S-Health: Is there a food widget? - T-Mobile Note 7 Questions & Answers

I like the integration between S-Health and the Gear Fit 2 I got through the promo, so I'm starting to look at using S-Health for more. One thing I'd like to do is use it to track my eating.
This may sound silly, but clicking S-Health to open it, then finding the Food icon and clicking that, and then entering my food is kind of a pain in the neck. I was hoping there would be a food widget that I could click to get directly to adding food (kind of like the Steps/Heart Monitor widget), but I can't find one.
Am I missing something, or is it just not there?

I was wishing for this as well. Nothing I could find.
I wish the stock S Health widget, which has steps and heart rate button, could be edited to replace heart rate with a food logging widget.
Sorry I responded without an answer or any actual help, but you're not alone!

Telling me you couldn't find anything either is helpful - it decreases the possibility that I missed something.
I wonder if it'd be possible to build a widget or something using Tasker. I tried to find an action using QuickShortcutMaker but had no luck, but maybe there's something else that's exposed?

Anyone know anything about this program? I looks pretty cool. Maybe you can take a web page and chop it up into a widget. That would be my hopes for it....

Wow, zero replies. Guess its not a very good post.
Looks to simple
Ill give it a try and see how it goes.
So far the web Grabber is not working
"Unable to clip content"
Still trying More.
Looks like an easy way for someone to rip off someone else's hard work. Honestly, they even tell you to just copy the code for a widget into it and create an app from it. No mention of intellectual property anywhere.
Yeh pretty much.
Good for people that want website code as an app.
But to be honest its pretty crap...all it does is load a Frame with the webcontent in it.
Here is one i "made" for weather in Perth WA.

It also doesnt make widgets.....it lies..

Wow, that is some brilliant programming you did there, LOL!
Seriously, you are right. For that use it is almost decent (although their ad banner is a bit large). I just created a couple to check my area traffic cams with, much easier than opening the browser and going to the sites.
Could be fun to mess with.
it would actually be cool if it did what it said it does...
ie make Widgets...
But it doesnt..
Yah, i finally got a chance to try it out. Im sure there are some people who might like it. Its not what i had in mind though. I really need something that will display web content via a widget. Not an app, thats for sure.
I agree that it doesn't do as advertised, but it can really be handy. Just created an "app" for my favorite streaming radio station. Another for Hulu. It works really well!

Great Radon,
Im glad you found a use for it. Im sure i can figure something out for it. What I really want is a widget for Yahoo Sports. It would be nice to have the scores and news all on one widget.
Hi guys,
My name is Andrew, I'm CMO at AppsGeyser.
roguey, I really can't find where you saw that we talked about making widgets for mobile? Please point me.
we convert web widgets to apps, but we don't make mobile widgets. We do not offer anything that we are not really able to do, that's no any sense to start business on lie.
Our platform is not for someone who can use Eclipse and make an app for Android. We help those who have a website and barely or strong enough know HTML. You can quickly build an app. Some users use our platform to build proof of concept. Some just wrap up website and have great results, we constantly publish case studies on our blog.
nunjabusiness, we care about IP and sure we have a mention in our terms that users have to have all required copyright on all content they submit. If we have abuse from legal content owner we are shutting down the app.

You are correct, it was the OP that said it, and i assumed it was what it said on the website.
That is my fault. I take it back.
Anyway you can make it do widgets?
That would make it 500 times better!!.

Hi Andrew, welcome.
Yes, I did eventually read the T&C and see that you covered that. That is good. Problem I had is that IE9 really doesn't like your site and until I used Firefox I wasn't even able to get started in the creation process to see the T&C. Maybe put a small disclaimer on the main page?
Roguey, sorry but it is a WAY different process to widgetize an app. What they are offering is the opposite, which I honestly can't see any real value in at this point. I (and thousands of other people) would also like this ability and if it were easy, there would already be a way to do it. My understanding is that it is almost as difficult as writing the whole app from scratch.
I do, however, like the ability to turn a website into an "app" even though I could not get the engine to clip anything of value. I was limited to whole sites only for some reason. I am sure it is website-specific and the way the page is set up may keep them from properly capturing the part of the page I want.
It doesnt matter if its a different process.
Its possible, they just need the time do it...
Hi roquey,
Thanks for this brilliant idea, we'll definitely consider it.
What content you wanted to see as a widget?

