When connected to car head unit Bluetooth, audio streams from phone with no issues. Clear, no studders, good quality. My issue is that calls won't connect through Bluetooth. There is no option to connect phone calls through Bluetooth through the dialer app and when I go to Bluetooth settings it says "Bluetooth connected (no phone) ". Only happens with my Oneplus 3T. Other phones connected to the head unit plays streams music fine and also manages calls appropriate.
Any solutions? Would be greatly appreciated.
Not sure it is the same issue but the I reverted to 3.5.4 due to bluetooth issues. My Bose bluetooth headphones paired, connected and played fine. But after leaving the headphones idle for a while and turning them back on, they would connect fine, but with no sound. I would have to pair the headphones again to get sound.

When you go to Bluetooth -> Paired devices and click on the settings icon besides your car's bluetooth name, check the box for Phone audio.
If this doesn't work, try it with re-pairing the phone to the car.
By default the phone audio button is already check. So that wasn't a problem. Also tried disconnecting and pairing again, same issue.
For me after fresh nougat update phone box wasnt checked by default.

With re-pairing I did not mean just disconnecting. I meant forget the paired device (delete the device name from the paired list).
Yes. Did a factory reset and updated the firmware on the head unit in the car. Also deleted the Bluetooth connection from the phone settings. After I re paired had the same issue. I'm clueless.
Here
Says "No phone" but "Phone audio" box clearly checked.
Forget your Bluetooth device from your Android. Turn the device off. Then restart you phone and reconnect. This process acts as a forced reset of the connection and should be able to solve the problem.

I'm having the same issues as the OP and tried your suggestion but still doesn't work. Can listen to audio through bluetooth with no issues, just can't use phone audio to make calls.
Hello I have the same problem. I have no solution. I tested the forum solutions but nothing done. But this happens with the Rom resurrection remix. With OxygenOS call working well. Do You have any issue ?
Try settings>localization >tree dots on the top>scanning >turn bluetooth scanning off (it is BS anyways). It fixed my issues with 2016 ford car, might fix yours.

Thank You but sorry man it don't work. I have this problem just with resurrection Rom. For music everything is OK but for calls i have message next the device in Bluetooth menu '' no calls ''. In OxygenOS il don't have this problem.
I have this issue too except it's on an HTC 10. It must be part of the ROM since I'm also running Resurrection Remix. I have a Pioneer CD player (model DEH-Xsomething).
This is a common problem with the BT stack in Lineage OS. They need to fix something for it to work with our devices. Since most ROMs are based off of LOS this means that others, such as resurrection remix, also have this problem. AOSPA, OOS, and CarbonROM don't have this issue for me.
I've fixed the issue in resurrection remix by using AOSPA's BT stack. Here's a link to my thread. Let me know if this works for you too.

Mine does the same, nexus 5 with XenonHD.

Fixed this with a flashable zip for Oneplus 3/3T owners. If you are interested I've provided instructions for how I can make one for your device.

I recently got a new Nexus 6 and I'm having bluetooth connection issues specifically in my car. Bluetooth will connect but when it connects it shows "Bluetooth connected (no media)". So I can make phone calls over bluetooth in my car but my phone won't play media (waze/gps, local music, streaming music, etc). I have no problems connecting via bluetooth to a portable bluetooth speaker at home. Previously I had a Nexus 5 that I had no problems connecting to my car's bluetooth and making phone calls or playing media.
I've searched forums/google and have disassociated the pairing multiple times, ensured that 'Media audio' is checked in the bluetooth paired device settings, deleted the bluetooth cache, rebooted and nothing seems to resolve the (no media) issue.
It's strange because everything was fine with my old Nexus 5 and the Nexus 6 works fine with my separate portable bluetooth speaker but it won't play through my car's bluetooth. Has anyone experienced this?
Thanks!
Anyone?

