my word for it since I could make it happen on command and sent me a new device the next day. You may have some luck with the next device that you receive.
I'm having issues with carrier aggregation, where the phone is connected to band 12, and CA with band 4. Band 4 is showing a signal of 130db using ca. In the same location if I directly connect to band 4 the db will be 109db.
Sent from my SM-N930T using Tapatalk
I'm having the same kinds of signal issues with mine as well. If I leave an area where I've been connected to wifi, then I lose all cellular signals. Even toggling airplane mode won't always get a connection back for me. Sometimes the first toggle will appear to at least get something back, but it takes a second one to get data back.
Hopefully the first round of updates will get things fixed.

Yesterday I lost LTE, could only make calls and text, no data whatsoever. Checked Mobile Networks / Network Mode, Network Operations, APN's. All good. Called T-mobile to complain, tried walking me through the same stuff. Restarted phone numerous times. Then drove over 30 miles(I assume moved towers) and still had no data, restarted, nothing. Went and ended up getting a new Note7 from tmobile on exchange(and new sim), now I am randomly still loosing signal and having to restart to regain LTE which didn't work with the previous phone. I am indoors though, so I am not sure wtf is going on. Super annoying. We shall see.
Whenever I enter the underground parking of my condo building, note 7 lost signl completely. I have an old note 4 with a different sim, full bar 4g LTE. Called tmobile, they said note 7 is running on 1900mhz while note 4 is on 700mhz. 1st tech said they already started working on updating towers. Few days later, 2nd tech was not aware of any work in progress. And.recommended.me to swith to a lower connection 2g/3g when i enter garage!
The Note 7 also supports band 12 / 700MHz, so it sounds like typical CS BS.

Did you use smart switch to move your data from one to another? Even a rep at T-mobile told me he noticed issues when using it. Need to do a hard reset to fix it.

Try a Factory Reset. The Smart Switch may have influenced your configuration.
Personally I came from an iPhone 6S Plus. My service was spotty constantly losing Data and dropping to GPRS in one situation. I have had 100% LTE coverage here in Sacramento since switching and it's been the best phone and decision I have made.

I did use smart switch. Thanks for the feedback. I'll give it a go if issues persist. Usually I would hard reset as a last resort but i was pissed.

Just saw Sprint added "Spark" coverage in Austin. http://newsroom.sprint.com/news-rel...up-to-60-mbps-now-available-in-11-markets.htm
Has anyone here connected to it?
I've enabled my Nexus 5 as described here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2530061.
Haven't seen any difference at all. Anyone know how to tell if you are connected?
The coverage map looks pretty damn good in Austin for Spark. http://coverage.sprint.com/IMPACT.jsp?ECID=vanity:coverage
I've been waiting almost 4 years for Sprint 4G. First it was WiMax, then LTE and now SPARC. I'm still stuck in the dark ages with 200 kbs downloads. Maybe by the time I get something better, you guys will be on 6G or 7G technology......but I'm not bitter. :/
also in austin and have tried every combination of band/priority and no difference.
hopefully soon as sprint speeds here are simply a joke

+1 for this. I live in a metro area of about a quarter million people (not huge, but not tiny either), and we most likely won't have Sprint LTE until 2018 because our service is provided by an affiliate that owns the infrastructure and is in no hurry to spend any cash to update their backhaul. Spark would be awesome, but usable 3g would also be nice. My account has 5 lines with different contract expiration dates, so switching to another carrier would be way too expensive to even consider right now (unless T-Mobile had decent coverage here, but that's another discussion entirely).

Wow, same exact situation here. I live in a bustling college town with an area population of about 150,000. Sprint service is provided by a janky little network called nTelos and there is no way of knowing when they will ever step into this century. My little company only has 3 lines, but we face the same dilemma. I went so far as to grab a prepaid Tmobile SIM to experiment with, but it was 1X everywhere I tried. I didn't think it was possible to have worse service than Sprint, but TMobile (at least in this area) is pitiful compared to Sprint.
Update Needed
Just an FYI the Nexus 5 needs an update to make use of spark. Even with all the bands enabled it will only connect to band 25.

Google will release a n5 firmware update this quarter we have been told, you have no control over this.
In the past it seemed Sprint's objective was to be bought out by another carrier so they tried to expand in under served areas. Now there's rumors of Sprint's new owners wanting to buy out T-mobile.
I connected to band 41 on my nexus for about an hour once then I mucked with the settings and never got it back.

