Help me to Unbrick my Phone! - G 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys! So I hard bricked my moto g2 when I flashed stock 5.0.2 rom and then tried updating it to stage fright update. I can't boot into anything. I did try to find a solution for this but all of them are quite confusing. Some posts say there is no way to bring the phone back and some just are confusing so please help me get my phone back. I wanna give it my last shot before I take it to service center.

I'm Also Facing same problem

Given that lenovo is not providing the blankflash file, what other options am I left with other than taking it to a service center. Any clue how much it may cost?

But what happened? It boots in fastboot? Press Vol- and Power and keep pressed, then release them and it goes in fastboot.
Or it is always off? You can try pressing power button and keep it pressed a lot of time, Motorola says i remember 20 seconds, but hold till 30/40 seconds and it force boot.
If it's always off, i don't know, but if you can go in fastboot you can try to flash a rom. Flash Marshmallow.
Take a look to this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/general/official-stock-firmware-t3018682

I'd be glad if I could go into fastboot. I've tried all above mentioned tricks and more with no result.

Same here!

Is it stuck at the white HTC splash screen that says quietly brilliant or the boot up animation screen that has the beats logo on it?
If stuck at the splash screen just hold power and both volume keys to force a reboot and see if it boots up then. If it is stuck during the boot animation you may have to try a factory reset.
You may still be able to do a factory reset depending on where the update failed.
Hold power and Vol down for until it boots into the bootloader. Then press the power button again to select bootloader. In the bootloader list you should see factory rest, use volume keys to highlight it and power to select it.
This will wipe all your data you had saved on the internal storage, but that would be better than a non booting phone.
Best of luck.

Yes, a proper RUU should be able to reset you to 100% stock if your weren't rooted or S-Off.

Was everything 100% stock?
Eg. Stock recovery , kernel?
Sent from my One using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Read this:

Unfortuanlty it looks like the bugsylawson.com site where the RUU's served is down right now.

Crushalot I have a similar issue with my HTC one like xiang5377. Except my phone is stock no root nothing, actually it was given to me to root. It has been a long time since I have rooted a phone and im lost here. My friend got the phone online which might have been his first mistake, second I believe it was from China. In any case lt me explain what has gone on, I have been looking for instructions in unlocking bootloader in fastboot mode which is not an issue, I found it but I am unable to get to the bootloader by pressing power key and VOL down.....strange so I looked under settings to turn off fastboot and the option wasn't there at all. When I press VOl down and power key it goes to some strange looking menue in Chinese REALY! OK so I searched Google and fopund a post that suggested it might be a fake. So I tried VOL up and power key and it took me another strange looking screen. I actually had the option for "normal" "fastboot" and something else:fingers-crossed: Nothin stayed at that same screen for ever....so I pressed VOl down and power and it reset. I went back to that screen gain picked the one option should not have and now im stuck at htc quietly brilliant sceen:crying: I have tried all kinds of key options and still nothing NED HELP!! I am unsure if the phone is internal sprint T-Mobile etc... 100% stock.

Might need some screen shots. It sounds like it may be a fake HTC One. Can you look at the bootloader screen on this fake and see if yours is similar:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2362301
Or look here:
http://www.engadget.com/2013/07/14/fake-htc-one-plastic-mt6589/
If it is one the fakes then I'm not sure what to advise other than trying to return it and get a genuine unit.
If it is real then we might be able to do something. Are you able to reboot it by holding both volumes (up and down) plus the power buttons for 15+ seconds? It should cause it to reboot.

NO joy on reboot. I looked at that video and it seems to be the fake one, might explain why I wasn't able to get to the bootloader normally. This sucks now I will have to explain to my lieutenant that he got a fake one and I might have bricked it lol! What would you try next if it were real, or will I have to wait till it dies and still run the risk of it not booting up normally again. I was never able to get to normal bootloader.
---------- Post added at 04:51 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:45 PM ----------
Also looking at the video, it had the same black menu not the white menu I have seen in other videos, indicating a newer OS. It also did not show fastboot option under settings/power option
http://imageupload.co.uk/files/36ha7p8hdv926l90b0l6.jpg
On the pic above I actually clicked on: [UART Boot] option and im stuck
If it was real, it would respond to the normal reboot commands and allow us to reboot the OS if working or boot to fastboot so we can use fastboot commands to see exactly what we were working with and decide the next move.
In you case, you may just have to wait until the battery dies and then perhaps it will boot normally, as it seems the clones don't have the same button commands to perform operations. You could try different combinations of button holding to see if it will reboot.
There may also be some more information on the Chinese forums, but could be hard for a English speaker to navigate and fin the info needed.
If the seller sold the device as a genuine HTC One then, obviously that is illegal and you could try to use that angle to force them to return it.
Best of luck.

