I'm posting here because the tablet i'm looking at is a Telcast, this one (http://www.banggood.com/Teclast-Tbo...Inch-IPS-Screen-Dual-OS-Tablet-p-1076984.html) and my question is about the dual boot. Is it possible to augment a larger amount of rom to the android side. I seen pics of the storage for this unit and only 8 gb is allotted for the android side out of 64 on board. I would mainly be using the android side for most applications anyway. Any answers are welcome. Thanks.
My daily driver is a AT&T Samsung Tab S 10.1.

With the rise of smartphones our phones are pretty much just miniature computers with phone capabilities.
However with computers, you can easily modify the specs.
Like if my old computer is running slow I can buy an extra gig of ram, stick it in and it's fast again.
So I'm just wondering are hardware modifications possible with phones too?
I ask this because paying 50-100 bucks for an extra gig of ram is easier than paying 600-700 bucks for an entire new phone.
And let's say for example that the multitasking dual window thing from the Galaxy Note 2 DOES get ported to the Note 1 when Samsung release a TW JB rom in December or something.
But because the Note 2 has twice as much available ram than we do, are we practically able to use that multitasking feature at all?
It is not possible as far as i know.try to keep happy yourself in dis ram buddy

As of now, hardware mod is almost not possible & even if it does, it will cost you a lot (also there is risk involved)..
There is an App in the market which helps to increase the virtual memory upto 4GB..ROEHSOFT RAM-EXPANDER (SWAP)..but I am not sure how far it is effective..u can first try the 2nd link:

I've hard bricked several devices playing with swap partitions. If you're not comfortable unbricking your device without any guides, don't even touch virtual memory apps.
Apple innovates and Samsung copies, huh? Tell that to my Galaxy Note.
So. I'm currently running a CM10 Galaxy Note (which I only recently upgraded from CM9 and I have to say, the difference is awesome.)
I bought a Nexus 7 a little while ago, and I was thinking about waiting for a Nexus 4 to replace the Note. However, with the instant sellout of the Nexus 4 and the concerns about a few aspects (performance, throttling, durability, etc. etc.) I am considering other options. As of now, they are:
Note 2:
+ Size, Processor, RAM, Storage Capacity (already own 64gb micro sd card in current note)
- Price (will be approximately £200 to upgrade)
HTC One X
+ Size (still a decent sized screen, at least compared to Nexus 4), Processor, Price (approximately £50 to upgrade)
- Only 1 GB RAM, No external SD
Nexus 4:
+ Processor, RAM, Android Update Support, Price (approximately £100 to upgrade)
- Screen size, Questions about quality issues, lack of supply means value of Note will drop as I wait to purchase, No external SD
Galaxy S3
+ Size (bigger screen than the non-Notes), Processor, RAM, Developer Support, Storage space (SD card)
- Price (approximately £100-150 to upgrade)
What would you do? The fear is that the longer we go, the more the value of the note will drop. The values of all the others will drop, whilst the Nexus most likely won't.
All input welcomed!
Install VoIP software on the Nexus 7, e.g. CSIPSimple, and get an account with some provider. Three allow VoIP on their data SIMs.
Oh. It's wifi only. Not that this inherently a massive problem but it does limit its usefulness somewhat. But thanks for the suggestion. ^_^
And I still have a contract with my note, so this is why I am not simply signing a new contract to get one of the phones above. Should have mentioned. Sorry.