I would like the abilty to make my own widget to show weather, ie capture a frame from a weather site. Have the option to Have the widget refresh from the net every 15 minutes - hourly, depending on what you want.
Its pretty endless really, Basiclly what your app does now but show it in widget form.
Prob keep the widget size to 4*2 in size, or if u can let the user choose, depending on the size of the frame that is needed to be captured.
There are already more than enough weather widgets, IMHO.
However, a resizable widget that will display (and auto-update) a definable segment of a web page is absolutely something I would pay money for.
Web Clip Widget Trial claims to do this, but I cannot get it to actually display any pages for me yet.
Andrew - It seems to me (a non-programmer) that embedding a webview with the webkit browser engine should be pretty easily doable. The key I think is to be able to snip a section of the page to display with no extraneous graphical elements.
I found this example code http://mobile.tutsplus.com/tutorials/android/android-sdk-embed-a-webview-with-the-webkit-engine/ in fact, I found a ton of tutorials to show how a developer would do this ... but no actual downloadable widget to accomplish it.
From what I can gather, you usually call webview with a specific url to display something in the app so I guess the hardest part would be making an interface to pass that info to the widget and then refresh on interval.
+1 for web clipping widget.....that works.
nunjabusiness
And it matters that there are lots of Weather widgets because???
That would be what i would use it for...i know tons of websites that **** all over fancy widget and the like.
It wouldnt be just weather widgets aswelll...

It uses sort of a hands free function: you can use your hand as a wave gesture to swipe pages horizontal/vertically, it has a feature that if you look away from a video it will automatically pause, etc.
Sounds like a useless gimmick. My Evo 3D had an overly sensitive screen, didn't always have to touch the screen, just be close, and it detected touch. It was pretty annoying.

Lol it was more of a flaw... It was never intended to be like that but it would randomly register touches from your finger before you touched the screen.

If it did you wouldn't want it. The accuracy required to make these gestures reliable is way beyond the technology the S4 has in it, which is why reviewers say it's a gimmick. It either triggers when you don't want it, or doesn't when you do. You'd need something like a Kinect strapped to the top of your phone to really pull that off. The battery drain alone would be devastating.
Add in it likely won't function on any ported ROM or new versions of android. It will be very similar to the 3D where the drivers and other needed stuff won't be available to make it work. One reason I avoided Samsung.
Sent from The ONE using xda premium
the S4 has a specific sensor just to the right of the earpiece speaker for the air gestures. its not as accurate as they make it seem just like the eye tracking isnt very good either. like previously stated its a gimmick. your average consumer is WOWED by stupid crap like that. i felt like an idiot swiping my hand in front of the phone and when using eye scrolling you have to physically tilt your head up and down. all the phone is doing is tracking the movement of your head and using your eyes as a focal point to base amount of movement off of. not to mention you cant be more than a foot or two from the sensor. if you wear glasses like me its really a pain. i guess the reflection in the lenses of the glasses makes it react funny. ive only played with the s4 for a couple days when ive been at my store but all in all im not impressed. im wondering if it will gradually learn your personal body movements and become more accurate. it seems like they took an S3 made the viewing area slightly bigger, new camera, and stupid gesture sensor. if it worked as well as Tony Starks stuff it might be worth playing with lol. even then though its not practical its just something that looks neat when you can get it to work. you can also use Svoice from the lock screen so say you name your phone then hold home key say name so svoice will launch then you say name again to start a command. the ability to launch from lock screen makes me wonder if it will have security issues like the S3 did. i also feel like me having to address the device twice in a row is dumb. i should say "S4 call ...." or "S4 launch ...." not say "s4" wait for svoice "S4 call...." or "S4" wait a few secs "S4 launch...." again i felt like an idiot standing there making swipes and repeatedly saying "S4..." thats just what i named the one at our store. i like google now bc i launch it then say "google" it beeps i say "search target.com for..." and it goes. i wish it worked better as a launcher for apps or taking appointments, sending emails, texts, ect.. i will say svoice has that going for it.
in the end im still holding out for black 64gb HTC One. im getting ready to make a sacrifice to cellphone gods if i dont hear something official soon.