Thanks I really do appreciate it, I have attempted several button configs lol and still nothing. Looks like I have no choice but to wait till it dies and pray that it boots normally. Here is what he did...
Unlocked bootloader
installed recovery through TWRP via playstore
then installed CM Lollipop,Stuck on CM logo..bootloop
so flashed STOCK firmware for XT1052
finally stuck in warning bootloader
I have XT1052 model

Does the phone boot up normally other than the Unlocked Bootloader Warning Message? If so, you're just fine. Anytime the Bootloader is unlocked, that warning message just comes up every time you boot up your phone. There is a way to get it off but right now I can't think of where I found it. You can definitely Google it and you'll find your answer there.

That's the problem here! it doesnt bootup !!
Stuck at Warning Bootloader.. !!
And yeah already googled it..there is a way to remove the Bootscreen for warning message!
You can boot in recovery mode to restore your rom.
If you lose TWRP. You can flash recovery by fastboot mode.
You also can backup your phone's data to OTG usb drive by TWRP.
So, the main point is : Can you boot into fastboot mode?
Calm down!

I was just asking because it wasn't clear in your first message. No need to get all worked up over it. I got my phone all messed up a few days after I got it and thanks to some posts on this forum, I was able to get it all straightened out and it doesn't take too terribly long to do it either.
Try following this link to see if you can get your phone out of its funk. This is one that I found doing a quick search on this site. You said that your phone was a XT1052 model right? The URL is http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/stock-recovery-4-4-4-xt1052-t2945946.
Hope that this helps you out. There's another link that was a life saver for me. I'll post it once I find it.

I think this is nothing serious. This has happened to me a couple of times when I was testing my ROMs before for the Desire X and Desire Z. It's just, maybe there's just nothing to boot (correct me if I'm wrong). Just try following this dude's guide on how to return to stock maybe it would help you to get your phone back up and running. Good luck!
Thanks a lot mates!! very pleased for your time !!
Looks all the soutions are possible ones..will surely give it a try!
By the way, I think the phone needs to be charged to flash!

Now I have no idea about what you can do about getting your battery to charge up. Have you tried charging this up on different outlets to see if it may be the outlet that you're plugging it into? There are times that I've had charging issues with my phones because of the outlet I was using.
Too bad this phone has a non-removable battery or I would tell you to get a new battery and see if this helps solve some of your issues. To me, it looks like a call in to Motorola's tech support may be in order. Now one thing that they will ask you and you really need to make sure you've done this is "Are you using the charger that came with the phone?" That's the first thing that they'll have you do and if you've already done that, you can honestly tell them yes when they ask you about that. Also, how long have you had this phone? If it's been less than a year, it may be under warranty if your phone is a developer edition. If you have a developer edition phone, unlocking the bootloader does NOT void the warranty. It only voids the warranty on the non-developer edition phones.
Just some information that you may need when you call tech support. Hope that this helps you out.
Cindy
Im using stock charger only!
now powering it in FASTBOOT... its been an hour again...still indicates battery low!
Thanks for your help all of you!
Twrp will charge the phone while you're in recovery and to flash cm 12.1 or 12 try booting cm11 then dirty flash cm12 and it should boot for you
the problem is when i select recovery it comes back to warning screen''
so to flash anyother recovery.. first i need to charge up..because it doesnt allow to flash in cmd...and in AP FASTBOOT it shows battery is low!

Hold down the power and down volume buttons for about 30 seconds. When you release both buttons this should bring you to a bootloader screen where you have choices like normal boot, boot recovery and the like. Hook the phone to a computer via usb and with adb on that computer flash twrp to the phone...
Fastboot flash recovery twrpfilename.img
Once that is flashed you should be able to go into recovery and get into twrp which will allow the phone to charge
It MIGHT even charge from that bootloader screen I never tried
thanks for that idea dude!
but it doesnt flash...it tells ..flash failure because of low battery
then i tried charging in fastboot!
doesnt work
In which android version was your phone when you started? When you tried to return to stock, which version of Android did you flash?
I guess maybe you downgraded your phone which causes hard bricks.

