Are there any cases with a micro sd card slot for the Note 5. I know Incipio and Mophie has them for the S6.
why do you need a case with a Micro SD Card slot? The note 5 doers not use a memory card

It would act like a OTG and you can upload or download files from it.

That's the whole point. The case provides a missing feature.

ok I misunderstood what you were looking for. Looking at the one in the link it looks pretty cool. I myself have the 64gb model and have never come close to filling it up ( even though I have a bunch of movies \ringtones\ Pictures\etc... so I dont miss the sd card but I do also make use of cloud storage to make up for it. I have accounts with Google drive (1tb of storage that I get with school tuition) and Microsoft One Drive (also 1tb) and any files I need I just download them as I need them

Alas, that d/l and u/l is got to be on WiFi, I also have the 64GB version and if I loaded my music on it, I could fill it up quick. But with limited data plans (Mines 6GB a month) using data to listen to music is a bad idea.. Movies use up even more.. I use to have a OTG reader, but lost it... It's a shame the N5 was short lived and more couldn't be done for it. Now that the N7 is kaput, the N5 is as close of a Note phone you will get to it..

I dont have alot of songs or ringtones on my N5 (about 100 total combined ) but I do have about 35 movies and tv shows stored on it that I rotate on and off periodically. I own them on digital downloads or DVD and then upload them to my laptop where I convert them to AVI or MKV files (higher compression rates and less storage space a 2 hour movie is about 700mb) so I can store more in less space, this way I always have them and dont need to download them when ever I want to
I can run my own radio station with the music I have stored. Only about 5 or 6 movies. I don't load up unless I go on a trip. Then I delete them when I get home. Still would have liked a extended battery case with the sd card slot built in... :good:
What I've found to be useful for media consumption on the go is using a micro usb drive. I have a 64GB that I slap on when I go to the gym and listen to my music.

I've had them and lost it. But if I'm going to play a radio or music player, I will need my Powerbank. LoL
Did find this https://i-blades.com/products/galaxy-note-5-battery-case-battery-life-memory
I-blades.com, has a smart case for the note 5. The case itself gives you the ability to monitor air quality, and add on other sensors in the future. I bought the case with memory blade, the blade has 32GB built in storage, a micro sd slot, and extra battery! The blades are inter changeable with t he other cases they make for other models so you could use one blade with say an iPhone, annd you're Notre 5. They're also supposed to be stackable so you could add two or more memory blades on top of each other! I preordered the case and blade, but they're not set to ship until the end of the month!

Thanks! But I already know that... What I want is just Memory stick to SD/MMC slot I dont want to add backpack just to use my memory stick.
Then I guess no such thing exist huh!?
I also tried searching on the Net but found nothing... Hmmm.. too bad..
Thanks for all your help mate... I guess we just need to wait and hope some manufacturer will come up with what we want.
...or XDAIII will have CF Slot!
P.S. ( If Anyone knows a cheap SD card seller in Europe, please be so kind and let me know - Here in SLovenia are they just 2 Expensive  )

Yes - I think they should design the upcoming XDA with mutiple memory slots (CF, SD, MMC, MS etc).. Good idea!
LOL... But that sucks if we need to wait for XDA/MDAIII to used different types of memory cards. It means we need to spent another thousand bucks(closed to) to have it.

well the backpack is not that expensive
of cause one can not always be sure that
using a converter like the backpack to get CF
to use a converter to get MS would work 100%
there will only be such a product as a ms to sd if there was a high enough demand for it
i doubt there is
is it not only sony who use ms ?
sd seem imho to become the std like CF was which is getting old and will prob be outfased in 2 years or something

I guess you're right CF will be faced out in a few years, SD might be the next standard BUT micro drive still using CF isn't it? So I guess there are still some debate on that huh!
I also read somewhere that mini-SD is also coming out soon. So I guess we'll just wait and see what happened in the few years.
Belive me - You don't want to have XDAIII with CF slot. Just look at Your precious XDA or XDAII close to Your face during a phone call and imagine it 20% biger and 50g havier. Even now it's way too big as a phone especially that summer is comming and I have totaly no idea how to carry it without all those winter clothes, deep ass hell pockets
Best idea I can imagine is USB port in host mode - I've got HDD 9mm (from laptop computer) in aluminium case connected via USB interface. Imagine U can have 40GB in another pocket to carry all those xxx movies LOL.