You guys have lost me completely !
I'd not go with the Note2, as there is no official CM support for the device(a deal-breaker,at least for me)
Neither the Galaxy S3 bcoz it will be old and you'll get the itch to upgrade as soon as the S4 comes out (oh, and that won't have official CM support too if it uses Exynos)
Nexus 4 - No idea, I don't care about a phone that has only 8 to 16 GB of memory no matter how good its other specs are.(Come to India and check out 3G data prices, you'll see why)
HTC 1 X - Still no memory but at least there is a 32GB option available ( although if the 64 GB card is anything to go by, it will be less for you....and me too ).But I guess you can use 4G for your data needs(I heard the carriers in UK were rolling out 4G soon).
My advice would to be wait it out with the Note and see what the next year brings to the table.Sony is releasing the Xperia Yuga and Odin models with 1080p screens.Check them out.HTC is also coming out with a 1080p phone. All of these are practically guaranteed to come with the S4 Pro so they will get official CM support.I'd go with Sony, seeing as it is XDA's top OEM of the year 2012.
Just to make it clear, I'm not a Sony fan as I've never bought a Sony phone in the past.
Hey all,
I'm due for my upgrade next month, and I'm stuck between the X and the S4. From a hardware and software perspective, the X wins hands-down (I love my Nexus 7 and the X is the closest thing I can get on VZW). My main hesitation is storage space, or lack thereof, which is why I'm considering the S4 with its microSD slot; I like to have options. Do you have any storage issues, and how do you manage it? I need to keep about 1.5 gigs of stoage space for an app that I use at work that have to be on the device, otherwise a little music and pictures (maybe 2g). Ideas?
I'm having very similar concerns. I know I can't make it on 16GB alone so I will wait on either the Moto Maker site to go live for Verizon (in which case we should have the option for 32GB), or wait for the Nexus 5 which should come out (hopefully) around the same time. Also, around that time we should see a price decrease along with the option for a hard-wood back (I think they're pretty sexy). I've currently got an S3 with 32GB and a 64GB micro SD card, which I don't utilize nearly as much as I could, I just like knowing the space is there.

Hey!
So, it's been a while since I've been active here or with Android for that matter. My old phone finally gave up after four years of constant (ab)use. Am looking to pick up a new phone and since I've lost touch a bit, some pointers would help. Here's what I'd like to see,
ARM CPU. No Intel x86 devices.
~200$ unlocked. Lower the better.
2-3GB RAM. 4GB would be great but minimum 2GB.
Active custom ROM development. More the merrier.
4G LTE.
High DPI. Don't mind a small screen size though (even 4 inches).
Branded. No fakes/unbranded Chinese. Chinese brands like Xiomi are okay.
What I am asking for can be stretching a bit but it is not unrealistic. I do not understand the justification behind octa-core phones with only 1GB RAM. I would prefer more RAM than more CPU. I am currently looking at Moto G and LG Flex 2 Int'l version but they don't quite cut it.
So, what do you guys think?
I have a nexus 9, but a friend of mine is willing to swap her Samsung tab s2.
I really like the bigger screen and super amoled display, but its not a nexus.... And is a Samsung. So is it worth? Please help.

I'm not an average user, I keep my devices clean, debloated and I'm meticulous about battery management. The nexus 9 is a nice device, with great front facing stereo speakers and timely updates.. But for me it was a nightmare to use due to the slow downs, reloading, refreshing and Chrome was downright unusable. I tried my best to manage the RAM ( 1.5 GB) but it was impossible
Within a month I wanted to smash it against the wall
So I sold it and I got a 9.7 Tab s2 and couldn't be happier. Fast, smooth, even better battery life than the N9 and I dint have to worry about stuff closing down cause RAM is depleted.
Better multitasking, split view, great integration with my Note 5 and my smart Samsung TV. I barely touch my laptop anymore
I'm wondering if it's worth rooting, I have the Tab S2 T710 and am debating rooting. We don't have stable CM or a AOSP due to the Exynos and only option is to optimize TW with root as all I can see. Anyone have feedback as to why they rooted or have not?, I'm really on the fence on this one and generally don't have a problem with a stock Tab...

I don't think rooting your tablet has anything to do with getting a custom rom/boot loader. Since I'm using the stock Samsung with no custom rom and have rooted it just for Adblock.

The only problem the nexus 9 has is the 2Gb of ram and 16gb of storage which is absolutely retarded otherwise it would literally be the best device on the market.
While I would have preferred a new Note 8, the tab 2 is a good tablet.

I have to disagree with you on that. I own 2 Nexus 7 2013 with 2gb of RAM and 16 GB ROM and they run like a dream. It's that damned Tegra chipset that steals 500 MB from the system plus yes for a tablet with a 64 bit system 2 GB of RAM was too little. I owned the 32 GB version so storage wasn't an issue.
