My XZ2 often dropps known Bluetooth devices - Sony Xperia XZ2 Questions & Answers

Hi all,
I have the issue, that I need to reconnect my XZ2 to my BMW 1series (F20) really often, because it does not autoconnect when the ignition is turned on.
So I need to pair the XZ2 again and again with my car.
Also my BT-Sony Headset is affected.
It seems, that my Phone drops sporadically all paired bluetooth devices.
I noticed that I can bypass this problem with a daily reboot of my Phone. But this shouldnt be the Solution.
Any Ideas? Can someone confirm a Bluetooth problem?

Try using new flasher to reinstall the latest firmware.
But delete the "userdata" file, it would remove your userdata.
I gather root, backuped my stuff with Titanium backup and wiped userdata, too.
Now my smart lock is working again.

Thx Martin. Hope pie fixed it.

I have an odd Bluetooth issue too, lately it's been disconnecting the ear buds while changing streaming apps (i.e. from Tidal to Spotify or Podcast) or when moving between networks, either between access points or from WiFi to cellular data. Just started happening this week. Didn't change anything that I can remember. It's almost behaving like there is a power saving feature enabled which is trying to save on Bluetooth use. Sometimes it'll reconnect on its own and sometimes I have to toggle BT. It's weird.

I also have Bluetooth issue.
I have a Bluetooth weighing scale,my xz2 can connect to it but everytime I sync my scale data the scale app gives me a Bluetooth error, however, I also have a xz and it works well.
And I also have a Sony ear phone(MDR-EX750BT), yesterday I connected it but it didn't play any sounds I had to reboot my phone ,then the issue disappeared. I don't know when the show again.this shouldn't be a Sony quality

yeah, ditto. The connection to my Sony WF-1000X earbuds is stable now, with no disconnects like I was getting with the later updates of Oreo.
FYI, I had to wipe my user partition to do the eventual update. the first flash via Newflasher where I kept it intact apparently went bad and messed up my radios and fingerprint scanner. that's the first time I've ever had issues doing that.

Now I am getting Bluetooth problems.
The music has stuttering and normal intervals.
Very disturbing.
I contacted the Sony support.

with what Bluetooth device?
so far with Advanced 3 and Sony WF-1000x earbuds it's been stable for me. As well as my car connection (Land Rover) and some shower speaker I've been using it with.

I think my T460P with the same OS got the same problem.
Need to test it again.

Bluetooth Issue

So I paired the One with my QED uPlay at home and I'm having issues. The phone has to literally be 30cm away from the receiver or the audio will start getting distorted until it eventually cuts off. I have two uPlays, issue exists on both so its not tbe receiver. Also my iPhone 4s has no issues either. I was hoping the One had better audio than the iPhone since it has aptx, but its quite the opposite. Has anyone tried bluetooth music streaming? Is it just a faulty phone?

Bluetooth and Wi-Fi both use the 2.4GHz channel. Asus had issues with the Prime because of its all-aluminum design where they had to greatly amplify the Wi-Fi signal and use diversity antennas to get through it. HTC uses the latter on the One. When used together, the Wi-Fi signal can overpower and interfere with the BT signal. Try turning off Wi-Fi and see if your connection quality changes. You're the first one to mention a BT issue so it could be unique to your device. Time will tell.
I have had a problem with bt connecting to my car (audi a1) I can hear the call but the other end cannot hear me. Going to delete connection and try again tomorrow.
Thanks for the replies. I switched off WIFI, re-paired the device and bluetooth started working perfectly, so it makes sense it was interference. Strange thing is I turned WIFI back on and bluetooth was still working fine. I'll do further tests in my car tomorrow see how it goes. If I'm not convinced I'll just get the phone replaced.
I have also had issues with bluetooth paired to my hands free car kit. Issues have surfaced when streaming music and also when making audio calls via bluetooth.
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
The One X had a similar issue:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1688538
It could be that when I was first trying the WIFI antenna was stuck on high power, which caused the interference, but when I reset the WIFI it reduced its power and no longer interfered with the BT. I have changed the WIFI at home to run at 5 GHZ, but work still runs on 2.4.