which mean that he would like xda3 to support host mode because xda2 dont, so unless his external disk is defect then he can transfer files from his pc not his ppc
if 9mm mean 2.5" laptop hd then i have this case (it's still empty but i will get a fujitcu or seagate 2.5" disk for it soon)
http://www.starkingtech.com/@PRDCT/TT945.htm
it have both firewire and usb2 connecting options
and i will of cause use firewire since irl it's faster then usb2
but it's nice that it have usb2 aswell because far from all computers have firewire yet and usb2 is backward compatible with usb1.1

Here in the US, I'm seeing 256MB SD cards for $30 now, and the high-speed cards for $40.
If that's a lot less than what you pay there, I'd be happy to post one to you. It costs $5 to send something that small to Europe, and it arrives in 4-7 days.

I'm thinking of getting an 8GB Micro SDHC card and I'm curious what everyone else has loaded theirs up with. My real intention is a few programs, and for GPS maps as they tend to be quite large.
What do you all have on yours?

Everything. Maps, music, apps, roms, radios. Like I said, everything you can think of. Check ebay on the SD cards. Got my 8GB from ebay for $45 and it is a Sandisk. Not a knockoff.
My 4GB is full of music (mostly) and photos from the camera. I like to keep apps in the internal memory, there's plenty of it.
Thinking about upgrading to an 8GB just for some TomTom map space, not sure if it's worth jumping straight to a 16GB yet?
EDIT - just checked on the 16GB, and I guess not! Doesn't even seem to be available yet..
The 16GBs are rumored for June sometime I believe.
I totally forgot about storing my photos on the storage card, as for music I don't have a head set as the Tilt's didn't ship with one (i dont think) so I dont have a good way to really listen yet.
I wanna say I've heard of people storing wikipedia on their storage card as well. So I didn't know if anyone did this or something similar, or just other random things really.
i'm using two 2GB micro cards, one is completely full of music and the other i use to keep my cabs on so that when i flash i only have to reinstall them straight from the phone and that saves time, i have a few radios and a movie(transformers) but the movie doesn't play very well as we all know
mainly porn..................jk
I have a 4gb card with TomTom, 500 mp3s, and a few movies or tv shows. I put osme random installs on there but they never take up much compared to Tomtom and movies
maps, mp3s, movies, pictures
endless amounts of porn
hahaha jk
I'm sure theres a limit to the ammount of porn you can get on an 8gb card...
On my I store tomtom maps, music, pictures, a film or two and some random school work. It acts as a second USB Drive only people stare in wonder at my awesomeness with it!
what is this porn? is it a program?
jk
Music,movies and porn...and i'm not kidding!!!!!!

Would like to see how you find a genuine SD cards on ebay. Cuz I know that 70% of memory cards on ebay are fake. Since the technology to make the card is not rocket science, they look 90% real. I bought 2 cards from ebay ( memory stick pro duo ) for my psp and phone but only the 2nd one is real. I am not that stupid to be fooled by fishy price , but only recognized that I got a bad card after 3 months of use and already gave him a + feed back.
Would you recommend the seller that you bought from ?
I have a trick to get a real card with low price but dont recommend it since its hardly legal
As for storage, I am not a big fan of music and movie so I only need 2gb. Half of it is for Tom Tom map , the rest are some songs, pics, documents and apps. Oh yea, few porn wouldnt kill the thing lol.