Yes, if you power off and THEN plug the charger in, it will power back on.
Power it off by pressing and holding the power button until the screen shuts off. Then press and hold volume down, then press and hold power and hold them both for about 4 seconds and then release both to get into bootloader mode.
In bootloader mode, you use volume down to scroll down and then you use volume up to select. You do NOT press the power button when in bootloader mode. Are you pressing the power button when in bootloader mode? Don't do that.
Use volume down to scroll down to recovery, then press volume up to select recovery to get into recovery. Can you get into recovery?

Are you pressing the power button to select recovery? You select recovery by pressing volume up, not power. If you are pressing the power button, that is why you are not getting into recovery.
You do NOT use the power button when in bootloader mode. You use volume down to scroll and volume up to select.

If battery is too low, buy a Motorola factory cable, adapter, or make your own. It will allow the phone to be powered while in fastboot to flash.

Brick/Bootloop Huawei P8 Lite 2017

Hello everyone, I saw a few posts on this forum about other bricked phones, but my case is different (if its not then please link me the thread, Thanks).
Story: Today I decided that my unrooted phone wasn't enough for me, so I said: "Why not root?" . I have to add that I owned a LG Magna 3G before this Huawei P8 LIte 2017 and oh boi was the rooting procedure WAY HARDER(the huawei procedure)... I did well with my LG, but not so well with my Huawei. To be honest I was almost done but because I couldnt boot into TWRP, I decided to follow a guide I cant find cause I followed so many that my History is a mess (if anyone requests I will do some digging though). The guy suggested to someone that couldnt boot into TWRP (like me) that he should falsh TWRP>relock his OEM>Shutdown>Press a combination to go into recovery mode>???>Profit. I did just that but my device is now a 180 Euro brick.
Probelm: My device bootloops. Every time I shut it down (hold power key for 10sec), it reboots and gets stuck on the famous "Your device has been locked and can't be trusted. To learn more, BLAH BLAH BLAH. Your device is booting now...
I tried several key combinations, but whatever I do, when I hold my power key for 10sec, The huawei logo pops up for a second or two and then I get stuck on this screen again...
Sadly, I seem to have no connection between my PC and my device (adb can't find any connected device).
I also want to add that, after I was promted to relock my OEM, I removed the USB cable whoopsie.
What Im looking for:
A way to regain contact between my PC (adb) and my phone
A way to shutdown my device for now (and not forever... just for the night)
Someone to tell me that he had the same issue and took the following steps (Need clear answers and steps)
Anything else whatsoever
I don't think it's necessary to provide the files I used, since the reason my device is like this is because of my own stupidity:silly:
Thank you for your time.
You have to hold Power and Volume Up button pressed to boot into erecovery, not only power, check it.

Sorry for replying after 2 hours, I didn't get a notification.
I tried:
1. Holding the buttons until I see the "your device is booting..." message
2.Holding the buttons until it vibrates
3.Holding the buttons until I see the Huawei logo
Thanks for your time anyway
You press Volume Up + Power simultaneously, when you see the Huawei logo you release Power and hold Volume Up only until it boots to erecovery.

Tried this several times, no result.
Is there a more drastic solution to my stubborn phone?

The most drastic solution is the DC Phoenix software, not for free, if i am right they ask 15€ for 72 hours.
Not going to bother with this one tho... if I am very desperate, I might try to "borrow" it, but Im gonna seek other solutions until then.
Thanks for your time
On the "your device has been unlocked" hold the Volume up button until you boot to eRecovery. From there connect to wifi and restore stock rom. Afaik, erecovery should boot on bootlooped device. Give it a try
If this doesnt work, plug in to pc, and hold volume up + power, on huawei logo leave power button and hold volume up until you get to erecovery

Hello, thanks for replying
My device is now good, only gapps are missing but I don't care too much. Here is what happened:
So, I left my phone unplugged from any power source during the night (meanwhile the screen couldn't turn off), although I swear I did this 20 times already, when I booted my device after I came back from my University, my phone booted into eRecovery... I downloaded the latest package and it seems to work just fine now, the only problem is that the gapps need to be flased via TWRP (that I don't think I have anymore, how ironic).
Thanks to all of you who cared about giving me a solution :victory: Have a fantastic day
If you want to have a complete working system, i suggest you to try to update using erecovery again. It should download full firmware with gapps etc

Well, that was what we told you to do at first time. Erecovery can bring it back to life easily. Now as you have already been told erecovery flashes the complete firmware, including gapps.
You can also try to update it through the settings menu, in the system update settings you press the three dots menu on the upper right corner and select download latest complete package.

