LG Watch Sport - Pay DOES work on rooted phone - LG Watch Sport

Just FYI. My pixel is unlocked and rooted. Pay does not work directly on the phone. It DOES work via the LG watch, however. Just paid using it tonight. Very surprised.

Interesting. And unexpected. And good.

That's awesome, although my Pixel XL is unlocked and rooted and Android Pay still works with Magisk, but this is definitely good to know.

That's amazing news! I had given up hope of rooting my Pixel because I use Android Pay rather frequently... but since this seems to work, my newly arrived LG Watch Sport will get some extra use !!

when I try to open Android Pay on my watch it says "Can't Connect" To finish setup make sure your phone is on and nearby. The phone is sitting right next to the watch, and Android wear says it's connected. Also Android pay is setup on my phone just fine. Anyone have any Ideas?

Just tried to set up watch on pixel 2 xl with unlocked bootloader and couldn't set up pay.

Is you watch in beta? Android Pay for watch does not work in beta.

[Q] Google Wallet

Will the Nexus 6 support Google Wallet Tap and Pay? I'm assuming that it will. I'm on T-Mobile and currently have the Note 3 which they are blocking from working with Google Wallet. Since this is a Google device, I'm hoping that Tap and Pay will work. I'm tired of the Isis/SofCard stuff especially since it doesn't work with rooted phones.
It will surely work!

The Note 3 isn't blocked. The NFC chip in the Note 3 doesn't have support for Host Card Emulation in KitKat.
Google not supporting Google Wallet fully on their own branded device would be silly. Especially with Apple Pay now on the scene. There is a 99.999% chance that it will work..
Use it all the time without fail on my g3. Should be awesome bumping a big screen TV to the pay pass device.

I'm using Isis on my rooted Note 3: I used an Xposed module called RootCloak. 'Worked like a charm.
Got mine yesterday and setup Wallet, Tap & Pay is working as expected.
Yeah I used it yesterday and I'm on ATT
I've been having a lot of trouble using sofcard since rooting in my note 3. Root cloak does NOT work. But the root cloak module with xposed did the trick. It now works flawlessly.

Since this is the nexus 6 forums and is running lollipop. Xposed does not work on our device.
To answer op, Google wallet works without any problems although you should note that some companies have disabled Nfc payments due to their partnership with that company, I forget on the top of my head but search for cvs Google wallet

That would be awesome!
Been using Wallet since I got the phone last week from ATT. I wish I got a buck for; "Oh is that the new iPhone 6?" comments, Apple did invent paying via NFC after all.
^ Lmao, just had this happen this morning.
Just to be clear... It sounds like the op is talking about tap and pay, which is one of many features of google wallet. Subsequent answers seem to be making the assumption that google wallet IS tap and pay, which is patently untrue. Google wallet works fabulously on old non-NFC iphones for example... Its just that the tap and pay feature doesnt.
In answer to whether gw tap and pay works on the n6, it works fine. But beware if you are into custom roms... Last i looked, there were no AOSP roms besides stock google, in which tap and pay works without kludgey workarounds if at all.
My att n6 is rooted but othwise stock and i used gw tap and pay in the verizon store to buy something for my brother, and in the tmobile store to buy something for my wife.
I used gw tap and pay at CVS and Walgreen's a few months ago on my 4.4.2 note 2 and it worked fine. But I've heard the drug stores are might be trying to do something that might block he tap and pay.

Latest OTA firmware?

I am planning to buy a nexus 6. I dont have plan to get it root. If you guys using Nexus 6 not rooted, what is the latest firmware you have? What month and what version 7.x.x? Thanks in advance.

Thank you. But is this by doing manually check thru phone? Or need to sideload using a computer? Because idk how to do the sideload. Id rather let the OTA from my phone.
Sent from my SM-G950U1 using Tapatalk
If you depend on OTA, you might never get past 7.0. One of my N6 is still on 7.0, the other I applied the OTA file to and it is on 7.1.1 - though I have to keep up with the security updates myself.
My devices are unlocked stock but not rooted. Maybe that is why they never get OTA's anymore.
Try https://www.androidpit.com/nexus-pixel-android-update#installing
It's easy.

Oh really? So the latest OTA thru phone might be the 7.0? The 7.1.1 that you get, that is because you sideload it using the Pc? I am scared to do the sideload coz i might brick the phone thats why i rather let the phone OTA do the thing.

Download toolkit on your computer and plug your phone into it. Make a backup so you can fall back on that if you mess something up but its pretty basic.

I wouldn't. It may work fine on a clean flash but it won't last you long after that. Might be a couple weeks, might be a couple months. It just can't keep up with a newer phone. Also, how come you're looking for a Nexus 6 when your signature says you're using a Galaxy S8? Not trying to bash your decision to switch to an older, less-capable phone, but I'm curious why you'd downgrade.

I think it still ok with a daily basic task, like calling texting, some browsing and waze? Thats all i need for a phone. I got 3 nexus 6, 1 gave to my dad, 1 to my mom which is now broken, and moto charged me 175 to replaced another n6 which i am gonna use when it come. And 1 n6 i used before then sold it for n6p. Then sold the 6p, bought s7edge, sold it and now bought 3 s8. 1 mom tmobile, 1 wife tmobile, 1 for me unlocked version. Planning to return my s8 or sell it again and use the older n6 when it arrives. Idk but i really like smoothness of the pure android and monthly updates. Which i am aware n6 wont get anymore. Which is fine. S8 is good phone smoother than previous touchwiz. But still got some laggy comparr to nexus. I think i am still good for another couple of years with the basic tasks for the n6. Hopefully.