Those who got porn, should be commended for their honesty, seriously. I don't have any saved because there are sites where u can watch videos for free. I have a 8GB card loaded in Kaiser with 5.5 GBs remaining, lol. I have documents, music, videos, loads of camera pics, apps, and games. I may have to start saving porn (videos) to take up some space, lol. The 12 GB card (I hear) is currently available, 16 GB card will be available in June, and 24 GB card will be available by December or January 2009. Insane, lol. I won't be surprised if the 32 GB card sufaces in by late 2009.

hey everyone! I've been looking to buy a nexus 7 but the lack of expandable memory is making it hard to justify buying and the fact that the biggest option is 16GB of internal storage (13GB available).
Now I'm still going to buy it just because i cant resist but does anyone think there is a way I could actually replace the internal SD card with my own larger one? i ask this because I have seen in a few phones that the internal storage is nothing more than a regular SD card.
anyways it would be great if anyone has any ideas or if you really think cloud storage is just fine let me know
Being totally unqualified to comment (but that has never stopped me),
you would be silly buying a Nexus 7 with the idea of replacing the internal SD card yourself.
Maybe a teardown will reveal a standard SD card socket - but I highly doubt it.
Sockets cost a lot more than a surface mount device, and you really don't want to go there. Even if you are able to replace the SD card, the boot rom is likely to have an idea as to the size and format of the SD - and you can't change that.

Not many people can answer your question now since not many have them. We will have to wait for IFixIt to break one down. There are stories on people replacing the sdcard chip with a larger one via soldering but we won't know for sure until someone opens one up.
At it's current infant stage, best storage option is to use an OTG cable & sdcard.
Also, need to wait to see if dev's are able to improve anything.
Can't comment on cloud storage because you need to tell us what type of user you are: gamer, video watcher, etc....
I'm a gamer & the best way for me to to backup Android folder & remove game files that I'm currently not playing. When I do play that game, I transfer back the game files to Android folder.
Basically you have to manage your storage space. Also need to factor in storage for nandroids.
I'll say 16gb is enough if you manage your space: backup files & transferring them back when needed, etc.
Transcend storejet cloud 64gb wireless ssd hard drive is $99.00 on amazon. Small enough for put in your pocket, 5-6 hrs battery. I can put link here, cause i'm newbie lol.
or
Kingston Wi-Drive: short battery, it's exspensive.
or
Maxell AirStash flash drive: good battery, but it's very exspensive.

Cloud only works for multimedia. It doesn't work for games/apps that take up space. Games (non-casual) can get pretty big. Ditto for some apps, eg Google Maps offline caching. One solution,

pm me the name of that magical micro USB card reader plz!
Here's my first attempt at making a compact micro sd card reader. So excuse the overall finish. If doing it again, i would be a bit more precise with cutting and maybe use something other than superglue so it fills in the gaps neatly. This was just a one off to see if it works! Was tested with a spare 8GB i had lying around. WIll obviously be getting some class 10 cards!
Plan is to have a few 32GB cards then can just keep a load of storage in wallet etc. Got the idea from another member on here who did a micro usb to usb adapter.

I admire your aspirations. If only more people would want to design these things in this form factor.
P.S.
Class 10 is very slow compared to UHS-1...:silly:

Wow thats creative
I'm wondering if this can be done with a flat ribbon cable and generally made as flat as possible so that it can permanently sit attached between the back of the nexus 4 and a case. That would be awesome.

Nicely done.
Are you just using this for carrying media around with you or do you have it for file transfer on and off? I'm assuming your rooted so does StickMount work with this application to allow you transfer on and off of any file type?

I used a hot glue gun to fill in my adapter. Worked well to ensure a nice, tight fit, and you can easily cut away any excess that squeezes out between the cracks.
here is mine, it's a regular microsD reader + micro USB plug.. combined all together in a heatshrink
works great with stickmount
I've managed to modify and repackaged the stock 4.2.1 kernel which combined with my Vold.fstab gives me simple, auto mount, read write access to my stick without custom ROM.
It won't show up in storage devices (yet) cause I need a suitable apktool to modify the framework, but if anyone's interested and wants to stay stock as possible, I'd be happy to share it when I get home.

Hey guys here's the final recipe:
1) Get the Nano MIcroSD card reader kinda like this one;
2) Get the small and nice 32GB UHS-I MicroSD card itself, like this one;
3) Hook'em up with one of these bad boys, depending on the style you would like to get: usual flash drive , flexing and long , g-style flash drive
$5 + $2.5 + 25$ = $30 Real 32 gig gansta stick-it-on-the-fly OTG-USB-SD CARD Reader extension combo, dawg.

