[Q] New to HTC One and need your help with HK phone

Hi Forum people,
I just got my HTC one from HK, it seems that the phone has been changed to sim unlock, while contacting the seller I have been told by him: "since this phone is international unlocked version , We don't advise you to update the OS.
Because after you do that it will be locked again". AND ALSO "there is no need to update the system.but you can update the software".
It also seems that the phone is a test phone what does it mean????
After reading several topics here in the forums I succeed to unlock the boot-loader using HTCdev.
I attached pictures before unlocking the boot-loader.
I have few dumb questions:
1. can I upgrade the software from 4.2.2???
2. will my phone remain sim unlock after the upgrade???
3.what does it means test phone??

I recommend you try as many as you can, and see which one fits your needs.... many of them have a lot of tweaks and some less. it's really a personal choice of what "works for you", they are all good, you just need to find the one that works best for you

So why do you want to put a custom rom if you only want ''something that works'' ?
Stay with stock rom and update it to latest version and you'll be fine

what about the rom already installed on your phone? Its a stock rom right? And it can be updated to 4.3 for sure (maybe 4.4.2 idk) and will probably get sense 6 when it will be released.

the message you have about the phone being a test device is because its s-off. Don't you have a option to check updates in setting --> about --> software updates?

its a nandroid backup image , just copy the zip file to ur nandroid backups location and restore.. i am using it right now and its the best rom i've tried on HTC Butterfly S

This Rom used for butterfly s 901 e are not. My phone: firware: 2.16 Rom using musHD 13.0

i dont know about the firmware version ,, but i was using Maximus 13.0.0 and i restored the nandroid and it worked without any problem ...

My LP kernel will work.. my butterfly s screen burnt out.. otherwise I'd still be here deving

the xxminiwhooperxx kernel for lp work as well just note that if your phone is s-on , you must quiet from installation ( dont touch finish ) and reset manually

It's for 901E & 901S, you need the last TWRP and S-OFF, no root, it's a stock rom.

Yep I did it, and system looks to be rooted, but Titanium Backup wont work, and if I type "su" from ADB shell I see the famous error message: "only position independent executables (PIE) are supported"

Tried a new screen weeks ago and no go.. I think it's the mother board... no sense in fixing it.

Ok, remade with xXminiWHOOPERxX kernel (Thanks once again) and SuperSU Beta 2.49, now root is perfect.

Anyway compass don't work in this ROM, at least in my phone...
Edit: Compass is ok with original kernel.

No, you can only flash roms that are compatible with your phone variant i.e: M7CDx
There is almost no development for the dual sim variant. Look in the 4-5 threads dedicated to this variant in the general section and maybe you'll find something but afaik, there are only old roms there. Maybe you'll be able to find something on an Asian website.

The 7.17.720.6 Lollipop RUU might work on your phone, its hard to tell since your version-main is missing from the getvar (often caused by twrp wiping it from the /misc partition). Try to flash it and report back if there is any error.

BTW, you can't downgrade using a RUU since your phone is still S-ON hence why I'm giving you a link to a 5.0.2 RUU and not a 4.2.2 version.

Well if you want to improve something, I wouldn't go 5 android versions back...
There isn't much development for that variant so forget about using custom roms and kernels. The Xposed framework with some modules like Amplify/Deep sleep/Wake lock detector might help. You can also use the power saver mode and dim your screen brightness. You can use Tasker to crate a battery friendly profiles.

i have installed xposed installer but in framework it says latest version of xposed is currently not active

Why version 67? The latest one is 80 so use this one. The M7 is using an arm cpu so you need the arm version and the sdk version is the android version installed on your phone. If your are running a 5.0.2 rom you need version 80 / arm / sdk21

So? SDK22 = Android Lollipop (5.1.x). ARM64-v8a should then be arm64.
Alternatively, you could use the systemless Xposed, which will automatically install the correct version.

King root will not success in first time , u have to try multiple times ..
sometimes it will restart your phone ,

that's what I was talking about in another thread about firehouse for axon 9 with this you can flash twrp, make backup partitions etc ... only the developer knows how to program it to flash partitions

A working TWRP would be nice