Seems like more of a headache than it's worth trying to get it on the HTC One.

Not ready for primetime

Pretty disappointed after picking up my gear last week. I'm going to give it a month before I dump mine for sale if they don't start putting out useful apps for it. Seems like half the stuff is pushed out with bugs and semi working or not working at all. Half the apps in the store (gee there really isn't much) hang on install, fail to work correctly or are just junk that you don't need. Is it really that hard to offer an app that would let you read your full email body on it, or an app that would give you facebook updates on it without reading them on the phone, or a watch making app that actually tells time and doesn't lock up 4 times a day? Samsung should just change its name to the Galaxy gear beta edition. I understand the 30% return rate on them now after owning one.

I don't really get where people find the time and energy to post like this. Get a refund and move on with your life, already.
The galaxy gear is awesome (and so is the pebble, the sony smartwatch, etc. Can't wait to see what Google and Apple do)
Samsung has really knocked this out of the park and showed us the potential of wearables - probably better than anyone - and how they're so obviously going to be the future.
Samsung has been innovating incredibly well lately. I really hope Microsoft/Google/Apple up their game and keep up!
Well...it is indeed lacking a lot of features that should be there right out of the box but I am sure you have done your research before you bought the watch. I did do my research and I am quite happy with the watch. I wouldn't buy it at $300 but at $210 with tmobile discount 30% off, this is not a bad buy at all.
I never once had a problem with installing apps from Samsung app store. Their selection is really small and apps are not that great but it never hang or fail to install for me. You can also sideload apps as long as they don't require access to internet if you don't mind some extra steps of installing.
Reading email would be a nice thing but I don't see myself using the tiny screen to read email. I would rather want to do it on the phone.
Facebook update sure would be nice.
Never lock up 4 times a day but then I don't use watch styler app or custom face.
Also please try the ATN app. It helps with all the notifications that I need the watch to show such as whatsapp and whatever others app you might need.
Could it be better ? Sure. Will it get better? Of coarse it will !
There's nothing BETA about it, its simply a new consumer product which hasn't boomed yet.. once the developers gain interest you can bet your ass your going to see some amazing stuff from the gear.
Anything Samsung related on the watch works extremely well, could they have included additional features sure. But why would they ? Its a Samsung device providing support with Samsung products/applications straight out of the box.
All the things listed can be easily resolved via software updates, or third party software. Eg. ATN.
Any complaint you have about the gear will have the same complaubt about the new sony smart watch. Its new. Do your homework before you buy something.

Eh, I love mine (got the 30% off deal) but I agree with the OP and am disappointed with the small amount of apps in the Samsung store... and at least half of it is junk. A big reason for that is because Samsung is being weird about releasing the SDK to the public, I wish they'd get on with that soon. Though I think (I hope) the situation will get a lot better soon when they release official updates for S3, S4, Note2 to make them compatible with the Gear.
I have to disagree with the OP. The gear is amazing. I don't have problems installing apps and I think some of them are pretty good like watch styler. The only thing I don't like about the gear is that it doesn't show notifications for third party apps and I hope Samsung releases an update enabling notifications for all apps.

I love my Gear.
Has all the Apps I want.
Anybody that takes the time to find this forum should know,
You do not have to get all the Apps from the Samsung Store.
A member of XDA has a solution for notifications, many people use it and like it.
Do not know about facebook, could care less about facebook.
Sounds like the OP thinks the device replaces a smartphone,
A smartwatch tells you at a glance if the message you get is worth pulling your smartphone out.
Who other than the OP, has every had any problems with the Gear Locking up?
Who other than the OP can not find a way to tell time with the Gear?

