Been getting a message whenever I try to record videos saying "an error has occurred".
Specifically:

2) looks like it will record in a second
3) error message pops up

[Q] Camera malfunction

Hi there,
after reading about various topics i decided to root and lagfix my Galaxy.
Nevertheless, i am now experiencing camera issues.
At first, when starting the cam app, the camera was working until i tried to take a photo. When the photo should have been taken, an error message is shown saying "Warning - Camera failure" (in German: "Warnung: Kamerafehler". Not sure it's like that in English).
I was reading about various possibilities and tried to update the cam firmware via entering the code, downloading the most recent fw for the camera and applying it.
Well downloading and installing seemed to have worked, it shows that i need to reboot my phone. So i pull it off and on again in order to reboot it.
When i am entering the camera app now, the Camera wont even preview your current viewing direction, but immediately crashing after some short time with the same error message as above. I cant even press a button, they just dont react before the app crashes.
So the update seems to have screwed up everything.
What can i do now?
regards.

[Q] Camera video (front) on Skype?

I just tried skype for the first time with my Galaxy Exhibit 4G (SGH-T679)
I can make test calls fine, but when I tried talking with a friend on a video call, I kept getting an alert:
"your friend can't see you, press the camera icon to start video"
I press the camera, video doesn't start, and about 2 seconds later, I get the same alert:
"your friend can't see you, press the camera icon to start video"
repeat, repeat...
I am running Peach Sunrise, which is Android 2.3.6.
my skype is V.3.0.0.6181
Anyone know how to use the video (preferable front) with this phone, software?
Thanks,
Drew

Front Camera Crashing

Hi, just received delivery of Moto G 2 Gen. (2014). Tried testing the phone everything works fine except the front camera. When I launch the camera app, I'm able to use the primary camera as usual, but when I try to flip to front cam to use it, the app crashes with error message " Camera Error" "Please restart camera". When I tap Ok and relaunch it, its the same issue again. I tried to clear the app data, force stop it and even factory reset it.
Also tried updating the camera app to the latest update available version 3.3.20.8 but the issue is still there. I tried installing "Retrica" camera app and was able to make the front cam work only for a flash of second and it didn't work again.
Is this a glitch in the camera app or the software build or did I receive a defective device? Please let me know if I have to go for a replacement or shall wait for the software update. Any input or help is appreciated.
Attached a screenshot of the error screen. Thank you.

Front camera working flawless here! Whether your error is a software or a hardware failure is hard to say. My hunch is a software error: the driver of your front camera isn't running well. But as said, that's just hunch! You said you already did a factory reset of the whole device? Maybe you can add a logcat, so some developer can look into it (I'm not so good in reading logcats).
Otherwise I'd return my device and use the warranty to get a replacement!

Doesn't seem normal. I own the device and know 5 people with the same device, none of them have this issue. Get it replaced.
When i got the device (1 month ago) i had a similar problem, i restarted my phone and it had gone, never to appear again
try restarting your phone.
also, since u just got your phone delivered, check if u have a firmware update, since motorola released a firmware update a few months ago

Video recording fail WITHOUT error message

Hi, I have noticed the video recording no longer works.
It stopped right after i clicked on the recording button, with no error message or indication.
Sent back to Huawei Service Centre; and swap a new P9 for me (coz of their special customer service month)
Spent 3 weeks with the device and the same problem occurs on this new device as well. (And the phone is out of warranty now)
Tried saving to Device and SD card, both has more than 10 GB free space to spare but still the same result.
Posted the video on Youtube, Title "Huawei P9 video recording error"
But can't share it here coz I am new here.
Do help and advice me on this.
Thank you.
IF you have any Apps for restoring ringtone after meetings etc., like "Shush" or "Silent Mode+", that's the reason.
I didn't bother testing this with "Silent Mode+" but if you give "Shush" access to Camera (so it can see if it is running or not) Video recording starts working again.