Sorry I don't have an answer, but you're not alone. I have exactly the same issue. Normally seems to solve itself when I manually turn BT off, then back on. But I hate to do that because it disconnects by Moto 360 and screws up a lot of other Tasker profiles that trigger from connecting to my car audio sytem. Sometimes I have to completely reboot the phone to make it work. I've tried a lot of things, but no luck yet. Hope someone knows the answer!
I had this problem one time before. Try bluetooth autoconnect. A2DP seems to not be running on your phone.
I'm having the same issue - brand new and it doesn't want to work on either of my phones I'm questioning the Integrity of the cheap $20 Walmart bluetooth car head unit
Is there a resolution for this problem? I've got the same issue as the op going on...
it can only be one of 3 things;
-your rom
-your kernel
-your vehicles bluetooth version
you can change/fix the first 2 things, but the third one is an expensive fix..
I'm running stock on the Nexus 6. It's not even rooted. Searching on this problem, there are posts that go back a few years. I figure with so many people running into this problem, someone must be working on a solution. I guess it's easier to just plug in the auxiliary cable?
I have the same issue . connected but no media. It worked properly after I re-booted the phone. We shouldn't have to do that so this bug needs fixing.
I have this problem with my new pioneer mvh-36bt deck. Only when I'm on a custom ROM though. I'd goto more options check all the boxes. Then clear Bluetooth memory on deck then it works. When I'm on stock rooted image no problems.
I had a similar issue when I switched from. Nexus 6 to 6P. In my case it turned out to be that there can be only 2 portable Bluetooth players that can be connected to my car multimedia. Deleting one of the 2 portable players and re pair Bluetooth resolved my issue
My Nexus 6 is the only Bluetooth device synced in the my car. I've tried deleting and re-pairing, turning the phone off and back on, turning Bluetooth off and back on, and nothing seems to work. :/

I have the same problem. My N6 never had any BT issues until I bought my new car today and tried to pair. My friend's iPhone worked just fine, so I'm pretty sure it's something in N6 that's the problem. Call function works but no media. This is very frustrating...

Curious if you've selected gear icon, in BT screen by device name, after paired AND while connected to view / enable all relevant options?
Sometimes when I pair I must manually update the BT access, though rarely. I presume manufacturer pairing settings (external device, not N6) don't default to all available options. Can't hurt to make sure media etc. is enabled. Good luck.

Yea, they are all checked, but it doesn't make any differences. BT also keeps losing connection. Thanks for the suggestion anyway.

Oddly enough, when I connected my phone to BT speaker today, no media or phone cnxn. Took my own advice and checked the BT settings. All were checked.
Unchecked then rechecked phone and media. Slight delay after uncheck before system let me reselect. Voila! Phone and media cnxn restored. BT was connected whole time.

Yes! My 1 week old Nexus 6P same issue. But all other bluetooth device pair xcellent, shows and plays media!
OK, I got mine to work on my 2011 Lexus by first pairing it as a phone then pairing it as a Bluetooth media player. Works great! Frustrating that I had to do it that way, but I'm happy I don't have to plug my N6 into the microphone jack anymore.

I got a Kenwood DDX5016BT in my car. When you connect a new device it will just work as a phone. To enable media you have to go settings and register it as a Bluetooth device. It right on top of the iPod settings. Hope this helps anyone or even me in a few months lol

I recently flashed CyanogenMod 12.1 nightly on my droid turbo. I Have had a good user experience so far, although there is only one issue that is really effecting my decision of using this ROM as my daily driver. My phone has no audio during Bluetooth calling and the microphone is not working as well. I'm not sure if this is a known issue or if there is a fix available at this time. I would greatly appreciate any responses in this thread troubleshooting the issue, so we can all resume safe hands-free driving.

Do you happen to be using the 11/29 nightly? I haven't tried any other newer release yet, but I have been able to successfully connect via bluetooth to my car and stream audio. I've had no indication of it failing. The one thing that got me at first when connecting to my car and streaming was that bluetooth has it's own volume control (which I turned up to maximum on my phone). I'm not sure that would explain the microphone though (if it's even related to your issue).

