I got my OnePlus 3T a few weeks ago and love it. I am on T-Mobile and Wifi calling seemed to work fine on the latest release of OxygenOS (I basically have no cell reception at my house). Today I flashed CM 13 using Sultanxda's custom ROM and am SO HAPPY with it so far, except that I can't enable Wifi calling even though I can search for the setting and toggle it on; whenever I go back to the setting page for the option it's turned off again. I believe this has been discussed at length on the OnePlus 3 forums. My question is for any CM developers who may be working to bring CM 13 or 14 to the OnePlus 3T: since OxygenOS on the 3T now seems to support Wifi calling, is the outlook any better for CM supporting the feature on the 3T anytime soon?
For any other ROM developers, same question: will your project be able to support Wifi calling in the near future?
Thanks!
Bumping this since no one has had the chance to answer yet.

Hi
I received my 3T yesterday. I am having issues with WIFI
WiFi network drops frequently and the mobile data is used for some time and then WIFI is connected again. See attached .. This happens even when moving between rooms of my house
I think this happens when the mobile wifi changes from 5GHZ to 2.4GHZ when I move away from router
I have updated to OxygenOS 3.5.4 as soon as I received the mobile
The signal strength of the 3T is also very low
I have a 2 year old moto X 2014 and the moto beats the 3T at every place in my house
The signal strength and the wifi speed both are better in moto X
I have checked at various places
I have wiped the cache. Tried changing 2.5GHz to 5GHz
Changed Channels.. Tried all the things that I could find on the internet
But still problems
So is this a hardware problem and should I ask for a replacement? Or is this some Software bug which can be resolved
My router is ASUS RTN66U and a lot of other devices work seamlessly on that router and hence pls dont suggest to change the router
Awaiting replies
Regards
Ajjaykummar
I think this is a bug related to 3.5.4. On 3.5.3 my WiFi worked a lot better, but LTE Advanced is faster on 3.5.4. You can try a custom rom or downgrading, there's also a leaked OxygenOS 4 rom out.
Do you have wifi issues now when u have 3.5.4
I don't want to install new Roms. As I may have to return it in case this is a faulty piece
I'm having the exact same problem. I stream a lot. Very annoying when music video or gaming gets disconnect so often. My Galaxy Note 4, & s6 works fine.