That will NEVER happen.
I'm in the Detroit metro with unofficial LTE. I got LTE on my gnex most everywhere. Different story on this device with the tri band. I can force LTE, but then I can't get texts or phone calls. I did however go a about fifteen miles north last week and LTE was working automatically. I am optimistic it should be working here soon also.

Spark in Dallas
I'm in the Dallas area and have enabled all 3 bands for LTE but don't see anything other than band 25 on my N5. I've changed the priority and all that jazz but nothing changes.
Major disappointment as I got this phone for the tri-band service that was supposed to be so awesome.
I really hope the firmware update this quarter is a real thing and I hope they hurry up with it. Tired of the terrible reception and LTE speeds in and around Dallas. My wife has the S4 and she gets better LTE coverage and speeds than my N5.
I'm in Houston and we have spark here.
As for the N5 no go with all three bands enabled.
I did however get atxt from sprint that says "Over the next month the new network will be largely completed in your area making it better than ever! http://sprint.us/network1 Replay S to stop"
Hit that link and no real info.
Also we have found that the update for the N5 will enable the two extra bands and a new APN. Still trying to get the APN from the Flex since it will be rolling out with Spark enabled. I think that is all we will need but don't quote me on that.
The Nexus 5 and LG G2 are going to get their Spark Updates sometime in the future, hopefully soon.
If you really wanted to take advantage of Spark ASAP, you should have gotten a Samsung Galaxy S 4 Mini, Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3, HTC One Max, or the new model of the Samsung Galaxy S 4 (Model number: SPH-L720T).
For the Nexus and LG G2, I read somewhere that LG was having problems with getting Triband LTE to work properly, but the G2 is supposedly getting their update by the end of this month. That should be a good sign that our Spark update is on the way as well, though the Nexus update needs to be pushed by Google.

So the AT&T Note 4 is locked down pretty good. Is the T-Mobile version the best version to get to use on AT&T for somebody who wants root? It looks like it has all of the HSPA and LTE bands, so it should work perfectly. Are any of the international versions better options than the T-Mobile version?
Or is T-Mobile the best one for AT&T? Thanks.

How do you buy them? Can you just walk into a T-Mobile store and buy one even with no T-Mobile account?

From another thread in q&a:
I bought the phone. It was a bit of a process but easy. You have to have a service plan for them to sell you one. So I signed up for the phone and the cheapest plan they would get me. Then went home and called Tmobile customer care and paid the balance of the phone off. Then went to cellunlocker and got an unlock code. Then for the next day or so I used it on AT&T to make sure it had no problems. Then I called up Tmobile and canceled my plan with them.

I have both AT&T and t mobile note 4. If you want root, you already know what you have to do. The only issue I have ran into is my t mobile version shows up as a blackberry on AT&T network. Took multiple calls to get LTE working correctly. They had to switch my number to a tri band (there verbage not mine) to properly get LTE, even though it still shows up as a RIM device. The fastest LTE I've had in my area is 32mbs with a iPhone next to me getting 64mbs, but also that's not comparing apples to apples (pun intended). But the iPhone also had a stronger radio inside compared to samsung.

Hey Sandman7793, if you dont mind, could you please explain how exactly you got AT&T to make the changes in order for you to get LTE working on your Tmobile Note 4? I mean did you have to speak to multiple reps on the same phone call? Reason I ask is becuase I had a Tmobile Note 3 and was only getting HSPA using AT&T and when I called they gave me a hard time saying that I couldnt get LTE becuase I was using an unlocked device. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks!

Well the trick was I bought the AT&T version of the note 4 before I bought the t-mobile one. So when I called I had my sim card in the AT&T one when I called. Lol. I have my spare note 4 in the drawer just lying around. When I called they was like, do you have a blackberry, I said no, do people actually use those anymore. Since I have my note on the next program they was like OK no problem. Then they said, is your phone for AT&T network, I said it better be because I bought it from you. Then I rebooted the phone so they could hear the AT&T boot up sound. They had me put in a new APN setting, still no LTE (on the AT&T phone at that) so they escalated the case over to someone else and changed a bunch of settings on there end. Then said maybe they had LTE issues in my area, I said nope I have a iPhone sitting next to me with full LTE. By the time I hung up, the AT&T note 4 had zero LTE and the t-mobile had full LTE, which still till this day I have no clue how that worked out. It still shows a blackberry on my account, but here was my speed earlier so it don't matter to me what the show.