And you've gone into the phone audio settings (when it's connected) to make sure your mic audio, etc wasn't turned down? Audio settings change when Bluetooth is connected...
I use Volume Control Plus and put a shortcut on the desktop so I have quick access to all the phone volume settings.

Starting this thread to see how prevalent this bug is, and if it's something fixable or just a bug that will need to be fixed in the next update. It appears to be affective at least a few other users as well (https://www.reddit.com/r/oneplus/comments/5g89wa/oos_beta_8_bluetooth_issue/)
Much like in the linked thread, I have been having issues with BT connectivity with my car, such that BT audio plays but voice search feedback on android auto doesn't play. also noticed that BT subsettings are all unchecked for all paired devices (phone audio/media audio) despite that both work. Anyone else seeing other bluetooth issues on this build?
Yeah, I can no longer even pair my phone to my car (Mitsubishi). It just won't work no matter what I do.

Hi all,
I have the issue, that I need to reconnect my XZ2 to my BMW 1series (F20) really often, because it does not autoconnect when the ignition is turned on.
So I need to pair the XZ2 again and again with my car.
Also my BT-Sony Headset is affected.
It seems, that my Phone drops sporadically all paired bluetooth devices.
I noticed that I can bypass this problem with a daily reboot of my Phone. But this shouldnt be the Solution.
Any Ideas? Can someone confirm a Bluetooth problem?

Try using new flasher to reinstall the latest firmware.
But delete the "userdata" file, it would remove your userdata.
I gather root, backuped my stuff with Titanium backup and wiped userdata, too.
Now my smart lock is working again.
Thx Martin. Hope pie fixed it.
I have an odd Bluetooth issue too, lately it's been disconnecting the ear buds while changing streaming apps (i.e. from Tidal to Spotify or Podcast) or when moving between networks, either between access points or from WiFi to cellular data. Just started happening this week. Didn't change anything that I can remember. It's almost behaving like there is a power saving feature enabled which is trying to save on Bluetooth use. Sometimes it'll reconnect on its own and sometimes I have to toggle BT. It's weird.
I also have Bluetooth issue.
I have a Bluetooth weighing scale,my xz2 can connect to it but everytime I sync my scale data the scale app gives me a Bluetooth error, however, I also have a xz and it works well.
And I also have a Sony ear phone(MDR-EX750BT), yesterday I connected it but it didn't play any sounds I had to reboot my phone ,then the issue disappeared. I don't know when the show again.this shouldn't be a Sony quality

yeah, ditto. The connection to my Sony WF-1000X earbuds is stable now, with no disconnects like I was getting with the later updates of Oreo.
FYI, I had to wipe my user partition to do the eventual update. the first flash via Newflasher where I kept it intact apparently went bad and messed up my radios and fingerprint scanner. that's the first time I've ever had issues doing that.
Now I am getting Bluetooth problems.
The music has stuttering and normal intervals.
Very disturbing.
I contacted the Sony support.

I think my T460P with the same OS got the same problem.
Need to test it again.
Received PIE OTA today. Everything seemed great until I got in the car to drove home from work. Phone connects to Bluetooth fine and stayed connected until I tried making a call. When I dialed a contact it started ringing properly over the car speakers then dropped and the status stopped showing on the car display. Phone still said it was connected to BT and phone audio routing through the Handsfreelink. I couldn't hear anything. Switching the call audio to Phone I was able to hear the person through the phone handset.
I've tried repairing to the car and restarting phone. I did not try calling through Android Auto I interface on the car, but will try that tomorrow.
Looking for similar issues I saw some hit for the Pixel devices, but it was on older beta builds of PIE.