I know you told me first but, the difference was that, my phone had to ran out of battery to do this. In the end of my last reply I said thanks to all of you who cared, including you, you cared the most actualy

Well, at least it works now.

Probably Hard Bricked

I have a G973F that I managed to root and get TWRP installed. I attempted to install the BeyondROM but wouldn't make it past the logo screen so I attempted to flash the original firmware for my device using Odin. There were no errors when I flashed the firmware but the system still didn't boot. I tried to do a factory reset from the recovery menu and it seemed like it completed but now my device will only turn on with "Only official released binaries are allowed to be flashed" at the top. It does not attempt to boot the OS and turns off a few seconds after I release the power button. I have held the Bixby+Vol Up buttons to attempt to get into recovery, doesn't work. I have held Bixby+Vol Down buttons and plugged my phone into my computer to try and boot download mode, doesn't work.
I can't do anything at this point. Does anyone have a way I can use to recover from this?
Hi I got plenty of times this msg "Only official released binaries are allowed to be flashed". You don't have to worry about it. Just try to flash Official Stock and it will be fine.

Unfortunately I cannot get to download mode to do that. My phone turns on flashes the notice and then turns off. If I hold the power button it will stay on but Download Mode and Recovery cannot be booted to.

Thats the tricky part but I know its hard. Try to press together Bixby + Power button. As soon as it goes off then suddenly press Bixby + Volume Down button and attach data cable. I got the same issue because you have only few seconds to do it. If you cant do it then try to get some help of your friend or relatives etc. I am damn sure you can do this. You take reponsibility of buttons and tell your friend to attach the cable once it goes off. And sorry for my bad english

Your English is great and it worked as you said. I totally thought I was out the cost of this damn phone. Was that documented somewhere or did you randomly figure that out?
Its even easier - you can keep the cable attached. Had some story ...)

Phone boot loops at M logo Moto E5 Plus model XT1924-3

Exact problem step by step
I press power button to turn ON the phone
Moto M logo appears less than a second and screen goes black
Again M logo appears and screen goes black - this loops indefinitely
USB debugging and Bootloader unlock is NOT enabled - no option to reflash stock or change OS
Haven't opened up the device physically yet. Any soft troubleshooting steps appreciated
Maybe this will help?
You're best bet is either getting back to where your bought the phone (with warranty) and getting another one if you can't do that try getting to your phones (Stock) Recovery and from there hard resting your phone (wiping your date and cache) if all that didn't work for you try fixing your phone at your local Motorola/Lenovo center
Sorry for the horrible English and the inclusive tutorial would hope you the best with you phone the.

I would Try LMSA's Flashing/Rescue option

Thanks, I guess i'll take it to local repair shop, this phone is out of warranty and approaching Motorola center (Out of warranty repair) would cost me the price of another phone.

Hi thanks for the suggestion, I tried the Rescue option and it did flash with stock ROM about 1.4GB but did not help. Goes in boot loop again - Now i can confirm that this phone is dead due to hardware problem. Will take it to local repair shop (post covid19 lockdown lift) and see if it helps.

I'm having the same problem. I can not find a fix anywhere. But I can get into my phone temporarily so I thought I would share this with you:
While the phone is flashing the blue screen, hold down the power button and the down volume button for about 5-10 seconds... the recovery screen will appear... then you HAVE TO PLUG a usb data cable into your phone and connect it to a computer. Once the connection is secure, you can select RECOVERY MODE from the menu with the volume arrow keys... then tap the power button to select RECOVERY. Blue screen for about 10 seconds then it goes to the little dead green robot with a red exclamation point. hold down the power button, then tap the UP VOLUME key... this will take you to the Recovery menu.... now select Reboot system now. and the phone will boot up and work normally... UNLESS you unplug it from the computer, then it will immediately go back to Blue Strobe Light mode. Hope this works for you so you can recover some data if you need to.
I did a factory reset like this and still get the flashing. no boot. I found this thread looking for a fix, but alas there seems to be none. so going back to samsung when i can get to a store.
Please share solution you found