I went to change my data plan today, finally giving up Unlimited because it was $50 cheaper to go Mobile Share route. In the process I noticed my new TM Note 4 showed up as a Blackberry 7100 and during the online plan change it wouldn't let me do it saying something about an incompatible phone. I reloaded the Sim back in my Note 2, called CS, had then change the plan and of course it now shows a "Smartphone" for my Note 2.
So, I suppose as soon as I change me SIM back to the Note 4 it'll send them the IMEI and change the phone designation back to Blackberry, thusly kicking me off LTE.
Can other enlighten me as what steps to take when/if that happens? Since it's a Note 2, not Note 4, I can't take the approach quite the same as the OP.
What to do? Anyone?

Mine shows as a blackberry also, but after they activated tri-band on my account for my line, all is good with full service.
AT&T used to have two places to store imei. One is dynamic and shows device that is currently on their network and the other is somewhere permanently in the database and is imei used to register account. Second (permanent) one determines whether you get LTE. It was like that year ago when I parted with post paid plans. May be they changed it since. So you must make them replace the permanent db imei to get LTE. Best way to do it is to call them with valid AT&T LTE capable device imei and tell them that it's what you use now.

I run my T-Mobile Note 4 on "Cricket Wireless" which uses AT&T towers w/ a reduced cost (based on your needs of course).. Data, ect...
Very pleased & things work 100%!
I even figured out how to 'edit' build.prop per the "Root & Recovery" thread to give me official "cricket" initial confirmation readout in status upon waking phone along with AT&T tower indicators as opposed to T-Mobile's!
I bet Hotspot will not work on ATT when you use T-mobile phone.

Hotspot works great. Actually It works even better, becuase ATT can't track the usage on a Tmobile phone so even without root or doing anything special the wifi hotspot works right out of the box.

Experiencing same thing, brand new T-Mo N6.....subd for more info
Same thing is happening to me. I've tested my phone on both T-Mobile and Verizon; same thing happens. I'm getting similar signal strength to a MotoX (2nd gen) on Verizon as well. However, in my battery stats, it's a blood bath. I have only gotten it to go green for a slither of that.
Seems typical for a Nexus. Nexus 5 did/does the same thing and it was never fixed.
I'm having the same issue but on ATT.
Exact same issue. I'm on Verizon. I was just thinking of posting the same thing, so thanks for jumping on this.
What's weird is that my N6 will show good signal in my room, but often times when I try to call someone, I hear no ringing and the call does not connect. A minute later, it will show that I have no signal.
I ran into another similar issue at the mall the other day. It was showing that I had good signal (LTE), but try as I might I couldn't get any webpages to load. Initially I thought it might have something to do with how many people were at the mall (this was on Black Friday), but I borrowed my dad's Moto X (also on Verizon) and had no problems loading webpages instantly. At this point, not sure if I have a defective unit, or do all N6 have this issue.
My second n6 first one had this issue and T-Mobile did trouble shooting the told me to exchange it. Second one not much better. Right now have no signal and have to switch it to 2g for calls WiFi for data.
I wonder if this has anything to do with the initial setup. When I receive my Nexus 6 on Thursday I'm going to put my existing Verizon Sim card in before even booting the phone up for the first time. Not sure if it makes any difference here..... Our if any of you have tried a factory reset?

Same type of thing on Sprint. Sometimes after a reboot it re activates and takes like 5 Mins. But signal jumps in and out often.

I have performed a full factory reset (back to stock, flashed stock images, etc.); still doesn't make a difference.
Hmmm.... Well hopefully a software update will fix it. I seem to remember the Nexus 5 getting am update that fixed some Sprint signal issues.

don't know if this will help, but... when i received my N6 the Cellular Network Setting (Settings->More->Celluar Network->Preferred Network Type) was set to Global and battery stats indicated i had poor signal (and occasionally it was bad.) i changed the setting to LTE (recommended) and signal was better and battery stats showed a good signal (e.g., no more red/orange) throughout the day

I have tried both Global and LTE; neither seem to behave differently on Verizon. I'm actually RMA'ing my N6 in hopes that its hardware.
I just got my N6 from the GPS and activated on Verizon last night. Same thing with the signal going in and out without moving at all. Really odd, never had a phone do this. It shows signal more often, than not, but I am having the same problem....
There are a few threads on this from various carriers. This is the first I've seen people with VZW chiming in. It's definitely something with the N6, and if it's hardware then it needs to be recalled with that many people having this issue. My thoughts are its software. Could be a settings issue too, but I've tried various APNs. Tmo told me to call CS, but since I don't have another phone to call from I'll probably go into a store. They won't fix it though, even a replacement won't. Someone's already tried to work with CS and got a replacement that had the same issue. I also had another N6 from Moto's store that I returned, which had the same issue.