Are you using a Galaxy watch? I used to have the same problem until I reset my watch then everything worked fine.
I would recommend you find out what's disconnecting the bluetooth through bluetooth > Advanced > Bluetooth control history and see if there are any apps turning off the bluetooth. Galaxy Wearable was constantly disconnecting my bluetooth when it was disconnected to my car's bluetooh and that's why I reset it.
I hope that helps.

I recommend you delete your phone 's profile from your car and reestablish it all over again after your reset your phone's bluetooth as well through settings > general management > reset > reset network settings. Bear in mind that this will erase all your bluetooth connections as well as wifi data.
Good luck.

I have the same issue, Phone will connect fine initially but after like 5 minutes of playing music or calling Car will lose connection all together to BT in Phone (phone says it still connected for a couple of secs then drops as well) If I leave alone BT will connect again after a minute or so then disconnect again in a couple of minutes
I'm using Android Auto on my phone (My car does not have AAuto so use the phone as a display) so everytime BT connects disconnects AA launches
Tried resetting BT cache and data and repairing but everytime same thing.

I tested today after some BT resets and in the morning everything stayed connected so I thought it was fixed but in the drive home it disconnected 3 times while in a call !
I can confirm that this is happening specifically for me as well. Long time lurker/reader.
I'm confident I've isolated the issue to the Pie update. My Google search bringing me back 180° to here supports that.
I have that sinking feeling that this is gonna be an ongoing bugaboo. Let's hope I'm wrong!
I'm not an Android Auto user. The accompanied "drop signal" notification from my Galaxy Watch losing BT signal to phone to every few minutes is slowly eroding my sanity. Most recently on official AT&T CSAA clean wipe.
Cheers!
What's the current version of Pie on our Note 9 at the moment? From the looks of all these posts describing issues, I may have to permanently remain on Oreo for the entire life of this phone.
Hi, Annon here. Here's a real quirk... After receiving the update on my phone, I was happily driving home with music streaming through spotify via bluetooth and my husband decides to call me. The phone rings, I try to answer from the steering wheel and instead of answering the phone, it looks like it's connected the the car is still ringing the phone at me while not connecting to any voice. On my husband's end, he gets this really loud and annoying screeching sound so obviously he hangs up. But it doesn't stop there. Even though the call is disconnected (not that it ever stopped ringing on my end or connected), the phone continues to ring through my car UNTIL I GET HOME AND TURN OFF MY VEHICLE. Even after I turn off blue tooth and the radio console. It was the cherry on top of my crap day.
PIE in the face
I have exactly the same problem with a note9 connecting to a Discovery Sport. The phone connects for a short while then drops completely, then reconnects automatically and cycles like this for 3 or so times then seems to stabilise.
If I am on a call its a total nightmare, thinking of trying to revert to Oreo.
Anybody have a fix yet besides revert to oreo firmware?
Note 9 At&T on latest pie. Can confirm Bluetooth disappears from memory. Happens to car, headset, watch and have to re-pair over and over. Pretty frustrating. Was working perfectly prior to pie.

Same same my Note 9 constantly drops from my Discovery sport, I'm thinking about Odin flashing back to 8.1.

I chatted with Samsung+ after I told them I already FDR'd my phone and everything else they asked about they recommended I get in contact with the warranty Dept so I can get another phone that will have the same issue once it updates to Pie
same issue here . Before describing issue please e-mail me if anyone has a fix ([email protected]) .
I have Galaxy Watch and a Honda Accord 2017. Everything went fine until upgrading to Pie. Now when phone is connected to the car system it rings but cant answer the call. Not on my steering wheel nor on my touch display. Furthermore if I try calling back It rings until person answers call and then it totally drops the call from my car system. Very annoying . If anyone comes with an answer to that please e-mail me the solution
Flashed back to 8.1 and no issues, I removed system permissions for the software update app and so far it hasn't automatically updated, I just get the persistent notification.
Same here - I just migrated from my oneplus 3t to the Note 9. And as a constant User of Android Auto, this is really a big big issue for me. Any hints besides Re-Odin?
