WiFi calling on custom roms? - OnePlus 3T Questions & Answers

This is a feature on Nexus phones. I wonder if it's possible for devs to implement wifi calling for T-Mobile on custom ROMs?

After a long time, I finally was able to activate wifi calling on a custom rom. I tested this on latest phoenix AEX ROM.
Go to the build prop and add the following lines
persist.dbg.volte_avail_ovr=1
persist.dbg.vt_avail_ovr=1
persist.data.iwlan.enable=true
persist.dbg.wfc_avail_ovr=1
Make sure your build prop doesn't already include any of those lines
Then Reboot
After booting up go to settings, more, and there should be a section for wifi calling there so enable it. This worked for me on Mint Sim which is a T-Mobile mvno so I am not sure about other carriers

? does Not work for the OnePlus One.

AT&T Volte

I'm coming from a HTC 10. Volte worked on that device. I can't find anywhere to turn it on with the 3t. Does it support 3t for At&T?

Really? That would be great, AT&T told me only for select devices sold by them.

Did it happen yet? Thanks.
There is a thread on how to edit a few things to enable volte and wifi calling, just search a little
Juste change these lines in system/build.prop:
#ifdef VENDOR_EDIT
persist.dbg.ims_volte_enable=1
persist.dbg.volte_avail_ovr=1
persist.dbg.vt_avail_ovr=1
persist.data.iwlan.enable=true
persist.dbg.wfc_avail_ovr=1
#endif*
Reboot and enable Volte in parameters: SIM and Network.
Enjoy

I believe that enables the option in the settings menu but whether or not it works on AT&T is a different story, no? I tried that and even with the option enabled I wasn't getting VoLTE with my GoPhone SIM.

I recommend OB8 or Oxygen 4.1.5, but, obviously if the Volte service is not provided by AT&T, it will not work !!

What if you enable it like that on the phone, then call AT&T and give them an imei of lets say a AT&T branded S7 and have them update your imei and iccid with that combo while the sim is in the OP3/OP3T?
Edit: That is how I do it on my Windows 10 mobile unlocked phones. I provision the sw settings and configuration. Then I have them update my imei of a Lumia 950 for ATT. After a reboot ims registers and I have HD voice.

Well I also have a Nexus 5X running on AT&T, whose IMEI was added to their servers when I transferred from T-Mobile, and the 5X doesn't show HD Voice or VoLTE either.
I guess one would need an AT&T unit (not a factory unlocked one) to get that working?
@EVR_PR
If it would actually work for an unlocked Android for ATT like it does for my on a unlocked W10M device. Then all you need is the imei of HD Voice/VoLTE compatible branded ATT android phone. I was planning on buying a used 3t and am wanting to know this info before I spend the money...

If some specific Modem software or carrier code specific info is needed on an Android device, then maybe only enabling the toggles does not work like said before...
For galaxy devices there is a csc file you can flash to the unlocked model to get it working. Not sure how the partitions/sw is built out on the OP3/3t and if some other sw is needed other then toggling it in a prop file...
So even an imei update may not even matter.

Verizon WiFi Calling

So, Verizon says that they can't provide WiFi calling, however, the new radio supports it.
Any way to force the network to provision our Nexus 6 phones for WiFi calling?

I also couldn't figure it out.

I have a SM-G950U1, what am I missing on t-mobile?

Is my phone using 100% of t-mobile network features? If not, is it possible to get them? When I put my SIM in it said it was configuring for t-mobile.
You shouldn't be missing anything. I have a 950U1 as well and get my mobile hotspot, VoLTE, and WiFi Calling just fine.
I think the only thing missing is built in Digits.

Do you have VoLTE or wifi calling? Both are standard (should be, anyways) with any S7 or S8 on the UnCarrier (yes - Note8 too); I have both on my ex-VZW S7 running Project L V.4 (which is now on the UnCarrier). Project L is based on the G950 (S8) firmware, so you should lack neither feature.

On my T-Mobile S8 that I have flashed with the SM-G950U1 firmware, I have WiFi calling but I do not see any options in my call settings for VoLTE and the built in Digits function is missing. On previous phones I had to turn VoLTE off because of calls droping, so I am not missing much. and VoLTE.
Edit: It does have VoLTE. The setting have been moved to the "Mobile Networks" setting area.