I am running 1.28.401.7. How did you update to the latest ROM? I don't want to unlock my bootloader in case I need to return it.
Did you used to have the same exact issue in the previous ROM?

Apparently 1.29.709.4 has been officially released in Taiwan by HTC, so it shouldn't be long before the update arrives to the rest of us (hopefully).
got the same issue...some times I got no lags in audio streaming, but sometimes they are there...until it (maybe) will be fixed I'm using a widget, my cousin has coded for me yesterday . Quite simple solution. If I press the button, wifi turns off and bt turns on...works fine for me, so far

[FIX] Possilbe A2DP Streaming Workaround

Stuttering and skipping streaming are very known issues on many jelly bean devices.
The most times when I listen to music in my car, i do this via bluetooth. So it is really annoying me and some day, I will have an accident, while I am fumbling with my HTC One.
I replaced the audio.a2dp.default.so with one of the Nexus 4 (4.2.2) and it just worked well, but only the first time using bluetooth streaming after rebooting the device.
I changed some settings in audio.conf and it still stutters.
But then, i deactived wifi while the device was streaming and all stuttering and skipping was gone.
So... can someone just confirm, whether the a2dp streaming works correctly, when wifi is deactived?
I want to know, whether this is the only point to get this work and I don't want to change my working mess
is nobody interested in this?
I posted this bluetooth issue a while back on this forum, and the issue is corrected by switching off WIFI while using BT. Apparently the new update which is due soon fixes the issue but only one user has confirmed that so far.
Since I use bluetooth streaming on the car mainly, I use Tasker so that when Bluetooth connects, it automatically switches WIFI off (don't need WIFI while driving and saves battery), and when it disconnects it switches it back on. This way the phone just works seamlessly.
Just turning the wifi off and back on again when I connect bluetooth seems to solve this issue for me.
i can confirm - turning wifi on/off fixes it as well for me (until next time I go bluetooth)
I discovered this a couple of weeks ago too. I was about to send it back too. Cant live without podcasts and audible in the car!
I have the problem that i cant even here any sound on my HTC CAR A100 Car Stereo Clip, even if wlan is deactivated With my old sensation everything is okey..

I wonder if this also improves the bitpool value. I'm noticing on my HTC One that bluetooth streaming quality is not very good. From what I've read it has to do with a bitpool value that it set too low, increasing this value is supposed to increase the streaming quality. Highs sound distorted on my phone over BT I can't believe Google/HTC have not addressed this issue.
I have not been able to solve the bluetooth audio streaming issue by turning off WiFi for my car. It works perfectly fine with my Jambox even with WiFi turned on, but in the car, it does not work either way and I'm using software version 1.29.401.13

Did you manage to fix the problem with the A100 as mine is exactly the same, works fine on my Sensation but no the HTC One.
have the same problem:
If wifi is ON and bluetooth is ON, eg at streaming youtube over the bluetooth headset, it stutters and has distortions.
If wifi is OFF and stream a video from the sdcard over bluetooth all is fine.
what i find out:
I use the JellyBean from Quarkx for defy.
The build from 7.3.2013 worked
All later builds, with the new wifi driver had this problem.
But its a known bug that JellyBean has a2dp issues, i guess.
This trick, to change audio.a2dp doesnt helped me
I didn't noticed any problem with my phone even when the wifi ON, I'm using the latest radio "4A.16.3250.24_10.38.1150.03L" found in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2245615
I don't know if it can help..

[Q] Car bluetooth connection problem

My car has built in bluetooth connectivity with 2 modes, telephone and media.
Both modes cannot be connected at the same time.
The telephone mode works fine, but the media player mode always fails to connect.
I've had no problems in the past with my SGS1.
I've tried resetting the profiles. I'm on the .350 stock rom but I've added root.
Not sure what I can do now to fix this.
I guess I could upgrade but I'm not sure if it would actually fix the problem.
Does anyone have any ideas?
BTW the car is a Toyota Prius.