Every review is the same.. so so on it. Return rate is high also. The few that love them, great, tinker away with yours. When I can read my 3rd party apps emails, pick from 100s and 100s of apps maybe Ill dig it. Till then its a beta toy as far as im concerned. i knew it when i got it just didnt expect it to be this crappy I guess.
I'd like to know how many of the returned watches are due to either people not usually wearing a watch or because it wasn't compatible with their device
I've not had any of the problems mentioned here (mind, I didn't use watchstyler). Mic and speaker seem fine to me
Hardly any apps these days mention what has changed between versions so can't see that being a negative. Having to reset every time there is an update sucks though (however, the restore thing seems to go ok for the most part)
I just want my notifications to give more detail - mms to show pic, email to display html, sms/facebook/etc not be limited by character limit. It's all very possible going on the evidence
Couldn't care less about apps. Good to be able to sideload though

I'm loving my gear but can also appreciate where the OP is coming from. In the main I think the gear lives up to its expectations ax far as I am concerned.
The biggest issue I have is the lack of water resistance, and how it handles facebook notifications. I am hoping though that this thing gets better as time moves along. It does worry me however that work on the Gear 2 will already have started and we will end up with a non supported device quite quickly.

Seems like you got a beef with the apps. Not the phone. You keep talking about bad apps, or not enough apps. Well they were selling out in my area, and I got mine on discount. Found out they were selling fast on Ebay. Purchased a couple more at discount, sold them for a profit. It seems like a lot of people think differently than you. We all understand this is a FIRST, you didn't expect this to first run to be PERFECT did you...
BTW, I am a layman, don't know JACK-CHIT, to be honest. I got the Note 3 on a humble, and since I was way over my head with the Note 3, I might as well go all the way..Got the Gear at $209.. Happy Camper...

Glass Home on Gear with null ROM

Hey folks,
I thought it would be interesting to see whether the Glass Home launcher and its companion apps would work on the Gear - FYI the APKs I'm playing with are the XE7 ones at zhuowei's github site, although I note that Google have now posted the XE11 image at developers.google.com/glass/tools-downloads/system
I was pleasantly surprised to find that the launcher loaded up, recognised my "ok glass" voice command, and managed to go off and do the right thing when I asked it to "google how tall is the eiffel tower?"
However it seems to be unhappy about a few things (lots of FCs) - in particular the lack of WiFi on the Gear, believing that the device is offline even when it's actually tethered to my phone via Bluetooth, and the camera didn't work for me.
Anyone else got "Glass on Gear" experiences to share?
Cheers,
Martin
Good idea. Will be interesting to find out what needs to done
I do however feel my watch is a lot more useful than Glass (apart from lack of gps/wifi)
Provide some links I want to see this launcher etc.
Sorry, I'm a newbie so my ability to post links is somewhat limited. Let's see if this works... github.com/zhuowei/Xenologer
I think it's going to be a great way of getting a forward look at what to expect with Glass - and the Nexus watch And heck, we may well have the proper Glass SDK before Samsung release one for the Gear...
The UI is reasonably navigable using voice and swiping the touch screen. The Glass fonts work well on the small screen size, unlike say stock Android apps running under Nova or the Google Experience Launcher. Glass Home doesn't know about your non-Glass apps, though, which is understandable if a little disappointing.

The launcher on the otherhand could be interesting.,,
Contact handling on glass is weird. You need contacts in your gmail account, then need to add individual contact to glass manually via app/website

Oh.. Yikes.
Staying away from that !
I'm working on poking through the Glass launcher and companion files to see if I can find anything. I tried to change the DPI so all of the text fits on the display because it cuts off most of the text, but it doesn't seem to cooperate.
Video demo of Glass on Gear
And here's a nice little video (1 minute) that I made demonstrating the Glass launcher on the Gear:
You can also read a bit more about my experiences hacking around on the Galaxy Gear on my blog at martinh dot net.
Happy hacking!
That is awesome.

The idea is excellent, although there's other factors to consider.. tethering always being active is going to be a battery drainer, along with the launcher constantly listening for commands..
Interesting thread... Looking forward to more updates on this... If I can get Google Now to work on this device paired without rooting the phone, Google Glass sounds pretty darn cool

It's also a bit clunky in that you have to swipe down to go back to the "ok glass" prompt, unless there is a voice shortcut that I've missed. It would be great to go totally handsfree with this, but shaking your wrist doesn't have an analogous effect to nodding your head when wearing Glass.
Oh, and the Bluetooth tethering is a bit flaky and tends to come unstuck after you have done three or four searches - going to look into the automatic reconnection thread when I get a few spare cycles

You can run the Google Experience Launcher from Kit-Kat, which will give you the "leftmost home screen is Google Now" feature. If you choose US language and download the offline speech recognition pack then you should find that the mic is permanently active too
Does that still allow me to get notifications pushed to the watch?