Wifi-Calling on Global Mi8

Hey guys,
yesterday I got my new Mi 8 <3 It's really nice...
I wanted to check if I can use wifi calling, but there is no option for it in settings. I can search for it but there is only text as you can see in the screenshot.
I checked the "hidden menu" under *#*#4636#*#* but the option is greyed out, too.
I'm living in Germany with Vodafone and wifi calling is included in my plan.
Any hints? Is wifi calling working for you?
Thanks
I think the Mi8 is not supported by Vodafone.
I don't get it :/ Other Xiaomi phones are working, too. I thought Xiaomi have to implement the profiles? I don't know why this is always so hard, Android does support VoWifi since some major versions natively
It was one point, why I bought the Mi8 instead of the OP6. I hope it will get it fast

Hey man thank you very much for this. I tried it and it seems that is working. Νow in the signal bars I have a HD which I guess is because of Wi-Fi calling.
Hi Baddevil2!
Did you eventually manage to get WiFi Calling working with Vodafone Germany?

No, "HD" usually means VoLTE which is a completely different thing. Could you please try to enable flight mode and after that ONLY enable WiFi? If you are still able to make / receive calls, than WiFi Calling is working.
Tried build.prop change, Wifi-Calls enabled and preferred *#*#4636#*#* shows the switch enabled, but (three dots - IMS status) shows VoWifi "not available". VoLTE works same as before (without build.prop tweak). I checked both O2 and Vodafone Germany.
Seems there is no solution for VoWifi at the moment.
Come on, don't destroy my hopes Too bad...

My friend I don't think that the Wi-Fi calling works like that. The phone must recognize that you have sim card in your phone. I think that If you enable the aeroplane mode the phone doesn't recognize the SIM card. I am not 100% sure thought.
Yesterday I tried it with latest Xiaomi.eu rom and Magisk Module (to write build.prop entries).
I can enable VoWIFI in settings but if I try to call someone from wifi I only get an error message.
Very sad that it not work
Did anyone get this working?
I'm using Mi8 in UK on "Three" & "EE" - neither support the handset.
Can it be forced to work? Point me in the right direction if possible. Thanks
On MIUI ROMs it's not possible to get it to work. I installed Pixel3ROM some minutes ago and try to enable it there
Please keep us updated!
I didn't know it is possible to use different types of ROM on the phone.
Of course it's possible, but at the moment it still doesn't work Maybe I have to try another ROM
I'm on eu rom. when i install volte enabler magisk module (in repo), i got wifi calling feature in sim settings which actually works
On Xiaomi.eu ROM? I get Wifi-Calling switch, but phone does not register with IMS (Vodafone Germany).
Can you provide screenshot of ims status?

i have exactly the same problem in greece,the 4 last mobiles like note 9,op 5t and 7 pro,p30 pro works perfect with cosmote carrier on volte and wificalling mode,but with pixel 4 xl not working.i didn't find solution on the whole network
Google is just ignoring most VoLTE networks by not providing needed configs on their phones.

Carrier should add the profile of Pixel 4 to enable VoLTE. No VoLTE is working in HK for Pixel 4 device unless they do so.

I don't think so, VoLTE works on my Galaxy Note3 with flashed rom that supports VoLTE although my network didn't list and have VoLTE for Note3
From what i know strongly carrier dependant. If they did not enable it for the device, i cannot enable it
There was a way to enable VoLTE on my previous Asus Rog phone 2 using root. My carrier didn't support it before but it worked using that hack. Don't know if the same will work on pixel..

I am on google fi. Both my wife 3axl and my 4xl show volte as on but greyed out. So I cant change it. I dont know if that means its actually on or not. And it shows vowifi not available and vidio over lte not avaliable. Does anyone know if I am actually on volte?

If you are on LTE out of call, you making a call and you stay on LTE, then you have VoLTE.
Ah thank you. I do belive that I am on volte. It does continue to show lte when on a callat least most of the time. sometimes it kicks back to hspa+ but not too much. The weird thing for me is why no vowif. I thougt wifi calling was a given at this point especially with tmo. I have signal spy and I use it to force tmo all the time. Sprint sucks in my area but for some reason the phone wants to default to sprint. I did the tests in a number of sports around my area and sprint gets like average 8 mbps download while tmo gets like 30 or 40mbps download. Thats a big difference. This is my second time on fi. I had it when it first came out with my nexus 6p and it always stayed on tmo. never switched to sprint. so fi changed something.
Has anyone figured out this issue? I am on redpocket with GSMA (ie AT&T). They have told me over and over that volte and WIFI calling is enabled - neither option is available. (same with a note10+, pixel 3 XL).
Thanks!

Have you tried the mentioned method?
I have magisk on Canary build and i am not able to find advanced settings to set "preserve avb 2.0/dm-verity" in first steps.
Also I tried to apply the codes at the end of the instructions to enable Diag mode but it is not working
I am on latest Android 11 beta 3

For the A11 beta's there aren't any userdebug vendor images anyway, so you can't do that step. On A11 Beta 3 I know QPST works with the given ADB commands at the bottom of the quoted post, but I couldn't get QXDM to show anything but it's a pretty old version. I do not know about PDC.