Try repairing it with Sony's PC Companion or Sony's Update Service first.
Remember to backup your stuff before proceeding.
Do full wipes.
Update. The Bluetooth pairing with my car is still very buggy.
A quick google search reveals others are having issues too.
I hope Sony address this issue soon.
I'm not having problems with my Bluetooth unit in the car. It connects to both Phone and Media Server. (I have a Kenwood DNX unit)
So I'm still having problems.
The update to 4.2.2 did not help.
So I tried switching to CyanogenMod but the problem persists.
My other phone also running CM has no problems connecting to the telephone and media mode (Samsung Galaxy i9000) so it has to be something going wrong in this phone.
I'm out of ideas. Toyota say it's not a car fault as other phones connect fine.
New Toyotas have a system that's called Touch'n'Go and I managed to test this phone on that and both modes worked fine.
I guess there is an incompatibility between this phone and a perhaps slightly older Bluetooth module in the car. The car is from 2010.
Would be grateful for any ideas.

CM 12.1 droid turbo Bluetooth calling not working

I recently flashed CyanogenMod 12.1 nightly on my droid turbo. I Have had a good user experience so far, although there is only one issue that is really effecting my decision of using this ROM as my daily driver. My phone has no audio during Bluetooth calling and the microphone is not working as well. I'm not sure if this is a known issue or if there is a fix available at this time. I would greatly appreciate any responses in this thread troubleshooting the issue, so we can all resume safe hands-free driving.

Do you happen to be using the 11/29 nightly? I haven't tried any other newer release yet, but I have been able to successfully connect via bluetooth to my car and stream audio. I've had no indication of it failing. The one thing that got me at first when connecting to my car and streaming was that bluetooth has it's own volume control (which I turned up to maximum on my phone). I'm not sure that would explain the microphone though (if it's even related to your issue).

Depends on the bluetooth device you have. My Jawbone ICON earpiece works fine, and my Pioneer car stereo makes calls fine. Other people have had some issues. The dev says he needs a logcat for missing bluetooth configurations.

And you've gone into the phone audio settings (when it's connected) to make sure your mic audio, etc wasn't turned down? Audio settings change when Bluetooth is connected...
I use Volume Control Plus and put a shortcut on the desktop so I have quick access to all the phone volume settings.

yes I have made sure it is turned up on the head unit and the phone when connected and I have also tested when in a call selecting Bluetooth toggling back and forth from ear piece speaker but no change
This is why I ditched cm12.1 and went back to stock. My bt headset worked with music but no phone calls.

Car head unit bluetooth audio skipping / cutting

I recently switched from a Nexus 5X to a Sony Xperia XZ2 (H8276). With the 5X the bluetooth was perfect but with the XZ2 the audio skips every so often (music stops for like half a second, then the music speeds up to catch-up) and it's driving me nuts since I use it every day for my commute to work. However it does work perfectly on other bluetooth devices like a portable speaker and other cars.
Things I've tried:
- Resetting the phone
- Resetting the network settings
- Rebooting and turning on/off bluetooth
- Re-pairing multiple times
- Disabling Bluetooth location scanning
- Deleting bluetooth data and cache
- Multiple audio apps
- Removing bluetooth and audio app from battery optimisations
- Disabling wifi
- Changing codecs and connection quality in the developer options (seems to help but not completely and the settings resets on a reboot)
The phone has the most recent update, version 8.0.0 build number 51.1.A.11.26.
Maybe the XZ2 is not correctly selecting the connection settings or codecs to use with the speaker?
Any ideas how I could troubleshoot this even more? I am hoping the next android update will fix this..

Wow, I never saw a H8276.
Hardware Revision is on the Smartphone Box in which it got delivered.
Maybe you want to install the H8266 Firmware on it?
I reported the bluetooth PIE bug and SONY redirected it to the developers.
Audio stuttering with a bluetooth 4.0 device (ThinkPad T440P), while the bluetooth 4.1 device (ThinkPad T460P) is running fine.
Update: After the OTA update to Android 9.0 my issue disappeared!