I am going to be testing glass with a bare bones rom now. Hopefully it will be nice
sent from my Note 3 or Galaxy Gear
Cant get it to work at all

Me neither

Nice work!
The only way to go back using glass is to swipe down
Sounds like motion sensors are handled differently on each device (possibly Samsung propriety on the gear?)
What settings are shown in the settings screen? Is it only 'google' phrase that works? I think take picture and record are default on glass without need for app. Contact related stuff requires adding manually via app

Intellicom WatchFaces

Am playing with Intellicom WatchFaces (no affiliation ) and I love it! Almost all WatchFaces have an "oled compatible" ambient mode and look great on the LG.
Didn't know the program till today and I'm also using facer and watchmaker but with those it was a hit and miss with lg r friendly ambient modes.
You can try it for free.
Let me know what you think of it.
Haha, reading the text I wrote it feels like an advertisement but I'm just sharing my enthusiasm
I agree. Been using Intellicom WatchFaces for a little bit now and find it easy and intuitive. It could use a few tweaks and fixes but so far it works very well.
Also get Facer and Watchmaker. Having all 3 allows you to get the best of the best.
I have all three and I would agree that Intellicom is the best. On a side note, I got this watch for Christmas and gave my pebble to one of my sons. Don't miss the pebble in the least. I did have to download "Vibration Notification"app so that I could feel my work email/appointment notifications more easily. Battery is usually between 25 and 40% when I go to bed so I'm happy.
It's the best atm for me too.
PUJIE APP
i use this one. Is great

Currently switching between these (the ones from creator Tuwak):

They look amazing on the LG.

When it says OLED compatible, that mean it changes places every minute the watch?

If the watch is in ambient mode the picture will shift, no matter what's on it.
With OLED compatible I mean two things:
1. Not to bright parts in ambient mode.
2. The ambient mode consists of mostly "thin parts", so when shifting the pixels will shift to black.
If you don't understand my excellent explanation , just check the burn-in threat in the general forum.
Based on the feedback from this thread I downloaded, tested and purchased this app. I've built what I consider to be the most useful and battery friendly watch face as it doesn't use white/blue colours (red and green LEDs use less power) and I'm getting 3% battery drain per hour.
If anyone has paid for the app, please consider downloading my watch face (battery epicness) from the gallery. It's not perfect just yet and I'm already on a v2 which removes some of the tiny issues (the word Wednesday was slightly out of the screen) and for anyone who wants a good mixture of useful info and battery savings this is a must.
If anyone would like me to share the v2 which is slightly better then please let me know.
Sure. Please kindly do share. I'm also heavily invested in Intellicom Watch Face and have what I consider an awesome looking face on at the moment...black background, with red and grey indicator colouring for time, date, day, battery level, month...
Please can you share a direct link to the app on Play? I can't find it by searching...

If searching for Intellicom Watch Face doesn't bring any results then it's probably not available in your country.
If you do happen to find it, you can gain access to the watch gallery once you've paid for the in-app purchase.
I am unable to find the download button in the gallery on my Note 4, I did purchase the premium. I looked in the FAQ section for the Intellicom app and found the alternate url but I still do not see a download button. If I go to it on my computer I do see it but if I download it on my computer how do I go about getting it on my phone to my watch? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
Nevermind, I realized I could email a the file to myself and it automatically launches the app. Hope they get the app for the phone fixed as it's a little annoying to have to go through a computer and email it to myself.
Sorry for all the posts but quick update. I emailed them yesterday and they got the issue fixed, now you can download within the app. Nice to see they are on top of things.
Hi,
i've bought many faces apps (pujie, facer, intellicom, watchmaker etc...), but watchmaker is best for me

Check these out. Unzip the files to use all the hands, backgrounds etc.

I retired my G Watch and got the R a couple days ago and I am loving it. I'm also using Intellicom but this one is always a fallback one for me when I am outside and active. Looks great on both my watches and t's always very easy to see.

I love Intellicom. I just downloaded it, modified an existing one and uploaded it via their page.

I bought the premium app but after I flashed my phone I couldn't find it on google play no more. Does any one has the apk that wants to share it? Thanks.