I'm RMA'ing my N6 from Google. Doubt it will be fixed though.
However, I think it's something on Verizon's end; I feel like it might be related to the N6 not being sold by Verizon yet, and when it is officially sold by Verizon, these issues will lessen. I've seen plenty of people say this phone gets superior reception. I'm positive it's Verizon's fault.
Same issue as everyone else - on T-Mobile. I only have the issue on LTE, though. The ASU bumps up to 99 every few minutes and then drops back down. No such problem on 3G.

In an early post you said you tested on VZW and TMO and had the same issue...but you think it's something on VZW end? The only issue I think VZW customers will encounter is voice and data working at the same time, until they update it. The signal issue is happening on all carriers. Maybe not to everyone, but more than enough for there to be an issue that can't be cast at the carriers imo.

I think it's happening more on Verizon. People I've talked to who have this issue tend to be on Verizon.
So I'm new to tmobile (3rd day on the network), I'm coming from verizon. I'm trying to figure out why in my home I get miserable LTE speeds, despite having full LTE signal. Just down the road I get speeds close to 60 down so I know this isn't standard speeds...
I'm in Columbus, Ohio. Still well within my 14 day trial so I'm putting my phone to the test to make sure I really want to stay with tmobile. I should note that I didn't have consistent LTE, especially not full signal, until I installed the LTE signal booster.

Same here. Lte but feels pretty slow
Also came from verizon (was a vzw corp employee for 10 yrs in phx) and switched to t-mo, at home i get full LTE bars, but speeds remain slower than AWS speeds we keep seeing in atlanta and NYC from t-mo.
I get 12, the best i ever got was 22mbps
Tforce is looking into my issue. I'm starting to wonder if there's something wrong with my local tower. It doesn't matter if I'm inside or out, I can have full lte signal and get speeds ranging from .50 to 5. Really frustrating but even if I don't see improved speeds I'll probably stick with them, I miss unlimited data that much.

A signal Booster will not give you faster speeds, and having full signal does not necessarily mean you should be getting high speeds.

Then what exactly would be the point of a signal booster and showing a signal? Tforce seemed to think it was an issue...

Reception. It can help with calls, but higher signal does not mean better data speeds. I've been able to put over 20 down with 1 or 2 bars. Then only 8 with 3-5 bars. There's more to it. T-mobile can look into it and see if there are other factors involved. Also make sure you are on latest firmware

I understand that but .50 mbps download speed, sometimes less, with ANY LTE signal, isn't acceptable. If that's the towers speed of LTE then they might as well drop that signal and let me run off 4g.

Right there's no doubt something is wrong, just saying that bars won't make a difference. You can run off 4g if you select it, is your speed better?

It's sometimes better, sometimes right around the same speed. It's so weird because every once in a while I'll actually get decent lte speeds.. Although it's very rare... For now I have just given up worrying about it until I hear from tforce, my WiFi is more than fast enough (what I was using with Verizon anyway since I didn't have unlimited). I just would like to stay on lte at all times, just a preference of mine. I work today, first time since switching over, so hopefully I don't have issues there and I'll probably stay with T-Mobile. As long as calls work at home I can live with running off my WiFi.

Signal bars nowadays don't necessarily mean that's the Data strength. That would be your voice signal strength on that particular device no longer meaning that is the signal strength for that data type.
Sent from my Nexus 5
I'm actually beginning to wonder if it's the phone. I was at a local chipotle and tested inside the store and was getting the dreaded .10.. I restarted and tested again and was getting 50mbps.. Pretty significant difference needless to say lol.

the problem is band 12 it only has 5mhz of bandwidth i turned it off with *#2263# menu to only band 4 and speeds went from 2/6 to 20/14
But that’s just me it really depends on the area you live in

This Pixel 7 is the first 5G capable phone I have owned. The 5G is so slow as to be unusable. I am in middle Tennessee and RedPocket is my provider, using the AT&T network. I have disabled 5G and my speed/connection is very good.
When 5G is enabled I do have a strong signal according to the signal meter icon. But pages load in "spurts". The browser will take several seconds to make the initial connection and then as the page loads it will pause while more data is downloaded. Using 4G pages load very quickly.
Is this because I'm using a MVNO (RedPocket) or is something else going on?