Nice job, however, for additional advantage of that UHS-1 card's speed, you should probably get a UHS compatible reader.

I've modified the ramdisk so it shows up in /storage/usbdisk and I've symlinked to /usbdisk
It shows up in all file manager managers and it shows up in /proc/mounts.
In /proc/mounts it shows as follows:
/dev/block/vold/8:1 /storage/usbdisk
I will check with your app now.
EDIT: It didn't show up by default in your app, but I changed external storage path and it showed then. See screenshot, attached.
EDIT2: I have posted the kernel in the Dev section now: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35111006#post35111006

I guess that's a returning question.. but in relation to the Moto X 2014:
- how much space is available on the 16Gb version of the new X in it's stock state?
- all of you having the 16Gb version already, how do you deal with the situation? Is it enough, it is horribly short on space or something in between?
thanks a lot..
ps. dang, can't edit the title.. sorry about the phrasing.
The stock delivered moto x 2014 has about 9.5GB of free space. (XT1092)

Weird, my XT1092 arrived with 10.06 GB available.
It's pretty cramped, I take a lot of pictures and videos.
I got an 64GB OTG USB stick, where I move some of my files periodically.
When I decide to root, that's where I'll put my backups and firmwares.
I use Microsofts OneDrive to auto-upload photos and videos just to make sure
Because I use Windows 8.1 and OneDrive is integrated really nicely, I get access to my stuff as if it's a folder when I get home.
If anyone knows of a gallery app that allows you to browse online files as if they were on-device, that would be great.
My old HTC One had that built into the gallery, was pretty neat.
Sorry i've forgotten to mention that i used the migrate app to sync my call protocols and messages + Whatsapp Backup.
Could be that 10.06 minus 09.50 = 506 Megabytes make the difference
Did the same thing like the guy above me. Got an USB OTG stick and thats fine for music and media files etc.. I dont mind the lack of storage, but a bit more is nice.
Coming from a 32GB HTC One, it was a scary step back (the 32GB Moto X is not available in Europe), but I think it might be enough.
I have a generous data plan and I use Google Play Music so I stream everything from the cloud. Conversely, all my pictures are instantly uploaded to Dropbox so I can periodically delete most of them from my phone. This basically eliminates the need for extensive media storage. What's left is apps and caching. I don't play a lot of games on my phone anymore so 16GB goes a long way.
I came from a Galaxy S4 with 16 gb storage and 32 gb sd card. Truth be told, the only thing I used the sd card for was music and backups. I now have the 16 gb version motox and with the apps less music I still have over 7gb free. So unless I get real stupid and download a lot of apps I don't see this being a problem. It is kind of like having a big hard drive in your computer, if you don't need to delete files you probably never will but that doesn't mean you actually use them. I keep all my music on dropbox and just stream it.... wifi is free.
I don't want to hijack the thread but does an OTG USB stick mount without root?

annoyingly the 32GB model is available in Germany, UK and France. I ordered mine through phonehouse.de

10.06 GB. I'm a heavy user, however all of my music and photos are stored in the cloud (spotify and google+)
I never purchase aything but 16gb versions (unless of course the smallest is 32gb). I have never had an issue with space. I don't store music/movies/absurd amounts of pictures or apps on my devices. I have computers and the cloud for that and never saw the fun in seeing how many useless apps I could install.
If your the type that likes to keep your life collections of pictures, or loves keeping all your videos of your kids/pets/etc on your phone, or you are one of the people that think you need to have your music library on your phone, then do not get the 16gb.

Not gonna lie, part of me wishes I'd known that before I ordered mine. :silly: But I still think with everything in the cloud nowadays my 16GB will be enough.

Yup, works without you needing to do anything.
You have to go to settings and dismount manually, otherwise it'll complain when putting it back in and I believe it runs a checkdisk command, as it takes way longer.
There's no drop down menu, go to settings and storage, and it's there in the very bottom.