yes, it started on 3.5.4.
here is a screencap of the issue
You can see in the screen cap that the mobile is connected to ASUS5 (5GHZ)
Then as I move away from the router the signal weakens and then the wifi disconnects .. and then it connects to ASUS (2.4GHZ)
Earlier it was connecting to ASUS but with a exclamation mark (without internet).. I waited for 15 minutes but it did not connect
Then I would connect if I switch off and on the wifi toggle
After that I did a factory reset and now you can see the screencap
It connects after a minor delay.. So is this alright
My other mobile - Moto X 2014 simply switches instantly from 5GHz to 2.4GHz and vice versa.. not even half of second is taken on moto x
Give the device a static IP use 2.4 network as it's more of a long range band. I tend to use the 5 band for stationary stuff. My WiFi works fine but all my home devices have a static IP.
This are the things that I did
1) Factory reset
2)Use Legacy DHCP client (under Developer options)
3)Disable Smart Wifi switcher (Advanced Wifi setting)
4)Static IP
This seems to solve the disconnection issue .. I still feel the wifi signal is weak compared to my other devices
Hope this helps someone facing the problem
regards
I had the same Problem on OOS 3.5.3/3.5.4/4.0 at the OnePlus 3T.
I tried every Solution on the internet and nothing worked for me.
But after i looked into my Router-Setup i saw the DHCP Section where i selected 'Renew DHCP every Day'
>>> Screenshot what i mean - imgur.com/KakQX3i.png <<<
After that it works perfect. No connection-issues anymore.
mine is already one day..
I thought it was resolved... but again I noticed slow wifi speeds
thinking of replacement
haven't had the phone long enough to experience disconnects but wifi is definitely slow...
I have a 200mbps connection, getting 160mbps on desktop with LAN cable, 110mbps on my OPO, only 50mbps on my OP3T....
all tested through speedtest with the same server location.
OP3T is chinese version flashed with oxygenos 4.0.1
edit: later tested again with OP3T getting up to 90mbps but still 20 less than the OPO
I have same issus like lajay. The Galaxy S7 from my wife works perfekt in the same Network!
Ever since I updated my Note 9 (Tmobile, stock OS) to Pie, I get the "wi-fi calling preferences updated" message numerous times throughout the day. There is no longer an icon in the status bar when Wifi calling is connected. The network switches even when I am on a call (and the call drops).
Are there others here having this issue? T Mobile staff appear to be surprised at this happening (though on their forum there are several threads about this with no solution). Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks!
I am having exactly the same issue, I really hope there is a solution to this because it's causing me tremendous connection issues when I am on my call.
would that be normal if on the go the location changes? just spitballin
using a system that has been updated versus starting from scratch on that new OS version is bound to cause issues. forum is riddled with users having weird issues post pie upgrade.
do your selves a favour and factory wipe and be done with it.
Your device is supposed to switch during a call to help keep the call going. You'll hear a beep which signifies your wifi signal is getting too weak to maintain the call. If you have a network connection, the device will switch to it, but if you're in a building where the is none, it will drop the call unless you stay within range of the wifi.
I went ahead and just adjusted the notification settings so that it doesn't even bother popping up. I think the wifi calling icon thing might be a Android Pie issue with Google knocking out certain permission allowances. I will have to do some digging into that.
I have, and have had for a long time, this very issue. I have had it over a few phones and Android versions. T-mobile is pushing down a change to 'WiFi Calling Preference' setting changing it to Cellular preferred. T-Mobile denies it but I have screen shots of the notification when they do it.
This is a problem for me since I rely heavily on WiFi calling with marginal cell signal strength. I am about to leave TMobile because of it.
So far I have tried Resurrection Remix and Havoc OS. Both allow me to turn on wifi calling but it doesn't actually make any calls over wifi. I've tried various other suggestions like VoEnabler in MagiskManager with no effect. If someone knows of a rom with working wifi calling on T-Mobile I'd jump on testing it out.
Same problem here (Vodafone). Wifi Calling not working so flashed SyberiaOS (VoWifi working in description) but no success at all
After the connection switches between mobile and Wifi Calling, there is only one way audio, the other party can hear me but I cannot hear the other party. The only fix seems to be to reboot the phone, but after a while the problem is back.
It appears others have the same issues based on this reddit thread:

Any known workarounds short of disabling wifi calling completely?
It seems that if you turn off 5G and prefer LTE, the problem goes away, wifi calling works well. Curious if others are seeing the same things.

Unlocked has nothing to do with bugs. People got the phones form TMobile directly and have the same problems.
i used to have this problem, but I've been on Andriod 12 beta (release candidate that came out a few days ago), and the problem seems to have gone away. I've had no problem with WiFi calling for the last few days --- so I am keeping fingers crossed that there isn't an issue anymore.
Hi everyone. I have a T-Mobile V40 that I bought back in 2021 and it had Android 10 installed out of the box.
So recently I tried to flash various Android versions available for this phone (8.1 and 9 and 10) using LGUP to test them thoroughly and then settle on the best one. I even cycled between them to make sure that their pros and cons are not placebo.
So I think that overall, Android 9 is the best OS for this phone. The highlight is that it definitely drains less battery than 8.1 and 10.
However, there's a major bug in Android 9 that doesn't happen in 8.1 and 10.
When I enable the WiFi (even without connecting to anything) it immediately causes the cellular signal to drop. In other words, the phone completely loses the cellular reception when WiFi is enabled and won't get it back unless WiFi is disabled and then dial *#*#4636#*#* to bring the hidden menu and disable/re-enable the "Mobile Radio Power" toggle.
The Pie firmwares I tried are V405TA20g and V405TA20n, which are the very first and the very last Android 9 firmwares available for the T-Mobile V40. I don't know if this happens only in T-Mobile variant or it's a universal Android 9 bug across all of the V40's, but do you have any idea why it happens? Is there any fix? Any clever tricks to do with ADB and LGUP?
I tried disabling/enabling "Cellular data always active" in developer options and WiFi related stuff like WiFi calling, but they didn't fix anything. It happens even if there's no 3rd party app installed.
Honestly it just doesn't make any sense. I've seen lots of screenshots in Reddit where folks are on Pie and both WiFi and cellular are active simultaneously.