It could be either or both. MVNOs are de-prioritized which, depending on the network traffic where you are, could mean terrible speeds or speeds just as good as the provider's tier one post-pay accounts.
I, too, am new to 5G and using Boost (an AT&T MVNO) until the trial period runs out and I move to Mint (TMO). My 5G performance is fine; it's not faster or slower than the exact same 4G service from my Pixel 3.
I'm going to give Tello Mobile a try. They use the Tmobile network. I will report back.
I got activated with Tello using an esim. I've only used them a few minutes but everything looks good so far.
The issue with AT&T is that they don't use all of their brands for 5G so LTE can be much faster than 5G. T-Mobile has crazy good 5G speeds if you live where they have midband. I have Tello as well as SafeLink on AT&T and I have found that AT&T has better latency, T-Mobile has much better speeds, and AT&T tends to have the stronger signal in the Denver area as well.
I use my SafeLink pSIM for data and the Tello eSIM for everything else usually.
This was on my drive home over the weekend, going through Joplin, MO. Not too bad in a larger city. My P6 didn't hit 100 down just 2 weeks ago at the same spot.

No problems here, with Cosmote carrier in Greece.
I would raise the issue of low speeds with my carrier
Apparently there was an update needed, my speed on the AT&T network is now as expected. I did not change anything (that I know of). I'm going to stick with RedPocket rather than Tello due to better coverage in my area with AT&T.

Indeed. But 1Gbit in the air, is fine for me.
Just got the pixel 7 and my 5G is all over the place. I get 1 bar 5G UC, indicating poor signal but will go to full bars from time to time. Whats weird is that if i make a call or receive a call it will jump to full bars. If i switch from wifi to mobile or restart the phone it will give me full bars and drop to 1 bar soon after.
I've called tmobile and they had me upgrade to a new 5G sim but it didnt fix anything. My previous phone was OnePlus 8t 5G and had no issues with 5G. All other 5g phones at home get full bars, the tmobile tower is about 50 yards from my home.
Thinking about returning the phone and keeping the One Plus until Pixel 8 or until Pixel 7 issues are sorted out. I might try to get another Pixel 7 sent to me try out. This P7 has a August build date, maybe a more recent build will not have this issue.
After my Tello experiment my AT&T started working reliably. I would say give it a day and see if it gets sorted out.

Is your service usable? Are your speeds acceptable? Bars mean nothing. We really should get rid of them in favor of something that just shows whether you have a network connection or not because these days with multiple carrier aggregation, bars are never correct.

Boost was Sprint, which has been swallowed up by T-Mobile and that CDMA network shut down. At this point Boost is T-Mobile, not ATT. If the phone you purchased was factory unlocked then you have been using 5G since day one, unless it defaults to 4G. If the phone is ATT phone then you would be better served by Cricket which uses the ATT network. Since you have a Google device why not go with Google Fi their plans are nominally priced. Although when they first started offering service they were trying to be something for everyone by using all gsm services. Most coverage is by T-MOBILE today.

Boost offers AT&T as well...
If you order from www.boostmobile.com it is T-Mobile. If you order from my.boostmobile.com or deals.boostmobile.com, it is AT&T. You can also tell by your SIM card - if it's orange or white, it's T-Mobile. If it's black, it's AT&T.
Boost's AT&T SIM even has one of the best deals around right now - 30GB for $25 a month with no need to buy multiple months and unlimited at 512kbps after that (which is actually usable). They even have an app that lets you watch ads and spin the prize wheel each day towards free service plus third party offers like installing and playing games. I've already racked up $38 worth of bill credits since I signed up on the 27th.

It's weird that so many have reported this while so many of us have reported we don't have that problem. I have tried the phone on three different networks and have been pleased with the modem. I have the Pro though, maybe there's something different with the reception although I've seen complaints about it too.
I'm pulling almost 1200 mbps on TMobile by my house on p7.
I turned off 5G altogether and just use LTE because I was having intermittent data connection issues. I haven't had any connection issues since turning 5G off. Sucks but it is what it is, I guess. I'm on T-Mobile in a high 5G area as well.
AT&T may throttle your provider speed during peak time...test the area at different time of the day and see...why own this phone and use 4G or LTE...it almost a sin
