Hello, I'm kinda newbie at this...
I have an Xperia X8 e15a with manufacturing date 11W11 @ stock kernel, running with GDX v026.
but lately I've noticed that my phone is too slow... even when I get incoming calls, its hard to slide the bar and answer them, so I want to know how can I speed up my phone. I'm thinking of changing the ROM to PrimeHD or other ROM that is faster.
I also think of the possibility of changing to a custom kernel but I'm afraid of bricking it because I remember this phone was from X company and I entered a code on internet and now it works for Y company, so I don't know if thats a real SIM unlock (bootloader unlocking says the phone must be sim unlocked). Oh... and I wonder if I could make a swap partition... I don't really know how to do it, I've just made them on my PC so I'm not sure if I can do it on my phone.
I feel like my phone is messy... I've seen 2 kinds of recovery tools and I just wanna have one (CWM and xRecovery). Does full wipe delete them? I would like to go back to the very begginig (without unrooting lol) and then change everything from the start :S.
Thanks.
PD: long story short:
What ROM is fast?
how can I make a swap partition?
can I unlock the bootloader to have a custom kernel? (having in mind that I introduced a code online to "unlock" my SIM)

1st check with s1too is you have sim lock certificate(if yes, you can unlock your bl)
2 you can try yourself there is no perfect rom for everbody
You need a partition on your sd for use swap
Sent from my E15i using xda premium
I just unlocked my phone...
Well I know there's no perfect ROM for everybody, but I'm just asking for some recomendations on fast ROMs... :B
is PrimeHD fast? is any other ROM faster than GDX?
And about the swap partition... is there any requirements? I remember I wanted to do it back then but I don't remember why I didn't xD
thanks
If you've already unlocked bl, switch kernels. That would help a lot.

IMO you don't need swap at all for GB.
Still if you want to, use it with a class 6 or 10 sdcard
Need help installing Recovery on Stock kernel
Hello All,
I was using CyanogenMod7 @ FXP kernel and had reverted back to Stock Kernel + Rom. Now I just want to try Custom ROMS over STOCK Kernel but couldn't find a way to install CWM on Stock Kernel for my W8 Device.
I want to use FDE 4+, but that too requires CWM to be installed over Stock Kernel, and I seriously don't know how to do this.
Someone please provide me a link/tutorial/guide to do the same.

Maybe you should give GDX another try, now that you have unlocked your bootloader. I used to use GDX with stock kernel, but like 14days ago I unlocked my bootloader and flashed ALFS kernel for GDX and now the ROM is like it never was before, super smooth and fast.

I dont want to unlock bootloader, so I would like to know if stock kernel is ok for custom ROMs or should I unlock bootloader and flash any custom kernel too?
II use exiastenz with stock kernel. I tried other kernels as well but after all I went back to stock kernel. But. I stay with unlocked bootloader while I can easily bring back my phone to life after messing too much in system when I recieve a bootloop at Sony logo I just flash doomlord kernel with cwm and then I can flash everything else. But with normal use I prefer stock kernel. Don't need to overclock with such hardware. Don't need to emulate cdrom or other stuff. Don't have time for that. Maybe a year ago but now I don't test new features.
As a summary. Is worth to have unlocked bootloader. But for normal using of device use stable stock kernel and .201 software.
You have to know that some of non stock ROMs NEED special kernels. CM 11 for example.

Yes, I know some about stock and non stock ROMS and when non stock kernel is needed. I had Live with Walkman (Xperia 11) and I needed kernel to OC because 1GHz was not enough and there were plenty of various kernels. Yet it was the only my android device so I need to renew my knowledge base.
So you would say, that stock kernel is enough? Or is it that custom kernels for SP does not differ much from stock kernel?
Also, if I want to flash CWM (recovery menu), do I need to unlock bootloader?
Is warranty void with root or it has nothing to do with warranty?

In my opinion Xperia SP has enough hardware to normal use, and also heavy gaming. Stock Kernel have all features which I need. OTG work, I dont overclock my CPU, more... I underclock my CPU frequenzy. I dont want support of NTFS and other things which can you find in custom kernels. So stock Kernel is enough.
Warranty. You Void your warranty when you unlock your bootloader. But you can always relock it, flash stock ROM and you will have your waranty again.
You dont have to unlock your bootloader to flash (install) recovery. You need root only.

Ok, in your kernel thread it states it has Philz Touch, but ivr never been able to get it load other than straight after flashing it. Is there an issue somewhere, even if i use your reboot app, it reboots either into twrp or cwm, which i can use, so not a huge issue, would just prefer to use Philz. Thanks.

Does this work well with the 402 update, Philz recovery was always my favourite recovery on SGS3, not seen many posts in here recently so looking for opinions.
Plan is to get unlock code from Sony, use FlashTool to unlock the bootloader, use Flashtool to flash the boot img from the first post in this thread & then flash superSU, is that the bets way to go about it?

Yes, it's dedicated for the .402 update
Your plan is valid, although keep in mind that Doomkernel has also Philz integrated.
Cheers for the reply mate. Is there a way to flash Philz with just the stock kernel or does it have to DoomLord's advanced kernel?

Hi OP,
I am using Build version: 6.29.8 - Xperia Z1 on Xperia X2 D6503.
(maybe slightly older than the latest one?)
I just tried to "Custom backup" my /sdcard partition for file recovery purpose.
However, the "Backup size" was 0.
So i wonder if the backup "sd-ext" function is still working on the PhilZ version.
Thanks in advance.
Will this work on D6502 and do i need an unlocked bootloader for it. Please somebody suggest. Thanks
ive flashed this
however i cant seem to access the recovery partition?
Great work guys !
Will this work with CM11, i currently have the latest CM11 NIGHTLY installed along with CWM recovery 6.0.5.0.
EDIT:
Also, i installed the latest firmware .314 before going to CM11, will flashing this change my kernel to anything other than what i have now ?
Thanks !

This version is for stock based roms, older ones at that. So no, CM won't work with this installed unfortunately.

If you are going to use it on unlock bootloader then use the DOOMkernel for Xperia SP.
Unlocked bootloader supports various features and tweaks on doomkernel, skip the doomlord's advance stock kernel flash

You can install custom ROM on your stock kernel too as long as bootloader is unlocked.
Unlocked bootloader opens access to more ROM's and can help in flashing Kernels.

Hi, so unfortunately I'd flash the new samsung bootloader (the 4.4 one) and now I can't flash a custom kernel (e.g. : pureCM), it just boot into a black screen
I can just boot on latest Samsung roms with official kernel ans CM/CM derivatives with the stock kernel that comes with
So do someone knows what to do? Is there a way to go back to the old bootloader or to flash these kernels?
Thanks in advance and sorry if I mispelled some words !
both boeffla and agni don't work? Maybe this should be directed to @Hbohd since @psndna88 has no phone atm

Do you know which bootloader it is - XXUFNI3 or XXUFNJ1? (It should be the same as your baseband unless you flashed a new modem).

So I just flashed everything from zero. I reflash samsung official rom through Odin, reflashed crDroid and finally flashed Boeffla kernel, and it worked great ! Guess maybe the boeffla kernel I first downloaded was corrupted or maybe something else. Anyway, thanks a lot!