I mean I guess it'll be ok just for basic stuff, but even touchwiz on newer phones blows the Nexus 6 out of the water. If it were unlocked and cheap enough I'd make you an offer on your S8 but I'm perfectly happy with my Note 5, haha. Good luck.

Question about the Google Ast button.

I came from a samsung phone where you take the bixby button and make it do other things... is there any apps that can do that for the lg..
No, not until we get a bootloader unlock. Damned superficial feature, if you ask me. Whatever happened to assigning a long-press home button to activate the assistant?

This is incredibly sad that this (potentially) awesome phone is handcuffed by LG and making it less and less desirable every day ... not just for potentially new buyers, but for those of us who loved the V10 and V20's.
I've stopped that button from activating google assistant as it was only intrusive - but now I've a button that's a dead-button and I hate the "non-functionality" of something that could be quite useful for something else.
Can't wait for an unlocked bootloader! ! ! !

It's sad that LG has been my phone from the V10, V20 (here and Euro), and had a temp V35 till the V40 came out and loved them all ... EXCEPT ... this V40.
Too much wonky crap going on. Apps don't work well on it. SwiftKey, anything Cleeng (they suck as an App developer, even worse on V40), video's from iPhones, notification resets, doesn't fit well on any wireless charging cradle and the list goes on.
Samsung offering $550 plus a set of ear-buds (good ones) to trade in for the Galaxy S10. Sure it's going to be locked up like a bank vault, but that offer includes unlocked versions so I can switch carriers AND it doesn't come with bloatware.
It's a serious consideration for me.

At least all third-party Apps worked on it and the basic tech of the phone worked when you made a change. For me it's more about the functionality ... I can adapt to the few idiosyncrasies of the Sammy line to get a phone that doesn't have the user "UNFRIENDLY" issues the V40 does. LOLOL

Glad I read this, I was about to get the 4 XL for pdanet usage via USB tethering option. Not gonna work for me. Bummer. /end excitement.
It's working perfectly for me. Unlocked Pixel 4XL from Best Buy on Verizon. PDANet+ Ver. 5.22.1. I'm bootloader unlocker and rooted with Magisk. Also followed the native tethering guide here https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-4-xl/how-to/how-to-native-tethering-rooted-pixel-4-t3993405. I previously used it on my Note 8 and had to do WPS to connect because it changed the password every time I believe since the Note 8 was unrooted. I have FoxFi key installed but not FoxFi. It's not being throttled either. Getting 60-70Mbps down 10Mbps up
I haven't been rooted in years. Perhaps that's the way but I never used to have to do that I don't think. Nonetheless I'm glad it's working for you.

The link you provided has nothing to do with PDAnet. Does that work if you're not rooted? I actually forgot what the problem was that I had, maybe it was a licensing issue? I paid for it many years ago so maybe they wanted another subscription fee? I have a Verizon plan that includes the hotspot even though it's probably throttled. I'm just curious if it still works, I even still have my license key. Years ago when hotels were charging $10 or so / night for internet access it was a savior.

Then it's just because of the level of security used for Gpay. I don't personally mind, my face unlock is lightning. I came from my Pixel 2 XL and the face unlock has been faster with a higher rate of success than the fingerprint scanner on my old Pixel.

For vending machines it's alright since it's face up but those flat terminals I have to tap, lift, verify, confirm and then re-tap. I know it's little but when I first got the phone it didn't have that extra confirmation since the phone was already unlocked.

Just got back from my local 7 eleven and I used my Gpay to see how mine behaved and paying using the actual Gpay app, I did not have to scan my face again. Also I completely forgot about the Gpay shortcut I have enabled and once unlocked, I can instantly bring up my credit/debit cards and pay from any screen or app by holding the power button. I have a gen 5 Carlyle too. What authorization are you talking about? Setting up a card for the watch takes several steps but once it's done, Google Pay is just a swipe and tap away for me. I turn on the screen (I keep "always-on screen" option on and tilt-to-wake off), swipe down, and tap the Pay icon. My default card pops up and I just put it close to the tap the pay area. Even quicker is putting Google Pay on a watchface but I don't use it enough to do that. I would rather have something like battery, weather, or Google Health info.

What happens to me is that I need to put on an authorization method on the watch. Either a pin or password and anytime I use the watch, even if it's not for GP, it asks for the pin code or pwd. Even if I go to check notifications I have to put in my pin. I don't use always on but I do use tilt to wake. You think I need to change that in order for it to be easier to use? I'm going to check Reddit now too see what they suggest or if anyone is having issues like I am.

It's very annoying. I think one of the problems is that I use my metal watchband a lot and it's kind of loose on my wrist, purposely so. So it might think it's off my wrist when it slides around. Seems like others are having the same issue but I'll look into it further. I have always used my phone for GP anyway so it's not a huge deal but it would be cool to be able to use it.

It's very annoying. I think one of the problems is that I use my metal watchband a lot and it's kind of loose on my wrist, purposely so. So it might think it's off my wrist when it slides around. It being loose most likely the issue. I have a metal band and although I don't work out with it, I keep it snug enough that it doesn't lock yet loose enough that it can slide a little.

That's what it is. I put on my black band and it seems to be staying unlocked now.

I used both those commands and the position of the power menu changed to the bottom but my cards don't show up at the top to rotate through. I uninstalled and reinstalled Google pay. I still have to do the 2nd confirmation in order to use Google pay.
